Bought these by mistake! Are they any good? Weirdly satisfying? Drawing, chatting video

Hello everybody, welcome back to the average. I've just popped in to film a really quick video because I just got these in the mail and I wanted to try them out, but I realized I bought the wrong ones. I bought pearlescent colors. And uh who likes pearlescent? Mm, like sometimes, maybe, but not always. And I've never tried these PanPastels out, but I've seen people using them and I really wanted to try them. So, I think I'm just going to go for it anyway and hope that maybe I like the pearlescent quality cuz I really just wanted to test these. So, let's let's try them. I bought here just been on holiday to Norway and I went to this Moomin shop and I wanted to show you guys some of the posts posts prints I got. And they're like postcards but prints. You know, I'm going to use them as prints and put them on my wall. So, it's Tove Jansson is the illustrator and obviously creator of the Moomins and she's um comes from Norway, so they had a lot of Moomin stuff over there. But that's fine by me because she's definitely a big inspiration for me and I really love these original drawings by her. Just the original style of the Moomins is so cool. I I really miss this kind of graphic style of just like I don't know, just a little bit different. I I feel like we don't really have that nowadays in it's a very polished design for animation and things and like these original sketches are so cute and atmospheric. I just really like them. I really like this one with just the blue. It's making me think about how I'm going to use color in my comics. So, I'm going to put these on my wall. And they could be some good inspiration. But yeah, I was just, you know, thinking about how to use color in the comic because I've been thinking I want to use inks even though I've been saying that I'm going to use pencil, but I'm going to use inks, I think. And I've been just, yeah, sketch drawing out some stuff. This is a lyric from the new Phoebe Bridgers album. So, don't don't worry about me, it's fine. It's just a lyric. Um but yeah, I really like this drawing. And this one, I really like the way the shadows are with just like using minimal color. I think it looks very cool. I've been obviously trying to figure out the characters again. I like her. She looks very I don't know if you know the artist Emily Carroll. She's a horror horror comic illustrator, uh writer, too. And I guess she's a big inspiration. And this one kind of came out naturally. I wasn't really thinking I want to do like her style, but it just came out naturally. So, I think I'm sort of swaying. This was a dog that I saw I started drawing. And here are some like Norway sketches of some They have some weird crows there. I guess they're not weird to Norway, but they're weird for me. Yeah, I'm just I'm just going to test out these things. So, let me find like a bit of a random page. Maybe here I'll test them out. Cuz I just want to try these quickly with you. How do I get this open? There it is. A little crankly bit. Yeah, so they come in this really cool packaging where it's kind of like I don't know if you ever had these lip glosses, but you used to have these stackable lip glosses and that's really what they remind me of. It's kind of giving me that nostalgia. Hopefully this comes off easily. It's not really stuck down. Get off. There it is. So, yeah, it kind of reminded me of like makeup in a way. It's cool. I like this uh set. You can get like normal sets of this. I accidentally got this one. So, if you want to un- cap them, just do this and they come with soft tools, as they're called, in this uh thing which really just they just look like makeup sponges but like really really those cheap ones that you could get for like like no money that you just yeah like nothing. So maybe I could use like makeup tools with this. So these are the soft tools again. It's like a fake finger. I and eyeshadow things. Uh I don't know what to use first. I don't know how to approach this because I've never used these but I think I will use this finger and I will just try them out. Okay, here we go. It's very shiny which is not what I wanted but ooh Okay. I I really like the texture. It gives that I don't know if you've ever done this way you sharpen your pencil and then you use the sharpenings to like rub it and on the paper and it gets a really smooth obviously like color. That is what this feels like and actually the pearl essence is not like crazy. It's kind of a nice pastel color. Have I actually been okay with getting this? I don't know. Was this mistake a good mistake? Kind of seems like it. I'm going to test the rest out. Let's try the purple. Lots of excess powder. I wonder if you need to spray Yeah, you probably do need to spray this down with fixer fixative. Especially if you're using it in a sketchbook like me. Ooh, I like how they blend. That's pretty cool. I'm getting excited about these. And I really I've always looked at these and been like yeah, they're not for me cuz I don't really like um pastels like in that form but these are really really nice. I'm spilling everywhere. But that's kind of cool. I like the way they lay it down. And yeah, the the pearlescence seems minimal. I'm just basically experimenting with them now. And you can keep moving them around. I wonder if you could just use hairspray on this to fix it down. I'm pretty sure someone in the comments is going to be like, "Yes, of course." Of course you can, you stupid. I'm sorry. I don't know everything about art supplies. Yeah, I like these. I think they would be really handy during like water drawing water drawing water painting water for this comic dynamic in the horror park, the water park. Something satisfying about this. So beautiful. Looks like a rainbow. Obviously cuz it's rainbow colors, but you just looks really cool. I love these. I need to get some hairspray to spray this down. And I will, but not yet. Okay, and I really like this. This is really cool for me. I don't know what you guys think, but I really like that. So if I do this, this this reminds me of like lip glosses or eye shadows that I had when I was a kid. Well, not kid, but like preteen or whatever. What is Just going to use my little eye shadow here. Let's color in this area. Definitely wish that they weren't pearlescent, but you you you learn. I think I just I was like, "Oh, I love these um colors." And I was like, just I quickly bought them and then and then they arrived. I was like, "Oh, iridescent." Not clever. But they're cute. I really There's some beautiful um images that people do with this stuff and I just I always never really looked them up because I thought they're not for me. But I'm really glad I'm trying them out. Um this is just a quick video. I'm sorry. I just wanted to update you guys. I'm trying to do the comic and I've been on holiday, so obviously you have your holiday and then you have your coming back from the holiday where you're just tired and you're just like holiday blues. So I haven't really been into filming, but I have been drawing and stuff. So I really hope that I can catch up on my comic work quickly cuz I I I just I need to get on with it. So these are some more character designs. Like I said, I'm really liking this style. I think I will try this style as in ink and then using this to just do one block color. Just for fun, just to test it. I don't necessarily know how like helpful that will be or like What's the word I'm searching for? Just easy that will be to create a comic with PanPastels. I don't think that will be very like easily done. So I don't think I'll be using them for a comic, but they could be good for illustrations. So I just realized I did this illustration of this woman wearing a Tutu Motoshi dress. I don't know if you've heard of Tutu Motoshi. She's the sister of Erika. I got I don't know her name. Who made that strawberry dress that was viral a few years ago. Probably a long time ago, but I really prefer Tutu Motoshi's dresses. And I just get inspired to to draw her dresses whenever I see them pop up. But yeah, they're very sparkly, so I think this actually palette and stuff is going to work for me. I'm just sort of going for it on this illustration cuz I think it will really work well. I'm going to use this red. I know it's more pinky, so that will be cool. But yeah, I was thinking for my comic, what I could do is do a weekly update on my Patreon, sort of using it as a blog to sort of keep me in track and make sure I have like weekly updates. But I'm not sure because I just know that if I sometimes if I make something like that for myself, it might put me off or it might might make me work harder or it might put me off. I don't know if you guys ever felt like that, like if you have pressure, it helps sometimes and sometimes it's like actually I can do without this pressure. But I think it might help. I don't know. Um what do you guys think? If would that be interesting or like I could do like a free tier and just like for follow and use it as like a blog so followers could just see my updates, like written updates and photos of what I'm working on that week. And then I can get into the groove. I really need to get this comic done by um Thought Bubble, which is in November. So I want it done, printed by mid-November. So I'm cutting it fine. I've nearly got all the thumbnails done. And yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do to keep on track. Definitely need to pick up Patreon again because I put it down for a few years. And I was also thinking of making some of my old comics like digitizing them. Well, I do have the digital files for them and then putting them as a tier on that so you could just read the old comics as a digital thing, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Yeah, I really like these. I'm happy like happily surprised that I like these pearlescents. I thought I was like, "Oh, no." So, I'm pleased. But, here was a quick videos to just update you guys and catch up and chat and hopefully you're drawing along or whatever. Let me know about your projects. I know a lot of you are working on comics as well, which is really cool. I really like that community of everyone working on something. And we're all like kind of putting each other along.
