Bournemouth 1-1 Everton | Match Reaction

Welcome to Trophy TV. Here's the match reaction. Bournemouth won, Everton won at the Vitality Stadium today. And the trophies leaving it very, very late to grab an equalizer in a game where really they should have been in front in the first half. And then we're lucky to still have an opportunity to take a point in the second. And a really poor second half display from Everton. after what was a decent first half display and opportunities missed. Then Barry could have got himself a couple of goals. The keeper's done brilliantly on a couple of them. H should have hit the target with another one, but you know, Everton ultimately have come out of the game unbeaten, but it's it's a it's a difficult match reaction to do this. I'm not going to lie. The Harrison Armstrong stuff has really knocked the wind out of a lot of Evertonian sales and the fact haven't come out and said it's utter nonsense tells you that there's a quite clearly stuff in it. I think the fans down at Bournemouth have been absolutely brilliant today. They've got a a quick song about it sorted. It's it's everywhere and I imagine it'll continue to be shared everywhere and given the owners are people who do check online and are quite sensitive. Hopefully they've picked up that he uh he's one we do not want to sell. There might be other players in the squad who want to leave. Let them go. Don't fight to keep players that really don't want to be here. But I think Evertonian would be really really really disappointed if Harris Armstrong left. you know, he's our best prospect. He's been brilliant. He played today. He was good today. 19. I think we can all see where his career is going. And we want that to be in the Everton's midfield and not Nottingham Forest. You know, you you'd almost make a slight case for it if it was Manchester City or Arsenal or something, but not for Nottingham Forest, the team that has finished below Everton and stuff. So, no. But that has took the wind out of the sales. Armson was available for David Moyes um in midfield today. James Garner came in. Hayden Hacking not quite fit enough to start the game. Jimmy Garner did and Ty George was back on the left hand side and obviously Jai moved over to the right and Everton Everton started the game quite well to be honest. I mean you know Bournemouth it's always a difficult game when we go there. We haven't got a great record down at Bournemouth and we found it really tough down there at times. But I thought Everton gave as good as they got. You know, Bournemouth had a lot of the possession, but it was Everton who had the early attempts. You know, really good save from the keeper. We had a corner whipped in, but I think Dbury whips it in. It's a great header from Jared Brontweight and the keeper makes Petravich makes an absolutely brilliant save and it just actually goes past Harris Arson who can't quite guide it home. You know, would have been a a great start that really good bit of goalkeeping. You know, we then have a Tyreek George shot which the keeper fumbles actually and Tiero Barry comes in and you know what, I can be harsh on Barry but I think he does everything right. He's hitting it back from across the keeper into the other corner. You might argue you keep it low, but you're trying to get it past the the you know, if you're a split second keeper throws out a right arm and it's a brilliant save. Yeah, we could say should have scored, but it's a brilliant save as well from Pivic. We tested them. George again had quite a few shots and you know in that first half Everton had cut through Bournemouth so many times with ease. you know, it was just that there was a delay on a pass or hesitance instead of just getting shots away. They carried the threat of course the Ryan bent one over the bar. Jordan Pigford's made a really good save again from Ryan this time as you know he left James Garner in his wake sort of thing. But Bournemouth broke um on the counterattack from us giving the ball away cheaply. I think it was George trying to go between two players when it wasn't really on and they broke on us. should have been dealt with. Wasn't ball down the line. Tarovski holding Evan Neielson up. Melenko jog him back in. Actually thought Micheno had a good game, but on this occasion jog him back in. So therefore, when the ball's laid square to Alex Scott, he's too far away from him. Miko throws himself at it. It hits him and deflects past Jordan Pigford to give Bournemouth the lead. Bournemouth, they carry a threat that I've said all week they're a good side, but Everton Everton should never have been behind. Everton should have been a couple of goals ahead at the break and they weren't. They were behind. Um give you know like I said give as good as we got. We had another breakaway with and Tobo Barry's touch just let him down and it needed to be out in front of him and it was just to the side. It means he gets a decent shot away but it's into the side net. It have been a bit closer to his body. He could have got that shot back across the keeper which may well have may well have scored forever. went in one down. But as enthused as I could be with obviously the Armstrong thing, it's bare my head out. I'm not going to lie. I'm normally I can normally sit back and assess it all and come up with positives and sort of minuses for it. I can't see any for this. I think this is there's people who will sort of I've seen it already about comments on me phone. People send me message messages saying, "Oh, Angus, can he lie?" or whatever other club are lying. I just think why would somebody if they knew what was going to happen, why would they put themselves out there for an interview that they didn't have to do to talk about the things ever were planning on doing if they knew really none of them things are going to get done. Doesn't really add up. It smacks to me of the owners pulling stumps a little bit and going, "Nah, you got to sell a play if you want more money. We're not giving any." That's how it looks to me. I might be wrong on it, but that's how it feels to me. Just the other bit of like sort of Everton just lying to us doesn't really scam for me because they just do. They could have just done what Edton have done for years. Say nothing. The window shut. So, we didn't have enough money to do what we wanted or we couldn't get what we wanted. to come out and do it when the window is still open with a few weeks to go and be quite bullish about it and confident they get stuff done is a bit of a it doesn't to me it doesn't scan at all. It doesn't make sense and that's why I don't believe that was the case. I think something's happened behind the scenes that's come from the owner. Um and we are where we are. Came out for the second half. Bournemouth were by far the better team in the second half. Everton trying to play on the counter play with a little bit less control of thought. Final ball not good. Nowhere near good enough when we got into good positions. Bournemouth carried the real threat. We needed some brilliant goalkeeping from Jordan Pikford. Some brilliant defendant from Michenko and Hayden Hackne who both got key blocks in at 1 nil. Uh which would have killed the game. They've been you know 2-0 and game over. Then Barry before he went off had another opportunity. Good play from Jbury or good play from Armstrong. And he does everything right. He sits the defender down, hits it with his left foot. Hits it well. The keeper gets a strong hand on him, runs under him. On another day, it rolls in the net. But the keeper had a good day today and it stuck with him. You know that sort of signaled the end of Barry Betto come on and I'll be kind and had very little impact apart from I'll just say one of the worst shots I've ever seen under no pressure hitting a ball that far wide with that technique was really was poor from Betto. That he's he is better than that. That was poor but he just couldn't impact the game at all. Um we also Hackne came on done all right Johnson come on and worked out but couldn't really get into it. Same with Alcavas, same with him was on late. So it was a a very very very poor disjointed performance in the second half. But obviously because of Pikford's save, the brilliant defending from Micheleno, Hayden Hackne, Taki and Brontweight, you know, making sure they held up players when it looked like they were getting in. Um, it meant that Everton stayed in the game. One thing I have to talk about before we talk about Sarikovsky's goal is how on earth were ever not awarded the penalty when Jews bolster tripped. It's absolutely woeful. It is a case where you look and go this is all pointless now. It's rigged at the top with them the clubs being allowed to spend what they want. Referees are getting worse. Chris Cavana was pathetic today. Pathetic. And V are a joke. I mean John Brooks I wouldn't trust that fell to go make me a cup of tea to be honest he's woeful but how he could look at that decision and say it isn't a penalty is beyond me all has got a ball played in he's running in behind to get a shot on goal the lad it doesn't I think the lad knows he's there it doesn't matter if the lad knows he's there he trips him he trips him and you can see Cavana saying oh no he wasn't aware he was there it's bollocks if a ball's played over the top and a striker runs around the back of the defender and he clips him unintentionally because he doesn't know he's there. The lad sent off. It was a stonewall penalty. End of story. One of the most blatant you will ever see. And yet John Brooks looked at it and decided it wasn't. Embarrassing. Really, really poor. Really, really poor. But listen, we ball the killer game off and didn't and they'll go home. I imagine a fuming because they had the opportunity to and Everton did get the goal. Corner played in by Hackne. Two Bournemouth lads jump into each other and Taki brilliantly is alive and drives it home. Um, brilliant finish, you know, took the flection as well, the same as what Bourne's gold did, but it's in the net. Kept it low. It had equalized, gets Everton out of a little bit of a hole. Um, might, you know, keep a few people off his back maybe. Um, but no, it was a big goal. And then Everton actually looked like he could win it. Alcarez should have put his foot through one trying to trying to be too cute with the pass across the box. But listen, it's ended 1-1. I think we'll be happy with that. We could have been a couple up at halftime. They could have been a couple up by the time we scored the goal. So, I'm going to take it as a a really good result because we don't do well down there, but the second half performance was really poor. other things that irritate me far more than that game knowing I hope that Editton and TFG heed the warnings about selling Harris Nsung. Um I personally would probably just be happy if if we didn't bring anyone in. We didn't sell anyone at this stage. Um I know a lot of people will disagree with that and that's fine. Not getting to the end of the window with no right backs. Inexcusable as well by the way, but that's for another day. 1-1. Let me know what you think. Nicolen Cole was my man of the match by the way. People have been critical. I've been critical of him at times. Credit where credit's due. And I thought today he played well. Defender brilliantly, made some key blocks.
