Bear Creek Continues To Give Us Tube Agate!

Hello and welcome back to the Rugged Rockand. We're here. Gary's here. Allan's here. So, we're back up in the uh Bear Canyon area where we found that really nice red Jasper a little while back and two baggot. We've come further up. So, that area is way down there. We've come further up. There's a light ash unit right through here we want to take a look at. Uh we've come up and there's been a lot of sections where there wasn't hardly anything, but down there just as this road goes back across the uh the little creek here. Um coming off that hill somewhere down there, found this. It's kind of like a nodule. Looks like partial seam nodule. It's really weird, but it looks nice. It should should be really nice on the inside. So what we're going to do is he's actually going to take the vehicle down there. We're going to hike down, get across the creek, and explore our way down while Island Explorers up from there into that area. So hopefully we'll find more of that down there. So here's the GPS where we're currently standing, where we're getting dropped off at. And maybe if we also explore further down there, I might give you another coordinate further down that way. Well, let's get over there. Let's see if we can find anything in that that area. I'm really hoping so because that came off of it down there. Let's see. So, I do want to say we went way up there and all the distance from here to there, we saw basically no Cal Sydney, AGOT, Jasper of any kind. The last time we saw it was down there. Maybe coming off that. But where I'm at over here, we also aren't seeing anything. So, I don't know. But I'm hoping that once we get over there, we'll find some stuff. Anyway, yeah, don't know. But there's a lot a lot a large stretch of this road where we really don't see much. So, we really are kind of taking a shot in the dark on this one, seeing if there's anything over there. But, you got to explore them to find out if there's anything there down in the wash area. So, we're down here. You can see how the volcanic rocks, see how they look different from other areas of chalice. I've noticed in areas like this, there tends to be less material, but there still is. You can see there it had a thin seam that we got some uh quartz there. South Sydney quartz. So, there's got to be some stuff. So, that's where he dropped us off. We didn't find hardly really anything in there. Here we are. We're finally up here. I see something white there. I think we're getting little bits of white seam here cuz right there and it is water lined. I like that the edge of it different from the waterline section, but they're really small so far. I'd like to see some bigger stuff, but it's a start. Oh, wait. I say I'd like to see bigger stuff. And there it is. Oh, yeah. There's one down there, too. >> Hey, look. Where do you think the seam's coming out? Yeah, >> it's right through there. So, there was the thicker piece that I saw and it is water lined. Yep. Well, that's yours. So, that's one seam. There's got to be more, right? Look at all the sulfur. >> Yep. That's a good indicator. There you go. There's the seam right there. So, yeah, there's little bits scattered all through this. They're thin seam, though, as you can see right here in the rock. The seams so far are all just really thin and nothing like really good color so far, but they do have water lines. Continue to find little seams. This one's a little bit thicker, though. Oh, I might be getting a slight caramel in this one. All right. And Gary said we should call this predictive rockhounding because before we come out, I look on Google Earth and maps, geological maps and stuff to kind of hone in on a spot that I think will have stuff. And that's why we usually find some decent things is because of the research beforehand. So predictive rockhounding, sure. Well, we left that area because it was just those thin seams. So, moving on. But came across this. Occasionally see little bits here and there, but I saw that and I was like, that looks like seam but thick. But it looks weird. Something going on with this. What is going on in there? I think there's opal in there. Huh. Well, I'll probably take that back at least for now. I think there's some opal in that, though. That might be worth Yeah, I think I think, like I said, unless I find something better and maybe I'll ditch it later. But where did that come from? We've got that bowl area we can take a look at. Well, I'm going to go here first, but then maybe go up that way because of that. Hm. Well, here's the seam cut open, and it was heavily fractured, so part of it breaking off was no surprise. Well, that is interesting stuff. Not the most pleasant color, but that is pretty neat. Gary's heading up to check out the bowl area. I decided to keep coming along the front, and I keep seeing thin seams. That's the biggest one I've seen so far, but this it's mostly just thin seams again. really thin. So, nothing special yet. We will keep exploring. So, I'm going to kind of look at that. I'll go a ways, but I might double back because like I said, that came from over there. So, might be worth it going back. Got into this little outcrop area. And I think I got a thicker piece. Yeah, there's a thicker piece of seam. Water lined like the others. Otherwise, nothing special. So, still not great, but it's something. See, thin seam right there. Just little thin seams here and there. Here's this one cut open. Yeah, it broke right along there. That's decent, though. Up and over the backside of that. That's where Gary explored. So, he didn't really find anything on the back side of that. So, that that thicker seam piece, didn't find out where that was coming from. So, we're just going to keep moving on cuz there's been so little down here in this lower area. There's been consistently thin seams, just constant. This is the thickest piece I found so far since I last filmed. And there's a little bit of banding in there. Faint. I'm going to keep following this for a bit, but eventually I think I might go up and over the ridge and see what's on the back side of it. if we don't get anything significantly better than these really thin seams. All right, so I I last filmed there. I'm here and look thicker and I think there's some plumes along the edge. Got a little bit more going on there. That's more more exciting. All right, I found it right in there. So, let's explore this area a bit. I see something right there. Just barely poking up. Just a thin one. Always lots of thin ones. Always little seams. Here's this piece of seam cut open. Oh, decent. The thick one was right below that. I didn't see anything else other than, you know, the thin ones we keep finding. Came up through here. Up through here. That is substantially bigger, though. Look at that. So, it looks like a junction. That's probably where a bunch met together, thus giving us something thicker. All right, a little better. Things are getting a little better. Hopefully, they keep getting better. You're either going that way or that way. That looks a little different. Yeah, it's an interesting seam. Got a mix of things going on in there. I think I see another interesting one up there. No, that's just volcanic. There's a thicker piece, though. A little bit. A little bit thicker. All right, Gary found a piece of seam that's a little bigger right there. And I think I see a few bigger ones right here. So, the last big one I found was over there. We came over here and Oh. Oh, well, I like that seam there. It's coming out right there. And that's pretty. You can see the waterline, the white, and the clear. And these are ones that have weathered out of it. Very nice. Oh, those might actually be tubes right there. Okay, finally seeing some evidence of tubes now. That's what we want. Some more stuff going on. All right. There's probably a few more scattered in. Let's go back to where it was coming out, though. Here's this little one cut open. Nice. Here's this one cut open. Should have water lines. It does. And a little bit more. Well, the thickest part was right there and it got thin again. So, I worked out a number of pieces, but this is the only one I really care about. That first one. [sighs] It's nice. It's a larger chunk. It's just mostly white. [snorts] I think there's a little bit of stellagite there, but I see a better seam right there. Let's take a good look at that one. That's much thicker. Yeah, that's much better. Now, if it would just add some color, like black or caramel or something. All right, here's this one cut open. We're guessing waterline. Yeah, it's got a little bit more going on, though. Those brown spots. Oh, that's neat. All right, I wanted to take just a moment and update you guys on something I heard that is kind of disappointing, but it is what it is. So, um, one of the earlier videos I did when we moved up here to the Rexburg area was when I went out with a club over to Kerry to the reservoir and looked for some of that nice uh, moss agot and I posted it. The club was really upset about that and all that stuff. Turns out because you have to go through somebody's private property to get there and he allowed access. I guess between then and now, so many people have gone through there that the uh, person who owns the land has closed the access. So, I'm I'm going to eventually update that video and put that on it. But just so you guys know, don't don't try to go to that one because the access to that is now closed. The person who owns the property that you had to drive through to get to the BLM on the other side, he's closed it. So, yep. Got to feel bad about that, but it is what it is. And you know, we make mistakes, so we just move forward, do better. So, we've come So, he dropped us off originally. Oh, sorry. Here we go. Dropped them off originally. Us originally right there. We hiked down, came across, and as we've come this way. On average, they've gotten bigger. So, that means we're heading in the right direction. We keep going this way or maybe up and over. But, we're going to go this way for a little bit. Oh, Gary's got a bigger piece. Okay, they are getting bigger. Question is, go that way or go that way. >> Oh dear. >> Getting into some pieces that look more opal. And this one >> Oh dear. >> has more of a caramelish color to it. That's a good sight sign. >> Oh dear. >> He found something. Let's go see what he found. >> Oh dear. >> Oh, I think I found some here. It's kind of an opal. That's looking nice. All right, Gary, what do you have? Oh, I think that's another piece of it right there. Well, let's look at Gary's before we worry about picking that up. Yes. Oh, now that is purple. Whoa, that's way better. Yeah, the stuff I was getting was more white. Oh, look at that. [laughter] Oh, now that's telling a complex history there. [laughter] Wow. Wonder if those are large stagactites or large tubes. I don't know. That purple though, that's that's special. Okay, we can go home now. [laughter] >> Apparently. [snorts] >> So, I think I stumbled upon the same. >> I think so. I want more of that core. That core that's all purple. >> Oh, there's some. Got a little bit myself. at least. So, I just found myself another piece of it. Very nice. So, Gary said he started seeing them here. So, it's got to be right in here somewhere. I also found an actual legitimate nodule. And it was sitting right there. So, we're into a much better looking spot here. Should be some good stuff in here. Little bits here and there. Yeah, we got to be close to it. There's lots of little pieces of it. Oh, that's not little. Just a little bit that was showing. It's still kind of little, but good. Yeah, it's got to be in here because there's so much of it coming out. There's the little nodule cut open. Oh, there's a little bit going on there. Here's this one cut open. Okay. It is quite fractured, but nice. Well, here's my largest piece of that seam area. Come on, purple. Okay, it's got a bit. That's neat stuff. Well, it's getting more of an orange color coming up further. So, the main mass of the purple was right in here, which means the seam of it probably in here under all this rock. It's kind of more your traditional. So, got a little bit of purple in it. A little bit a hint. This one was quite fractured. So, a few pieces broke off. Very neat looking stuff though, but boy is it fractured. Well, we're pretty sure the main mass is in there. I decided to come down and pick up any other loose pieces. Found a few small ones. That's the best so far. and another little piece of the AGOT. But anyway, we're going to we're going to keep heading in that direction. Today, I'm not going to really do any digging. I actually injured my elbow a little bit. It's kind of got a tennis elbow going on, so I'm not doing any real digging today. Just surface collecting. But anyway, let's keep moving that way. Here's some more of that seam with that purple in it. So, it comes and goes as they do. There's that piece of opal. >> Yep. More of the opal. >> But I got more of the purple. Just not as good. >> Uh-huh. >> But it's here. So, it keeps coming and going. Maybe there's a spot where it gets really nice. >> Mhm. >> Just found this one a little further down. It's got a kind of a nice orange almost red right there. All right. The opal is really easy to spot. It just shines at you. It's so white. Boom. That one. Not so much. Oh, I like right there. Might be more deeper in. Okay, that's decent. Like to get some bigger ones though, like what Gary found over there. Oh, there's another little piece. A little bit of a purple in that one, too. Here's this one cut open. It broke a little bit. There we go. Okay, that's an interesting piece. Since we found Gary initially found it right through there, and then we started seeing pieces of it again right through here, I decided to zigzag back up heading this way. Just a little bit so far, but there might be something bigger right there. So, let's go take a look at that. Yeah, I sat down to take a water break. Let's walk over there and see if it's that stuff or if it's just a cowpie cuz there's a lot of those out here. Oh, that's exactly what it is. Oh, wait. No, it's just coating on the surface. A little bit of brown jasper. All right. It's good to see Jasper again. Well, it's been a few minutes. After you get up a certain point, you just really don't see much anymore. Checked through that. Didn't really see much. Gary's gone through that. I keep seeing a little more of the same, but not much. This is the first nice little botch rut piece I've seen. It's a little, but it's nice. Anyway, nothing really special, though. So, we're just going to keep heading in this direction. Look at that. A thick piece of seam and nothing else anywhere around it. This happens a lot in this area. Hm. Well, there's the truck. That's where Allan parked it. So, now we know where he's at, or at least where he parked it. Okay, I'm going to keep heading downward. Here's this waterline piece cut open. Nice. Good old classic water line. So, I had gone high, Gary had gone low, and it has been less and less as we've come this way to where now we're seeing basically nothing. I do see something white over there, though. So hopefully that's something h well yeah we'll keep working at some point though I am going to go up and over cuz now that we're not seeing much might go over to the other side. So I was in contact with Allan. He's here on the left side further down and he said he's in a spot where he's got some good agot a little bit of color in some of it. So this is what we're going to do. Gary's going to actually head and pick up the truck and take it further down. He'll see what that white thing is. I'm going to go up and over the ridge to see what's on the other side and eventually meet them further down. Sounds like a plan. Well, I've come up all this. Gary told me that white thing was nothing. I've been seeing basically nothing except for tiny tiny shards. And then I saw these and that a little bigger piece of seam. Some nice botch on the edge that's green. That's nice, isn't it? Yeah. And a few other little pieces. Well, it's improving at least. Here's this thin one cut open. Oh, cool. Look at those dendrites. Neat. Well, things suddenly improved. So, the other ones I found were right there. Came up and I see this and I think it's caramel. It is. Look at that. And I started glancing around. I see other pieces. There might be some more that are caramel on the inside. Yeah, little pieces. Oh, are there just a little growing on it? That one doesn't quite look like it's caramel. Oh, that looks a little better. Right. That's improvement. That's got a caramel color to it. Or maybe a root beer. Well, it's more caramel. Here's this little piece of the caramel cut open. All right. Nice color. Here's this little piece of seam cut open. All right. That's good looking. What's this? That's nothing. Oh, there's a little piece. I don't see any caramel in that one, though. Okay. Well, little bit here and there. It's got to be coming out in here somewhere. And just like other places, found a few decent ones and then they kind of disappear. Just little seams that come and go. And as you can see, there's still a few little pieces up here, but they've all been very thin. Nothing really that I want to keep. So, on we go. So, once I got out of that and into kind of this stuff again, I found some more of the caramel here. And I think this is one, too. Okay. Yep. A little bit. All right. Any more? Here's this thin piece of caramel cut open. Oh, nice. That's That's just a beautiful color. Here's this little one cut open. All right. Decent. Well, I made it to the ridge line. I've come up and over. I haven't seen much other than the thin seams here and there, but usually when I see a thin seam now, I'm seeing more caramel. So, as we continue to go in this direction, I hope that's what keeps improving. Because if he's down there, which is what it sounds like, then as I get closer, it should get like that. But I'm gonna kind of weave down this way, maybe over to that side. I want to know if there's anything there before heading down to where Allan and Gary will soon be. The small seam pieces have definitely been picking up. And there's something different right there. Looks like some of that opal. Very fractured, but it has color in it. Maybe we'll get some good stuff. That's a bit more solid. That might be worth taking and cutting just to see. Well, hello to Bagot. Thank you. So, yeah, I keep coming through. Keep seeing thin seams here and there. Occasionally something interesting, but now things got a lot. But what's this? Oh, we got a little bit inside of that. But there we go. Some nice tubes. Let's set my pack down here. And grab some of this beautiful material. Very nice indeed. Well, well, well. All right. That's a happy find. A very happy find. We'll have to dig into it a little bit because it's definitely coming out right here. I know I said I wasn't going to dig much, but it won't take much to scratch a little bit into the surface here. All right. Oh, yeah. Look at that piece. Oh, yes, indeed. [gasps] That's going to be awesome. Okay, let's dig this area up a bit. Very nice. Yeah, it's been kind of a slow day so far. That purple zone that Gary found was nice, but it was nice to find something on my own. [laughter] [gasps] All right, let's dig into this. Here's this one cut open. How much is volcanic? How much is the AGOT stuff? A decent amount, actually. I like that. So yeah, there's that nice big one. Those other nice ones that were just sitting there on the surface waiting for me to grab them. All right, it's coming out right through here. Let's just start grabbing all the little pieces that look like they have some nice tube structure on them or stellagtites basically. Very nice. Yep. [laughter] It's like Christmas. Just dig into the ground and all this beautiful stuff comes out. I got to be careful with my right arm. Trying to do the work mostly mostly with my left arm. There's some more right there. Okay, this is going to be a big one right there. Let me see if I can move this rock right here. It might make it a little easier for you guys to see. Try and angle that camera a little better, maybe. All right. So, now that I've removed that rock, some of this out of the way, too. This should right here be tube. material. There it is. [snorts] Sweet. Yeah, we'll get home and wash all this off and I'll have to show you it all washed off. Ah, because it's still got the cave formations. A lot of it's just fractured to pieces. Just little pieces all over. But even those are beautiful. Okay. So, the the seam ran right across the edge of this. I think I might move my position up here to sit. Ah, yeah. That might give me a better vantage point. There's a nice piece of it. Little piece. Lots of little pieces. >> [laughter] >> See, they're just little twigs. It's like finding little petrified branches. Can see them poking up right here. Just work it loose. There we go. More. Very nice. I know it's not the best vantage point for you guys to see it, but it's so dirty you can't really see it anyway. So, I'll have to show you after I get it home and wash it off. Which is true, too, when you're like digging for like crystals in crystal pockets. A lot of the time they're so dirty that when you pull them out, you can't you can hardly tell it's even a crystal until you wash it off. Okay, that's the edge rock, which means that should be stelactites. Very nice. All these ones that have fractured off, unfortunately, as they do when they get to the surface. And this will probably just keep going down for quite a ways. I'm obviously not going to dig all of it out here today. Just going to dig a fair amount of it. Enjoy it. And look at this weather temperature. Ah, this one you could really see. Look at that. See, that's what it's all in that pile there. Is that beautiful stuff. All right, that's the volcanic rock. So, that's the edge right there. And there's the stelactites coming off of this stuff right next to it. Cal Sydney. Cal Sydney stelagtites. That's That's what two baggot is is stellagites of Cal Sydney that have been encased in more Cal Sydney. That's a good amount right there cuz I can see I'll grab you guys. Bring you in. So, this is what I've been digging into. You can see the rough edge there and the stelagtite edge right there. So, this is all part of it right through here. Yeah. Well, we got that piece and that's where it's coming off of the volcanic rock. It's just on that edge there. Well, that's the last thing I'm trying to get out and it is solidly attached. So, I may or may not get it out. We'll see. It is solidly attached from here to here, all the way across in there. And I tried to break from this side, but it just wasn't and it was damaging it. So, I'm just gonna leave it there. We'll go with what we've got here, which is a good pile. [laughter] That one's killer. Lots of good stuff in there, though. I just quickly laid out some of them. I've just done a kind of a quick wash. They definitely need more cleaning, but as you can see, came back with quite a bit. And they're pretty neat, huh? Me get those stellagite pieces. Whoops. And then, of course, I still have plenty more of it. I just laid out some of it. As I've been coming down this, I've seen some uh opal. And this looks like more, but a little bit bigger of a piece. Interesting. Yeah, a decent amount of opal in this area. Here's this one cut open. Yeah, about what I thought. It's interesting though. As I've been coming down, I'm seeing something down there that looks interesting. Oh, there's more of it right there. Yeah, I was going to say it looks kind of like what he Gary had found on the other side that had the purple in it. Yeah, I'm not seeing as much purple in this, but the size is great. Let's roll that down. Let's take a look at some of these other ones. See if there's any better color in any of this. Oh, that that's much better looking, I think. [laughter] Okay, that might come back with me. Going to set that down there. My hand pick next to it. [snorts] Okay, it's thick stuff, but qualitywise, that's questionable. There's a lot of it. It's coming right out through here. Okay, that's getting a little closer to that purple. I think that's a little bit more of a black though. Yeah. Unfortunately, I was filming for a while with that [laughter] two baggot and the battery is really low. So, got to be careful because the other battery I left at the vehicle cuz I was going to film a second video today. That looks kind of nice. Okay, getting a little better there. And look at that big piece. All right, here's this one cut open. This should be quite interesting. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that is neat. I like that. I wouldn't mind more of that. Here's this big piece cut open. It was very fractured, so some pieces broke off. But that is what we got inside. I do like what's going on, especially with some of that red. Circles are cool. Too bad it's really fractured. I bet though we could we could probably find some pieces up there that aren't so fractured. To me, this looked like the best piece from that area. So, I figured this would kind of give us the look at what the stuff looks like when it's good. And it does not disappoint. That is pretty neat material. Very different from uh other places we've been. I do like that. Cool. Here's this one cut open. Oh, very nice. That's a decent eggot. Here's this tiny thing cut open. Okay. Not what I thought. Here's this little one cut open. Oh, cool. Here's this tiny thing cut open. Tiny but beautiful. Look at that. And back down at the vehicle. Well, that was nice. That turned out really well.
