Video summary
Blizzard holds a significant opportunity to unlock an untapped goldmine for *Classic Plus* by leveraging existing but unfinished assets within the game world rather than creating entirely new content from scratch. The core vision involves treating *Vanilla WoW* as if it never ended, continuing development from that historical point using pre-built landscapes that have remained inaccessible or incomplete for years. By utilizing these dormant resources, Blizzard can expand the game without needing to build every terrain element anew, effectively revitalizing areas that were left in a state of limbo during earlier development phases.
Specific examples of underutilized content abound across both Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, offering rich opportunities for narrative and gameplay expansion. In the Eastern Kingdoms, large sections of the map such as Red Ridge, Lakeshire, and Badlands feature empty mountain ranges that could be developed into new mid-level questing zones to alleviate leveling pain points. Similarly, iconic locations like Karazhan could host a full 20-man raid version beyond its current crypt implementation, while the Emerald Dream could be integrated properly rather than as a repetitive leveling area. Other promising areas include Grim Batol for raid expansion, the opening of Gilneas and Shadowfang Keep, and fleshing out Old Ironforge with vendors and lore-appropriate content, alongside developing unused spaces beneath Coldridge Valley and utilizing the Iron Forge airport as a daily hub.
The speaker also highlights critical narrative opportunities in specific zones that have been overlooked or poorly implemented in recent expansions. In the undead starting area, there is room to add port towns or expand leveling zones without conflicting with existing Scarlet Crusade locations, while Stratholme could be enhanced with open-world extensions or dueling mechanics reminiscent of old private servers rather than simply removing its current content. Furthermore, Quel'Thalas offers a chance to include the Blood Elf starting area from *The Burning Crusade*, reimagining the tragic Dead Scar event caused by Arthas and potentially shifting Kael'thas's role away from villainy if High Elves are introduced. Even lesser-known areas like Dead Mines remain untapped for expanding Defias and Mason lore, proving that there is still substantial depth to explore before moving to Kalimdor.
Ultimately, while Blizzard possesses the technical capabilities and lore assets to execute this vision, they must invest proper resources and care to avoid repeating past mistakes seen in *Season of Discovery*. The speaker warns that without significant effort and a long-term roadmap similar to the retail "World Soul Saga," *Classic Plus* risks failing to sustain player interest. Success will depend on maintaining the original art style without adopting retail graphics or armor sets, implementing weekly quests over daily ones to align with existing reset cycles, and minimizing FOMO. By combining these strategic approaches with a deep dive into unused geography and lore, Blizzard can transform its backlog of assets into a thriving continuation of the classic experience that honors the game's history while offering fresh adventures.

Chad, it's time. It's time to talk.
Ladies and gentlemen, I come to you.
From beyond Outland, the mighty
Ashbringer crafted. That's right, the
real Ashbringer. Uncorrupted
as it always should have been. This
right here is the uncorrupted
Ashbringer. Okay. Okay. The cleansed
mighty Ashbringer
that originally in Vanilla Wow, we were
supposed to be able to cleanse the
corrupted Ashbringer whenever Burning
Crusade came out when we walked through
that dark portal, but Blizzard forgot.
Blizzard forgot. But you know what,
chat? I've said it plenty of times. As
beautiful as that wonderful Dark Portal
is, sometimes I think it's a shame it
ever even opened. And with Blizzcon a
week out and everybody talking about the
future of classic, everybody's got
theories. Everybody's thinking, "Hey,
Classic Plus, Classic minus, retail
minus, retail plus." There's all kinds
of different things that people are
talking about. Right now, for a long
time, if you watch my streams, you've
heard me talk about this. My kind of
vision
has been, let's take Vanilla WoW and
treat it like it never ended and let's
continue developing the game from that
point on. Now, instead of just being
here talking about it, let's actually go
look at some of the stuff that I've been
talking about, right? Like I've I've
been talking about it for months, but
there's a bunch of places in game that
Blizzard has built, started even maybe
not even built, but they started
building and they just never finished
it, right? So, there's doors that won't
open. There's different zones that you
can see. You can literally see the zones
on the map. You just can't get to them.
There's entire like landscapes just
built out sitting there for 20 years and
they they haven't been doing anything
right. So, here's what I think. I think
we go through go to all of them at each
one. I'll tell you, you know, what's
there, you know, what eventually
happened to it, maybe why it never
happened, and what I think they should
do with it. because I think you could
build out so much of the world of
Azeroth in Classic Plus with what's
already in the game. I think that
Classic Plus should should take
advantage of that. We're going on a
field trip. Let's get started. Actually,
let's start here. I have a few
characters, right? So, we can go ahead
and start taking a trip around Azeroth.
A little bit of a field trip around the
world. And let's start with some of the
obvious ones. The obvious are some of
the places that they addressed already
in Season of Discovery. This is the easy
one. Okay. And I talked a little bit
about season discovery and what season
discovery did and that was the
implementation of Karazhan crypts. So
Karazhan crypts, it's an area behind
Karazhan.
So this is the Karazan crypts back here.
So first things first, what is Karazhan?
Karazhan is an area that's been in the
game since vanilla. So if you came down
here, you could come here and discover
this and you see this great big tower.
You see this great big tower and you're
like, "What the crap is this thing?"
Well, it's the Tower of Medivh. Uh
Medivh is this great powerful wizard.
He's actually involved in the opening of
the the Dark Portal or one of the Dark
Portals. There's actually multiple in
the lore, but like I said, we're not
going to do a whole big lore dump, but
this is Medivh's Tower. And in Burning
Crusade, it's the first raid, and it's a
10-man raid. Originally, Karazhan was
intended to be in Vanilla WoW. You know,
Medivh is a big lore character
throughout the Warcraft games. I think
particularly in Warcraft 1, he's pretty
big and a little bit into Warcraft 2. I
don't remember what all he does in
Warcraft 3, but but he's a big lore
character. They built this tower with
the intent of having you go into
Karazhan. It was going to be this huge
raid. Here's a little Easter egg for
you, by the way. They put this smiley
face underneath underneath Karazan if
you come here. Smiley. You can go behind
Karazan and drop underneath it. Yeah,
this is a thing that they eventually
implemented into Burning Crusade. Now, I
think Karazhan is something. Now, we're
talking about like raid content and
zones and stuff. really we're going to
focus more on zones and this is a raid
but uh I think Karazhan like a different
version of Karazhan could absolutely be
something that's implemented into a
classic plus and Karazan crypts which is
this area behind that again this says
crypts contested territory this is
something that has just always been here
too but there was no access to it the
only way to get in is you can kind of
glitch through it getting like feared
but I don't want to spend too much time
on this because this is something that
they actually implemented in sod and I
think that the sod implementation of
kerisan crypts actually very creative
and they did a very good job with it. I
will say this, it felt a little bit like
I was playing custom content on like a
private WoW server, but that's just kind
of the tools they had to work with. I
feel like they didn't really like enable
the classic team with all the tools that
they could have with something like a
classic plus. If they make a new
product, right, let's say it's it's a
new thing, it's classic plus, we're
going to full send and invest into this
thing, then you're going to have
designers and people working on the game
that are actually going to be able to
like build stuff out. And I think they
did a good job for what it was with the
Karazhan crypts. So you can go down here
and you can see it in its entirety in
Season of Discovery where they used the
original map and everything and uh they
just they they added a bunch of
encounters and it was pretty cool,
right? So I think that that was plus a
plus for Season of Discovery and I think
that's something that should also be
added here. So that's Keran Crips and
even Karazhan from Burning Crusade. You
know, staying in the old world. I think
there's something that you can do there.
I wouldn't make it a 10-man raid. I
think it should be a 20-man raid. I
think making Karazan a 20man raid just
to mix things up a little bit and not
have it be basically like a re-release
of whatever is in Burning Crusade
wouldn't be a good idea that's there.
How do we know for sure they even have
the team big enough to expand on
Classic? We don't. And I I actually
think that's a great question because if
you've seen what they've done with
Classic over the last seven years, seen
what they've done with the different
iterations of Classic, then you know
damn well it doesn't take a rocket
scientist to say, "Hey, this is an
understaffed,
underresourced
team working on Classic WoW." Not good.
Now, I think that if they do a classic
plus, I think the stakes of doing
classic plus are so incredibly high that
if they don't put in the proper
resources, if they don't give it the the
love and the care and the support that
it needs, you literally have to develop
it as if it's another MMO, which
Blizzard has repeatedly said over the
years that they do not want to do. I
think that it will fail. I think that it
will bomb. And I will and I do think
that there's like no real big like
there's no light at the end of the
tunnel for Blizzard. There's nothing to
look forward to as something that's like
a okay like maybe we'll get this, maybe
we'll get that. For years it was classic
WoW. Now there's people that you know
they like retail and and they played
Mist into WAD into into Legion into BFA
Shadowlands all that, right? And that's
fine. But if you're a classic WoW
player, a lot of classic WoW players
kind of gave up on Blizzard for a long
time. A lot of them have also already
given up on Blizzard again. They gave
them a second chance. They gave up on
them again until legacy servers came and
then you know legacy servers being
classic wild came and you know maybe you
just it wasn't good enough. There was
things that they did or had to do that
didn't really match up to what people
expected or what people were used to
playing on like old private servers like
the Nostalius the Allesium the lights
the place where I come from right that's
when I started my YouTube channel and
and we were doing classic cast and we
were kind of waving the flag and we were
leading the charge for for legacy
servers. A lot of those people, not all
of them, but a lot of them did kind of
just be like, well, you know, that's it.
You know, it wasn't it wasn't as good as
that. Now Blizzard has another chance to
recapture that audience. And I think
it's really really really important that
they put in the right resources, the
right care, they put in the the effort
that they need in order to make this
thing hit. And I think they know that. I
think they understand the stakes at play
because if they don't put in all that
effort, they they don't resource it
properly, then I I do think it's going
to bomb and there's really not going to
be like anything else in particular to
look forward to. Uh if you're a retail
player, you have the Last Titan and then
whatever happens after The Last Titan,
they're doing like a three expansion
set, which is War Within, Midnight, and
then The Last Titan, and that's like a
three expansion set, and that's like the
world soul saga is what they called it.
So, if you're a retail player, at least
you have that to look forward to. Like,
what happens after the World Soul Saga?
If you're a classic player, you don't
really have much else. Uh, you're like,
"Yeah, they they bombed on Classic Plus,
and most people are probably just going
to move on." That's why I hope that
Blizzard is actually going to resource
it properly because I I I think that
they understand the stakes at play. But,
let's go ahead and move on to the next
area. Now, this is another thing that I
think they could approach. This is
actually something that Season of
Discovery got wrong. the Emerald Dream,
the implementation of like the
incursions, I think that ended up being
something that was really bad and I
think they understood it pretty quickly.
But I do think that if there's a way
that they can integrate the Emerald
Dream somehow, now you have the Twilight
Grove here. So this is one of the
portals to the Emerald Dream. You have
the nightmare dragons, the world bosses
from vanilla. If you can find a way to
implement this properly, I think that
would be a good thing. People have
talked about the Emerald Dream for years
and years and years and eventually in
retail, I think it was in Legion, they
added a raid, they added Emerald
Nightmare, and they were like, "Okay,
finally like we came up with something
for Emerald Dream." But the problem with
the the concept of the Emerald Dream for
the longest time was like, "Well, what
do we do here? Is it just like a zone?"
Whenever you go to the Emerald Dream, if
you look at the lore, it's kind of like
just this big green lush utopia and
that's pretty much it. Like it's just
it's just green. They never really did
anything with it for the longest time
because they were like, is this just
kind of boring? But again, these zones,
these areas have been in the game since
vanilla WoW, right? And you can come
here and you can't really do anything
here. It's just kind of here. Now,
there's like some quests and stuff,
especially like in the later patches
where you need to come here to do some
stuff like I know like in the AQ patch,
like you know, Scarlo and all that. You
need to come farm some things here.
Wait,
why is there a guy here?
Why would I lie? There has to be
something that they can do with this.
Like maybe it's another raid. Maybe it's
a I I don't think it should be a
dungeon. I think it should be a raid.
But I I think there's something that
they should do here. I think a raid
would be nice. I think making it a whole
another zone. What what they did in
Season of Discovery was they made it
like a separate leveling area, like its
own like instance leveling area with
with a bunch of quests that you could
repeat. And it was just bad. Like it
took a lot of people out of the area and
people just ran in there and they were
just like farming that zone. kind of
felt like if you've ever played Dark Age
of Camelot, Dark Age of Camelot added
something called I mean they were just
instance dungeons for uh in the
expansion called Dark Age of Camelot
Catacombs added these instant dungeons
which was incredibly fast leveling,
super super fast leveling, but it was
kind of bad for the game because it took
everybody out of the world and that's
kind of the same thing that happened
with incursions and they basically just
like they nixed it. So, what you could
do here is this could lead to some kind
of implementation of a of an Emerald
Dream Raid, maybe like Emerald
Nightmare, something like that, but this
is something that's already in the game
that at least you have the basis to work
with. Kind of cool. Do you think some
improvements in graphics without messing
with the style is possible for Classic
Plus? I think so. It depends on what you
mean by improvements to graphics. I
don't think you should really like
change the art style. I think that it's
super important that like the retail art
style does not work for classic. It's
it's a very different type of game. And
if you start having like tier sets and
armor sets that look like retail WoW, I
think that's you're just missing the
mark so hard. You see the shadow in
vanilla WoW. Like if if you load up the
patch 1.12 client from 2006, the shadows
don't look like this. The lighting
doesn't hit this way. This actually does
look better than it did in 2006. I feel
like some of these things are okay, but
I don't think you should be doing like
the trees should not look like retail
trees. The building should not look like
retail buildings. What about more
character customization? I actually do
think they should do more character
customization. More hairstyles, more
faces, like stuff like that, I think is
fine. Like a barber shop, I think that's
totally fine. Our next area that we want
to go to, dude, just take a look at this
map, right? This is the Eastern
Kingdoms. If you look at the Eastern
Kingdoms, this whole area here is ZG,
but look at how many spots on the map is
like just like a vast mountain range and
just nothing's there. Not sure. Like
some of that stuff being there is okay,
but like there's just so many areas like
that where it's like maybe you could
just change the world a little bit.
Maybe you could level that out a little
bit and add something. Now some of that
being there is good actually cuz I think
if if it's completely populated all the
time everywhere, it's kind of weird. It
doesn't really feel natural, but I would
like to see them make some kind of
change with Swamp Bizaros cuz Swamp
Bazoro like it's so avoidable. It's such
like an avoidable area. It's gross. I I
don't I I wish they would add something
there that they people would want to go
there more for something. You have Red
Ridge. Look at this. So you have Red
Ridge here. You have Red Ridge.
You have Searing Gorge,
excuse me, Burning Steps. You have
Searing Gorge. Okay, so you have all
these areas right here. And then you
look to the right. Look at this square
right here. There is this whole mountain
range here. Actually, let's start there.
Let's go to Lakeshshire. So you have
Lakesh here. You have Red Ridge
Mountains and then you have this whole
area. There's burning steps and then
there's this massive mountain range to
the right with just nothing. Even
Redidge, you look at Redidge, it lights
up this area, but you see this whole
corner. This whole corner is not on the
map. Whenever you zoom in, click on it
to zoom in. It's here. It's lit up right
here. And that's exactly where it zooms
into. This whole area is open. This
right here is open. You can add so much
area to Classic Plus without actually
changing the silhouette at all. Isn't
this place reserved for Cataclysm? It
was never reserved for Cataclysm. It was
used for Cataclysm is essentially what
happened. Like the the different areas
were not meant to be saved for
Cataclysm. They were just meant to exist
at some point and then eventually they
were used in Cataclysm.
So like let's say you're coming in here
to Red Ridge. Let's explore a little
bit. Okay, people here leveling on Era.
So Era is like the level 60 forever
vanilla server.
It's surprising kind of that there's
just people running around everywhere.
Like if you want to play just classic
WoW, like vanilla WoW, then you can.
Like I've never even discovered this
area of the map on on this character.
Little waterfall here.
I mean, I guess you've got this whole
area here. Man, it's crazy. I' I don't
even ever remember being here.
>> What can I do for you?
>> Huh? Leather armor merchant. What the
heck?
Well, what can I do for you? See you
around.
>> Skinning trainer. What the heck? What is
this guy doing here? Look at my mini
map. You see this? Look at the mini map.
There's a hard line cut off here at the
mini map and it just changes colors.
Take a look at this. So, so we're here.
We're running through Lakeshshire right
now, right? And you have this whole area
that leads up into Burning Steps, right?
But this area to the right of Burning
Steps, so Burning Steps goes here,
right? And then you're on the edge of
the mountain range.
What about this whole area? This is a
massive other zone that you can use.
That's a great place for midlevel
content. You can add an additional area
to kind of go on the same sort of like
you have Westfall, you have the Lakes
Shire, and then it would it would be
somewhere in between the idea. I mean,
just look at it geographically, right?
Like you have the Burning Steps here,
you have Dreadm,
the Nolles and and the Murlocs of
Lakesh. You have that in Westfall, too,
right? It just kind of migrates there.
It's like the whole sort of geography of
it all. I think it'd be a great place.
Now, let's fly over there. So, look, you
have this whole area that goes here,
right into the burning steps, right?
Port for fly hacking. Look at this. Look
at this massive mountain range. If you
if you fly up here, guys,
if you fly up here, all this area is
just not even used.
Look at all of this area. And wow, this
is behind Red Ridge. This is that line
that you saw on the mini map earlier.
You see that? It could also be late game
content, harder than Silus. It could be.
I think it should probably be mid-level
content. So this area on the map,
that is this area that I was just
talking about on the map. You have so
much to work with.
And then here you are. This is the uh
this is the Badlands. So look this area
here. You have the Badlands. This is
where you form the wellpling. But you
have the Badlands. And the Badlands
comes out here and then this is the edge
of the Eastern Kingdoms. So here's the
border. But look at all this area. You
have this is a massive zone. I mean this
might be two zones. You could maybe put
two zones here, man. And then here's Red
Ridge. No, no, this is Swampasauros.
Excuse me. This is Red Ridge. So, you
have Red Ridge here. We were just
walking around up here and we we could
see this line on the mini map, and you
could build out this whole area. Now,
here's my question for you guys. If they
were to build this area out, what do you
think they should put here? Dwarf City,
Quest Hubs? No, not a titty bar, not
Walmart, not an Arby's. Maybe in Arby's,
but I think it should be like a
mid-level questing zone where it's like
not as big as this burning steps or
searing gorge, but it's like level like
30s, 40s cuz I think that's like a
that's like a pain point in leveling for
Alliance especially. You end up hitting
level 30. There's two pain points. One,
you hit 30 and you just ride out Scarlet
Monastery pretty much and there's like a
lot of back and forth around like
Scarlet, not Scarlet, Strathorn Veil and
everything. A lot of back and forth. The
other pain point is level 40 to 50. You
could put like a pirate or sea faction
there maybe. Yeah, maybe you do
something more with the blood cell
buccaneers. The next spot I want to look
at. So you have Stormwind and you have
here. Let's go to the other side of the
burning steps. So we ran through here
and you got the burning steps, you got
Black Rockck Mountain. Okay. Okay. So,
you have this, by the way, you have
these weird guys here again.
But look, you have this area that you
fly over. You know what's funny is like
just over this mountain range cuz you
don't see this when you're taking the
flight path. You take the flight path
and you and you go right here, right?
You take the flight path, you go right
here. You don't see that right on the
other side of this. There's just
nothing.
and you go into Stormwind and everything
that you see in Stormwind like because
because you're on the ground here in
Stormwind, right? It all comes down to
like what you see. So like what you see
down here is like, you know, you don't
actually get to you don't actually see
that. If you just move your camera a
little bit, there's some things that
just like don't exist.
It's kind of cool. If you go to the
other side of Burning Steps here, you
can go down to Stormwind.
You can go up to Iron Forge. But there
there's this area underneath Cold Ridge
Valley, which is the dwarf starting
area. Oh, that's funny. And this so this
version of the map has the uh Wrath Lich
King dock. So if you move upwards here,
there's all this area. You come into
Stormwind and then you go north.
I think this is the north. Let's speed
it up a little bit.
This is the north. So here's Cold Ridge
Valley. So you have this whole area and
this is where the deeprun tram runs. So
the deeprun tram is running underneath
Stormwind
all the way through here. Okay. Going
into the snow and then coming up through
here underneath here. Let me let me go
get up top here again for a second. It
takes you past Cold Ridge Valley, past
Nomegon right here. Or sorry, not really
past it. You're you're really to the
side of it. Okay. and it takes you to
Iron Forge. But you see how much area
there is on the map to do something
there. Like there's an awful lot of area
on the map to do something here between
Cold Ridge Valley
and the top part of Stormwind.
There's a lot of area. Imagine a deep
run tram stop at Nomer in Classic Plus
and Nome is a real city.
Not a bad idea.
Maybe, maybe in classic plus, just
maybe,
you end up taking back Nomegon. That
would be cool. And you turn Nongon into
a real city for gnomes. I don't know.
That could be cool. I think that would
be cool. So, let's go to the next area.
So, you have this area here. If you go
upwards, okay, let's go to the lock.
Okay. Loadon. So Lochadon is a uh pretty
solid leveling stone coming out from
Cold Ridge Valley, coming out from Dun
Maro into Loadon. So oh my
what? Oh my goodness. I'm AFK,
dude. This guy's popping all Dude, this
guy just spent 15 gold to try and kill
me while I'm AFK. I'm AFK and you're
spending 15 gold to kill me.
What are we doing here?
I'm here. I'm Look, I'm here. I'm
evangelizing the people on Classic. Wow.
Spreading the light. Spreading
righteousness. And and this lowly rogue.
Unbelievable.
What's her name? DOA.
Nobody cares about your music anyway.
This is classic. Wow. We don't listen to
anything.
>> We don't listen to anything in the last
20 years. Okay. History began and ended
in the year 2004. Unbelievable. Okay.
Uh, next one. So, Loach Madan. Now, I
believe this area from the right of Loch
Madan and to the right of the wetlands,
I think this is the Twilight Highlands,
right in uh after the Cataclysm. So,
let's check out the next area.
Zoom, zoom, zoom. So, this is this is
Iron Forge.
So, let's go
to Loach Madon. See, like you can see
how fleshed out this is. And it's okay
to have some mountain ranges. And I
think you need to have some mountain
ranges like this because it gives the
world that like size and that life, the
feeling of there's something else out
there that I that I can't see. And I
think I think part of that is good,
especially in this area around the back
of Iron Forge. Oh, that reminds me. I
almost forgot the Iron Forge airport.
So, you can actually get up here in
Classic WoW if you're uh with some some
clever game mechanics with some clever
usage of game mechanics. You can you can
climb up here and you can use uh like
slowfall and you can jump jump jump and
you can you can climb up this mountain
and I think you come up here
and then eventually you come back down
here. There's actually two places you
can go. There's the there's the Iron
Forge airport or you can come to the top
here and this is like a little Easter
egg but at the top of this mountain
there's like a little guy who's like
dead up here with a with a flag. Got a
little little bottle of something
cinema. Anyway, here's another little
camp here.
I don't think there's an NPC or anything
here. I can't remember. But right here
is the Iron Forge airport. Look at that.
So, the Iron Forge airport is strictly
an RP zone. Like you'll you'll fly over
the top of this place. You'll take a
flight path and you'll see like some
trogs and dwarfs like fighting each
other, but this place is effectively
like just not even used for anything.
Now, I don't know what you would use it
for, but I think it would be cool to
have this place be accessible. And hey,
look, there's even a Griffin master
place up here. So, maybe you could fly
up here and maybe there's like just some
it could just be like a little quest
area, right? It could be an area where
you can go and you can turn in some
quests and there's like some RP stuff. I
just think it's it's such a cool looking
place in Classic WoW that it's just like
a shame not to use it. A daily hub. Do
you think they should add daily quests
in classic WoW?
I don't really like the idea of daily
quest in Classic WoW. I think that what
happens with daily quests, well, two
things happened back in the day. Daily
quests were a response to people both
raid logging and then also a response to
people needing more ways to to make
gold. In classic WoW, they really became
a thing in Burning Crusade. Now, while I
do think trying to keep people logged in
and keep people from raid logging is an
issue even today, but I don't really
think making it for gold, like having
something for gold alone is like the
main issue because there's so much like
the economy is just so out of whack. And
I think that it's this is a whole
separate discussion. I'm I'm not going
to get into it now, but I think it's
very important to be very careful and
pay attention to a lot of the economy.
While I don't like the idea of daily
quests, just like many of you guys
don't. What do you guys think of the
idea of weekly quests, I think weekly
quests, if they're done right, I think
they could be fine. Elaborate. So, a lot
of how classic WoW works, everything's
on a oneweek cycle. Now, there's some
things that are on a shorter cycle. For
example, like Enixia, ZG, like the the
20man raids, they're on like a they're
on like a 3-day cycle. Now, I think
daily quests become annoying and they
they turn into a chore or a nuisance
because it's like, "Oh man, I got to do
my dailies. I I I don't want to have to
do my dailies. I don't want to have to
like be overly committed to doing this
thing every day and then feeling bad if
I don't log in and actually get my stuff
done." Now, what a happy medium could be
is weekly quests that coincide with the
current sort of culture and the meta of
classic WoW, which is, hey, I have a
raid that resets every week. And I think
that if it coincides with the weekly
reset that you already have, I don't
think that's so bad. Carrian makes a
really good point. Activity without
FOMO. I think you minimize the
opportunity to have FOMO whenever
there's a oneweek reset instead of a
daily reset. I mean, the thing is with
daily quests, daily quests are good for
like rep grinds. They're good for
getting gold, something for you to push
for and something to reward player time
investment because that is something
that's very important with Classic WoW.
Hey, if you have a guy that's no life
just sitting there all day every day
grinding away at something, guess what?
He should he should have more power than
you. He should be stronger than you.
That's that's the way it works. Now, to
what degree, I don't know. Should it
scale linearly with the amount of time
that you spend or should it scale down
and be like uh logarithmic I guess where
it's like you hit a certain point and
it's like you you kind of hit that
asmilt where look if you're spending 100
hours doing something or you're spending
120 hours doing something it's going to
be way less of an increase than if you
spend uh 10 hours doing something versus
30 hours doing something. I think that
makes sense. Yeah. Like a diminishing
return sort of situation. Let's kind of
stick to the subject. Sticking to the
main topic here. We're now in the
wetlands, right? Everybody knows the
wetlands. Wetlands have a couple key
things and a lot of people talk about
this and I want to kind of run through
some of these more quickly. Namely,
Grimatl Grim Butthole. We had Mark We
had Mark Kern on Classiccast and he told
us about uh
So, so if you know Mark Kern, he does
like a lot of gamer politics stuff on
Twitter now. He was one of the original
like producers for Classic Wow, and we
had him on a podcast on Classiccast. So
ClassicCast was so we were like the big
podcast before Classic came out in 2019.
We really like I mean it was a good time
man. I I've I've thought a lot about
bringing Classiccast back. People have
asked me for years. People leave
comments on my videos now and like dude
you got to bring this podcast back. The
thing is if I were to bring back
Classiccast it would have to be with a
whole new cast. Everybody's doing other
things. Tips is basically retired from
content creation. Stay safe is
completely rebranded and he's shifted
into a whole another realm. And then me
no changes, you know. So,
I'm the same guy I was 10 years ago,
man.
It's funny. I actually, so to clarify, I
actually was not a big no changes guy,
but easy. You know, it's too good of a
joke. It's too good of a joke. Anyway,
uh I actually was not a no changes guy.
I was very much account for the times,
but look, there's a whole different
discussion. Let's talk about Grim Batl.
So, Mark Curran said that they put Grim
Batl in the game, and I I I think I
asked him on the podcast, how do you
pronounce it? Was it Grim Battle or what
is it? And he's like, "No, it was Grim
Butthole." But we would always joke in
the office about it being called Grim
Butthole. Like, dude, old Blizzard was
different, man. Old Blizzard was
different, man. So, Grim Buttol is
actually used in Cataclysm, I believe. I
I think it becomes a dungeon in
Cataclysm. Uh, man, there there's
there's like a lot of lore to Grim Batl
that I'm not going to go into. One,
because I don't remember a lot of it
right now. The other part of it is it's
something that exists in Retail WoW. It
is a dungeon in retail. Wow. But I do
think that having Grimatl here and this
is an area that is used for the the
Horde Enixia quest chain where they come
here and they have to they have to do
some stuff here. It's actually like
super hard. The Horde Enixia attunement
uh compared to the alliance one. And I
think the alliance quest is like just
cooler for some reason. That's what
everybody says anyway. But I think
Grimatl should be something that is
added. This should be maybe not a
dungeon, but maybe a raid. Maybe it's
even an accessible zone. Who knows?
Talking about dwarf stuff. I'm going to
run it back real quick. And and one
place that I would really really really
like to see in Classic Plus, talking
about the dwarf stuff, we're going to
zoom zoom our way back to Iron Forge.
And I think some of you guys are
probably going to be able to assume,
tell me in chat if you guys assume what
I'm going to talk about next.
There's an old mythical magical place
that people have talked about for years
and kind of like Karazan Crypts, it's
accessible but only through certain
means. This is something I think would
be very cool to add. I think paying
homage to these old kind of like
legendary kind of kind of mythical areas
of classic WoW is very important and I
think I think you're going to win over a
lot of fans if if you do this if you're
Blizzard right here if you come into the
Iron Forge throne room you say hello to
the king
bonjour
and then you come back here
what's this
what the heck this right here. Old iron
forge.
Old iron forge right here.
Now, what is old Iron Forge? Well, this
is kind of like the original throne
room,
but it's called Old Iron Forge. Maybe
they flesh it out a little bit and add a
little bit more to it, but it's
basically nothing. Like, you come here,
it looks cool. You have some shiny
rocks. Uh, and you can come up here. Fun
little RP area.
But then you come down here.
All right.
Now, I would love for them to I don't
know, maybe add some vendors and add
something else to do here because
there's effectively nothing. In fact,
you can just fall down here and kind of
die and then you have to spirit res.
Another raid added at the bottom. I've
never seen this area. Yeah. So, you know
what? What I used to be able to do, so
this is old Iron Forge. I think they
should definitely do something here with
Old Iron Forge. Now, you know what's
funny? You know how I would go to old
Iron Forge back in the day. So, I would
come here, but I used to You used to be
able to mount and then in the batch
window, I would log out. I would type
slash log out and as my mount there's
like a little like delay time before
your mount pops out. I would log in and
I would get stuck right here. And then
you would just spam jump and then I
would jump with like a noggin fogger or
some kind of slowfall and it would and I
would zone through the world and I would
fall into here and I would land right
here.
Pretty cool. That's old Iron Forge. Now
let's go back to the wetlands and the
Twilight Highlands. So the Twilight
Highlands again, this is a place that
exists in Cataclysm. Now it's kind of
funny. We're talking about all these
places, right? We're talking about all
these places and it's like, well, you
know what's kind of crazy is like was
Cataclysm kind of like classic plus?
Cataclysm seemed to go through and add a
lot of these places that not just SAN
but a lot a lot of people talk about
this, right? A lot of the players of the
game, a lot of different content
creators, everybody talks about these
places. If you go here and you're
looking out towards the right side, the
the east side beyond Grimatl, which is
this way
again, pretty much you you've got like
this empty mountain range here. Empty
mountain range and water. Now, I think
specifically what's funny with the
Twilight Highlands cuz Grimatl and then
you have this here. What's funny with
the Twilight Highlands, I think there's
more space on the map than what you see
here. But this is a whole additional
area that you could do something with.
Oh, wait. No, maybe there's not more
space, but it just feels that way
because there's like a drop. Cuz look
how much more land there is here. Cuz if
you look at it like bird's eye view,
that's a hell of a lot of space. So, you
could do something with the Twilight
Highlands area. This is a place for
pirates maybe. Now there's a lot of talk
about like Telam and Colulteras like
South Seas type of stuff and now that's
the kind of stuff that I think is is
also really cool but I don't necessarily
think it would be right here. You would
probably be looking that more on like
the Calumdor side but that doesn't
necessarily mean that those types of
people couldn't be here. So let's look
at the next spot. There's so many places
to cover. I mean we we have only done a
fourth of the map so far and look about
how much time we've actually spent
covering talking about things that they
could add. There's if you want Classic
Plus, if you're Blizzard and you want
Classic Plus to be its standalone thing,
this is all the rumors. The rumors are,
oh, it's it's going to be its own
standalone thing. It's going to run
alongside retail. If that's true, you
have a lot of runway. Now, is it going
to be classic minus where it's like the
prequel before the events of World of
Warcraft and after the events of Frozen
Throne? Maybe. But my personal belief
has always been it should be developed
beyond as much as I think it's cool. Not
only do I think it would be cool, I
think Caverns of Time should cover some
of that stuff, but it limits what you
can do. Do you want to have a new
timeline that kind of like develops if
if the Dark Portal never reopened? Let's
say the Dark Portal never reopened and
you want to keep building that out.
There's so much that you can do.
Horizontal progression. It's going to be
hard. It's not going to be easy. This is
This is not an easy task at all. But
man, the the potential and the
excitement. Oh, no. Orcs.
Let's say the Dark Portal opened once.
Let's say it not never opened. It never
reopened for Burning Crusade. That's
what I should say. I guess opened twice.
Time Travel is lazy. Kind of. I don't
think Caverns of Time is lazy. I think I
think if they made Caverns of Time
dungeons that are different events that
occurred maybe within like Warcraft 3 or
some of the old Warcrafts that's fine
but also covering like specific things
that happened between that we never saw.
I think some time travel like dungeons
is cool especially with Caverns of Time
like that is cool. Isn't Grimatl where
Alex Raza was imprisoned before they
just magically let her out without an
explanation? Maybe if they never open
initially then Warcraft just wouldn't
exist. That's true. I mean like it never
opened for Burning Crusade. Classic WoW
is meta time travel anyway. Whole idea
was going back to when it was good.
True, actually with Chrommy and all
that. Anyway, let's let's look at our
next area we want to look at. So, we're
here, Twilight Highlands. Uh after that,
you have the Hinterlands. Ah,
little bit of a travel. We got to go to
a a very very special place. So, this is
Southshore.
Look at this thing.
H. So, we're here in Silver Pine Forest.
And now, Silver Pine Forest, again, this
is something that's addressing Cataclysm
with the Wargan, but I think people
would really love to see a a new
rendition of this with the Greymane Wall
and Gilaeas opening up. So, what Gilaeas
is, again, we're not going to sit too
much on the lore lore things right now.
Uh, one, cuz I'm not prepared to talk
about everything like that, but also
it's less important for a video like
this. What's more important for a video
like this is if these gates open, you
have these gates open up, right? And you
go beyond. Now, obviously in the vanilla
wow, there's nothing here, right? We
don't see anything here.
Empty.
But
I think it would be really really cool
if they open this up and have the Wargan
area of Gilaeas accessible. Now maybe
it's a raid. Maybe the Wargan are
fighting against everybody and they're
not friendly with the Alliance. Maybe
it's it's related to Shadow Fang Keep,
which is an awesome dungeon. Shadow Fang
Keep. Very very cool dungeon. I think
Shadow Fang Keep is one of the coolest
dungeons pre-level 60. You could have a
raid that's related to Gilaeus and it
might be right here. Maybe this turns
into a raid portal and and it's like a
Wargan raid. Arugal's lore is cool.
Yeah. By the way, none of this stuff is
anything that's like particularly
creative. None of this stuff is
particularly groundbreaking cuz all the
stuff is already in the game. The lore
and the story and everything has has
already been built. Everything has
already been built on the back end. What
hasn't been built is the implementation
and making sure that implementation is
good. Because you could talk about, oh,
a private server did this, this, and
that. Like, dude, nothing I'm saying
here is like some crazy profound
statement. Like, especially at this
point, because we've been talking about
this for years. You could probably find
old VODs or clips of me talking about
this 6 years ago. I'm not even joking.
We were talking about Classic Plus
before Burning Crusade came out. This
isn't anything new, but what it is, it's
important to rehash all the areas and
just look at how much potential this
would actually have and make sure that
Blizzard does it the right way. And it's
like, well, maybe a private server
already did this, maybe they already did
that, maybe. But Blizzard is Blizzard
and they have the capabilities of doing
so much more than what any private
server can do in terms of building out
something new and building up new
content. Now
capabilities
doesn't necessarily mean
they have on paper capabilities.
Are they actually going to do it? That's
the question.
Is that what I It's the truth. It's the
truth. Are they actually going to pull
it off? Legal rights versus competence.
Yeah. I mean, like it's their IP. They
can come up with new stuff. They have
the tools, right? They built the game,
right? They have all the code. They have
everything. They can create new models,
create new assets. Now, are they done
the right way? Are they going to
retalify the game? Are they going to do
this? That's a separate discussion. But
as far as having all the tools and every
every capability to do that, they have
that. Are they going to do it right?
We'll see. I'm getting even more hype. I
can't hold it. I'm Blizzard has a golden
opportunity. I just hope they don't f
it. Here's another spot. Okay, here's
another spot here. Man, I would love to
see them build out Unders City. I mean,
this is not something that that's for
this, but like if they were to build out
like something where you can take back
Lorderon, I think would be so cool. I
don't know. I mean, but but again, I
don't think taking back Lorderon would
be so sick. Oh, that'd be so sick. Just
imagine. And you like over the over the
patches, it builds out into a bigger
bigger capital city. But then that would
have to the horde would have to get
another capital city. Uh, so here's what
I wanted to talk about next is looking
at this is the undead starting area.
Wait, what is this? Oh, yeah, that's the
entrance to under city. The back the
back entrance. There's another starting
area here. This is the undead starting
area. Now, there's this whole mountain
range here that they never did anything
with. It just kind of exists and there's
no like sort of ominous purpose as to
why it's here or anything like that. So,
I think if they were to add something
like this, I think this could be really
cool. Maybe just like an expanded
leveling zone up in the Tears Fall
Glades area. Honestly, maybe you can
build a port here. Maybe you build
another port town here with another
boat. But is that too close to a
starting zone and then high levels are
just going to come and like her ass low
levels? I I don't know. It could be a
hoarde port. No, cuz cuz you already
have Grom goal with the Zeppelin.
There's definitely potential there.
There's something you could do there. I
don't think you would do anything with
the Scarlet Crusade because the Scarlet
Crusade is on the opposite side of the
map. That doesn't necessarily mean that
you couldn't do Scarlet Crusade there.
Scarlet Monastery here. I mean, you keep
you keep Scarlet Monastery as is.
There's so much to cover, man. We
already talked about the area from Tus
Fall and all that.
Maybe it's a port for Scarlet to bring
stuff in. Maybe. Wait, where is this? Is
this uh
Oh my gosh, dude. It never occurred to
me. Wait, it never occurred to me that
Hearth Glenn was on the other side of
Scarlet Monastery. Like it makes sense,
right? Uh I do love the emphasis on the
Scarlet Crusade and Season of Discovery.
Kind of tying it back to some of the
Season Discovery stuff we talked about
earlier in the day. I love the emphasis
on the Scarlet Crusade and Scarlet
Enclave. I actually do think they should
put Scarlet Enclave in Classic Plus, but
I don't think it should be introduced
the same way. I think Scarlet Enclave
should be reimagined and kind of rebuilt
from the ground up as like its own
proper raid instead of it being like a
using a bunch of old assets and being
kind of scuffed. Like give Scarlet
Enclave the credit it deserves cuz
Scarlet Enclave is basically built out
of like the extension of Tears Hand from
Wrath of Lichking and the original one
instance Scarlet Monastery. That's
pretty much what it's built out of.
Western Playlands is mostly good. Uh, I
do think like the ruins of Anderhal,
like all all this stuff is cool. I think
all this stuff is cool as is. Now,
something to talk about here.
Stratholme.
Let's talk about Stratholme because this
is the Wrath of We're looking at the
Wrath of Lich King map. So, all this is
like Wrath of Lich King stuff, like
death knight, whatever. So, that's the
death knight ziggurat or whatever it's
called. This thing was pretty cool to be
honest. Like the death knight stuff in
Wrath was pretty sick. So, Knack is gone
in this map, but it's still here
somewhere in real life. If you go to
Stratholm, I think Strath there's
something to consider with Stratholme. I
don't know what, but when you go into
Stratholm,
you have all this area, massive area.
Now, the reason why this area exists is
because it's
meant to be Stratholme. Like when you
when you look at the map, this chunk of
land up here that's in its own zone is
meant to be Stratholm. So, I don't have
an idea for this. And I kind of want to
ask you guys, do you think it's sensible
to do anything over here behind
Stratholm? It is so much space. Does it
really make sense? because it is
Strathol. Open it up and make it open
world instead of an actual dungeon. Cuz
if it's an open dungeon and it's not
instanced anymore, if it's like an open
world thing, then you're getting rid of
Strat Live and Strath Undead and Baron
Side. Now you're removing content and I
don't think that's necessarily good.
It'd be crazy if it never got overran.
It would be. I think that could be
something really cool. I think that's
something for like a Caverns of Time
dungeon style of thing. You should keep
the dungeon, but add more behind it.
Maybe. I think there's something there.
I just I'm not creative enough to figure
out exactly what they can do with this.
But maybe there's something there. Oh my
gosh. Just look at all this space, dude.
There's this area. So this area Hey, who
remembers this area?
Any any vanilla private server PvPers?
Any vanilla duelists? You guys remember
this? Who are any of you guys like big
dual duel lords in vanilla? Yeah. Uh,
good old hen house. Good old hen house
right here.
Yep. Those are the days, man. This is a
retail arena now. Boomer. Wait, really?
So, like about 8, nine years ago, uh,
there was a there was a private server
called Hen House, which was only for
dueling. And what you would do is you
would create a character, you would
spawn in right here, and then people
would just be dueling out in this area
the whole time. It's not like a real
private server. It was just like the
duelers. We would just go there and just
like duel all day. and it would like
reset your cooldowns. Hey, actually,
hold on. This leads me to another
discussion. Again, not really for this
video. It's more of like a feature thing
that would be fun for them to add. So,
one of the cool things about Hen House
from like eight or nine years ago,
whenever it was, you would duel and then
after your duel, it would reset all your
cooldowns. It would be cool if there was
like a like ring of battle type, you
know, ring of something like a dueler's
system where you would after a duel it
would reset your cool downs. Maybe maybe
we'll talk about this another time. So
anyway, this is this is the area behind
Strathol. I mean, look at how massive
this is, dude. This is insane. Yeah,
look at all this massive area. So maybe
even if it's not Stratholm itself, I
think that there's something else to be
done here. It's a huge area, man. And
then of course,
let's not forget
one of the main areas north of the
Plague Lands. Let's go back to the road.
This way to Stratholm. But this way
in vanilla, there's a bunch of logs
here. Okay, that that blocks this path.
But beyond in Burning Crusade,
what happens?
Blood Elf starting area. Qualas.
So,
I think that you can add Quel the loss
from Burning Crusade. I think that you
can add Qualos into a classic plus. So,
if we go here, the freak. Now, I'm no
Qualos expert because I'm not really a
Horde kind of guy.
I'm not much of a Horde kind of guy, but
what is all this? Let me let me kind of
get a lay of the land here and and
figure out where we are. So, okay. Yeah,
this is the entrance. Cool. So, so when
you come in through this entrance, you
have all this different area for the
blood elves. Now, there's probably got
to be some sort of work that has to go
into the lore. Like, if they end up
doing like high elves, right? If they
end up doing high elves there, I mean,
this would be like a high elf area,
sure. But is that kind of boring if they
just go through and add something that's
already there? Probably. Like that's
probably boring. But if they find a way
to to to utilize Qu the loss and the
ghost lands and all this stuff, I think
it could be pretty cool. And it would
have to be directly related to high elf
stuff now. Oh, here's Zulan.
Dude, you could put Zolamon in the game
actually, couldn't you? Zamon, these
nuts. Okay, let's let's work our way to
Silver. Man, there's a lot of trees
here, dude. There's a hell of a lot of
trees.
Um, it's funny. Vanilla WoW looks so
scuffed if you look at it at the wrong
angle.
Oh, this is the torn up part from uh
whenever Arthus just took a massive
dump. The dead scar. Yeah, Arthus took
like a massive dump on the high elves
and u and made Kthos hate him. So, this
is the dead scar. Now maybe man it would
be cool if they it man it'd be cool if
they could find a way to to implement
this without the dead scar but the dead
scar would be man the classic minus idea
making it like a prequel could be really
good I mean kind of be like a layup too
because you don't have to come up with
something new to implement all this
stuff dude I've never ran through all of
this before when you see like the amount
of destruction and the attention to
detail dude the attention attention to
detail from the dead scar is so cool,
man. Like, if you're a Warcraft 3
player, I I didn't play Warcraft 3 until
after I'd played WoW many years prior.
Seeing seeing things like this after
playing Warcraft 3, it just hits
different, dude. It just hits different.
Just absolutely devastates
Qualthas. The high elves are left broken
and shattered and they have nothing left
and then they end up they have no choice
but to become blood elves is what Kthos
feels like. But then eventually you get
here to Silver Moon on the on the you
know it gets to this point and then you
get to Silver Moon City. This is the
entrance to Silver Moon right here. And
see it's funny cuz the blood elves are
still like they still love Kaos but Kaos
is an enemy in in Bran Crusade. You know
what I would like to see? This is what I
would like to see, man.
What if Kalethos wasn't a bad guy?
It depends on what they want to do with
like the races. Like, if they add high
elves, it could make sense that Kalethos
is not a bad guy. He's not really like a
bad guy, but he's like maybe a bad guy.
That could be cool. Now, we've covered a
lot already. We've covered a lot of
different zones that they could use for
like potential expansion in this game
and we've only
looked at places that are already in the
game in Eastern Kingdoms. This is the
this is all we've looked at. There's
plenty more, right? This is just kind of
like off the cuff. I'm running through
and just talking about stuff. I mean,
crap, dude. You have you have dead
mines. You could even have some
expansion from from dead mines, like the
backside of dead mines or really really
building out the lore of the uh like how
Stormwind was built with the Defias and
the Masons and all that. Whatever
whatever that lore is, you could build
that out more. Let's move to the other
side of the map. Let's move to Calumor.
