Bournemouth 1-1 Everton | Everton Need To Keep Armstrong | 3 Talking Points

Welcome to Toffee TV. Here is my three talking points. Bournemouth one, Everton one. Yeah, listen. The point at the vitality is a good result. Our record down there isn't brilliant. Obviously, we won there last year, but it's not a great place. hasn't been a great place for Everton to go and get results over the years, but they have got a positive result today. Snatched right at the end. Um, and got themselves, you know, back on the plane, back up to Mercury side. I'm sure the delighted with that point. Four and six is a really good return given one of them was Bournemouth away. Like I said, not a great place for us, but um, yeah, listen, we we could have been a couple of goals up in the first half. Two good chances for Tiero Barry. Keepers made good saves. The jar brand it's a brilliant save from Petevic is the one from Barry's a really good save. Spreads himself. Barry for me does a lot right. Gets there puts it back into the other corner and it's it's a a big arm from Petravic that keeps you out. But you know two or three times in that first half made the wrong decision with the pass again and we've got to get those moments right. went behind to a poor goal from our perspective. Melenko not getting tight out quick enough to Evan Nielson and it's ended up in the back of the net and um second half I thought Bournemouth were better. I did. I just thought they were they were the better side. They should have killed the game off. There's no doubt about it. But Everton should have had an absolute stonewall penalty for me at 1 nil. Um, I don't even think I I amazes I mean it shouldn't amaze me because it feels like there's definitely an agenda against Everton and getting penalties. I know a lot of teams will say that, but it was a Stonewall penalty. It doesn't matter whether it's intentional or not. The lad is running onto a pass with a shot at goal. Hill for me knows he's there, knows what he's doing, but even if he doesn't, it doesn't matter. He's fouled him. Fuse Hall's going to have a shot and he's fouled him. Ergo a penalty wasn't given. H Bournemouth should have to the kill again. Pigford's made a great save. Brilliant block by Hayden Hackne. Micholenko blocked two goalbound efforts as well. So you know Bournemouth where the team really pushing Ever trying to play on the counter. Barry had another chance again. Peter it saves but Tarki comes up big late on for us with a low drive and gets us a a point. We'll say it was welld deserved. Bournemouth might have slightly different feelings to that. But listen, a good return from the opening couple of games. Let's begin with point one and that is Thieno Barry. I think the ladder started the season really well. I thought he looked sharp in preseason and I'm not going to I'm not going to slag him off here. I think he's looking he's a lot more effective in games now. He's causing defenders um problems. He's had a great week up until today. Four goals in his opening two games and he looked lively and sharp today. And like I've just said the two he's missed two really good opportunities, but the goalkeepers made two really good saves from it. So it's it's you can be hard it can be harsh sometimes to to criticize that. We just need a little bit more clinical finishing. One thing I would say in his defense, in fact the worst one for me, the first one when when he saves on George Barries in him brilliantly to me does everything right. Does everything right. That I played as a striker. Anyone watching this who played as a forward your first job to react and get in get a shot away and you're trying to go back across the goalkeeper on another day that goes past them under the misan goes in whatever keepers made a save. The one in the second half he sits the defender down and hits it well with his left foot and the keeper gets a bit lucky again but he makes himself big. The one that annoyed me a little bit was the one right on half time where I can't it might be in Jai feeds him and his first touch takes it away and he ends up getting a good strike on it but it hits the side net and where if his first touch was better in front of him he could have gone back across the keeper and scored. But I think we're seeing much better from him. But we do need a bit more clinical finish. And what I would say is people will the lads the people who who don't like Tier Barry will be on them again. Of course they will after this one. They've been that's a pipe down a little bit in the last couple of games, but they'll be back out today. But what I would say is where are the other players who score goals? Where's Jay in the box? George has got to come up with some goals. You know, these players have got to come up. It can't always be just the striker, you know, and I know you might like and J, but where are the goals? Your creativity is brilliant. Let's start doing it. But they've all got a weigh in. Yes, Barry needs to be more clinical today. Um, but the others have got to come up with the goals as well. It it is poor. It's poor. Our wide players have to weigh in regularly with goals. They really, really do. Uh the second thing I want to talk about is Harris Armstrong because it's got to be spoken about. Done a video and it's it's done really well. Of course it has cuz people uh everyone I think is feeling bewildered by what's going on at this football club and I'm bewildered absolutely bewildered with this news today. have been in J have gone okay we sort of expected this you know this has been building even James Garner wouldn't have surprised me as much but this one seems to come from left field now apparently I've not seen the interview but apparently David Moyes has come out and said it's nothing to do with him it's a club decision well then that club decision is being made by the owners I believe and I just am amazed by it and I think they're so out of touch if that's the case. If they think selling Harrison Armstrong is the the right thing to do, then they are more out of touch than I think they are. And I do think they're out of touch anyway, but I think they're even more out of touch. This the optics for this is absolutely horrendous. Horrendous. A lad who's been at Evan since he was eight. He's not a boy or Devatonian, so I'm going to go down that route, but it's neither here nor there. But he's a lad who's been at the club since he was eight. He's got in and been absolutely brilliant. He's grown. He's been fantastic this season so far. He's played today. 80 odd minutes again today. Done well. Worked dark some important tackles and stuff. Evertonians love him. Yes, there's a little bit of development to be done there. But to me, he's going to be the main stay. Sorry, my head. he was gonna become the mainstay of Evans midfield until he he explodes again and someone comes and offers 130 140 million for them. I mean if Elliot Anderson can go for that fee then of course Harrison can get there but to to try to sell him under the manager's nose then if that's what's happening I don't know if that's accurate. I've just seen a quote from David Moyes have no reason right now to believe it isn't true. Then that is appalling. The manager talking about wanting players in. We all know we want players in. What's happened? What has happened? So I'm I'm astounded with it. It think it's a white flag from the owners if this is allowed to go through. I think Everton might need the money to buy players. Well, then don't buy anyone that go with what we've got. Come out, tell the fans. We we the Burnley case has cost us, you know, getting players or there isn't money there. They they're billionaires, these owners. There's lots of money available. They have got lots of money available. Yes, there's the rules Evan have got to play in, but there was a nonsense rumor going around this morning that it was to do with PSR. PSR a isn't really a thing. STR is. and that doesn't need to be corrected until the 30th of June next year. So that's nonsense. Put that to bed straight away. That could be done by selling a player in January or at the end of the season. So I don't believe that. And if that was the case, Everton would sell Armstrong and not bring anyone in. And again, the manager wouldn't have that. So nothing adds up. We spoke to the CEO Angus Caner the other week as did others. I don't I've said on another video I don't believe for one second Angus Caner would do an interview that he didn't have to do. There was no requirement for him to do it. He done the three interviews that day. He he said pretty similar on all three. Everton would get a right back. Everton looking for a right back. Everton want to bring players in. Um Everton are going to spend money. ever going to do the if you believe that he would have known the financial situation which he will be across and still said all of them things then I don't know what to tell you something has changed at that football club in the last two weeks and if the CEO doesn't know about it at the time it can only have come from above him that's my that's the conclusion I've come to anyway and no wonder if that's the case the manager's pissed off as So the manager when he says these things is putting it on the owner's toes. He said it in that quote I've got where he said it's nothing to do with me. We've had a bit that the club decision. He said I don't want to lose anyone. I want more players in. He is squarely putting that on the owners the absent owners. So as good as TFG might have been to come in do the ground get the club going in the right direction which is all the positive stuff that they've done. This to me is is inexcusable if they sell him. Certainly when the manager apparently doesn't want him to go, that's even worse. So I don't know. It's going to I don't know. I'll be so disappointed. Maybe people have got a different view. Maybe people are like I'm bothered. Sell them. You know, let's get more players in. I don't know. That's just my my opinion. But I am really I'm not many things shock me about Everton anymore. Not many things shock me about football. But this has shocked me today. It really has. The third and final point, >> let's get it back onto football matters because I think I think that the positive in this is Everton kept going today. Everton have been the the one the thing with David Moyes, whether you're in his camp, you're not in his camp, whatever. Whether you're down the middle and just going me, he's the manager. One thing he has done for the team is made Everton quite resilient. Their away form has been quite good. But I think he's very good at setting a game plan up the manager and he proved it today. We should have been a couple of goals up in that first half. Now the second half the levels dropped. Melon R didn't have a good game today. I've praised him said he's done a good job at right back. I don't think he had a particularly good game today. I think second half especially really struggled really really struggled but he's not a right back. Hence why everyone's been going on and on about wanting a right back. But I think the game plan was strong. longer think we could have like I said we could have been and should have been in front of Halime. Second half we did drop Bournemouth with the better team but there is a resilience there about the team. They do hang on in there. We did we scored. We tried to win it and you know we had a couple of opportunities. Charlie AlkaZ has put a soft effort into the side net and then we had the free kick with well then they went and got one but we had a free kick with an opportunity to to load the box and get contacts on it and we got ahead of the cross to the keeper and no one's in the right place. So I think that's a positive. I think we've played the opening three games. We've won two and drawn one. Unbeaten. You've got to look at the positives out of the football side. We're still short. We're short at right back. For me, we're short of a wide player and we're short of a center forward to go with Tenno Barry in my opinion. And um I hope we're not short of a central midfield player tomorrow. That's what I really hope. I hope it's the other way. um and we're going after players, but it just feels really deflating tonight. I'm trying trying to look at the positive from the football side and it's another game, another point on the board at a tough place and um Man United in a week's time when all of this transfer nonsense will be out the way thankfully.
