Essential support. All right, guys. So, today we are going to look over a job that we've been doing. And this is a Dectron unit that's been swapped out for a Desert Air. We're doing the startup on it. Our guys put everything in. And so now we're doing the final startup on it. Had a few small issues going on here and there, but we actually got air being brought into the recovery unit which goes on the roof. I just did my last video on one of these and you could see how badly that one was a pain in the butt. I've got the factory rep guy here which is kind of cool. So, I'm able to ask all the questions I want and get familiarized with it without having to read the book, which is a real plus for someone like me. So, this is the impeller for the pump down there in the basement. And it looks like it was fine. You know, I mean, you look at it, it looks like it's perfectly okay. I didn't order a new one. Just ordered this piece right here. This has a brass piece that goes on it. Anyhow, all said and done, even though the threads don't look like they're screwed up, they're screwed up. But, we're going to be doing all that stuff here, too. So, there's the Desert Air heat recovery. And then in here is the good stuff. Right here is a brand new one. Completely brand new. Disconnect. Brand new piping. Got rid of the old unit for the therapy pool. Put in a little coil up here. Reheat coil for that. It's all being fed off the one. Got rid of all our circulator pumps here that were for stealing water off the tower pumps or off the tower. Got everything marked. Got our pool recovery here where we get free heat into the pool. Got our temps. We had to put traps in here, which these are P traps. Still got to reinsulate cuz like I said, we had to do that yesterday. It wasn't in the instructions. Good to see my guy heated up my my nice sticker there. Got the boiler reheat part here. This is if uh the unit or the room needs heat. Brings it into the boiler coil here. We'll tear into that here in a little bit. And then you've got your air handlers and stuff. This is what we have throughout the whole building along with a bunch of VAVs. Our guys did the duff work starting from here all back to here. All this here is new. The transition up to the elbow up there is new. This is original, but this is new. This is original. This is new. So, we got the Corell controller in there. It is not variable speed, but take a peekoo here in a minute. See what we got. Okay, so this is one of the rooms down below. And this is my sub panel for that particular unit. So I wrote it there, but I wanted to make a nice label so we can find it. I'm going to make one on the breaker box up there telling it's breaker 2 going to this panel. I'm the only one that usually works on it, but just in case anyone else has to work on it, guess what? Desert air pull de. And then leave the exact sticker there. This is the thing that kind of makes a big difference. Believe it or not, it just if you label stuff, it's not like fancy fancy. BFD chiller pumps loot load side. Look at that. I had to write that in there. I think I'm going to make me a sticker for that while I'm here. Okay, come on down here. This is where the the boilers are at. So, there's the Cleaver Brooks boiler that we've been having some problems with. Had a company out of Toledo working on it, Energy Control. They've been having problems with it. So, hopefully they got it figured out. So, here's the other panel. This is where my drives are for my chiller. All this stuff kind of worked together before because had to run off the water towers. These are labeled, but not the greatest. Go ahead and label this up so it's a little bit nicer looking. Got our disconnect only. No starter, meaning this don't do anything. That's been disconnected because the amperage and stuff is all with those oldfashioned little uh heater elements, whatever. And it's got protection at the unit. Same thing with down here that's labeled. I don't know where my guy is. It's doing startup. He should be here about now. We got our stuff here. Let's get this thing to prepping and going because we can't do much till we get the water circulating. They got me a whole new seal kit here. Not really going to probably need it. This is the piece I do need. Part that got screwed up was that little piece there, which I think the outside edge corners would actually went bad. Your main pull pump is right here. Here's the motor. We're going to use the motor over. It connects to this. It's a takeo pump. Here's the other love joy coupling stuff like that. We clean this out. This right here is the seal, which I'm if I don't have to open this other seal kit, I'm not going to. This is going to go in between the impellers. So, let's take a look at that real quick. I've already disassembled this. Let's open this up. So, we got a little something to work with. There we go. I got a nice little base. So, this piece here goes down through here. We'll bolt that bad turkey in there. Here's the replacements. So, these right here, we'll bolt that in there. I need to clean this seal out. They use silicone, which is fine, but need to clean that out. I got to go back out and get me a set key because it's too expensive to give you a new set key. Everything's nickels and dimes, man. I'll tell you what, nobody can go the extra mile and give you a little extra for your money. Private equity. I think that's the whole problem. All right, so we got everything tightened up. There's that key in there. Let's go ahead and flip this over. Here's your seal for the base side. This goes right down in there. They give you some oil. I usually just use a dab of silicone and it only goes on some of the rubber. It's a little bit of a lubricant. I'm not getting it on the white stuff. That way if there is any pitting in there, whatever. I've never had a leak because of it. So, this is going to go right down through the center like that. Now, we got to wipe our hands off so we don't get this crap all over it. All right. So, this one's going to go all the way down in there just fantastically. Make sure there's nothing on that face. We don't want to etch anything into it that is like perfectly flat. We have the other side that actually seals. So this part here is going to seal the black to that and then everything else can be exposed. So essentially this comes down. That's probably where we want to put our lubricant at. There's so put a little bit of that. Really getting liberal with that, aren't they? Uh there's some grooves right here that's going to match up to that black thing since it doesn't want to hold steady. There we go. Now it works. Okay. Line those grooves up. There we go. We kind of pinch it together so they don't fall out of place. All the way down. There we go. Now see way that spins. Black is against the white. That is your water seal right there. So the rubber separates it to this piece. Rubber separates it to this piece and it's completely sealed. Now, behind that is going to be the spring like that right there. And here's this piece which is going to go on the impeller. The impeller is going to come down and it's going to squish right up against it. And then we will put the bolt behind it. Brand new impeller. The other one was brass. It obviously had some issues. This looks like stainless steel. So, this should hopefully slide right down nice and smooth. Fitting about the exact same way the other one was. Not worth a crap. This is the bull crap we dealt with on the other one. And that's the reason why I was flipping out. Hey, what the heck? Amazing. Just absolutely amazing. I mean, I'm at the point now like, what in the world do you do? All I can think is we grease and lube the crap out of it like that. Cuz that's all there. That goes around there like that. This goes like this. This is obviously not what's causing it. See, they give you a black one. Then you got a stainless steel one. I'm pretty sure for whatever reason they give you that nice long washer thing there. And then that stainless steel thing should match this one right here that I have left over from the last one. Let's see if the thing screwed up. I don't want to I don't want to open that other pack. Tell you what, let's just go ahead and go with the black one again. That you'd think the black is stronger. Such a nice clean workbench. Oh, for love of Bob. And of course, we've already sent one person up there to go get the parts yesterday. Those parts didn't fit on the impel on the impeller. And then uh we had a guy go there this morning and pick up parts to replace the parts that got damaged cuz they didn't fit. And uh before I damaged these parts, I called them and said, "Hey, well, this don't seem to fit." And they pulled up their part and looked at it and it's like, "Yeah, it don't fit right. We've sold 50 of these." So it's like, "What the crap?" So it's 12:11. I got to go up to Toledo. So that's a nice hour and a quarter, hour and a half drive. So here we go. Yay. You might have to use >> you got some. I I got whatever came in that package cuz like I said, I was going to put just silicone cuz that's worked really good with roof uh edges where it's been rusted and I usually get in there with buy a brush similar to what you got and do what I can with it. Making a gasket so it'll seal around the edge corners. We do rubber from the thinner to the got all kinds of stuff. >> Yeah. Thicker. >> Yeah. I mean, even though I had to come up here, it was nothing they did. the parts they had were defective and they had sold 40 some of them or 50 some of them and they never had no problems. But the fact that they put it on the bench soon as I got there, started mking it, making sure they tried two different ones. Something was wrong with it. But we're going to head back to town, get this thing installed. If it leaks, they built me a thick gasket to make up for the cavitation and stuff like that. We're going to at least get it running so the guy can go back to Desert Air, which is over in Wisconsin, and get this thing done. But if you guys need any pumps, glycol, stuff like that, any type of rebuild on that kind of thing, they do everything from small to humongous things that you seen there. And uh give them a call. I showed the guy's shirt there in the thing, but let's get going. Head back to I75. Here we go. He's got some idiot in the way. Yeah, there's Dana over there. We're finally here. Back to What a freaking day. What a freaking day. It's uh 4:23 and always on Friday. It's fantastic. Here's the extra one. There's that. Yeah. So, we're right back to using what we really originally had. Yeah. Well, just easier to get up here, run this down. Like I said, I got that's the reheat right there. Not even going to have time to dink around with that. But basically, it sucks the pool area air through, runs it through a coil. You got an evaporator coil in here, and you have a coax condenser coil. Then you have a compressor in here. The compressor puts the heat, which would be your condenser, into this pool water. The water coming or the air coming out of the pool area obviously is going to be about 84°. It's going to pass across that cold evaporator. It's I don't know how efficient it really is, but it supposedly makes it more efficient and everybody's happy. So, there's that. You have your pressure sensing uh thing there, which goes through here and around. This is all going to get insulated. It has heat tape on it. It's not done yet. Biggest thing biggest thing is this was all supposed to be done fairly quickly and this has just been one thing after another. Eventually, we'll probably see the pool. This video is what I've got cuz this week has been screwed up with startups. They've been wanting me to do more startups and it's screwing up my repairs. So, I have got to be creative to come up with stuff. So, you know, you seen that one video where I was working on these chillers and that boiler and all this mess. So, see if we can get this thing jimmmed up. There we go. Look at that work. Look at that. the things I do for you folks. So, the worry was is this right here. There's almost nothing almost nothing left on that. That thing is just plum shot to crap. So, what we're going to do, going to smear a little bit all the way along here. Yeah, there's only so much I can do. If it leaks after he's done, whatever. It's one of them things where we'll just order them a new pump. Either way, I'm always ordering a new pump, I think. It's uh we just got to get the important stuff done first. Pumps and stuff are kind of boring when it comes down to it. Usually, I put it on the front and back side, so I'm going to do it on both sides of the tents. Work really good. I like this just because it fills in any voids, especially if I had the cavitation is mild. Now, obviously, this cavitation's extreme. Like I said, those guys made this thing custom, which is awesome cuz it's thicker than what it was before. As far as the impeller being perfectly lined up, whatever the case, I mean, we are just uh hoping for the best here. I know that pump stuff is kind of boring. So, I don't usually show this stuff a whole lot. I've done it once or twice before. See that pump right there? That's actually cast iron pump right there. That's the main pull pump. Well, so far it turns and doesn't hit nothing. A little hard, but feels like it's turning. That's going to pull high amperage. That's freaking awesome. Fantastic. And freakingastic. That's f That's That's freaking awesome. Thanks. Now, what do you do now? We maybe take the grinder out and grind the end off a little bit cuz you know what? I ain't got time to play games. This has been wasting all damn day. They need a good damn pump. That's all there is to it. They ain't a damn pump. No more this nickel dime We need to get a freaking pump. Every Friday, Rick, every day this whole week, I've been screwed into having to work late every day. every damn day this week. Yep. Every time you get in there tight, that's where it gets it. We got to be a pump guy, ice cream guy, a walk-in cooler guy, a freezer guy, a chiller guy, uh a generator guy, residential guy for all those 15 things. You just do everything. And guess what? I don't know everything. It's a little difficult at times to know as much as I already do know. I mean, that's why we get paid the big bucks, but still one of them things. They're doctors, for God's sakes, can't do more than one damn thing. I'm a heart doctor, a brain doctor, I'm whatever doctor. They don't do multiple things. You know, for all I know, could have been the outside edge corners hitting. No idea. No idea. You know what? I just want the son of a ber fit. Might have been just the outside edge corner. I was really wanting to show you guys the new unit, but uh that's not happening as much as what I was hoping for. It's going to be a little short. Kind of like a 30se second, 60-second type thing. Like, it's not going to be that short. A lot of people famous just for a stupid Instagram shirt where I walk in, my furnace is broke, then it's fixed. So, here we go. Let's see what else goes wrong. That's great for brand new unit. Okay, we're going to get in there and bleed that coax coil there, which it's hotter and in here because the damn boiler was on. Boy, that's nice and hot. That is nice and hot. That's got flow galore there. We'll let it pump up against that. I don't give a There we go. Maybe we just need to stop it for a minute. I don't know. Maybe the refrigerant was boiling it off or some crap. Who knows? Let's do this one while we're at it. Got water. Good enough. One of the things we found out though was if we cut the water back a little bit, it ended up giving us more flow. Obviously, some static pressure against it that seemed to make a difference. I don't know if they want water both on. I went ahead and just turned them both on. They got plenty of flow coming out of this. This is feeding the outdoor recovery heat recovery unit, which I already explained that uh water uh is forced out there through that through a heater loop back into here. It's cooled by the hot air coming from the building. The hot air basically gives you the environment of 80 some degree air year round. So even in the winter, you can get good heat out of it because more heat you have for the heat pump, so to speak, to run or an air conditioner, whatever. Um even though it doesn't change modes, it puts heat into coax coil, which then leaves it back here and then goes out to the pump. One thing we're going to fix here, this is not not going to work. This needs to go up higher. Um, it's draining, but it sure looks like it's having a hard time. It's wanting to kind of go into a negative, it looks like. I mean, it's coming out, but I don't know. It'll be good enough till Tuesday. They're great. Oh, wow. Those are expensive. They're going to love that. So, there's your evaporators. So, let's come down to there. You can see that right there. adjusts the uh static pressure across that coil. And then there's your bottom coil. Uh kind of scares me, but they're completely independent. So now we can see in there pretty good. It's sweating. Got a nice nice clear sight glass there. Got a little bit of fresh air coming in from the outside. That's all controlled by a damper. These are EXVs. down here were green. Then they got the A2L freaking sensor there. And they got one down here, which I can see those getting ruined by water. Screenshot that. Look at that. And you can see where all the water's going. So, it just ain't running. Contacttor's pulled in. It's off on thermal. >> I had it pulled in. There's nothing worse than somebody coming in to check on something and, you know, they think, "Oh my goodness, we got a leak. We got a leak. What's going on?" Need to call the guy on call and it's Clayton. So, I don't want him getting poked. So, here we go. Come back. I think I'm coming back on Tuesday. This is a weekend, so you know, this will be it'll be days later uh when you guys probably see it. So, it's basically just an air conditioning system with reheat, which is meaning it uses a condenser and evaporator, the same ballpark. The condenser coil is right after the evaporator. Evaporator gets cold, it sweats. But instead of letting the air get too cold, the foil for the condenser is right there tempering it and usually it's a one degree 2° somewhere that ballpark give or take a difference. And if that don't do it, boiler coil here, which has a lingo valve up there that's proportional, will allow a certain amount through. And they're both hot. The outs a little less hot because it's absorbing that heat from the coil. This thing's pretty sweet because we do have zone temp 72, return humidity 50. So the zone temp's way he must have did that for set point. He's going to have to set that warmer. But actually we're 81.5 or 53% humidity. So the bad boy is doing it. So yeah. And this rat nest here is uh the controls guy kind of got it in there. I mean it's it's really no great way to make that clean. That's just the way that wire is. You can clean it up a little bit. Make wire tie it together a little differently, but whatever. So you got pressure switch down here. Pressure transducer. This is for the actual differential. So then you got your regular step down transformers here. And then you got your three uh contacttors there for your compressors, which we have uh motor protectors built into it. We have the adjustable amp ranges there. So and then we got our face protection here. So everything so far looks pretty good. We got like I said 50% humidity and so so far so good other than the uh unit outside. That's all for circuit A, circuit B, suction 116, suction temp 55 saturated. Here's your other analog inputs. So, it's just like the chiller where you just basically check everything that's underneath the analog. Analog is anything that goes up and down uh has a variable. Digital is on or off, open, close. So, he's still messing with it. We're having problems with the revision numbers. And unfortunately, they've got the um flow switch on the outside unit backwards and it needs change in the compressor in the controller. It's a normal just a normal open or close switch and there's only two terminals in and out and it needs to close to complete the path to ground. Unfortunately, it doesn't do that and he's having a hard time finding it because it's a total different unit and they don't make, you know, there not many of them out there. Not too bad of a little unit. It'd probably be nice if we would have looped this down there to control it. And that's what they used to do before, I believe. And now they kind of got rid of that wiring, I think. I don't know. Either way, we're getting 82ish and 90. So, we're getting a 10°ree rise across that water. I slowed it down a little bit here just to kind of I don't know. I wish I had my pressure gauges back, which might be something something will happen later. Got this laminated this in my flow, which will give me something. I know what I had problems with on my other one. So that's the reason why I've got this one kind of I knew what to ask. Well, just going to go out here and double check a few things, but I think we're just about done. All right, guys. So, here it is. 812. The unit over here, the damn digital inputs on it. We're reversed far as normally open. Should technically be uh the switch is a open or close switch. Doesn't have three positions. So, it closes when it's got flow. We verified it had flow with the meter. It's closed. No way to switch it in the control. You had to go into the digital side of it, which they hide the the uh settings. And so, he loaded the old firmware. That's when we got some of it to run. So, he loaded the new firmware. That screwed it back up the way it was. And unfortunately, we just got to mess with it on Tuesday. I mean, it's this damn late. This is ridiculous. Uh, we got at least the dehumidifier working. So, we're going to just do it over the phone on Tuesday. So, yeah. Hope you guys enjoyed the video.
