Video summary
The video chronicles a tumultuous hair transformation journey that begins with jet-black hair and quickly spirals into a series of failed dyeing attempts. The creator's initial goal was to achieve a blue look using bleach and T18 toner, but the process was plagued by numerous errors, including improper sectioning, removing gloves which caused skin irritation, and uneven lifting due to thick sections that resulted in dark roots bleeding into lighter ends. Despite rating this chaotic first attempt a mere 3 out of 10, she decided to pursue a blonde goal with her boyfriend's help using a highlight cap method. This second endeavor yielded patchy results that required multiple rounds of bleach, ultimately leaving the hair severely damaged and described as "fried" and "mush."
In a subsequent effort to salvage the situation, the creator attempted to remove the existing color using a color remover and bleach baths, which unfortunately caused further damage by creating hot roots and leaving the hair in a state of orange, red, and black patchiness. After cutting off dead ends and applying permanent color over the compromised strands, the final result still displayed significant flaws such as brassy tones and uneven color distribution, earning an even lower rating of 2 out of 10. The video concludes this phase with the creator accepting the faded, multi-tonal look despite its imperfections, setting the stage for another DIY attempt eight weeks later to maintain the blonde color before returning to fun highlights.
Undeterred by previous failures, she attempted a root touch-up on her blonde hair but made critical mistakes that exacerbated the damage. Although she applied oil only to the mid-lengths and ends as a protective barrier, she admitted to overlapping bleach onto existing blonde sections at the crown, a common blind spot that led to significant breakage. Additionally, she mixed developer with 30 volume instead of her usual 20, causing uneven processing where the front sections turned very light too quickly while the back remained warm and under-processed. Feeling dizzy and unwell during the application, she took breaks but ultimately failed to complete the back section evenly, resulting in severe breakage concentrated at the crown and visible discrepancies between the overly light roots and yellow-toned mid-lengths upon rinsing.
To address the mismatch caused by her own errors, she applied a second, much darker toner that covered the yellow tones but created an undesirable gray shade compared to her lighter ends. She also decided to refresh the mid-lengths and ends with semi-permanent ash color in an attempt to unify the palette, but the final result was deemed a disaster due to extensive breakage, uneven tones, and a complete lack of cohesion between the roots and lengths. The video ends with the creator rating this outcome poorly on her "motto meter," highlighting the steep learning curve and physical toll of DIY hair coloring when technical skills and product knowledge are lacking.

Hi, beautiful. How are we today? You
guys have put me through a lot recently,
and today I'm hoping to reverse that and
see some really beautiful stuff happen.
I've been manifesting a lot lately, so
hopefully my manifestations become a
reality, or maybe it'll be like usual
when we see a bunch of disasters. And
don't worry, today I will be rating
their hair transformations. Will they be
good or will they be bad? We don't know.
>> As you can tell from the title, I am
dying my hair. Um, I'm currently
sectioning my hair right now, but let me
show you all the stuff that I um have. I
have all of the credentials right here.
So, I have bree and then 20 developer
toner and then hair [music] dying kit.
And then we have the dye.
>> Oo, we got a lot of going on right away.
I mean, she has almost jet black hair.
It is very, very dark. And I hope that
that's her natural hair color because
that would help her a lot. And if it's
not, it's not going to lift out very
well. It's going to be very difficult. I
don't know what the hell I want to do
for the hair. So, like I'm currently
like sectioning the bangs and then I'm
just sectioning the pieces that I want.
All right. This is what we have so far.
I'm so scared. Okay.
>> Okay. So, she sectioned out the front
parts of her hair. I don't know where
she's going with this, but she does have
20 volume. She has bleach and she has
T18 and blue. I don't know why you need
T18 if you're going to color your hair
blue. I don't know what that is. Also, I
highly doubt her hair is going to get to
a level 10. That's what T18 is, is a
level 10. So, that would make T18
completely useless and a waste of money
and a waste of time to use. Okay, great.
>> I just feel like a little high from
that. Okay. Um, let me actually show you
guys me. Wait, guys. I'm like kind of
shaking. I'm like a little scared. Okay,
now not too much with the scoops, right?
I prefer you to do one scoop at a time,
two if you really want to and you work
really fast. But when the lightener is
exposed to air, it oxidizes. So you
don't want to leave it sitting out for
an hour by the time you get to the front
of your hair. Then your hair will end up
two different colors, and that's not the
vibe. Even though a lot of you do that,
we're mixing.
This is making my head hurt. This smells
so terrible.
>> Oh. Oh, got it. SO, WE'RE JUST GOING TO
take a huge clump of hair and start
coloring it. Perfect. I hate that. Um I
I still don't really know what this
section is. She has one ponytail at the
top of her head and then she has the
rest. I don't know. There's a lot going
on here. But what I do know is that
section is way too thick. Take like a
third of that section next time and you
will be good to go.
>> Hey guys. So, this is me doing a voice
over. I'll be honest, mainly half of
this video is me doing a voice over
because I honestly [music] didn't want
you guys to be so like bored of the
process.
>> Those of you who know me know what I
love about what's going on here. She
applied the bleach before putting in the
foil. It is so much more DIY friendly to
do it like that instead of like trying
to do like a hairdresser who puts the
foil down and does the and then does the
thing. If we're not professionals, don't
try to be one. just do it the DIY
friendly way, which is this. I love to
see it. She's going to get better
saturation using her hands to apply the
bleach than she is with a brush because
her sections are way too big.
>> So, this is me sectioning [music] the
next part. And I'm going to be honest, I
am so bad at sectioning stuff. Looking
back at this video, I honestly have no
idea why I kept taking off my gloves and
just free ball bleaching because my
hands were so itchy after this. Anyways,
[music]
um here's me sectioning the next part.
>> Wait, we took off the gloves? We were
wearing gloves. We were doing a great
fantastic job and then we took them off.
Why would we do that? What was the point
of that? Tell me, please.
>> And unfortunately, I like I said,
[music] I suck at sectioning. So, my
boyfriend is coming on his way about to
I'm about to say it. I unfortunately
cannot get the back of my head. So, um
my boyfriend's coming over and we're
back to the dying. Okay. So, while I
waited for my boyfriend to get his way
over here, I just decided to bleach the
other side. [music] And I'm not wearing
gloves once again. Yay.
>> I mean, y'all cannot wear gloves all you
want. It's just like I just feel for
your hands. I mean, your skin's going to
be like, "What the are you doing to me?"
on fire. Ow. And I don't like that for
you. Okay. I love the way she's
manhandling this hair like it's her b.
Now, that's what I want y'all to do. You
my [ __ ] [ __ ] hair. That's what I
want you to treat your hair like, except
not when you're brushing it. You know,
you guys all yank your [ __ ] hair when
you brush it. That's the time not to
treat your hair like a little bit. When
your hair's wet like that, treat it like
a cute baby princess with long eyelashes
and [music] rosy cheeks. Ooh, and a red
lip like that.
>> All right, now I'm sectioning the next
piece.
>> I mean, we are scrunching that foil,
aren't we?
I'm getting better at that. I feel like
that one was really good. That is just
not what we ever want to do, guys. God
damn. It's like imagine how many times I
repeat [ __ ] and two people just don't
ever listen to me. JUST STOP WITH THE
SCRUNCHING. One [ __ ] foil, another [ __ ]
out foil on top. It's not that hard.
It's actually much easier that way.
Who's scrunching foils? There are
actually hairdressers that scrunch foils
and it has always stressed me out. Like
I don't know what the point of that is.
You risk uneven color saturation when
you are scrunching foils down on bleach.
Okay.
>> All right. Now it's raccoon tail time. I
honestly like this part of [music] my
hair a lot because I get a lot of
compliments on it. But one thing though,
this sucks bleaching because it never
gets lighter and like it just looks
[music] so gloomy and stuff.
>> Okay, there is a whole lot of going on.
She has these front pieces colored and
now she's adding a [ __ ] tail which go
the [ __ ] off.
>> But it's okay. I mean, you can still see
it though, but it's whatever.
>> All the scene girls from the OG scene
era, they were all using clip-in
extensions. They weren't coloring their
hair. Some of them were okay. Some of
them aren't, but most of them clip in.
>> But um it is time to take this [music]
out. [screaming]
I'm so scared. Oh my god.
Yo, what the [ __ ] Okay, guys. My
boyfriend's here.
>> So, that's not light enough. That looks
very dark and not favorable to the eye.
I don't love it. I don't hate it. I
think it needs about 10 more rounds of
bleach before we can get anywhere good.
But we're making progress, I guess.
>> Oh [ __ ]
>> Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ]
>> It's blonde.
>> Blonde.
>> How did this lift better than all these
two? Do you see it? Like these two are
lighter than this one.
>> It's not that bad.
>> I believe you. Hey guys. Okay, so
>> I'm guessing the reason for that was
because one of the sections were smaller
than the other. The more smaller your
sections are, the higher they tend to
lift, the faster they lift. If you take
really tiny paper thin sections and you
put a little 10 volume on there, you can
lift that baby to a [ __ ] white in about
30 minutes, 80% of the time. Little
disclaimer there.
>> It is a little crispy. I [music] want to
lie to you. We're going to do bleach
round
>> now. Why the hell is it 10 different
colors? And why do we have a black
strand going through the hair? I see
yellow, I see orange, and I see black
strands.
>> I see dead people. And now she's going
to try and do it again without having it
sectioned again properly.
>> All right, now on to Bleach 2. I'll be
honest, [music] look back at this
footage. My boyfriend just sits there so
awkwardly, but it's okay. He's still
cute though. I still love him.
>> Okay, well, we're going for round two.
Obviously, she's just said that. But she
is putting round two over these black
strands that have made its way into the
blonde parts, which I hate because now
she's going to have orange again stripes
going through her hair. It's going to be
a mess no matter what. I just realized
I'm supposed to be telling you [music]
guys how to do things better. Okay.
Well, don't do this.
>> It took us a really long time to
separate the regular part and the
raccoon tail.
>> Don't do this. I always see you guys do
the whole I'm not going to do the root
first method thing because the heat from
the scalp makes the hair lighten faster
thing. Great. Love to see it, but then
you do it completely wrong every single
time. I basically have never seen
anybody do it right. Maybe a little bit,
but not really that well. She didn't let
her hair get blonde yet. Guys, you need
to let your hair get really light blonde
before we then go in on the root because
the root will pick up no matter what.
It'll just go. It's burning hot in
there.
>> I did delete that part out because it
was Oh, honey, [music] it took forever.
Like, I'm pretty sure I bleached some
parts of the raccoon stripe, but it's
whatever.
And this is where my boyfriend comes in.
He helped me section the back. He also
did help me [music] bleach some of the
parts, but I honestly did not really
trust him.
>> All right. Well, we colored our whole
forehead. You guys are so lucky you
don't have sensitive skin. I say this
every single week. I know. I'm sorry,
but I put a little drop of bleach on my
forehead the other day. I had a full-on
rash on my forehead for 3 days. Where
are my sensitive skin girls at? Say hi.
Introduce yourself below. I would love
to say hi back. The front's looking
lighter for sure, but I don't know what
happened to the foils. The foils were a
great idea. You have very dark hair. We
need that heat. Please put them back on.
It will help add heat to the strand so
that this hair gets nice and light.
>> But, you know, I still love them though.
But I Yeah, I'm I don't know. Also, I'm
so sorry [music] if you guys keep
hearing like those squeaky noises. It's
mainly because I'm in bed right now
editing [music] this, so don't mind it.
>> Okay, so clearly now we're going on the
back of the head and we're doing the
same thing we did in the front. Okay,
great that we're doing the back. Not a
problem. The bad part is we're putting
this all in at the same time. I hope
she's going to rinse out the front
before the back because the front is
going to be done soon. Not soon, but
like before the back is done. I'm just
not getting it. Why didn't we do the
back previously? I guess cuz she needed
her boyfriend to help her section her
hair. I feel like that is the least
difficult part of everything. But all
right, she's getting that bleach in
there. Her using her hands is making me
very, very happy. Now I'm going back
with my raccoon [music] tail because
like I said earlier, it literally would
not lift at all. Like no matter how much
bleach I did, still wouldn't [music]
lift. But it's okay. I still liked it
though. I took out the other blonde
parts in the front and letting them just
air dry and doing the back of my head.
All right. While I was bleaching that
part, I let my boyfriend bleach the back
of my hair. He did a really good job,
honestly.
>> Okay, the front is rinsed out. And I
will say it's looking light enough for
blue to go over.
That's great. I'm really happy that
worked out. I don't know how the that
worked out, but it did. And she's going
to do the back hopefully the same
because again, that somehow worked out
in her favor. So, let's just replicate
it, right? That's the easy part. Just
replicate it, please. And this is where
we messed up. So, unfortunately, my
boyfriend did not really do a good job
of sectioning my hair and the back of my
head was kind of messed up. So, next
clip is me fixing it. Thank you,
>> guys. So, it's currently later in the
day. I just got off from work. So, we
have a problem.
>> Oh, [screaming]
it's blue. So, the plan is that I am
just going to dye [music] the back of my
head black and just have these pieces in
the front. And that's really it.
>> Okay. So, here's me dyeing the back of
my hair black. Back [music] to normal.
>> Sorry, there's so much going on. I Where
did she This is like I This is a
different person than we just saw. I
mean, I'm kidding. It's actually the
same person, but does this not look like
a different person all of a sudden? Holy
[ __ ] Hair can really change people,
huh?
>> Um, my sister did help me. I did have to
not record that part, but you know, we
got it done. All right. And I am doing
my raccoon tail once again.
>> I'm glad she's covering up the back
because I feel like the front already
looks pretty cool and I'm digging it,
but the back, I don't know. I don't
think the blonde was needed back there
>> because, you know, as you can tell, it
[music] is still not light enough.
[gasps] What a great life.
>> Okay, so the issue she has there is that
the blue is bleeding into the blonde.
Whenever you put a really light color
next to a really dark color, you're
going to get bleeding. So, keeping this
[ __ ] tail nice and bright and [music]
white on those lines is never going to
happen. The moment you wash your hair,
they're going to either turn blue or
black. And uh yeah, good luck with that.
That's why I always say hair extensions
for [ __ ] tails.
>> This is me putting purple shampoo on on
my orangey, very toned hair. Um I did
not realize until after I made this
video that I actually needed orange, not
wait, not orange, blue shampoo. But it's
okay. A girl can dream.
>> Why do we tone with purple? [ __ ]
shampoo. If you really want to use a
purple thing that's not made for this
exact application, then just use purple
conditioner. You might as well condition
your hair while you tone it, right? I
don't know why we want to put
surfactants on our hair while we tone
it. Makes no sense to me. B, there are
semi-permanmanent colors that are made
to tone blonde, like platinum 5minute
top coat. C. Do you want this to stick?
I would definitely use a permanent toner
in this case [music] because we want to
kick out some of that yellow. Mix it
with a 20 volume. It'll really be like
boom, get that yellow out and deposit a
lot of that blue purple pigment so your
hair turns nice and bright.
>> Guys, it's been like at least like an
hour since I've had this in. Probably
like maybe two and a half. But um I'm
finally going to wash all this out
[music] and I hope that I get the like
the vision that I want. And I really
hope that this is the last wash because
I've already [music] washed my hair like
seven times and I know that's not good
for you. So, I don't know why we didn't
overapply the blue cuz it looks a little
bit faded and I don't like faded [music]
blue. I want it nice and punchy. Okay.
>> Hey guys. Okay, [screaming] so I went
out with my friends and I did some
errands so I couldn't finish the video.
But here is the final look of my hair. I
would say though it isn't like the best
like of my work though. Unfortunately, I
got rid of the blonde because it [music]
was not working out for me like at all.
The blonde was so orange and it like
wasn't getting any lighter with purple
shampoo or toner. But don't worry, I'm
pretty sure I'll do a better job once I
retouch it.
>> Um, I have a lot of thoughts and
opinions. A, I wish she kept the blonde
in the front. She needs to bleach it
again and she needs to tone it again
with the right toner. That's a B, the
blue looks a little washed out, but C, I
will say I love this look on you. The
blue is really fun. The coail is fun,
even though it's very faded and a little
bit um undiscoverable and a little bit
hard to see, but I can't help but to
just love that transformation from that
really dark, just simple hair to this
really out there blue look. I mean, this
fits your personality and your vibe way
better. There's definitely a whole bunch
of issues going on. Trying to ignore
those issues, look past them because
overall, I think this is a much more fun
look for you, and I think it fits your
personality and your vibe way better.
So, because of all that, I'll give you a
rating of a three. I just decided that I
want my hair to be more blonde. So, what
do you say we do that together? What do
you say WE DO THAT TOGETHER? HUH? WHAT
DO YOU SAY WE DO THAT? WHAT do you say
we make me blonder? I have a highlight
cap at home calling my name. I just got
my haircut and I am feeling impulsive. A
highlight mother cap. Is that what I
heard you just say? A highlight cap. I
will be honest with you. I was about to
say, "Oh, [ __ ] This is going to go
horribly wrong." But sometimes I have
seen men use highlight caps and it
actually looks fire. Which one will he
be? I don't know. We're going to find
out. Obviously,
>> I already have some highlights in my
hair, but I want more. Hey, hey, hey,
hey, [clears throat] hey. Also, I just
went and got [music] my haircut. My
hairdresser complimented my highlights.
So, if you're going to say, "Lighton,
don't do this. Leighton, you're going to
burn off your hair. Leighton dha
knows what he's doing."
>> My hairdresser complimented [music] my
highlights. She said she thought they
look good. [screaming]
>> Oh my god. Wow.
>> I still have bleach at home. I need
developer, a shower cap to put
underneath my highlight cap that I
already have at home, which I used wrong
last time. I didn't realize until now,
but it's fine. Anyway, I just want to be
more blonde. I could get the premixed
lightener, which makes it a lot easier,
but I already have bleach, so I'm
probably just going to get developer.
Also need to buy toner. I'm not going to
use 30 volume because [music] I might
have to do multiple rounds. So, I'm
going to do 20. And also, because I've
already done it one time, if I catch any
[music] bleached hair, I want to make
sure it's gentle. We'll see how it turns
out. Oh, look where he is. The
motherland where you can buy Xondo. You
can also buy it at xmodhair.com,
ulta.com, Amazon, and so many others.
Everything will be linked below for you.
>> This is what I used when I tone my hair,
so I just bought a big one so I don't
have to buy it again. 20 volume
developer. Last time I used 30 volume
and I had to bleach my hair twice to get
it light enough. However, my hair was
previously colored. Like when I did this
last time, my hair was colored a really
dark color. So, I feel like this will be
fine. I would prefer not to fry at all.
Next, we have shower caps. This is to go
underneath the highlighting cap so I
don't get spots on my head. And last but
not least, Wella Color Charm T14. This
is a blue ash toner and blue cancels out
orange. [music] Right now I'm struggling
with I don't know if I want to start it
right now because it's a whole process
and I don't really know that I'm up for
it. Okay, well I agree 20 volume should
be great for you. That should definitely
lighten your hair because you have fine
thin hair which I feel like every time I
say that I'm dragging somebody, but I I
also have fine thin hair. It's not a bad
thing. Sorry, I just needed to give a
disclaimer there cuz I feel like that's
really shady sounding. Fine thin hair
lightens really quickly and really
easily. Nowadays, I usually use 10
volume for my highlights, but you can
also use 20. And T14. I mean, hopefully
you get your hair light enough to use
T14. Except I don't know cuz you're
supposed to get toner after you lighten
your hair once you know what color it
turned out as. You know, that's how it
works. Also, I'm kind of nervous about
how I'm going to get the back of my head
cuz last time I couldn't really do it.
First off, we're going to start with
this.
This is what Google said to do.
[laughter]
This is what Google said to do if you
already used your highlighting cap once
and you're going to use it again. So,
that's what I did.
>> I don't know how that's going to work.
How are you going to punch holes through
the shower cap? I don't understand. He's
putting the shower cap underneath the
frosting [music] cap. I've never seen
that before. Not once in my life.
>> Now, I don't know if I should brush my
hair down and if I should do like this.
You think I should do like this? I think
maybe
>> put the frosting cap on your hair in the
way that you would wear your hair or
else you're going to end up with [music]
weird highlights everywhere that you
don't want, which you're gonna end up
with anyways, but you know,
>> I forgot it covers my ears. I can't hear
out of it. I want to be like pretty
blonde. That's the goal here. We'll see
where we get. I'm going to try to put my
glasses on while I have this on. Okay,
I'm probably going to sit in front of
the TV and do this cuz I can't see good.
Let me see if I mastered my [music]
technique.
Oh, wow. That was such a tiny. Okay, so
technique has not been mastered. Maybe I
should have got a bigger one.
>> You have a shower cap blocking the
needle. I'm not getting what you're
doing. Well, that one kind of a big one.
My hair looks a lot longer than I
thought it would. Okay, let's try again.
Uh, that's that's more like it. This
one's way too big. Oh.
Oh, it's stuck. If it looks bad, I'll
just die. It's not going to look bad,
though. This looks like I look like a
little baby.
>> [laughter]
>> I'm going to cut it to me hunched over
watching House of the Dragon.
>> If only you knew how long we were
sitting there. We were sitting there for
such a long time. Also, I have to get my
me my Mimi to help me with the back.
Okay, he got all the hair through the
shower cap. I don't know how he did
that. I mean, it will definitely help
with the bleeding. I feel like that
extra layer of protection will be nice,
but I feel like it's also unnecessary if
you just don't push down on the holes
when you're applying color on top of
these frosting caps. Just be gentle with
it and don't push down on it or you will
get a bunch of bleed marks and you will
die.
>> We now have to NYX the bleach. Also, I
think the bleach has to go on like
really fast as soon as you mix it cuz I
think it stopped working. I think it
only works for 30 minutes at a time and
then it just damages your hair. Do not
use higher than 20 volume developer on
scalp application. [music] This is about
to start smelling crazy. Oh, it does.
All right, we're mixing up the bleach
and we're about to apply to the hair. I
am worried about how much hair is coming
out of this cap. Like that is half of
his head that it's going to be blonde.
It's going to be more like nearly the
entire head is colored like mine rather
than highlights. Nothing to it but to do
it. Should I do my hair back like this?
I really don't feel like talking right
now. I'm going to do this and then I'll
come back. I really feel like I just
need to lock in right now.
>> I love all of you say the same thing.
Like you start coloring your hair,
you're like I can't talk. It is so [ __ ]
hard to talk while doing hair color. And
appreciate your hairdresser for them
talking while they do it because there's
a lot of mental activity going on. It's
not just like a cookie cutter easy thing
to just do color. It's like you're
thinking and then you're also thinking
about their conversation at the same
time. It's a talent, I'll tell you.
Especially filming videos and having a
client and doing your hair at the same
time. I don't like it. It hurts. If I
have a couple dog hairs in my hair,
it'll be all right. It's not the end of
the world. Okay, I don't care. Let's
just do this really bad. We haven't much
time. I'm gonna make sure it's real
saturated after I get a good base layer
because I don't want I don't want to
process unevenly.
>> I don't feel like talking. I'm not going
to talk.
Just going to get real good in there.
So, he's doing what I said I didn't want
to see, which is push down really hard
and really get that brush in there. I
don't want to see that when you're doing
cap highlights. I want to see that when
you're doing everything else mostly, but
not this. Not this at all. This will
make bleed marks, but he does have a
shower cap underneath, so I think we're
okay. At least he's fully saturating the
hair like a lot.
>> I think it's supposed to be 30 minutes.
We should go I look. We should go check
though, just to be sure.
>> The word that I really like to hear
right there is check. Always check.
Okay. You don't need to rinse it off
just at 30 minutes because it was 30
minutes. It's not like hair color. Hair
color and bleach are different things.
Hair color, there's a set amount of time
you leave it on for, say 30, 35 minutes
[music] or so. Whereas bleach, there's
no set timing. There is a max time
typically, but there is no minimum. As
long as it's light.
>> How long should you let bleach sit with
20 volume developer?
20 to 30 minutes. Okay. See, that's
exactly what I said. We don't like we
don't want to do that. We don't we want
to check the hair strand. We want to
uncover the hair strand from the bleach
and go. Is it done? No. Okay. I leave it
on for longer. Is it done? Yes. I don't
leave it on for longer. We're putting a
cap over the head. That is great news.
That is going to help keep the heat in
while the hair is processing so it can
get lighter and brighter faster.
>> You have 2 minutes and 50 seconds left
on your 30inut timer.
>> I'm [music] going to rinse. We have to
do a round two. It's yellow.
>> Macaroni hair. Okay. See this? This is
not light enough at all. You can just
put more bleach over bleach. You can
just reapply. The lightener just
oxidized and it just lost its power. You
can just put more on top. You don't have
to take it off. This just adds a whole
another step.
>> Well, it's kind of close, but we
definitely need a round two. Well, I'll
try to do a better job of application
next time. We got to blow dry my hair.
>> It's definitely orange. So, round two is
a great idea cuz once you take this cap
off, you're stuck with those highlights.
You can't redivide the hair. You can't
only color the highlights again. You
have to get it right this time. And this
time needs to be the last time you color
them. Otherwise, you're going to end up
mixing the brown in with the lighter
pieces, and then you have a whole mess.
You just can't do it again. Okay. All
right. We're on round two. We're
applying the 20 volume again, which is a
good idea. I'm not hating this. This is
what we're looking like before blow
drying. There are a couple pieces in the
front that are still pretty golden that
I might have to like touch up later. I
don't know. Oh, I blonde. It looks so
ew, Brooks, you're smacking lips.
[clears throat]
>> Super paranoid. You're going to be mad
cuz something's not going to be right.
>> I'm eating watermelon. Oh, I knew to
start this late in the day because this
is taking all day. I feel like uh I feel
like I look like Fred from Scooby-Doo
Halloween costume. Okay, so far I don't
hate the blonde. It's definitely yellow.
It's definitely very blonde. Like I
said, it was going to be very very
blonde. And that's okay. I don't hate
it. It's just very uneven. It's like the
only the top of his head is blonde, but
the sides and I don't know what's going
on. The back everything [music] is just
there's brown all around. I don't get
it. And now we're going to tone with
permanent color, which is going to
lighten his natural hair. So, he's going
to be left with roots that grow in over
time on his entire head. Let us begin.
We're going to be mixing. I don't feel
like doing all that zoom in and stuff.
Is it okay if I don't? I feel like I
look really short and hunchback. Like a
really short hunchback old lady right
now. How many ounces is this? This is
I'm just going to do grams again. I
usually just do the whole thing just so
I can really get my head saturated. It's
I'm just going to do it.
42 oz. I mean 42 g. Whoa. Well, I can do
that math in my head.
Alexa,
>> no, I'm just kidding. No, I am kidding.
I can do that in my head. It's just
going to take me a second.
>> 4 and 2 is four. So, 84. I told you I
could do it. I think I have this
calcula. Every hair stylist ever. Okay.
He's using the T14, which is a horrible,
disastrous, diabolical choice for toner.
Use a semi-permanmanent toner next time
or a semi-permanmanent toner that does
not lift. This is the time where you
pick it up and you just put it on and
you comb it through. I say this every
week of my life.
>> It's just getting everywhere. This is Oh
my god, I have a cut on my hand and it's
burning so bad.
>> This is the most chaotic toning
experience I've ever watched in my life.
[music] I mean, it should be easy. Throw
it on.
>> I'm kind of just about to go in with my
hands and go rogue and go crazy. I want
to make sure it's real evenly coated.
Okay, Alexa, set a timer for 15 minutes.
>> Okay, the toner is finally put on his
head. We're going to find out what the
results are now.
>> It's now the next day. I haven't styled
my hair, so just ignore that. Also, the
goal wasn't for it to be as silvery as
it is. I wanted it more neutral, but
it'll fade and it'll be all right.
>> Okay, the video's not over. Hold on.
There's still something left. I'm
skimming over and I'm seeing another
cap. I was just about to say that his
hair looks great and [laughter] I'm
obsessed and it looks perfect. Like I I
mean it looks very very good for our
little DIY highlight moment now. Is it
the point where we're going to go wrong?
Like are we just going to do something
more? Why are we doing something more?
You also got the toner right? I don't
know how that worked out for you, but
but yes, go you.
>> We're going to try and jaren dish up.
We're going to try and darken this up
and add some dimension to it.
>> Why? You wanted highlights. Now your
hair is highlighted. It almost looks
nearly the same as what you started
with. And now we're going to add the low
lightss back. So, we're going to go
right back to where we started. So,
we're doing a highlight cap, obviously.
So, okay. Wow, I can't see past my
bangs. Wait, do people not put the Do
people usually pull this farther back on
their head? That is a lot smaller than
what I did my highlights. My highlights
were real chunky. So, [music] and I'm
trying I feel like that's not enough
hair. I feel like that's not going to do
anything. That's why I did it more up
here last time. Um, should I start over?
I wanted it to be Okay, I think I'm
going to start over. And I'm pulling
this more towards the front because I
have boy hair and I want to make sure
I'm catching the highlight cuz really
the front is where I want the most.
Okay, I think I've done enough. I'm
going to comb them out. We have to hope
that my hair doesn't turn green cuz
that's what I'm worried about. Okay,
your hair should be fine cuz you're not
going that much darker than you already
are. I don't think unless you're doing
like black low lightss, which I really
hope you're not. That would not look
cute. About a level six low light would
look really good on you. Something kind
of more like a neutral ash tone would
look really nice.
>> Fingers crossed [music] that this makes
my hair look more natural. If not, oh
well. I feel like this is the easiest
way to apply it without pressing it into
the cap, which is what it advised not to
[music] do when doing this method of low
light.
>> Okay, I don't know what he's using, but
I'm glad that he only took out a few
strands of hair. Like, he didn't do as
much as he did with the highlight. So,
this is just going to add like a little
bit of dimension without completely
changing the look. All right, now we
[music] process.
>> I did not need all that color. You see
how much I have left?
>> I wish I knew what he was lowlighting
with so bad.
>> Well, I just discovered I accidentally
bought permanent color instead of
demi-permanent color. Kind of bummed out
about that. I just assumed that all of
the creams [music] were demi-permanent.
I didn't think that they were permanent.
I didn't think all of them were
permanent. Worst part is it really
doesn't even matter like if it's [music]
permanent or demi-permanent that they're
both going to wash out. Okay, he can
definitely use permanent in this case.
I'm not too worried about it. He's not
going that much darker. You can
definitely use D permanent, but
permanent might last a little bit longer
in this scenario.
>> This is where we're at. I think I'm
[music] going to rinse now.
>> All right, enough of this [ __ ]
Let's see the final result.
>> This is what my hair looks like. Does it
look that different? No, not really,
honestly. Like, I kind of did that for
no reason. But it's okay cuz at least
you got entertainment out of it. I had
to buy some Ollex purple shampoo because
my hair kept getting really yellow. Um,
which honestly means I should probably
use a different toner, but uh problem
for a different time. It is very soft,
actually. So, that's how you know I did
it right cuz my hair isn't fried off.
>> Okay, [laughter] his hair looks exactly
the same as it did before. I'm happy
personally because I liked it, but I
think that he wanted it darker. It
didn't work out. I'm so sorry. But I do
really love the look. I like the blonde
on you a lot. I feel like it compliments
your skin tone, your lighter eyebrows,
your light eyelashes. I think it just
looks really good on you. So, that's
awesome. It looks beautiful, but we went
through a lot and we didn't need to do
those low lightss at all. So, because of
that, I'll give you a monometer rating
of a four.
>> I feel like I've completely lost myself
this pregnancy. I don't do anything with
my hair anymore. I barely ever put
makeup on. I don't dress how I used to.
I'm going to go to Sainsburries. I'm
going to buy a hair color remover, some
bleach, a color, and let's reinvent
myself again. I'm 30 on Sunday. I'm
coming to the end of my pregnancy, and I
want to feel like me again. So, let's
go.
>> Okay. I mean, there's a lot going on
with her hair already. There are red
roots and black ends. I don't know if
that was on purpose or the color faded
kind of weird, but go off. It's
something. Um, she's going to remove the
color though. So, let's see what we're
doing. I don't know what color we're
going to 100% gray coverage, permanent
hair color. Okay. Orange [music]
color, gray,
copper color.
>> Right. So, this is what we are dealing
with. It's like a readyy [music] brown
on the top, little bit of red here,
black on the ends.
>> So before she starts, I'm envisioning
for me, myself, and I for her blonde. I
want to see her blonde so bad. I think
it would look really, really great on
her. Like a natural blonde tone would
look beautiful. But if she wants to have
some fun with it, like a pink would be
really cool on her. I don't know if I'm
loving the red or the black.
>> This is what we are starting with. Let's
see how it goes. Tang film is on. I have
heated it up just as they is advised.
[music] So, let's leave it on for 60
minutes and I'll be back. So, this is it
after the first round. Definitely a lot
of lighter on the root and very patchy
on the sides. Still a lot of black.
>> Um, okay. I don't know what happened
there. Either you didn't apply it evenly
or it was just the worst color remover
ever because I don't know why that
didn't lift out more. It really should
have done more. It did not remove the
black and we really needed that to
happen. There is so much patchiness now.
It looks worse. Sorry.
>> So, I'm going to go in again. If that
doesn't work, I think I'm going to have
to do a [music] bleach bath. Round two.
I don't have any hopes for this, but we
will see. Round two. It's definitely a
lot lighter on the top. Ends aren't
budging, which is what I expected as
there is a lot of black dye on there.
So, I'm going to go to the shop. I'm
going to get some bleach and I'm going
to do a bleach bath. Focus it on the
ends. Bring [snorts] it up to the root.
>> First of all, it looks a lot better. It
looks lighter now, for sure. We just
lifted out a whole lot of artificial
color. The second thing she said,
though, is what makes me want to [ __ ]
die. A bleach bath. Why a bleach bath?
This is not the instance to use a bleach
bath. Stop the bleach bath, guys. You
heard bleach bath one time and everybody
just ran for it. They're like, I'm
coming for you. She needs to actually
bleach her hair now, not bleach bath it.
The bleach is on. As you can see, it is
starting to go orange already. I am
really, really hoping it is not going to
go patchy.
>> We couldn't have done this in a worse
way. We're not only using a bleach bath.
We're also putting this on our entire
head, right on those roots, all at the
same time as the miz and ends. You're
going to get hot roots. And you put
cling wrap all around your head and
squish your hair right down to your
scalp. That's going to really heat up
certain spots of your head and make them
very much brighter than the rest. I've
tried [music] my best to get it
everywhere to get everything saturated.
So fingers crossed.
>> There looks like to be no bleach on the
head. So I don't know where the
saturation happened.
>> This is it after the first bleach bath.
Obviously hot roots. Expected that.
Light brown orangey ready color. Still
lots of black.
>> Now is the time to stop and just go dark
cuz it's not getting any better. It's
actually progressively getting worse as
we keep going on. We now have blonde
roots, red midsections, and black just
painted in random [music] areas. Put it
back to how it was. And just make it all
dark. I mean, this is just where are we
going from here? And if you knew hot
roots were going to happen, then why do
we do it like that
>> on the ends? So, I think obviously I'm
going to leave the roots and the mids.
And I'm just going to have to bleach the
ends. So, I actually done a bleach this
morning. Still patchy. I just want to go
over them dark bits. And I did miss a
patch here as I did run out of some
bleach. So, I'm just going to do a
bleach bath.
I one more round. Time to put the
[music] color on.
>> I'm not even going to say anything,
guys. I'm not going there. I'm not
talking about bleach baths again.
>> Okay, so this is after my third bleach
bath, and that is my last one. They are
so broken, [music] but I expected it
because I bleach my hair all the time.
>> God damn, that is fried. [ __ ] That is
mushed. That is just That has definitely
been through some [ __ ] over and over and
over and over again. And the front it
looks pink. And we have not gotten into
a better position than we began with
really. I mean, it's lighter for sure,
but it is still crazy. I mean, if you're
going to go deep red, great position to
be in. She's trying to go copper. We
need to lighten those ends more. Another
two shades before we can go copper. The
top, I'll take it. even though it's
spotty.
>> But it's that a good color that I can
put the copper over it. I am going to
give it a cut first just to get the dead
ends off. Okay, so I've cut it. I might
need Jake just to sort the back out. But
for a quick at home cut,
>> we done got rid of the half the head of
hair. And honestly, she needed that bad.
Now, if you would please do some face
trimming layers, I would absolutely love
that because those blonde ends need to
be trimmed. And that's the way you do it
while retaining [music] length. Okay,
please do it and add layering everywhere
so that we can get rid of more of these
dead ends and we can retain length.
>> Okay, so about 5 minutes in of me
putting it on my whole head, it really
started burning up,
>> right? Okay, so the reason why your
head's burning is because you have just
bleached it three times in a row and
done color remover. Your scalp is raw.
That is just stripped of all nutrients
and goodness. I mean, it is going to
hurt for the next week, okay? Don't do
that. just let it rest and let those
oils build back up on your scalp and let
your scalp just heal and then we can put
color on it. I would really just
recommend you stop.
>> I mean, I think it would have been a
really really pretty color. Um, but
obviously it hasn't [music] taken
because it wasn't on long enough. I do
have this one that I bought in the shop
as a backup.
Okay, so now we're putting more
permanent color over her disintegrating
hair. That is mush. and we're putting
permanent color over it, which means
it's going to lift and deposit color.
Lifting is always damaging. We don't
want to do that unless we have to,
unless the hair is very dark, okay? But
we're just trying to make the hair
darker. So, we don't want to lift
anything. So, stop demi or
semi-permanent color would be the right
choice here. And I would definitely
choose semi because we need those
excellent conditioning properties like
bomb booster, hyaluronic acid,
plant-based protein, and oils all on our
hair while we color so our hair feels
better postc coloring. Okay. And here is
the result. She put that box color over
it and clearly it made the roots very
orange and the rest just turned a
brighter red somehow some way. It looks
kind of purposeful. I don't love it. I
don't hate it. I'm undecided what I
think about it. I think I just know the
journey of getting here and it was
really [ __ ] up and crazy that it's
making this final look just look like
just [music] wasn't supposed to be like
that. You know, I think it was supposed
to be like all one color and it's just
absolutely not like that. And it
definitely has a lot of flaws, but it's
wearable and it's kind of cool. And for
that on the monometer, I gave you a two.
I guess it's okay.
>> You are now part of my hair journey.
Let's give a little recap, a little hair
lore. This is the last hair color that
you saw me doing here [music] on this
channel. My hair has been fading
beautifully. I really am into this
color. I really, really love it.
>> Okay, no shade. The color is a little
bit off to me personally. It's giving
lavender gray mixed with brassy tones,
which for me, not my personal favorite,
but for you, go off.
>> I just love this journey of me trying to
take my hair from, you know, [music]
doing all fun colors and stuff to this
blonde. But hey, fun colors are not
over, but for now, I just feel like I
want to maintain my blonde hair. 8 weeks
is the perfect time to bleach roots,
especially [music] so you wouldn't have
a lot of trouble because waiting more
than that, that's a recipe for disaster.
>> [music]
>> So, this is the perfect amount of time
for me, uh, you know, to like tackle
these roots.
>> Okay, we're about to bleach her roots.
And what could go wrong, right? We're
going to refresh this color and make
everything nice and bright again. I feel
like a lot of things could go wrong
because bleaching your roots is one of
the hardest things to do yourself when
you're a dull process platinum blonde
like this, or not platinum, but like you
get the point. It's very, very
difficult. You can't see everything. You
risk overlapping, which means damage and
a lot of it. And if you're an old member
here on this channel, you know that the
first step is always going to be oil.
And in case of someone's from Brad Mondu
team is watching this video and you have
the urge to cut out this part just like
you did with my last video. I don't put
oil on my roots. I don't put oil on my
dark hair. I don't put oil on my virgin
hair. I don't put oil on the hair that I
need to bleach. I only [music]
put oil on my blonde parts as a
protective layer. So I'm finished
applying oil all over my hair. And also
there's another part that I remembered.
I am human, y'all. Sometimes I'm clumsy.
>> Okay, she put oil all over her mids and
ends, which is totally fine to do.
Pointless a bit. Believe it or not, oil
is not a deep conditioning treatment.
Once you shampoo your hair, oil comes
out. It does not last. Okay? So, this is
not a treatment. Putting a ton of oil in
your hair doesn't make your hair better.
That's what we have things like bomb
builders for. Those actually make your
hair better even throughout washes. And
something like a hair mask that is used
after you shampoo will make your hair
nice and hydrated and healthier and
shinier between washes. But once you
shampoo it again, all that hydration
comes out again. Builds back those
proteins and those bonds that will help
the overall health of your hair. Not an
oil treatment like this. This is going
to do absolutely nothing because she's
going to wash it out. You know what I
mean?
>> Sometimes I overlap without even
noticing, especially on the crown part,
which is a blind spot for me, even
though I do have a small mirror behind
me to see what I'm doing. And don't get
me wrong, oil is a great finishing
product, but again, once you shampoo, it
comes out.
>> And having oil, especially between, you
know, [music] like this line especially
that splits my dark hair on my blonde
hair really helps with [music] just
protecting my hair because it adds like
this thick layer on my hair. Now, the
second step is sectioning my hair. I am
going to be doing a section right here,
another section right here, and four
sections in the back. I just finished
sectioning my hair. The sections in the
back are lowkey chopped as hell, but you
know, they are sections.
>> [music]
>> Thank you so much for doing four
quadrants.
>> Great job.
>> So, let me mix this. Also, I'm thinking
of adding just a little bit of hint of
[music] 30 volume.
>> 30 volume.
[screaming]
>> I mainly use 20 volume, but I'm thinking
of just adding like a small [music] hint
of 30 volume.
>> Okay. She made a big deal out of using
30 volume in her formula, which I mean I
would have probably used 30 volume in
the entire formula. Clearly something
went really really wrong because she
looks [music] panicked about the 30
volume. Even if you did equal parts 30
and 20, that would only make it a 25
volume, which isn't really that much
different than [music] the 20 volume.
So, I don't know why we're freaking out
about that, but we're going to find out.
>> And when I'm mixing for the back of my
head, I'm probably even adding more 30
volume. This is the amount of developer
that I have here like on my bowl. And
I'm going to add three big spoons like
this one uh to [music] my mix.
One.
Two.
>> What [music] is that?
>> Do not bleach your hair when it's like
freshly washed. I washed my hair 4 days
ago, which means it's in a perfect state
to be bleached right now.
>> So, I know I always say don't wash your
hair the day you bleach it. Technically,
clean hair is the best thing to bleach
because it has nothing on it. It's
completely stripped of all products.
Maybe you need a clarifying treatment.
You're going to get the most pure
results with that. But if you don't want
your scalp to burn and you are okay with
risking it just not being as perfect
with the bleach application, don't wash
your hair before bleaching it. I highly
recommend don't do that. I've done it
many times. It [ __ ] burns. I hate it.
Not for me, but for other people maybe.
>> Let's have a small conversation together
on why this regular root touchup [music]
turned out to be somewhat of a disaster.
I was hella wrong for adding that 30
volume. Like I should not have done
this. Okay, we're starting on the top of
her head, which whatever, fine, I'll
take it. Dividing up the sections like
that is totally fine. What I will say
I'm really [ __ ] excited about is the
fact that she's doing this really
perfectly. She's starting at the bottom
and working her way up in the front
section and she's taking paper [music]
thin slices across the head and they are
perfectly sectioned. It is a beautiful
thing to see truly,
>> especially because you can see clearly
here in these videos that I'm dragging
my bleach down way more than I should.
My bleaching is definitely touching all
the blonde [music] parts. That's called
overlapping, which is one of the lead
causes of breakage to begin with.
>> Okay, if I'm really nitpicking here, and
I agree with everything she's saying,
she is overlapping a bit, but besides
that, see how the sections are kind of
pulled forward. Take the hair strand and
pull it down so it sits perfectly
straight. Otherwise, that existing
blonde hair is going to get into the
bleach if you don't pull a section down
to realign that section with the
previous.
>> And having low iron is no [music] joke.
Oh yeah. What does that have to do with
the fact that you're doing your hair
right now in this specific video? Well,
it has to do with everything. Literally,
because [music] I was genuinely not in
the best shape to be doing any of that.
I wasn't paying attention to when
[music] I started applying bleach on my
hair, which resulted in the bleach uh
being left on my hair more than it
should be. Uh now, I did some
calculation and I left the bleach
[music] for an hour and 15 minutes.
>> I don't think that's a lot of time.
That's actually probably the perfect
amount of time for your very dark
natural hair. I'm not seeing a problem.
You're calling yourself out for a lot of
things, but I'm just seeing a lot of
good being done. Besides the fact that
it's overlapping, which is your biggest
problem.
>> Exactly. On my hair, which is a lot
actually. Those [music] 15 minutes do be
doing a big difference on your hair
integrity, uh, on your hair health and
all that.
>> See that existing blonde is getting all
in that bleach. I just keep seeing it
happen over and over again. [ __ ] And
she's cross-checking. I have never seen
a DIY hair person cross check. This is
beautiful. Cross-checking just means if
you go horizontal with your application,
you go vertical with your check. That
way you make sure you got every single
hairstand. That is so beautiful. I could
cry. There's so many great things going
on. I'm sad that she definitely didn't
have a good result because that voice
over, she's just saying all the [ __ ] she
did wrong because this is looking great
so far.
>> And now I'm going to start with the
second part that I'm going to probably
film in a time lapse. After finishing
the two front [music] sections of my
head, I decided to take a 10-minute
break. I did not feel better after 10
minutes. And then I was like, "Hey,
let's [music] make it a 20inut break."
And I also did not feel better after 20
minutes.
>> My girl is just going through it right
now. I feel you. It's so hard doing
hair. It's so hard doing anything when
you're not feeling well. But like doing
hair, it's a lot of manual labor. It's a
lot of physicality [music]
going on while you do your hair.
Especially yourself. O those arms, that
everything, the mixing, the fumes,
everything sucks. But I will say still,
you're doing a great job. And she's
about to do the whole back section.
>> Kate, let's just start with the back
section of my hair. When I feel tired
after bleaching like the two front
sections, I just washed them. And in the
next day, I did the back sections. Like
it's [music] not by law that you have to
do everything in the same day. Like you
can take a rest. Like if you feel like
you're not well and you're not in the
best shape, you know, don't make it
worse. Don't don't be like me.
>> I agree. If you don't want to do
everything in one day, don't have to do
it like that. You can definitely do
multiple sessions, which a lot of people
do, and it might be better for you if
you have a lot of [ __ ] hair like she
does.
>> But when I tell y'all that I began
seeing sounds
>> Oh, [ __ ] And hearing colors, y'all are
not going to believe how dizzy I was
while I was doing the back section of my
hair to the point I was trying my best
to not show in front of the camera that
I was not feeling well. But I was
filming and I just had to like pull my
together, I guess. I just felt really
awful
>> from that shot right there. I'm seeing
so much [music] overlapping. How did the
bleach make it halfway down your bangs?
What happened there? It was looking
great and then it all of a sudden went
halfway down. What the [ __ ]
>> There's not a lot to tell here. I swear.
Like it's it's a mess. So, I'm fully
done with bleaching [music] my roots.
After half an hour, I'm supposed to wash
this front part and I'm just going to
let the back develop for an extra half
an hour. I'll be back after I finish
washing my hair.
>> Oh no. Okay, let's rinse it out and see
what we got.
>> Hey y'all, it's your favorite Kimmy
ever. Next day, I have good news and I
have bad news. [music] The good news is
there is no random awful brown spotty
parts [music] that I forgot about. The
bad news is
I No,
>> I just have anxiety. Are you sure it's
safe here?
>> Not the breakage. No, babe. You don't
deserve it. you are doing such a good
job. You don't deserve the breakage at
all. Please, oh my god, put it back in
your head.
>> So, after finishing those two front
parts, I [music] become very tired. And
I was like, okay, it's okay. Take 10
minutes. Take more. You can wash this
whenever you feel like it. You can start
in [music] the back whenever. My whole
head is processing and I just have this
one quarter part left. And of course,
since I wasn't seeing what I'm doing,
you know, I accidentally of course have
over overlapped like crazy, [music]
especially in the back. Actually, most
of the breakage, like most of those
snappy parts that you all see, as you
can see, like it's literally from the
back and the in like the crown of my
hair.
>> Wait, how the [music] [ __ ] did it break
off down here? The bleach did not touch
down there.
>> After finishing the last part, I still
don't feel good. Accidentally, the
[music] part in the front processed more
than the back. The part in the front, we
can say that's a confident level eight.
Maybe even some places, it's [music]
like way more lighter. But the back is
like literally very, very warm. Oh,
if the front rinse out at an hour, then
the back needs to be rinsed out in an
hour. What happened here? Or we didn't
remix our bleach. Something went wrong.
>> The solution to an issue like this is
that I should [music] do a second round
of bleach where I tackle only the like
the very warm spotty parts of my hair.
So, I know the method, but I don't trust
myself with the application because even
if I don't look like it, I still don't
feel very okay. [music] And also my hair
does not feel very well and my scalp is
also kind of [music] tingly and
sensitive.
>> Unfortunately for me, I just did it
again. One time my scalp was bleeding
and guess what I did? I bleached it
again because I had no choice. I can't
live unless my hair looks perfect. I
can't do it.
>> So, I had to cut an insane amount of
footage because the application that I'm
doing right here is kind of useless.
Why, you may ask? Great [music]
question. because I out of nowhere for
no apparent reason decided [music] to
change the formula that I trust that I
always use that always works well with
me.
>> Okay, so she is going to leave the
yellow in there, which I obviously hate
that idea, but she doesn't want to
bleach again. And I guess I understand,
but damn, that is yellow. And compared
to the gray end she has, it's like
[sighs]
So I had to cut an insane amount of
footage because the application that I'm
doing right here is kind of [music]
useless. Why, you may ask? Great
question. Because I out of nowhere, for
no apparent reason, decided to change
the formula that I trust, that I always
use, that always works well with me. I
genuinely do not know what possessed
[music] me to do something like that. I
am used to using the hair dye called
Wild Color in the shade 5.11. This is a
dark gray shade and it does wonders when
it comes to covering brassiness, uh,
spotty parts. It evens out your palette.
It's just a great shade that I always
use whenever I bleach my roots because I
don't want to like sacrifice my hair
with multiple rounds of bleach and I
still want to have some type of like
toned out even hair.
>> My girl is going through it like
hardcore. Damn. What I'm hearing right
now is she mixed the darker toner with a
little bit of a lighter toner which made
her roots too light I guess in the end
result. We're going to see. But that
sucks.
>> Those two are not the same color. But I
you're usually okay with that. You're
usually fine with having two-toned hair.
You don't you don't mind this.
>> Ooh, yikes. It is gray and yellow next
to each other now. Ooh. The real way you
fix this is by bleaching again. But
again, she knows that. So, we're going
to guess just do more toner. And the
roots are definitely too light to cover
up that yellow. So, so the second root
toner is going on. And hopefully this
one is much darker. It looks like it's
processing to be very, very, very dark,
like black almost. So, it's definitely
going to cover the yellow. Is it going
to be too dark? Possibly. She's trying
to match her roots to the mids and ends,
which her ends actually have a lot of
yellow in them. So, I don't know why
we're doing this very gray color when
the ends are like a blondish gray, like
a neutraly yellow gray. We're almost
doing too much. We need to put a little
bit of gold in this formula.
>> Real ones know that I have a very
sensitive scalp. So, honestly, with all
this and also, I told you that my hair
does not feel very well. Like my hair
feels okay, but it doesn't feel well.
Like I'm used to [music] it feeling okay
because I've been taking care of it
really well.
>> Another great thing to do right now is
put semi-permanent color all through the
mids and ends [music] to refresh it.
That way it'll perfectly match the top
of her hair. It will pull this look
together so much and make it look
professionally done instead of the roots
being [music] fresh and the ends being 8
weeks old. Every time we do a salon
double process retouch, we are toning
the entire head, not just the roots
again. Because the blonde hair lets go
of that color over time and it oxidizes
into a kind of a neutally yellowy tone
always. So, we need to refresh it with
that ash.
>> My hair does not feel really well. So,
honestly, like I went back and forth.
Should I wait till the 2 months mark so
I can like bleach my roots and fix it or
should I do it now? Will my hair be like
extremely damaged after this? And I was
like, you know what? I'm okay having
damaged hair but not an ugly color.
Anyway guys, genuinely genuinely if the
next video is not the reveal,
>> the next video has to be the reveal or
else.
>> All right, let's see the finished
result.
>> My overall hair is also kind of
suffering. I was able to actually detect
and find out most of my breakage like
where exactly it is. And unfortunately,
it is in very visible parts like my
crown and this area. It was growing
steadily to [music] this point and it
was blending well with the rest of my
hair. But unfortunately with this
transformation, we're kind of back to
ground zero. This is not even top 10
worst thing that happened in the 10
years that I've been dying my hair and
I'm able to hide it very well by just
like you know brushing it with the rest
of the parts or if it was like very very
dramatic type of breakage I I can't
literally change my part like I can like
do that and completely change my part
and like you know and live like that cuz
I did that before when I used to have a
bald spot.
>> Okay, she seems happy with the look. I'm
not as thrilled. I'm glad you covered up
the yellow roots. I dislike the way that
the roots are darker and way different
tone than the mids and ends. Like, I'm
not getting that vibe personally. But
like I said, a refresh on the mids and
ends would really do you well just to
add back some of that ash tone, cancel
out this yellow, and even out the color
palette. And in the future, I would [ __ ]
love to see you platinum blonde. It
would look so cool and so good on you.
Like even just an ashy tone [music] very
blonde look instead of this gray look. I
would be like, "Ah,
yes." But I get it. It's sort of a vibe.
Not exactly for me, but for you, go off.
And for all that, plus the breakage, I'm
going to give you a three on the motto
meter. Make sure to check out
