Video summary
In a hard-fought match at the Vitality Stadium, Everton secured a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth thanks to a late equalizer, though the performance was far from ideal. Jordan Pickford delivered a solid display between the posts with four saves, earning a rating of 70, while Jarrad Branthwaite continued his gradual return to form despite not being at full capacity yet. However, the defense struggled significantly in the second half, particularly due to tactical issues involving Jacob Murphy and Michael Keane, who were criticized for their lack of pace and positional discipline. The team conceded a goal that exposed these defensive frailties, highlighting the urgent need for a dedicated right-back to resolve the current complications within the backline.
The midfield and attacking line showed mixed form, with James Garner appearing unfit and struggling to maintain his usual high pass completion rate due to fatigue. Harrison Armstrong played a significant role but was noted for lacking the necessary defensive discipline to sit in front of the defense, leaving the team vulnerable to counter-attacks. Keane Lewis-Potter stood out as one of the more positive figures with a rating of 74, showing great willingness to break lines and create chances, although he missed a clear penalty opportunity. Conversely, Allan Sayyadmanesh faded towards the end of the game despite accurate passing, and George Elokobi managed only a respectable first half before disappearing in the second period after receiving a booking for fouling an opponent who was already on a yellow card.
Tierno Ballo received a low rating of 60 because he missed several high-quality chances to score a hat-trick, including one where he failed to slot the ball into an open net and another where he allowed the goalkeeper to make a save after beating his man. The manager's decision-making also drew scrutiny, particularly regarding the long playing time given to Harrison Armstrong and the lack of interest shown in late substitutes like Carlos Alcaraz and Brennan Johnson, who contributed little on the pitch. Hayden Hackney was praised for his immediate impact off the bench with excellent ball usage and pass accuracy, becoming the only substitute who offered a genuine threat during the final stages of the match.
Ultimately, David Moyes received a rating of 75 not because of an outstanding tactical masterclass, but because he managed to salvage a point from what was described as a horrendous situation involving player fitness issues and defensive errors. The draw leaves Everton with lingering concerns about their squad depth and form, especially in the second half, setting the stage for a potentially turbulent period ahead. With the transfer window still open and key players like Michael Keane facing questions over his future role, the coming days are expected to be critical as the club navigates these challenges to avoid further decline.

Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the player
ratings for Bournemouth 1 Everton 1.
Everton getting a late goal
to earn a point at the Vitality Stadium.
Probably deserved for their first half
performance, but
the least Let's have the better about
the second half performance, which I
thought was
pretty awful. Don't forget I'll be using
the Finanalysis app to give my player
ratings. Don't forget you can download
the app. It is the link in this in the
description and the QR code is on the
screen. If you want to download it, do
your player ratings as well. Select your
team before the games as well. Get
involved with the polls and and all the
comments. It's social media for football
fans basically and Everton have
obviously got their own dedicated
section as well. So, make sure if you
want to get off those also other social
networks, which are
obviously getting a little bit crap,
to come and join Finanalysis. It is
free. Check it out. Download it. Use our
link and see if you like it or not. So,
let's get into it.
Here we go.
So, Jordan Pickford um
made four saves in the game. Um some big
punches as well. Thought he had a decent
game. There was a couple of times where
maybe his punches weren't amazing, but
um
the goal he conceded obviously took a
deflection off Mykolenko and took it in.
So,
um
yeah, I thought he had a decent game.
So, I'll give Jordan Pickford a 70.
70. Good, which is good.
Jarrad Branthwaite again,
um I think Jarrad's like sort of easing
his way back into the in into the
season.
Obviously missed the game midweek
>> [snorts]
>> um as part of the obviously the plan to
make sure that
we look after him as best we can. Um I
still think he's not quite at 100% yet.
But he's just he's you know, he's doing
he's doing it in his own time, to be
honest. So, I thought I thought he
played
well. He had a couple of little little
moments, but nothing really uh to write
home about. 11 defensive uh
contributions, one out of one tackles.
Um
one out of three [snorts]
ground jewels and one out of two aerial
jewels. So,
probably could have done a little bit
better than he's done. But as I said, I
feel like he's just easing his way back
into the team and um
he's not quite at his own best level
yet, but obviously
still a very good player and with the
ball um
gives us a slightly different dimension.
So, I'm going to give Jared a 68
[snorts]
for today. Next some Tarky, who um
yeah. Obviously he scored the late goal,
but probably the reason why we conceded
our goal as well. It's that ball over
the top. It's that getting caught on his
heels, which is a major problem. It's
the problem that a lot of Everton means
um [snorts]
have already obviously spotted and would
like to see Jacob Bryan in the team for.
Um
His actual defensive numbers were really
good. He won nine out of 11 jewels
today. And
in in general his numbers are good, but
the problem is is that it's that one
mistake, isn't it? It's that lack of
pace. If an opposition team can just
play a ball over the top and catch you
out, then it's a problem. Um
you know, I for me I think
I think
I don't I'm not sure if Jake's the
answer
the long-term answer. I I'm just not
sure if he is. Doesn't mean he isn't
he is or he isn't. I'm just not sure if
he is.
I think Everton needed to bring in
another real quality center back this
summer.
And they just haven't done that.
So, we are where we are. The manager's
obviously unsure on J. He thought at
right back he was laying in his state,
but no one wants him at right back and
he doesn't want to play right back.
And really last season he should have
been laying in his state at center back,
but because the club have not brought a
right back in, we've got this
complication. So,
um
it's just been all about bad timing for
J really.
Um
But to talk like he's there to say that
the goal, I think well, obviously it was
down to him, but obviously it didn't
just go in straight away, but but
obviously it's got He took his goal
really, really well. He took his goal
really well it really well. So, for that
I'm going to give him
a 70.
He got the goal at the end of the day.
Um Mykolenko
had had some good moments and some bad
moments. A couple of huge blocks at 1-0.
Um
but then on the other hand there was one
where they were breaking through and he
just
he went to stop them and just got
completely outclassed, didn't he?
Um
So,
a typical game for him.
Won
four out of seven aerial jewels and one
out of three ground jewels.
Um [snorts]
those two blocks were sort of like the
big moments, I think, for me.
Um
But
I still
I still don't believe,
personally,
that he's good enough. And now we're
sending Astbury on loan, but obviously I
don't think Astbury is ready, but are we
going to bring another left back in to
challenge him?
Obviously there's links to him, links to
Bard I think it is in France.
But are we going to do that to challenge
him and push him? I don't know. But um
so, today I would give him
a 65 for today's performance. Meal and
roll,
um
I thought he looked a little bit ragged
at times today, Meulensteen. He
obviously He obviously got took off.
It's things he's going to have these
days. He's not a right back. Will we get
a right back in the next few days?
Who knows?
Um
but
certainly it's it's not
Um he won four out of seven ground
jewels, didn't win any
either of his aerial jewels, which is a
bit mad. Um
I think he just as I said gets caught
out positionally. There was one in the
first half where the ball was coming to
him and he just completely took his eye
off it and went out and it was sort of
similar to the one that nearly gave
Preston one of their best chances on the
other night.
Um
It's an he's a he's a willing runner.
He'll He'll run all day for you. He'll
tackle all day for you, but
we'll have to wait and see whether he is
a right back ball.
Today
I just didn't think he was at it, so I'd
give him a
60 for today.
Um James Garner
definitely not fit.
But
trying to trying to do a job. And as I
said in my starting 11 show, if he'd
done an hour and then Hayden Hackney
come on and finish the rest of the game.
That to me made sense. Two players who
are not fit getting one game out of
them.
Um which again is not ideal. Um but I
just didn't think he looked sharp at all
today. Just didn't think he looked
didn't think he looked at it at all. Um
pass completion was
86%, which is below what he normally
does. Way below really. He's normally
around 93, I think. Um
Won three out of five ground jewels,
which is a bit typical for him, but just
wasn't at it at all. Just And that's
fitness. That just comes down to
fitness. We know he's a good player, but
that just comes down to fitness. He just
wasn't on it today.
Um
but it was a it's another, you know,
another half an hour another 60 minutes
in the tank, isn't it? For him, so uh
he'll improve on that, but
I think my my issue is that we just
don't have someone in there who's like
Idrissa Gueye, Nordsgaard, obviously,
will sit in front of the back four, but
none of the midfielders we've got on
understand how to sit positionally.
They're all over the place. They're just
chases all over the place. Um
Gana, I would give a
63 for today. Harrison Armstrong,
obviously the person who was on
everyone's lips before the game. Um
Again, he did all he did all right, but
without being amazing. And I just As I
said, I'm I don't know if
I don't know if
they're all the sort of same kind of
players that they
there's there's not enough discipline, I
don't think, in that midfield. There's
not someone who co-
In the last couple of games in the
Premier League, we've been left quite
open for the opposition to run through
us.
And that's because we don't have a
player in there who either sits or is
like Idrissa Gueye and can sense the
danger and get back and is in front of
the ball. Our midfielders always seem to
be chasing the ball. Harrison
is someone who comes alive in the
opposition half when he's on the ball,
but I'm also making the like nice little
cute little passes.
And [snorts] he did that again today at
times.
Um
but it's that when you're playing
against a team who are so good
at breaking up pace, you need a little
bit more discipline. I just don't think
him or James Garner had that today.
Um
He obviously played 86 minutes, which
again I think the manage the manager
showing there. And the manager's made
comments after the game that he doesn't
want to lose him. It's as simple as
that. Doesn't want to lose him. Doesn't
believe he can lose anybody. I think
that's an instruction to the to the to
the board or or whoever that we can't
afford to lose him. So, Harrison
Armstrong I would give a
66 for today. Keane Lewis-Potter
uh someone who obviously a very willing
runner, someone was broke broke with the
ball strongly
trying to get us up the pitch. Um sadly
most didn't really come of anything.
But, there's always a willing runner.
There's always someone who wants to
break the lines. Should have had a
penalty. It's as simple as that. He
should have had a penalty. He was
brought down in the box.
Simple It's just a penalty. It's just
stonewall penalty. How it's not given
I'll never know.
Um
felt like again he had to There's
There's times today where There's one in
the second half where he broke and Bali
looked played to Bali and Bali looked
knackered and it just rolled and it was
just like There's only No one went with
him. Keane Lewis-Potter breaking from
our own box and no one went with him
even though we had pace on the pitch.
It's like
why aren't people keeping up with
players like him? It's just I don't get
it. So,
um Keane Lewis-Potter I would give a
74
today. Uh Allahyar Sayyadmanesh
Uh he played in fits and starts today.
There was times when he had the ball
that he looked really good. But, I think
as the game went on he just looked
he looked less and less interested.
Uh one key pass during the game. Um
accurate passes 97% accurate passes
which is pretty good.
Um
But, towards the end of the game I'm not
saying he didn't look arsed because he
wants to move or anything like that. He
just looked he looked like he Again, he
was less and less in the game and maybe
should have come off. Um
But, yeah. Very It didn't you know, none
of it
None of it really came with anything.
None of it was really done in the right
places. Again, just some really nice
play at times, but
none of it was like all linked together
today, so I would give him a
65 for today. Um George, I thought I
thought George had a really good first
half.
But again, second half just couldn't get
it going. He had one shot which the
goalkeeper spilled and
Tierno Ballo has to do better. Tierno
Ballo tried to cut it across the goal
instead of just putting it into the into
the corner.
Um
He looked really, really lively, but he
faded massively second half. And the
worst thing was, he had the player on a
booking. He nutmegged him and went to go
past him. He fouled the player who was
on a booking. And from then on, he
should have just kept on trying to
destroy him every single time.
And for whatever reason, he didn't.
Um
Uh accurate passes 93% 13 out of 14.
Dribbles one out of one success rate.
Sorry, I keep on talking to me like
that. I was over there. Um
But he just didn't do anything second
half and then obviously
he was obviously subbed.
But
I think it That's experience maybe of
when you're playing against someone and
you've got it You've got him on a yellow
card. Keep going at him. Keep going at
him. Try and hurt him. So, really good
first half, but faded very much like
Heaven did in the second half, so
um
67 for me.
Uh Tierno Ballo, I mean
he should have had a hat-trick today. He
got a hat-trick in midweek, but he
should have had a hat-trick today,
easily.
The the you know, he should have had one
He was There was a great opportunity
early on and then there was the one as
I've just said the one with George. When
it comes to him, he tries to put it as I
said, he tried to put it back across the
goalkeeper where there was a big gaping
hole on the right-hand side. He should
have just put it in. And the one in the
second half, he's done everything There
was another one after that, sorry, where
the ball's come to him, he's took a
touch, and he's hit it into the side
net. And then there's the one in the
beginning of the second half, where
he does everything right, he jinks
inside the defender, and he's got the
goalkeeper to beat. And at that moment
then, you've got the goalkeeper to beat,
you've got to score. And he doesn't see
the keeper He allows the keeper to make
a save.
I'll say that I'll do the old adage of
at least he's getting the chances and
missing them.
But he could he could be on like
he could be on five, six, seven goals
for the season if he put those away.
And he could have won us the game. And
that's the quality you need out of a
center forward, so
he's showing a lot more promise,
but for me he should have they should
have been buried, and
for me at that
I'm giving him a 60 for today, cuz I
think he should be walking off the pitch
with at least one or two goals easily,
so a 60.
Um David Moyes, you know what?
I didn't
I'm going to give David Moyes
a 75 for today, and I'll tell you why.
Because today must have been horrendous
for him.
With the Harrison Armstrong stuff.
And it must have been in the fact that
he's picked him.
And he's left him out there for 87
minutes or whatever, it must have been
horrendous for him, so
um we've managed to get a point, it
wasn't great second half.
Not 100% sure on his on some of his subs
either, but
um
the whole thing must have been really
tough, and
you know, we've managed to get a point.
Uh Beto
Yeah,
um
Yeah, the drop off between
Bar and Beto is just
it's too big.
Um
I'm going to give him a 46.
Um
Brennan Johnson
Yeah, I mean,
didn't offer us loads.
Didn't offer us loads.
Um,
no shots. Um,
no dribbles.
Just trying to see what his passes
numbers were like.
I don't even think he had that many
passes.
Three passes. So, wasn't really in the
game at all. So, for someone who's on
the pitch for half an hour,
I'll give him a
52.
Um, Carlos Alcaraz,
again, didn't do much. Did have one shot
at 1-1 that I thought
Well, imagine. Imagine.
Um, if we scored, but again, coming on
as a late sub,
sort of
sort of showing that the manager just
isn't
um, that interested in him.
So, I'll give him a
51.
Hayden Hackney, I thought I thought
Hayden Hackney done well when he came
on.
I thought his use of the ball was good.
Um,
it was really important that he got into
the game really quickly, and I thought
he did.
Um,
94% pass accuracy.
Um,
one recovery, one blocked shot.
Uh, two ground duels, but both were
unsuccessful. Now, I thought he got into
the game quite quickly, and I thought
that he
he, um, he showed that he's definitely
definitely like a Premier League player,
and
that was really important for him to
come up get up to speed really, really
quickly from coming off the bench. So,
he was good when he come off the bench,
you know, I think he was the only one
really who offered something when he
come off the bench. So, Hayden Hackney I
would give a
72.
Um Seamus Coleman coming back coming in
and playing playing right back. Um
didn't really do anything in the time he
was on the pitch, but
I haven't scored while he's on the
pitch, so
Seamus Coleman I'd give a
53.
Cavaleiro, [snorts] uh you're getting a
big fat
four cuz you shocking. That should have
been a penalty. So, Chris Cavaleiro once
again absolutely shocking
with a four. There you go.
That is my team right there. That is my
uh that is my
player ratings done once again on the

anyone. So,
