Video summary
The Brazos Valley Gives 2026 webinar led by Claire PCO and Kila Stoval from Mighty Cause provides a comprehensive guide on utilizing fundraising tools designed to help nonprofits engage donors and maximize contributions. The session focuses heavily on customizing the organization-level donation form through the dashboard's Checkout menu, allowing administrators to adjust suggested dollar amounts with specific descriptions and enable optional designations or dedications for gifts made in honor of others. A significant portion of the discussion covers peer-to-peer fundraising strategies that expand donor reach alongside matching grants which can double the impact of every gift by setting parameters such as match percentages, maximum ceilings, minimum thresholds, and rules like "once per donor." These tools are further enhanced by text-to-give functionality using SMS keywords active only during specific giving windows, ensuring organizations have multiple channels to capture support.
Beyond digital configurations, the webinar details the complete online user experience where donors can select preset amounts, enter custom contributions, manage visibility settings for dedications, and pay via various methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit cards, or ACH with a $50 minimum. The platform also supports offline donations managed through host coordination, addressing common questions about checks and cash gifts while noting that detailed process guidance for these items will be updated later. Administrators can set specific start dates for matching grants to go live at any future time and configure sponsor publicization options alongside metric inclusion rules within the campaign management system. Additionally, the opportunities tab allows hosts to create in-person or virtual volunteer and learning events with customizable details like registration URLs and waivers, enabling them to manage participant lists, send reminders, and export data once these initiatives are launched.
To ensure long-term success and donor retention, the session highlights advanced reporting features that distinguish between matched and unmatched gifts while respecting privacy settings for hidden identities. The donation report offers extensive filtering capabilities by date range, type of giving event, or peer-to-peer campaigns to display donor names and amounts clearly. A dedicated recurring donations report helps identify lapsed supporters so organizations can re-engage them effectively, while CRM contact management allows teams to track three years of migrated donor data with robust filtering, messaging capabilities, notes in a relationship tracker, and demographic insights. These analytical tools empower nonprofits to understand their supporter base deeply, ensuring that both online and offline contributions are tracked accurately even when full simulation of the text-to-give experience is not yet active before launch.
The webinar concludes by addressing specific questions regarding business matches for employees donating to external organizations, which currently require further clarification from the Brazos team rather than immediate implementation. Administrators are strongly encouraged to explore these diverse tools in advance of the actual giving event and utilize upcoming training sessions for continued support as they finalize their strategies. By combining customized donation forms, flexible matching grant structures, efficient volunteer management, and insightful data reporting, nonprofits can create a seamless fundraising environment that maximizes engagement during the Brazos Valley Gives 2026 campaign while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders involved in the process.

All right, it is 11:01 and I would love
to be mindful of everyone's time today.
My name is Claire PCO and I am the
project manager with Mighty Cause that
is supporting Brazos Valley Gives as
they transition their giving day to our
platform for this year's giving event.
Um, if you joined us during our first
webinar, thank you for coming back for
our fundraising tool session today. And
if you were not able to join us um
during our first webinar, we're so
excited to have you. Um today's webinar
is recorded and it will be included in
the nonprofit toolkit that we'll be
publishing on the Brazos Valley Gibbs
website in the near future. So you'll
have this video to reference.
Um so you're welcome to take notes if
you'd like, but the video recording will
be available to you as well. If at any
time you have questions throughout the
webinar, I encourage you to drop them in
the chat and I will make sure I get to
them um whether it's in the middle of a
particular conversation about the
platform or perhaps at the end of our
call today. Um no question is too big or
small and I will also stick around for
just a little bit after the webinar um
to answer any additional questions that
may arise.
All right, let's go ahead and get
rocking and rolling. Today, our webinar
this morning is all about the
fundraising tools that the Mighty Cause
platform can offer your nonprofit
organization this year for Brazos Valley
Gives to ensure you are engaging your
donors, um leveraging uh gifts for your
cause, and um just making sure you all
have a really successful Brazos Valley
Gives.
As I mentioned, my name is Claire PCO
and I've been working with the Brazos
Valley Gives team for the last couple of
weeks to get them situated on the
platform and I'm joined today um by Kila
Stoval and we're so excited to have you.
Please Kayla, go ahead. Hey, good
morning. And I'm so glad that
everybody's here. Uh looking forward to
a great webinar. And I just wanted to
take this opportunity before we get
started with today's training to remind
everybody that we've got the nonprofit
workshop for some handson help and some
uh expert advice from those of you that
have done Brazis Valley Gives for a
number of years and those of
[clears throat] you that are brand new.
It's just going to be a time of sharing
and um getting us all prepared. So
looking forward to seeing everybody on
Monday at the College Station Library
and it will be from 11 to 1. So call us
or email us if you have any questions.
>> Wonderful. Thank you.
>> All right. So here is our agenda of
items we'll be talking about today.
We've got quite a bit to cover. Um,
first we're going to take a look at your
organization level donation form and the
options you have to customize that
donation form to align with your mission
and your strategy. We'll be talking
about online donations, the fundraising
tools that the platform has for you to
leverage this year. So, we'll dive into
peer-to-peer fundraising, matching
grants, opportunities, text to give, and
a couple of little other tools that you
may find valuable this season. We will
take a look at the reporting for you all
to see after your giving event. And
although I will spend quite a bit of
time going through our slides this
morning, I will also do a demo walk
through uh where we'll look at things in
real time on the platform and then again
wrapping up with a Q&A at the end.
So first let's take a look at your
donation form
on the platform. Once you're signed in
as an admin, on the left hand side, you
will have your dashboard menu, you're
first going to want to navigate over to
the checkout option. And underneath
checkout, you are going to find your
donation form, your thank you page, and
your donation receipt. There are several
ways that you are able to customize your
donations uh your organization's
donation form. We'll talk through each
one of these um in just a bit, but
you're able to customize the donation
amounts that you would like to offer
your supporters. You can turn on
optional dedications,
designations, as well as using any host
level question templates that the Brazos
Valley Gives team may uh provide for you
to include on your donation form.
Let's talk through each of these one at
a time. So, your donation amounts. When
you are toggled over to your donation
form, you will have four defaulted
options for gift dollar amounts. You can
customize those donation amounts by
selecting the pencil icon. And you can
also include a description for what that
donation amount might um satisfy within
your organization. So, in this example
here, the first recommended donation
amount is $200. And the organization has
opted to explain that $200 can fully
vaccinate one dog or cat. So, it helps
your donors to know exactly how their
dollars will be used and how far their
dollars will go. There are four
defaulted options for you. And you will
also have the ability to add additional
dollar amounts should you feel so
inclined to do so.
Designations are also an optional um
function on your checkout form or your
donation form. So perhaps your
organization has several projects you're
engaging in this year or several
missions that you would like donors to
be able to um allocate their funds
towards. So it lets your donors choose
where they want to give and how they
want to support. Uh research shows that
when donors have choice, they're more
likely to engage in giving. So this
might be something that aligns with your
strategy. Um and by using the pencil
icon, again, you can include that option
on your donation form and create the
several designation categories.
Now, this doesn't mean anything on the
back end as far as you receiving your
gifts. It just allows you to give your
donors that additional autonomy um when
they're making a donation to your cause.
Just like designations, you can also opt
to include the dedication section on
your donation form. Oftent times donors
want to make a gift on behalf of
somebody or in memory of somebody or in
honor of somebody. So, that dedication
section will allow your donors to do so
when they're checking out um as they
make a gift to your cause. They will
have the option to send an ad or an
email to the individual that they're
making the gift on behalf of and they'll
be able to include the name as well. Um
here are the different options they the
donor will have as they make that
dedication.
Um, we did speak a little bit about this
in the first webinar, but on your
organization's page, you have the option
to include giving activity, which is
essentially a rolling list of donations
that are coming to your page. This will
display there. So, you will see donor
made a gift on behalf of or dedicated to
and then that individual's name as well.
Question templates. So these are
questions that the host in this case
Brazos Valley Community Foundation may
create and provide for you as an option.
So for example here you will see the
host has created a question template all
about volunteer pledging and whether or
not the um donor would be interested in
volunteering for the organization.
you as the organization have the option
to include some of these questions on
your form. Again, if it aligns with your
strategy. Um, so take a look as you
begin to customize your donation form if
Braz Valley has included any of these
question templates for you. You may
choose to use them or you may not. Um,
as a general rule of thumb, however, we
do want to be very intentional about how
many questions we're adding or asking on
our donation form. um we don't want our
donors to feel like they have to go
through multiple um entries or click
multiple buttons or fill out many fields
in order to make that final gift. Um so
we do want to reduce the number of
barriers to them selecting a dollar
amount and fully submitting that gift.
So just be mindful of how much you're
including on your donation form um so
that we're not uh creating any fatigue
for our donors. We'd like to make these
um gifts as seamless and as
straightforward for them to make as
possible on the giving day.
So again, all of your donation form
customizations are going to be found on
the left hand side of your dashboard
under checkout and under donation form.
The final piece is you sharing your
donation form. So, you'll have the
option to share your organization's page
URL. But if you'd also like to direct
donors in your um circle directly to the
donation form itself, you will see a
link at the top that says copy direct
donate link and you can use you can use
that in a call to action in a newsletter
or on your social media or any email
campaigns you send out to your
supporters and it will bring them
directly to the donation form making it
even easier for them to give once early
giving begins.
All right, we are going to shift gears
just a little bit to talk about how will
your donors even be making this gift?
What is their user experience like on
the mighty cause platform? What options
will they have? So, let's take a look at
what online donations will look like for
your donors. I always like to start with
sort of the end product. So, this is
what our donation form looks like. So on
the left hand side you will see those
four defaulted donations donation
amounts any changes you make here um in
dollar amounts or adding descriptions
that will be visible. You'll also see
that there is a custom field for donors
to enter a donation amount of their
choice. Perhaps you have someone who's
feeling very generous and they'd like to
give $1,000 to your cause. you haven't
included that as a defaulted button, but
it still gives that donor to give more
if that um is what they're hoping to do.
Underneath the dollar amount selection,
you will see where your donors will have
the option to make a dedication or
select their um designation
or um update their visibility or
anonymity for their gift. Each of these
sections here is collapsed in this view.
But if they click on this carrot here,
the menu option will expand and they'll
see the options for dedications,
designations, and donor visibility. Once
that's completed, they can add their
gift to the cart and then they shift to
the second screen, which is their
checkout.
Donors will be able to pay with Apple
Pay, Google Pay, Credit or Bank Transfer
via AC. Um, the donation minimum for
Brazos Valley Gives is $10, but please
uh pay special attention to our AC
option has a minimum of $50, which is
pretty standard. Um, if a donor is
making a small gift, um, like $10, an a
payment wouldn't be the best option for
them. So, you know, we do have a minimum
there. underneath where donors select
their payment method or enter in their
payment details, they'll have the option
to check um the box about covering fees
or opt out of covering fees. Um once
their selections are made here, there is
a summary so the donor has full
transparency as to what their final gift
is. um the dollar amount of the gift
itself. Any additional fees they're
choosing to cover will be outlined here
and then they can move forward with
submitting their payment. So that is the
user experience
and again just reminding you all that
donors have many different options for
payment and so we hope that we um are
reaching a a broad range of um options
for your donors.
So that covers the online gift giving
process for Brazos Valley Gives. Now we
know that there are gifts that also come
in directly to your organizations or
entered offline by the host as well. Um
so please um you know stay in touch with
the host and review the nonprofit
toolkit or FAQ to learn a little bit
more about your offline donation options
there. We are going to shift gears now
into really the bulk of our
conversations today about the
fundraising tools your plat or your um
organization can use on the mighty cause
platform. We're going to highlight
peer-to-peer fundraisers today, matching
grants. We have opportunities that we'll
talk about text to give and a couple of
other items that you'll find helpful
leading up to early giving.
All right, period up your fundraising.
This is really the bread and butter of
our giving events on the Mighty Cause
platform. And I'm sure many of you are
super familiar with the value of
peer-to-p peer fundraising and um how to
solicit peer-to-p peer fundraisers from
your supporters. So, if you're not
familiar, peer-to-peer fundraising is a
technique where nonprofits will leverage
their existing supporters, donors who
have already given to these causes to
help bring in new donors by asking them
to create fundraisers and share them
within their own networks. So you have a
supporter who has been um committed to
your cause for many years. They can
create a fundraiser on behalf of your
organization. They can share that with
their friends and family. And the idea
here is that it expands the reach of
your cause to to new donors. I think
sometimes we reach a point where we've
exhausted our donors um in our general
area and we're always seeking to expand
our reach further. So peer-to-peer
fundraising is really a great way to
expand that reach to a new donor
community.
benefits of peer-to-peer fundraising,
donor acquisition. So, it helps you
expand your donor base and gives you
access to people who might be making a
gift for the first time to your cause.
Um, spreading the word about the work
you're doing and connect with new
individuals um to solicit gifts for your
cause. Additionally, it helps to deepen
your relationships with donors who have
already been committed to your
organization for for many giving seasons
and it helps to cultivate stronger
supporters in the long run. Um, and
ultimately our goal is to help you raise
additional funds for your organization
during the giving event. So, with a
limited amount of time for these, you
know, fundraising marathons, many people
will want to recruit their supporters to
help them reach more people um and raise
more funds.
On the mighty cause platform, we
encourage everybody to set up individual
fundraisers or to help their donors set
up individual fundraisers. So, you as
the organization admin could spend some
time uh helping and mobilizing your
donors to create these fundraisers on
your behalf. Um we'll walk through how
to create them as well so that you're
familiar with the process the donor will
go through to set up the individual
fundraiser.
We will use um this page here, Black Cat
Society in our demo. Um so you'll come
to be familiar with this image here, but
when your donors visit your
organization's page, next to the donate
button, they will see the fund raise
button. They'll select this and that
will prompt them to create the peer-to-p
peer fundraiser for your organization.
So it's pretty straightforward.
Uh once they click the fundraising uh
fundraise button, the screen will shift
and it's going to prompt them through
our campaign wizard that is going to ask
them to fill out, you know, the title,
um a little bit of an a story or an
about section. Um so there's a couple
options here. Your donors can either
create their fundraiser from scratch
using our creation wizard or
alternatively you as the host or as the
organization admin can create a template
that makes it very easy for your donors
to create the fundraiser. The template
will give you an opportunity to select
um a predefined title for your
fundraisers. It will give you an option
to include a pre-selected image and
about section for these peer-to-peer
fundraisers. Select a defined goal for
your peer-to-p peer fundraisers. That
way, all your donors have to do is click
the button, select your template, and
move on and share their fundraiser with
their community.
Once they do select your template, um
they will still have the option to
customize some items here. So, again,
that choice and autonomy will still
always exist for your donors.
um to access your fundraiser template.
You're going to now take um a look at
your dashboard on the left hand side and
you're going to find the lightning bolt
icon which is associated with our
fundraising tools and it's actually the
last one here, fundraiser templates. And
this is really a great way to take that
fear out of fundraising for someone who
might be brand new to the world of
peer-to-peer fundraising.
Um this is sort of what the template
looks like. So you can create again that
fundraiser title, a goal, include an
image, and then all your donor has to do
is, you know, move forward with the
template you've created for them.
Once your supporters begin creating
their peer-to-peer campaigns, you will
be able to look at all of these
campaigns created on your organization's
behalf underneath the campaigns tab
here. So in this example, you can see
four campaigns have been created. Uh you
can already see how much they have
raised on behalf of your organization.
Um you can see when they were created
and you will still have options here um
to either hide the campaign that's been
created or perhaps delete the campaign
that's been created. And you can even
message the creator of that campaign
directly through the platform. So
sometimes donors will create campaigns
that maybe aren't using the correct
messaging or language you'd like them to
use. And so you can have some control
over that as well here. Um the dollars
that are raised through the peer-to-peer
fundraisers are reflected directly on
your metrics total on your
organization's page.
There's also a way for you to
pre-approve campaigns before they're
even published. Um so we'll take a look
at that during our walkthrough as well.
All right, we are going to shift gears
into matching grants. Um, this is a huge
piece of your giving day. We hope that
you, um, are able to secure matching
grants through your supporters. Um, we
know that donors do more when they feel
like their dollars are going farther.
Um, so a matching grant is a way for a
donor to double their dollars for your
cause.
Um, you are responsible for securing a
match for your organization.
Um, and you want to promote your match
as well. Maybe you want to be strategic
about different times in which you're
promoting your match on the giving day.
Um, it really helps to sort of energize
the giving event. It helps to energize
and mobilize your donors. Um, and if
you're looking to really enhance giving
during a certain time, we encourage you
to offer that matching grant during that
strategic time of the day.
Um, you want to market the match to
create excitement and be able to uh for
your donors to take advantage of that
match that you have available for them.
Um, the match will be public on your
site or your organization's page in
several different ways. Um, the first
thing is if we take a look at this image
here at the bottom at the top of your
organization's page, you have the donate
button and the fund raise button we've
talked about. And when you have a match
that's live, your donors will see a
badge on that button that might
encourage them to donate now because
they know their dollars are going to be
doubled. And then also at the bottom of
your organization's page, you're going
to have a match tile. So maybe you have
one match going on or maybe you have
multiple, but your donors will be able
to scroll to the bottom to see all of
the different matches available and when
they'll be um live for them to take
advantage of. They'll see how much the
match is, how much is left to fulfill
the match, um what the cause is, who
it's supporting, and who it's sponsored
by. Um
so, lots of flexibility in how you
choose to uh promote this on your site.
You can have matches happen happening
simultaneously.
You can also schedule matches to go live
at certain times during the day. Um and
peer-to-peer pages can also take
advantage of the matches that you have
available.
At any time you can edit your match or
you can close it um even if it's not yet
been fulfilled and then you'll have the
option to download a report of your
matching grant.
Just some details here about you know
how to secure a matching grant.
We encourage you to reach out to your
supporters whether these are your board
members, major donors or corporate
sponsors that you might have. cultivate
that relationship with them. Learn
what's important to them. Ask them if
they want their um you know philanthropy
to be publicized as part of this match.
How can you have a bene mutually
beneficial relationship with them to
secure that match? Um and you know it's
never too early to start soliciting
matches from your supporters.
All right. How do you set up a match? So
again, under the fundraising tools drop
down on your dashboard with the
lightning bolt, you will see the
matching grants option here. Um, our
matching grants tool is pretty robust
and so my goal for today is to help
simplify it and make it feel super
accessible to you all. Um, I'll talk
through it on the slides now, but again
during the demo it might make a little
bit more sense. Um, so first you need to
finalize your details with your granter.
How much is the matching grant going to
be? Once you um get to the match
manager, on the top right hand corner is
a plus sign to create that match. Um
this is where you'll be able to enter in
all the details and the type of match
that you're creating.
Oops.
Uh we mostly talked through this
already. So how do you promote the
match? It's going to be, you know,
publicized on your organization's page
through the badge and through the tile.
And then in your donation report, what's
really great is that for each line item,
you will be able to see which gifts were
matched. So we see here the original
donation amount for this donor was $10
and the donation was matched. So if I
hover over this icon, this detailed view
will pop up and I can see that it $10
was matched for the initial $10 gift.
Joe Smith is, you know, who was create
who was the funer of that grant. So,
that's kind of what's outlined there for
you. When you pull your donation report,
you'll see on each line item the
original gift amount and then you'll see
if it was matched or not. Um, so it will
not show up as a $20 gift on your
donation report. It will show $10 and
that it was a matched gift.
All right. How are you going to wrap up
your match? How are you going to f have
your um granter fulfill that match? All
of that's really important based on how
you want your metrics to be displayed um
on your organization's page. Um so once
the match is fulfilled, the platform is
going to send a completion notification
to the address you included when you
created the match. Typically that's
going to either be somebody um on the
organization admin side and or the grtor
who um provided that match.
Um, so when you want the donor who is
providing your match to fulfill those
funds, there's a couple of ways for them
to do it. They can uh you can send them
a fulfillment link. So you can send them
a direct link to make that gift online.
Um, or alternatively, they can create a
they can just donate to your page for
that total donation amount. Um,
something to be aware of, however, is
when you create your match, you'll need
to decide if you want the match totals
included in your metrics or not.
If your donor is going to make a
donation to your organization's page as
a regular online gift, you will not want
to include match dollars in your
metrics. Otherwise,
it will look like a double match amount,
if that makes sense. So again, if your
donor is going to pay their gift through
an online donation, do not include your
match dollars um in your metrics. If
they are going to pay, however, through
the fulfillment link or through an
offline gift, then it would behoove you
to include the match dollars in your
metrics because then our platform is not
necessarily processing that additional
fund, those additional funds and not
doubling the amount that's displaying in
your ticker.
This often comes up and is often
something we need to just spend a little
bit of time thinking through or talking
about. So, if you have any questions
about how you are going to be setting up
your match, please reach out to the
Brazos team, reach out to me, and we'll
make sure that we're helping you set up
the match in a way that aligns with your
strategy and your mission.
Okay, matching grams. That's a lot.
Again, we'll look through the tool
together during our demo. I'm going to
switch gears now to some of our smaller
fundraising tools that you still might
find valuable and we encourage you to
use them. So, underneath the fundraising
tools on the lefth hand side, you'll see
opportunities. This is really like what
events are you having. Um, it's a way
for your donors to engage with you both
in person or online uh through virtual
events, fundraising, I'm sorry,
volunteer events. Maybe you're having a
um you know opportunity for donors to
come see you at a restaurant where
you'll be doing some additional
fundraising. All of that can be created
through our opportunities tool. And at
the bottom of your organization's page,
your donors will see all the ways that
they can get involved. So these
different tiles of different events
you're offering will be included on your
organization's page as well.
You can click on each of these tiles and
you can see who has registered for your
opportunity. Maybe you have a
registration link through Eventbrite or
some other um avenue where people
actually sign up to engage in the work
that you're offering for the
opportunity. All of that is integrated
within this um fundraising feature here.
All right. Some of you have already seen
this tool on your organization's page.
It's super valuable. It's basically a
built-in CRM tool for you all. Um,
Mighty Cost has already uploaded or
integrated your donors for the from the
last three years into this CRM tool. Um,
it helps you to manage all the people
that have already interacted with your
organization. For especially our smaller
organizations who maybe don't have such
a robust platform to keep track of their
donors and keep track of those
relationships with their donors, we've
we've set that up for you here. Um, so
you can filter donors by different, you
know, donation amounts, different
frequency. Um you can include you know
notes about tracking communications with
different donors. Um there's a detailed
summary of how often they have given to
your um cause their um you know data
such as like you know donor birthday if
they've opted to include that at any
point on their donor profile so that
maybe you want to reach out on their
birthday and keep them engaged with your
organization year round. You can see
what peer-to-peer campaigns they've
created. Um, lots of different ways to
learn more about specific donors
um, through the contacts tool. I'm
seeing a couple of questions in the chat
about this tool in particular. So, um,
it's my understanding that it's only
going to be the last three years of
donors migrated into our platform. Um,
so if you do need to revisit donor
history from before that, reach out to
the team um, and we can confer to see if
there's anything else that we can
provide for you.
um CRM, customer resource relationship
management. So helping you to manage
your relationship with your customers or
your clients or your donors.
All right,
I see there's quite a few other
questions in the chat. I will come back
to those at the end of our time today,
but I appreciate you all dropping them
them in there.
All right, we're also going to take a
look at text to give. Text to give is a
great tool to use for any of your
in-person events. Um, the way this works
is you as the org admin create a
keyword. A donor can text the keyword to
a number that we'll show you here. And
what happens is on their mobile device,
the donation form is brought to them
right away. So instead of them having to
go to the browse this valley gives
website, instead of them having to then
search for your cause, instead of them
having to click the donate button, text
to give is a one-stop shop to get your
donors from a keyword directly to that
donation form and just really makes that
bridging that gap from, you know,
thinking about making a gift to giving
it on their mobile device super quick.
Um, organizations can utilize text to
gift or campaigns or general fund needs.
It provides donors the ability to donate
directly on a smart device. Why would
you want to use this? Um, it's just
another option for your donors to easily
support your work from the convenience
of their phone. And it's a great tool to
promote your organizations also on a
radio or TV interview where you might
just want to shout out the keyword and
the phone number and that information
can just be relayed directly to the
audience that is listening in.
Um, all right. So, I think we should
call attention to when you might want to
use text to give. So, in-person events
where you want to include a poster or a
flyer with the text to give information
or perhaps uh make an announcement over
a microphone to an audience. So, instead
of having to describe the whole process
of going to the website, searching for
your organization, clicking on the
donation form, you just shout out the
keyword to them and uh they'll know
exactly how to get that they'll be
texted a link to that donation form. And
again, maybe you have the opportunity to
engage on on air talk shows or
interviews or new shows where you want
to announce it to a larger audience.
All right, setting up a keyword for your
text to give option. We'll take a look
at this during our walkthrough as well.
Um, underneath the fundraising tools,
you'll see the option for text to give.
On the top right hand corner, you're
going to select create a keyword. You
will select a keyword. So, you know,
Black Hat Society was the demo um
organization. I showed you. So maybe you
would just write um BCS26,
Black Cat Society 26. Um and then that
is the keyword your donors would text.
This phone number here you see on the
screen behind or right here at the top,
this is the phone number for all of you
that you would use for your text to
give. Now your keyword is what makes it
specific for your organization's
donation form. So again, including this
phone number on a flyer and the keyword
makes it really easy for your donors to
give from a smart device.
There's also a really robust reporting
feature for your text to give. So you
can see the different keywords this
organization has created. Um how many
times the text was sent to that keyword.
So, how many donors are you engaging and
how many donations were actually um
created from that particular instance?
Let's see here. Great question, Chuck.
So, if they try to give three months
from now, what will happen? It's not
going to be an option. So, for this
giving event in particular, donations
are only open for the 20 or from early
giving to the end of the giving event.
Once donations are turned off,
text to give is not going to be an
option. They can still text the keyword,
but there's going to be no result. Um,
they'll just see that the donations are
closed. Um, and it it won't allow them
to move forward with processing. You're
welcome.
All right. So, we'll take a look at all
of this during our walk through here.
And then the last thing I wanted to
touch on are some of the reports you
might find valuable to um keep track of
during the giving event or um after the
giving event as well. So, obviously your
donation report, very important. Um,
you're going to be able to review all
the information associated with each
gift. It's going to include any and all
donations your organization has
received. You'll have many options to
filter your data. Um,
this one here, campaign type, is a
really great feature to use when you're
filtering. So, you can sort it by, you
know, the last couple of years giving
events. You'll want to toggle this to
Brazos Valley Gives 2026. And then you
can also filter it by campaign. So any
peer-to-p peer um fundraising campaign
that was created, you can still filter
your donation report there. Um you can
search donors by name, you can search by
minimum or maximum dollar amounts.
You'll see here like the name of the
donate donor, the amount, um what
campaign it went to, and then this
download button is where you will pull
that gift from.
All right,
we also have a retention report. Um,
this is a pretty nifty feature and it
kind of aligns with our CRM contacts
tool as well. It helps you to see how
many donors are you retaining from year
to year. Um, which donors have come back
to your organization to give a gift. uh
which donors have given more dollars
than years previously, which donors have
maybe made smaller gifts than years
prior, and then which donors have not
returned um to re-engage with your
organization. The red dot next to each
donor's name, that's going to indicate a
donor that has not yet returned to uh
give a gift. This is a great opportunity
for you all as the organization to
re-engage donors that have maybe dropped
off from supporting your cause. you'll
be able to pull that information um
directly through the download button
here. Or alternatively, if you select
this envelope icon, you'll be able to
message your donor directly through the
platform as well um to to kind of bring
them back into your mission or to
reintroduce them to some new um you
know, causes or projects within your
organization that might align with um
who they are as the donor.
I think I saw a question in the chat
about this. Let me see here.
Yes. Um, the reporting tool will show
you the source of that gift.
All right. I am going to stop sharing my
screen for a quick second. I'm going to
move over to
our live demo and then we can look at
these items in real time because it's a
little bit more helpful.
All right, re-sharing my screen here.
Okay, so now you should be seeing
Black Cat Society. So when you are um
you know logged into the mighty cause
platform this is sort of where you land
when you click on your um account
profile here you'll see your managed
causes. So, Black Cat Society. Um,
again, the overview page is what we took
a look at, you know, during our last
webinar. Um, but we are going to go
ahead and spend most of our time looking
at our fundraising tools here, the
organization page, and our, um, reports.
So, let's take a look at the org page
real quickly. I'll toggle edit mode off
so it looks like the user experience.
You'll see here the donate button for
your donors to make a gift. You'll see
the fund raise button here for them to
go through the creation of the
fundraisers, peer-to-p peer fundraisers.
We'll look at that in just a moment. Um,
just a highle review right now. You'll
see the match badge. If I click the
match badge, it's going to bring me all
the way down to the match tile at the
bottom of the page. So, it allows the
donor to learn a little bit more about
um the match that's currently live. Um,
here's the get involved section I
mentioned. So, when you create any of
those events or opportunities, here are
all the ways your donors can engage with
your organization
through a volunteering event or through
a calendar event.
Um, so let's take a look at these items
one at a time. We're going to start with
our checkout, which is where we began
our training this morning on the
donation form. So, check out donation
form. And here we are. Edit mode is on.
So now I can begin to think about what
do I want these recommended dollar
amounts to be. Pencil icon allows me
then to select a suggested dollar
amount. And then here's where I can
create a descriptor.
If I wanted to add an additional amount
of maybe $1,000 because I'm feeling
fancy, I could do that here and add um a
descriptor additional support.
Click save. And now it is on your
donation form. At any time you can
remove those suggested dollar amounts.
Um here is where you can add your
dedication section on or off. So if I
toggle this off right now, this is what
it should look like when you um head in
to customize your form. So plus sign add
dedication option. Now your donors have
the option to add that dedication. This
is what the user experience will look
like. Um, and then they can also send an
email and include that message. So, lots
of options here for your donors to make
those dedications.
And then here's that designation
section. So, we've got a general fund.
Maybe um there's a new project that is
leashes,
right? So, you can include that.
Um you can also make this the default
designation that is going to
automatically be populated
um when they select those designations
and then you can always remove this
section as well.
Adding a section here so you can add
questions if you'd like to your donation
form. Maybe there's some data you want
to collect from your donors like is this
the first time you've donated to our
cause? how did you hear about our cause?
You can include that here. Um but again,
be mindful of how much additional
um information you're asking from your
donors. And then in these gray sort of
text fonts, this is where you will see
those templated questions from the um
host. So if Brazos Valley Community
Foundation chooses to include anything,
that will be here. Um donor type, what
donor type best describes you? So
perhaps the host wants to collect some
information on this, but options there
for you.
And then this is all pretty standard
here. Um that is how you're going to
customize your donation form. To copy
the direct link to your donation form,
you'll select this button here and it's
going to automatically um copy this for
you.
I'm just going to call our attention to
the thank you page. Uh, make sure you do
this as well so that when your donors
make a gift, you can have a message that
goes right to them on the screen um that
thanks them for their um contributions
to your cause. And then just quickly, if
you want to customize your donation
receipt, you do have the option to
include some additional language here.
So, familiarize yourself with the
checkout options. Make sure your
donation form, thank you page, and
donation receipt, you know, say what you
want it to say. All right, let's go over
to our fundraising tools.
campaigns. These are the peer-to-p peer
fundraisers that have been created for
your organization. In this demo, there's
a lot. We hope you have this many
peer-to-peer campaigns. Um, but it will
be up to you all as the organization to
promote them and to encourage them from
your donors.
Um, so you'll see the number of
campaigns,
you'll see, you know, if they're
currently published, how much they've
raised. You can click on the campaign
itself and it will bring you to the
peer-to-peer campaign page.
You'll notice here this one is requiring
approval. So for the demo, we've added a
process. Adding a process is what is
allowing you to approve any peer-to-p
peer campaign prior to it going live. If
you have the capacity to approve
peer-to-peer campaigns as they come in,
that's great. Maybe you want to have a
little bit more control of who is
publishing peer-to-peer campaigns. You
can use this tool. However, if you just
want anyone to be able to make a
peer-to-p peer campaign and it's
published and you don't have to worry
about checking the queue, maybe adding
the approval process is not the best for
you.
Um, fundraiser templates. So, this is
how you as the org admin can create
basically a framework for the
peer-to-peer campaign for your donors.
um by clicking create on the top right
hand corner. You can just fill in some
quick information to describe the
fundraiser title, goal, image, short
story, long story, create the template
and you're done. And then your donor can
use that right out the gate.
Um by, you know, if you have a couple of
templates, the one that is starred is
what's going to be defaulted for your um
for your donors.
Let's take a look at this one. You can
also edit your template. So, this one's
already been created, but maybe you want
to increase your goal. So, you could
edit that here at any time. I like to
say nothing is permanent on the
platform. Everything is pretty much
editable um in real time.
Uh let's take a look at what that user
experience is like for the donor. So,
again, they'll come to your org page,
they'll click fund raise, uh get started
options here. So, they can use the
template provided by the organization or
they can opt out and then create it from
scratch.
launch page manager
and the peer-to-peer process is created.
In this instance, uh the approval
process is turned on. So, you know, the
donor gets this message here. Got it.
And then the peer-to-p peer campaign is
already created.
Whoever's created the peer-to-p peer
campaign has some options here to kind
of review uh the metrics and the details
there. Um but we are not going to dive
too much into that today.
All right, let's keep moving and
grooving. It's crazy how quickly an hour
can go. We've got quite a few tools to
review here still. Matching grants,
that's our next big one.
Um, this is the matching grants manager
page. So, you'll see which matches are
live, which ones are um in Q to be uh
live at a time that you've defined, and
then you can also see all of your past
matches.
Let's go ahead and create a matching
grant here. Who is a sponsor of the
match? Do you want actually you should
ask them do they want their name
publicized? Yes or no? The amount of the
match and then including match value and
page metrics. This is that important
piece I was talking about. If you hover
over the question mark, it will give you
some details that might help guide you
making the best decision here. So, if
your granter plans to fulfill their
match online through a regular gift to
your organization page, we recommend
that you do not include match values.
Once you opt to exclude them, it's going
to ask you why.
Um, if your donor is going to pay
offline,
you can keep this uh enabled. That way,
you're not duplicating the amount that's
seen in your metrics title.
um you know queuing the match to start
over to start after another one has
ended.
Um if you want it to start after another
match, this is how you would select
which match it follows. Maybe you don't
care and you want them all just to be
live at the same time. Here's your start
and date time. You can define
match type. So if I give $10, do I want
100% of that gift to be matched? If it's
100%, yes. My $10 gift now turns into a
$20 gift. Maybe I only want 50% of each
gift to be matched. So if I give a $10
gift, now only $5 is being matched.
Maybe you want to add some, you know, a
ceiling here and you want to have a
maximum amount that's matched. So maybe
only gifts up to $50 are matched. And if
a donor gives $150, only $50 of that uh
gift is matched. So you can include some
parameters here.
Um you can also set a minimum dollar
amount. So the platform minimum for
Brazos is $10, but maybe you only want
gifts that are $15 and above to be
matched. So you can include that here.
Also, you can include um you know
fundraisers, offline donations.
Sometimes donor organizations
only want
donors to match to have their dollars
matched once per donor. So again, taking
a look at all of the options here.
Again, I mentioned there's a lot of um
customization within the match. I would
encourage you to reach out if you have
questions. Explore support articles
about setting up matching grants. Um you
know, I want you to feel informed and
educated as you go through this process.
So, ask all the questions um when you
get to this point in the process getting
prepared for the giving day.
All right, let's take a look at text to
give really quickly. Super easy process
to set up text to give. this phone
number. That is what it is. It's going
to be the same for any organization on
our platform.
Um, and then this is where you create
your keyword. So, again, Black Cat
Society 26. Maybe that's my keyword for
a particular event. Um, maybe you have
multiple in-person events and you would
like to know how many donors are giving
text to give per event. So, maybe you
have event one, that's your keyword for
your first Inerson event. uh event two,
you know, if you have another
opportunity for donors to give via text
to give.
Let me see. I see something in the chat
maybe about this.
I will come back to that question at the
end since it's about matching grants. Um
here you can see again the keywords, how
many texts were um sent that keyword and
the donations that have converted from
that opportunity. And then here's your
donation report specifically about text
to give. So, I think someone had asked
about that earlier. Will you see that?
Yep. You'll have an option to see a
report here as well as on your overall
donation report.
Um, opportunities will be the last one
we look at today.
This is where you can create your
inerson or um online volunteer or
learning opportunities or events about
your cause.
Lots of customizable options here. So
just familiarize yourself, create some
opportunities just to practice. You can
delete them later. Again, nothing is
permanent. I encourage everybody to play
around with these features and these
tools so that by the time the giving
event rolls around, you feel a lot more
comfortable with creating the true
opportunity or the true matching grant
um for your cause in person online
volunteering calendar event. Uh maybe
you have a URL for registration,
details about the opportunity,
all sorts of things you can include
here. Um waiverss, files,
um and then when you go back to your
opportunities tab, this is where you can
manage them once they're created using
the three dots to view the details.
General details,
you can see the participants, so you can
see who has signed up. You can message
those individuals through the platform.
Hey, reminder this event is coming up.
Um, you can edit the opportunity or you
can delete them as well. You can export
your participant list also. So, if you
don't have a process already for
managing opportunities and who's
participating, try out our feature here
um and see if it meets your needs. Um,
let's see here. Reports. Last thing
we're going to talk about today,
donation report. Um, lots of ways to
filter. So, let's go to last 12 months.
Here are all the donors who have given
to the cause over the last 12 months.
Donation type. Um, recurring donations
are not going to be um enabled for your
giving event, but online donations,
offline donations. You can view these by
different camp peer-to-peer fundraisers
that have been created. Um, you can also
view by the giving event. So, if I
wanted to look at, you know, big giving
day or browse valley gives 2025, that
will be an option here.
Um, download button is always going to
be
um available for you to export this
list.
You'll see donor name, dollar amount. I
can see here that a couple things. This
donor has opted to hide their name from
public or their donation amount from
public. Um, this icon here, if you're
curious, some people think it's a
lighthouse. it is actually someone
dressed incognito with a top hat and a
trench coat. Um, so you would see this
icon next to the dollar amount if that's
hidden or next to the donor name if
they've opted to hide their name as
well. And then you can also see that
their um their gift was matched. So lots
of highle stuff you can see here online
or offline gift
um if it was you know given directly to
a peer-to-p peer fundraiser or to the
giving event organization page itself.
a couple of tiles here. Something to be
aware of is the mighty cause team is
always making updates. So the, you know,
visual experience you have as the
organization may change before Brazos
Valley gives. I think we're going to be
doing some updates to, you know, the
tiles that are giving you some of that
highle um information about your
donation. So just be aware of that. And
then your recurring donation report as
well is here.
So, I'm not sure I have too much to show
you um just based on the demo site here,
but you can see that this donor is
actually active um and has returned to
give a gift for this giving event. Um
but again, you would be able to identify
who maybe has not returned to your
cause, and you would be able to
communicate with them directly through
the platform.
The last thing I didn't show you, and
I'm sorry I'm rushing a little bit here
at the end, is your contacts feature.
Here's the import of list import a list
of all of your donors. Um you can do a
bulk message to all of them this way or
if you click on a particular donor uh
you can send a direct message to that
individual.
Um so summary total dollars given how
many times they've donated. If you want
to track like we called this donor you
could track that here. Submit it. Oops.
and it will show up in the relationship
tracker. You can delete any notes you
add. Um just general demographic data
about the donor, their list of
transactions, peer-to-p peer campaigns
it created, um and then just other
communications you've had with them. So,
super robust tool. Explore it. Just like
anything I've shared today, dive in,
practice, um see what you know you have
questions about before the giving event.
Nothing feels worse than being down to
the wire and having questions about our
tools. So, play around with them today,
as in just in the next couple of weeks
before the giving event. I'm going to
stop sharing.
I see quite a few questions. Let me pop
into the chat. Make sure I can answer
all of these now. I'm sorry. I had an
issue logging on. Where can I find this?
Of course. Let me show you real quickly
how to log on.
So, we're going to go to the Brazos
Valley Gives site.
I'm already logged on, so let me log
out. Top right hand corner, you're going
to select the login button.
You can log in with your Google
credentials. If you've already been an
organization admin, type in your email
and select forgot password. But if
you're brand new, you don't need to
select forgot password. You can just
jump right in. Um, all of that was
covered in our first webinar and the
recording will be available for you on
the nonprofit toolkit in the near
future. So, um, take some time to review
that. Let's see. If we add a match and
have early giving, will the match show
as met by the end of early giving or
will it start when we add it? Um, you
get to define when the match goes live.
Um,
so I showed that when I did the demo.
When you go to the matching tool
creation, you'll be able to decide when
you actually want to go live. So, if you
have a match today and you're ready to
build it into the platform, go ahead and
then you can just define when you want
it to be published and available to your
donors to take advantage of.
All right, I answered what the meaning
of CRM was. Uh, last three years of data
only. Campaign goal is 20,000 and 10,000
will be secured and matching. So, we
would like to get another 10k in
individual donations. We want to market
every gift will be doubled and we want
the screen metric that the individual
donor see reflect that regardless of how
they choose to Yep. So then you would
include those match dollars um in your
metrics when you're creating that match.
You'll keep that box checked and then
you'll just want to be mindful of how
you're receiving that $10,000 gift from
your um grtor. Right? So maybe they're
just giving you a check behind the
scenes and you have that you have those
funds already. Um that is how that would
be set up. And Mary, if you have
additional questions about that, let the
Brazos team know and then um we can
confer to help you feel successful with
that. All right. Text to give parameters
were clarified.
Uh reporting tool text to give versus
online was clarified. I see uh Kila is
um promoting the Monday training. Bring
all your questions. I'm going to be a
little bit on call on Monday. So, if you
have any questions that come up that
day, um the team will reach out to me
and I will be responsive to ensure
questions are answered um as quickly as
possible. Can a business set up a
matching grant available as a match for
employees to donate to, but to any org
they choose? Um Leah, that's a really
great question and probably is a little
bit more of a nuanced answer than I have
we have time for today. So, let me
follow up with the Brazos team on how
best to support you with um business
matches. I'm just going to make a quick
note of that.
Great.
All right. Register for Monday's
workshop. The link is in the chat if you
haven't already done so.
If you have a total amount given for the
match, like up to 10,000, how do you
note this? Um, I'm not sure, Lonnie, if
I'm understanding the question. I'll
stick around at the end. So, if you want
to turn your mic on a little bit later
and we can talk through it, that's fine.
Can you practice text to give to give
text before the site is live?
Um, so unfortunately text to give is not
going to be something you can really um
experience in the full way before
donations are turned on. Um, you can set
up a a a keyword, you can practice the
text to give, but it is going to tell
you that the donations are not turned
on. So, um, give it a go, see what
happens, but it's not going to bring you
all the way through the full user
experience um, until donations are
turned on during early giving.
Um, Julie, offline gifts, those are
gifts that, um, your organization
receives directly to your office. So,
perhaps someone brings in a check uh,
for the giving event. Perhaps someone
brings in cash. Um, the Brazos Valley
Gibbs team and I have not had enough
thorough conversations for me to provide
guidance yet on the offline gift
process. So, um, keep your eyes peeled
for more information about that
fundraiser chair for two different
organizations. Sure. Um, if you're not
yet, feel free to reach out to the
Brazos team. They'll let me know that
you've contacted them and I can help set
you up as an admin for multiple
organizations.
All right, I have talked quite a bit and
you have all taken in a lot of
information.
Again, this is recorded. It will be
shared for you all. There's a great
training happening on Monday if you have
additional questions. At this time,
though, I think everyone is free to go.
Um, thank you all so much for being
here. I'll stick around just for a
little bit. Um, but I really appreciate
you all engaging in this learning and
we're so happy to have you and we're
excited for a successful Braz Valley
Gibbs.
All right, I'm gonna go stop recording.
