Video summary
In this episode, Mike Israetel and Chris engage in a workout session focused on back and shoulders while addressing complex issues regarding modern masculinity. The conversation begins withIsraetel's humorous admission of starting his day by watching adult films before transitioning into serious discussions about the state of men today. He challenges the narrative that "modern men are struggling" as an epidemic, arguing instead that it is largely a result of selection bias where only those who fail to meet intergenerational socioeconomic expectations complain. Israetel posits that while many men feel they have fallen behind compared to their parents or peers on social media, statistically, men live in the most prosperous era ever recorded; however, this prosperity does not alleviate feelings of inadequacy driven by comparison and a lack of purpose. The dialogue delves into specific systemic factors contributing to male distress, particularly housing affordability which Israetel attributes to excessive government regulation rather than market forces alone. He suggests that solving issues like the London housing crisis requires deregulation and approving every safe building permit immediately. Beyond economics, he identifies two primary buckets for addressing male struggles: philosophical needs such as belonging, social cohesion, and a sense of purpose, versus socioeconomic hurdles like dropping out of university at high rates due to its overvaluation relative to earnings in early adulthood. He emphasizes that men must take solutions into their own hands rather than relying on political machines which he fears might swing toward fascism or communism depending on the demographic pressure. A significant portion of the interview is dedicated to personal anecdotes regarding Israetel's recent surgery and his unique approach to physical enhancement, including steroid use and plans for future body contouring procedures like skin removal and mesh reinforcement around his waistline. He contrasts his own "machine-like" utilitarian view on surgical enhancements with typical aesthetic goals, noting that he aims for a relaxed torso appearance similar to others rather than just visible veins or abs. The discussion also touches upon mental health strategies, specifically citing Sam Altman's success with meditation as a tool to manage anxiety and regain access to one's mind, though Israetel notes his own preference for unguided sessions over guided ones which he finds distracting during practice. Throughout the session, there is an underlying tension between isolationist "lone wolf" culture promoted by internet algorithms featuring figures like Andrew Tate versus the need for real-world community connection through gyms, sports clubs, and mentorship. Israetel argues that while independence feels empowering to some lonely individuals, it ultimately leads to emptiness without genuine social integration. He encourages men to build meaningful relationships with partners, children, or family members and to engage in local communities rather than seeking validation from online comment sections dominated by antagonistic users. The episode concludes withIsraetel reinforcing the idea that sustainable motivation comes from a baseline of deep peace rather than chaotic stimulation, urging listeners to actively pursue purposeful goals and reject the passive consumption of content designed for isolated audiences.

Touch all the way to the bottom if you
can. Round your whole back forward.
Shoulders forward. Yes. That last inch
is a big deal.
Shut the up. That's why I'm coming.
Go to answer all of your questions. No,
I'm not human.
One more. Chris, touch that chest.
Go, go, go, go.
[Music]
What did you do today? What did I do?
Uh, started with an adult film. Starring
or started started my day with an adult
film. Are you starring in it or did you
I star in all my adult films. I am the
only star. It's a video of me at home
masturbating. I continued uh with
another adult film. Then I recorded an
adult film, edited an adult film,
watched another adult film, this one
just for pleasure. Yep. and I'm here.
What a wonderful day. I get to see me.
So, down to the adult film that we're
filming today. I'm uh Oh, yes.
Yeah, that's true. The guy's really only
up to one thing. Anyway, um we should
lift things. Are are you open to any
kind of workout? Are you okay to jump in
with me on my workout? Well, it depends
what it is, but yeah. Oh. Um it's a back
and shoulders. Super down. Could not be
more down. Wow, that's easy. real quick.
I don't mean to bother you.
I'm like, I love working out, but like
motivation's tough to find. Can you tell
me something totally off? Like the thing
that really gets me going for workouts
is if I know a piece of information like
through HIPPA that I'm not supposed to
know. That [ __ ] gets fired up. Give me
crazy this [ __ ] Just anything,
please. [ __ ] a client name, their
address, and their exact debilitating
condition that I can like somehow I
don't know like scam them out of money
for intro. An intro. Uh, run it back.
There is there is there is no intro.
We're here. We're going to lift some
things. You heard us talking. Mike made
a gentleman feel uncomfortable. Tried to
contravene Hipper. Now, we're going to
do back and shoulders. Back and
shoulders. First, we get people's
medical records. Flop through them
shits. See some [ __ ] like, "Oh, damn."
Put it away. [ __ ] gets us fired up. We
get our perfect hairline together. Look
at that hairline.
Mustache
baldness. I committed a murder and I'm
trying to redo my look so that I can't
be You look like a murderer. Oh, god
damn it. I went in the wrong direction
to be found. Why don't you get the
sunglasses and the hat, too, to really
complete the look? Yeah. The [ __ ] big
rimless [ __ ] Yeah. Okay. Um
I'm white enough to be a murderer. Yeah.
Yeah. Oh yeah. You know, you ever notice
like black serial killers, bro? Preach.
And and the Asians will do nothing
nothing until they lose it and like in
Canada they'll cut some guy's head off
on a bus and then that's it and then
nothing for 50 years. Whites every day
we out here doing that [ __ ] Uh if
there's if there is a a a woman with
cats that lives all by herself and only
calls her mom once a week, that [ __ ] is
on a [ __ ] timeline for whites to come
get her and murder that [ __ ] She was
so sweet. Everyone would say later, she
never did anything to hurt anyone. Chris
is in there hacking that [ __ ] Not you,
Chris. Another murderer. Chris, also
white. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. British.
Um, back and shoulders. Back and
shoulders. Let's go work out. Okay. I
always warm up like this. Arm circles.
Yeah. It's like a dude. I'm seven again.
Yeah. Hell yeah. I'm seven again. Is
this Is it What is this? It's a twist.
Guess guess where I'm from originally?
Russia. Yeah. Russian twist. Ah, it's a
Russian Russian twist. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Uh, and then I just so I just basically
I used to not do this like generations
ago. I wouldn't warm up my core in the
prehistoric times in the Yes. when
dinosaurs roamed the earth. And uh I
used to get pull like some oblique
muscles like doing some [ __ ] and ever
since I started kind of warming up the
core. It just helps the warm up. It's
really some com combination of autism
and obsessivempulsive disorder. Mhm.
Holding on to some balls. Holding on to
balls.
Okay.
Yeah. [ __ ] all that. Ugly. Ugly. You
know what, Chris? Let's just do this guy
right here. Yeah. This is grippy. Oh,
you're adult adult height. Can you uh
I'll trade you here.
[Music]
10 to 12. Cool. Good technique. really
uh control that last top half and then
gently touch at the bottom. This feels
nice. Yeah,
this does feel good. Feels a little more
sensual than any piece of gym equipment
should do. It really feels like it's
communicating with your body. Like that
scene in Ghost where that [ __ ] like
grabs the pottery all sex-like.
Nice and easy, Chris. So, super just
warm up.
There you go. Is that a Gym Shark piece
of attire that was precut? So, it came
like this. Yeah, like a football top, I
guess. That's cool. I really like it. I
think that
the making it wider on the shoulders is
kind of It's like I think it's a cool
look. It's a cool look. I'm really
jealous. It makes you a little It's
faking being wider, right? I I really
want Do have you ever seen a Jay Cutler
wear one of those styles of shirts?
Yeah, but like old '90s, right? Right.
But like same style. Yep. He looked
ridiculous. It's a cool look, dude. He's
already huge. And then that shirt is
like, man, honestly, my wife and I are
obsessed with grime. What about drill?
How do you feel about drill? Drill. What
I think that you're referring to as
grime will almost certainly partly be
drill. Okay. So, it's generally people
standing in what looks like a
dilapidated backyard with a car that
they think is a nice car, but was a nice
car in 19 uh sometimes. And they're
wearing like like clothes you would wear
if you had worn the same thing for two
days and just got back from a soccer
match and and but sagged and
this is drill. This is drill. Okay. That
[ __ ] same [ __ ] Yeah, drill's [ __ ]
sectic. It causes a lot of knife crime,
but it's really sick. Well, they
literally threaten each other with knife
crime in the lyrics, correct? So, this
is drill. You're listening. It's more of
a preparation than a threat. Sick drill
as well just replete for good puns. Way
more than grind. Oh, nice. Okay. Okay.
Drill. It is
five or six. Nice little warmup. Heavy
load. Nice little And then uh the next
set we'll do is probably going to be
work set. Smooth pull. Big stretch at
the top.
That was a 1 minute and 5second set
there, sir. Oh, yeah. Anything 45
seconds to a minute 15 generally hits.
What's the goal here? Get around 18. Get
in that upper teens range. So, I'm going
to have to drop this. I'm not going to
be able to match you on this. 150 for
you.
And then close to failure. Okay.
Beautiful.
Yeah, British rappers are so much cooler
than American rappers. So much cooler.
They're so much poorer as well. Yes,
they were like, I can believe that
you're street. Yes, you probably do stab
people cuz you can't afford a gun. 100%.
That's extra scary. You know the
scariest ever thing? Poverty. Yeah,
that's what's real [ __ ] scary.
Oh god.
Big stretch at the top. There you go.
Yep. Really lean forward at the top.
Good.
Couple more.
One more. Chris, touch that chest.
That's slow. Control. Big stretch. Rack.
Now I'm awake. Feels good. I really feel
awake. This one's for Kanye.
Reps for Kanye. Reps for Kanye.
Very good. It's 18 again. Thank you,
sir. Uh 15. Okay. I always have huge rep
drop offs.
Why is that? Do you think Oh, my muscles
get tired. Right.
I think if typically if you're working
closer to failure, you have a higher
probability
oops rep fall off. Yeah. Unless you're
taking really long rest breaks. Yeah. Or
unless it's a small relatively weaker
muscle. Mhm. Then it can recover
quickly. Calms or something. Yeah.
There we go.
Yep. One more, Chris. Big stretch. Slow.
One last one.
Slow. I don't think we've even never
talked about this. What do you make
around the modern men are lost and
struggling and don't know what to do or
who to be or where to go type thing?
Do you ever consider that? Is that any
Okay. Absolutely. I guess that a lot of
your app will be servicing guys trying
to find modern struggling men. Oh, a
great adult film series. Modern
struggling men. They're struggling
because they're tied up, Chris. By other
men who are less modern.
Um,
there's a lot to say. I would say I like
to start almost every thought space
with claims like these with the same
start almost every time which is to say
there's a claim of a phenomenon modern
men are struggling
two things I need to know
evidence how does it compare to before
so if you tell me modern men are
struggling I need two things one Are
they struggling?
How do you know?
There is good evidence to collect that
they are. But the vast majority of
people that say modern men are
struggling are just going off of like
their perception of some small corner of
the internet where modern men go to
struggle. And so if you have a thousand
people in the whole world that are
struggling, you're going to find them
one Reddit sub thread and you're going
to be like, "This is a [ __ ]
epidemic." And it's not. The other thing
is modern men are struggling.
So, are we to assume there is good
reason to believe that men are
struggling more today than they did in
generations past? Well, there may be
good reasons to believe that, but there
are very good reasons to be skeptical.
One is like back in the day when you
struggled, you shut your [ __ ] mouth
about it.
So, how the [ __ ] do we know men were
struggling back on the internet? No, you
you actively avoided broadcasting it.
You just lived in shame your whole life
or you offed yourself or whatever. It
used to be a thing all the [ __ ] time.
Mhm. you know, like, damn, we used to be
tougher back in the day. Like, no, you
bullied everyone into shutting the [ __ ]
up. Yeah. So, yeah, it's funny about um
the conversation between boomer
generation, millennial generation, and
sort of Gen Z or Gen A. And it's one
generation repressed it, another
generation medicated it, and a final
generation self harm their way through
it. Yeah. You know, each had their
different coping mechanism. Yes. Um
Yeah. It's but it's by no means clear
which one of those generations was more
jilted. Usually I assume historically
things were worse because usually they
were. So to say modern men are
struggling. This is probably
historically men struggled 10 times more
than they do today. The problem might be
modern men aren't struggling enough.
Well I think my my opinion maybe that's
the struggle. The struggle against no
struggle. My my opinion on this is that
they are and they are in a marketly
different way to the way that most
generations previously have that we've
got records of because
do this first and then we can do it. Let
me do this really quick. Do this. Don't
do it quick. Do it [ __ ] well. Yep.
Good.
I've noticed you have a particular look
of disdain in your face when you observe
the the handles at the bottom of the
wrap. Yeah. It's like a Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just
an artifact of being like this trying to
not get hit in the face. No extra
disdain down there.
Um so my reason behind modern men are
struggling in a way which is potentially
unique is that even though economists
can and do regularly say like for like
even when you adjust for inflation even
when you adjust for house prices it's
the wealthiest most prosperous most
comfortable best that everything has
ever been ever. Yeah. That's not
people's experience. People's experience
is intergenerational competition theory.
It's how am I doing at my stage of life
compared to how I think my parents were
doing at the same stage of life in their
idealized recollection. Well, of course,
but you don't have generation on
generation, you know, going silent
generation to boomers or whatever, you
had such an upswing in prosperity that
there was no place even for your my
parents had it easier bias to fit in.
It's like [ __ ] look at the size
of the house we're in. Look how many
dogs we got. Sure. We they they could
barely afford to eat. We got two cars.
we go on holidays. Yeah. Um and then
that's just flattened out in terms of
quality of life, I think, for the way
that people feel they should be living.
Like what is it that I think that I
should have compared with the rest of
the world? People who are at the top of
the tree that I see on Instagram
comparison game. And then also
what is the idealized version of where
my parents are at?
There you go, Chris. Big stretch.
Yeah, there you go.
Yep. Big stretch.
Go, go, go, go, go. Slow.
That's it.
Okay. So, our men struggling and is it
different to previous generations?
Evidence and comparison. Yeah. The other
thing that's uh going to muddy the water
a little bit is um
get a huge selection bias, self-
selection to complaining, which isn't a
bad thing. People should complain when
things are bad. But you like take uh men
that have exceeded their father's
socioeconomic relative status, you're
not going to hear him talk about it.
It's a weird flex.
men that have not exceeded their
father's socioeconomic status,
they're going to be upset about it.
They're going to look for people to
blame. When you do well, you typically
assign the responsibility of well,
either to random luck or to yourself.
When you do poorly, if you're the
average person, you're looking for
someone to blame. It's our It's our It's
our system. It's the system. Whatever.
or however much you know about systems,
probably none. Uh and then our parents,
it's some kind of, you know, the parents
[ __ ] us a little bit. It's their
system. Uh you pick like a middleman
minority, uh like the Lebanese in
Africa, the uh overseas Chinese and most
of Asia, the Jews for everyone. You pick
on them, you're like, "These rich
[ __ ] are the reason I'm fucked." And
and all the way down the line. And so,
you know, are men struggling on the
whole? Men are in absolutely the best
position they've ever been by a long
shot. Are there legitimate struggles
that men have that are either the same
struggles they used to have that could
be better attended to or are there
struggles are having that are new? Yes.
Unequivocally yes. Many men, not all
men, not most men, but like if most men
aren't struggling and say it's 60% not
struggling, 40% of young men struggling
is literally like what I don't know
hundreds of millions of people or
something. Mhm. And so that's a big
deal. So what I like to do is try not to
go overboard on the mass societal and
systemic fingerpointing cuz some of
that's just not an evidence or really
difficult to disentangle. What I like to
do is try to figure out what is the
struggle. How can we help in a way that
doesn't like disentangle the whole
economy because you know a lot of times
people be like it's the [ __ ] system
man. Tell me about the system. Here's
macroeconut
the [ __ ] up. You don't know economics.
willfully you don't know economics and
you're not going to help. Um you know a
lot of people are like talking about
like the in the UK uh it's more
difficult relatively speaking to get
housing than it used to be.
Why?
Purely an artifact of government
regulation. Government regulation
supported by almost everyone by the way.
rent control, environmental controls, uh
standards and quality controls,
licensing permits, uh what's called uh
nimi, not in my backyard regulations.
Like I don't want that building's too
tall. You want to you can solve the
housing crisis in London in however long
it takes to build residential two years.
You can solve it entirely. You can one
half rent in London by 2028. Easy. You
just grant every permit anyone applies
for for a safe multi-level housing
complex in a residentially zoned area.
As long as it's not going to collapse
and kill everyone, you just say yes. And
then enough of them get built by supply
and demand. It's just going to get cut
in half. No one's about to approve that.
Oh, but it's my London. I lived on the
street, bro. I don't want some big
[ __ ] building there, man. O. And then
all of a sudden, I start Australian for
a second. I start I start every
Australian impression. boy. Yeah. God,
the Australians are so great. Every
Australian man I've ever met, hot
and most of them look exactly like you,
the ironic haircut and everything. And
Australian women, don't even [ __ ] get
me started, bro. As soon as I hear the
first the first that I'm like,
ladies, I love you. I'm totally kidding.
Jared Feather exists. He's single. You
have to be Southeast Asian to apply.
them is the rules.
Latinos, you could get it to, but
there's just not a lot of you in the
Australasia region.
All right,
enough [ __ ] yapping, brothers. It's
war time.
Come on, Mike.
Dig in, Mike. Come on.
Assuming that some
proportion of men are struggling in some
ways that are meaningful and really
[ __ ] suck their quality of life.
Yeah. How have you come to give me a way
in which men are struggling and me you
and I can think of some ways that maybe
some some solutions can be worked
towards? So there's I guess two broad
buckets that I can think of. One would
be more philosophical. That's life,
direction, purpose, belonging, social
cohesion, integration, sense of being
valued by society, uh role, something to
aim for. Uh empathy, uh support. People
feel for me and care about me and want
people like the people care about me, my
group in a way that makes me feel like I
belong. Yeah. one side, other side,
socioeconomics,
like dropping out of university at very
very high rates. That's a good thing.
The university is insanely overvalued. I
say just don't enroll in the first place
is probably best advice. Uh-huh. Uh but
that's also translating into they're now
earning less by a pretty big margin than
their female counterparts
up to now into early 30s. It was just up
until 29 and now it's creeping into the
30s. And it's not an insignificant
amount of money, you know, it's like
like multi-digit like double digit
percent of differences. So that seems
like a, you know, the problem with
talking about this is that it sounds as
soon as you compare men to women, it
sounds like what you can do is or the
proposal is to bring women back. And you
go, no, it's simply just a a marker in
the ground of this didn't used to be the
way and two things have happened. Women
have ascended in a manner that men
haven't been able to. Can we not like
chew gum and walk at the same time? Can
we not raise men up while we raise women
up? Uh and also well it just suggests
that men maybe are falling behind in a
way like it could be that women have
taken over and men have stayed still or
that women have taken over and men have
also dipped back at the same time. But
I'll lift a thing. I have lots lots to
say. I'll lift a thing first.
finish slope big stretch all the way
through rack.
Um
I'm so pissw weak in this position. It's
insane. You know what? Just because of
how many pull-ups you can do. Yep.
You're fundamentally you have the muscle
to be strong there. Yep. It's just a
neural issue. Okay. So So we're hook and
feet under here. Feet under. Make sure
they're nice and firmly towed in. Phil's
towed.
And then the yep, false grip. Straight
arms. Reach back behind yourself. Slow.
It's going to get harder the lower you
go. Cool. And then just try going deeper
every single time. And give yourself a
second down there. There you go.
Good. Do you want to bend your elbows?
That helps sometimes. Let me see. That
is so [ __ ] hard. Holy [ __ ] you're
good for 30 next time. You'll feel much
better. It's really good for developing
shoulder mobility, right? So, if you
struggle with that, um, which I do. Yep.
Just kind a little bit deeper every rep
and and that's it. Well, on your weight.
Imagine this is good for Brazilian
jiu-jitsu stuff. Sure. Yeah. There's a
snap down. You know, snap down is
ghee or no ghee works better than the
ghee. Mhm. I come here. Mhm. I push you.
You push back. I snap you down. You fall
down. I come around. and take your back.
Yep. Uh if you're really strong at this
heavy snapdown game, real tough real
tough to handle. Actually works really
well in uh in street fights, too. Have
you been in many street fights? Not
many. No. And not zero since I started
formal training. Wow. Uh which is both
ironic and predictable and a shame.
Yeah. Is the way you look at someone
when you've been training a long time,
they're usually like if they're the kind
of person that gets in the fights, they
feel a vibe a little bit and they're
like,
Ah, [ __ ] that guy. Also, with me
particularly, like, where do I attack?
He has a giant callous.
And he's just ugly. I mean, I don't want
to be I don't want to be seen cuz if a
girl sees you beating up a good-looking
guy like Chris, she's like, "Oh my god,
that's like my new alpha male. He's like
my king." But like, if a girl sees you
beating my ass, she's like, "Oh my god,
he's like fighting a pig. It's
disgusting." I don't want to like see
this anymore. You touched it.
That stretch is insane.
Holy [ __ ]
Yeah. Wow. Chris. Wow. Me, man. You look
[ __ ] ridiculous. Some [ __ ] real
[ __ ] You got like You're saying I look
[ __ ] sweet. You got these delts in
these veins. How much are you tan?
Sunny. Texas. Sunny. You like never see
sun, eh?
Like where you where you live? Michigan
tons in the summer. Cold a lot. What's
it like in the summer? I've never I've
never been to Michigan.
80s, 90s, humid. Okay. We have a real
summer. Okay. But you have a [ __ ]
real [ __ ] winter, too. The
realest. Wow. Michigan people already
know. Good technique here, Chris. You
can bend those elbows a little bit if it
helps. Oh, there we go. Good stuff, man.
Good. Deep. Deep.
Good. Slow. Controlled.
Three. Now rest. Don't go anywhere. Put
the bar down on your chest. Breathe.
Just breathe.
Four more and you're done. Hit it.
So, Chris, I uh noticed your arms were
pretty hairy.
Okay.
Is that a It is. It is a thing. But I
have to tell you, my friend, that you
may be familiar with the fact that there
are levels to this hair gang.
You're like Wolverine.
Indeed. I didn't know that Jews had so
much hair. They do? You didn't know
that? No. Are they hairy rice? They're
hairy above the head. We come in
different flavors. I am of the Eastern
European, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish Jew
variety. Okay. Yeah. And we are [ __ ]
animals, Chris. Good. Who's the famous
most famous of your ethnic group apart
from you?
Most famous? Yeah. Sergey Brin. Okay.
Yeah, that's pretty [ __ ] famous. I
don't call him famous. Infamous. Yeah.
Jesus [ __ ]
The man that runs kind of the world now.
Kind of the world.
Heard a really cool podcast with Sam
Alman talking about how meditation was
kind of the formative thing that just
fixed his entire life. Damn. It's a
really cool podcast. I'll send it to
you. It's a really [ __ ] cool podcast.
He's got seems to have his mind
together. I'm a huge fan. He worked at
it. He didn't. and he trained it, which
is really that's even more cool to me
because I there's something people that
are naturally talented or they've just
got I have some friends who just have
this regulated poise. Yeah. And they you
know they're into the grounding mindful
practices and you know they're the rest
ethic people. Yeah. But I've never I've
talked and I've poked and I prodded and
I've never found a bit where they said,
"Oh yeah, I had anxiety attacks all the
time." Well, also they're not so useful
for wisdom for you because they don't
know how they got what they got. You're
like, "How do I deal with my shit?"
They're like, "I don't [ __ ] know.
That sucks." You know? Yeah. It's like,
"Do you want to learn to bench from the
guy that's got short arms?" It's like,
"No, the guy that's got [ __ ] real
long arms." Long arms and a [ __ ] chest.
If he benches more than last year, I
don't know what he's doing. Yes. Yes.
Don't mind. Uh Sam Alman, he's the
founder of OpenAI, the CEO of Open AAI.
He was And he's saying, "Uh, I had
anxiety attacks all the time. I couldn't
make great decisions. My level of
anxiety was so
all-encompassing and overwhelming that I
basically didn't have access to my own
mind and it was getting in the way of me
doing stuff. Come on, Mike. Dig in now.
Here we go.
Yep.
Yeah.
And again.
Great rep. Wow. Oh, thank you. Thank
you. Thank you. Uh yeah, I didn't have
access to my full mind and I just
committed to doing an hour a day of
meditation. I just did an hour a day of
meditation until it stopped. An hour.
[ __ ] me. Real [ __ ] For my ADD ass. That
is tough. I do 10 minutes now. Yep.
After every workout pretty much. Daily
his daily meditation. Yeah. Yeah. So you
won't have done today's yet? Well, so I
don't I don't Sometimes I do the daily,
sometimes I do a random, sometimes I
just do my own. Okay. where I just said
Unguided. Yeah. Y which he recommends
too. I like Unguided. Like Unguided
would be my preference, but if I'm like,
[ __ ] like I need some train tracks to
keep. One of the problems I have with
we're talking about Sam Harris's Wake Up
App. I like it. I think it's the best of
the bunch. Uh better than Headspace,
better than Calm. Although I've done
maybe 500 to a,000 sessions on Headspace
when I first started. Wow. Um so Andy
Pudd Andy lovely. The one thing I wish
and it must be strange being a
meditation course teacher. What I want
is you to shut the [ __ ] up mostly. Well,
so that's the thing with guided
meditation is they talk and I'm just
paying attention to the words. Correct.
I'm not doing them [ __ ] what I'm
supposed to be. So I'm like I I wish
that maybe there are if you go into the
advanced ones like what I want is 30% of
the speaking. Yeah. I want that would be
about money. Say some [ __ ] Let me
breathe a little bit. Explain about
sitting back in the mind. And you have
to understand this about thoughts
because you'll see how flimsy my god I'm
[ __ ] thinking about you. How can I
not? Yeah. You feel the same? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean I And some of his
insights are [ __ ] money about the
mind. But not when I'm trying to
meditate. Yeah. 100%.
Yes. Yes. You do. You want to spot it
just when you go beyond range. Like you
want someone That's a really good way to
put it. Like a meditation spotter.
That's cool.
Glower. Hang out there a little more.
Two more.
One more. Deep. Yes. Rest. Breathe.
That's it. Gorgeous. Okay, that was your
third set. That was your last. I'm going
to do one more and we're all set here.
up for that. My favorite new exercise of
probably the last 5 years. Lateral raise
thing that you guys taught me. Oh, nice.
Dude, it [ __ ] rips. We said this last
time. People that think they want big
arms don't want big arms. They want big
shoulders and then like arms that look
okay. Sure. And then big arms also. Yes.
But you want There's always when you
have big shoulders and you feel like a
wide king, there's always some [ __ ]
with big arms that walks in and your
girlfriend's like, "Why don't you like
look like that?" You like laughed and
you're like, "Oh, you [ __ ] piss."
Yeah. Come on.
Yep.
Miserable. Miserable. Let me put that
away, please. Oh, no. I got it, Chris.
Are you sure? Thank you so much. Yeah.
Yeah. I'll just [ __ ]
sit here and look [ __ ] jacked. Yes.
To answer all of your questions.
First,
no, I'm not human.
Second,
yes, anabolic steroids were involved in
the construction of this hair.
Third, I am hairier than my father.
Fourth, I'm half as hairy as my
grandfather, who is immune to mosquitoes
because they would get caught in his
hair on the way in and never make it.
That is not a joke. Lineage, destiny,
family, Vin Diesel [ __ ] family, but
like with mosquitoes. We could just
Why? Why? Oh, no. No. I got it, Chris.
I'll play this out for you. Oh my god.
Ever since like you lost your [ __ ]
weird arm hair and like you have like
hair on your head. I just kind of want
to like I don't know. [ __ ] you. I need
that like a [ __ ] broken leg. [ __ ] out
of my face, Nancy.
Let's go lift. Do man [ __ ] Okay. Okay.
Okay. How many weeks post surgery are we
now? 10. Oh, the swelling is like
probably about 50% down. So, it's kind
of looking like interesting [ __ ] there.
I mean, I can even see through this like
how much sucked in. Cinched. It is. Uh,
he said he said the surgeon said he got
it cinched. So, how do you feel? Um, the
recovery was rocky at first. I had a
hole in my lower back for five weeks.
Time flies when you're miserably
recovering from surgery. No, that's not
the quote. Um, dude, they put me on
fentanyl. What was it like? You did
fentanyl. Not fun. Oh, I don't know. Why
does everyone do it? Uh, they're
addicted to drug. No. Um, I think
fentanyl is fun when you're not in dire
agony. But so it couldn't even the
amount of pain you're in, it couldn't be
blunted by [ __ ] fentinel. So, here's
the thing. Like, right after I got out
of surgery, I was still on the after
effects of fentanyl. Y and it wasn't so
much
uh pain. So, first of all, I was laying
back like this for the surgery, okay?
And my shoulders are really inflexible
in my old age. And so I woke up and I
was like, like my shoulders hurt more
than anything else. My throat hurt like
crazy cuz they put the plastic tube down
your [ __ ] That was the worst pain
postop of the entire situation. Y but um
I had this distinct sense if you do like
a set of 20 on the hack squat right
after you feel um close to death. You
feel unwell. You're like get me out of
here. That feeling of myself. Get me out
of myself. Yes. I felt that for like two
days and as soon as I woke up after
surgery I was like not having fun. It
was awful. Yeah. Let me give this a shot
really quick.
Give that a shot. It's not a ton of
weight.
That's a little low. You going to be
taller than me sitting down? Stand next
to me. Standing.
Sitting.
I got I got miniature docks and legs. So
yeah. How did I never realize?
Yeah. [ __ ] That's so weird. That sucks.
That's so funny.
Huge stretch.
Let everything get pulled forward to its
limits.
Yes.
All right.
Reps for Jesus. Reps for Jesus. Reps for
Kanye. Same person. He also calls
himself Yezus. Jesus. Uh, yes, of
course. I kind of want to meet Kanye and
be like, "Hey, Kanye, uh, your name
sucks." Oh, and by the way, I'm Jewish.
Oh, and Kanye, if you're listening, feel
free to do nothing about it.
Mike's on steroids again.
Okay, good technique here, Chris. Reps
for Kanye. Settle in.
Beautiful. Touch all the way to the
bottom if you can. Round your whole back
forward. shoulders forward. Yes, that
last inch is a big deal.
Shut the [ __ ] up. The video guy's
laughing. You guys damn third grade in
here.
Chris, you're the [ __ ] man. Push that
[ __ ] Big stretch. That's where we grow
right here. Yeah. Gorgeous. Huge
stretch.
Oh, good.
Go. Yes. It gets easier as you go up.
Two more. Good ones, Chris.
One. Control it. Last one. Control this
whole thing.
Two. And then slow control. Big reach.
Wait for it. Rack.
Good [ __ ]
Okay,
now we're checking. Uh, we're cooking
men.
Yeah, we sort of forgot about men.
Talking about men. That's [ __ ] I
mean, if that's not just a symptom of
the modern times. Yes, forgot about men.
It is unlikely that the political
machine is going to bend over backwards
for men. When it does, it typically does
like fascist [ __ ] which is bad for
everyone. You don't want to see extreme
maledominated politics.
Extreme female politics is like
communism.
bad extreme male fascism bad. So I would
say males are probably uh probably
behooves them to take the uh solutions
and into their own hands. This is number
one.
Number two
is
these social forces
they don't affect anyone at the
individual level in a very precise way.
And so wherever you are in life, there's
not an invisible hand preventing you
from accomplishing what you want as a
man. It just doesn't exist. And so
whatever it is you want out of life, you
should be purposeful about pursuing it
in a way that doesn't just assume things
will happen for you. People get out of
high school, they have no plan. No
worries. They get out of college, they
have no plan. No worries. Age 32, they
have no plan. Feel free to start
worrying. How old are you? 37. you're
good. Um, all jokes aside,
I you know, one thing is if you would
like to acquire a home, start saving and
investing as early as possible.
Then make sure that you're trying to
acquire a home in an area of the country
that makes sense instead of somewhere
stupid with ridiculous laws like San
Fran or New York or some [ __ ] like that.
As far as
meaning and purpose,
a lot of men derive a lot of purpose out
of being strong, stable providers and
helpers.
That means you can climb the status
hierarchy of making money for sure.
That'll fill you up with something.
It'll make you feel good. But if you can
find people in your life that you can
care for, be it girlfriends, wives,
children, family members, getting
involved in the community, mentoring,
quote unquote, giving back. Oh, it's
[ __ ] stupid. I didn't get anything to
begin with. Um, that kind of stuff and a
search for trying to connect with a
deeper community is a [ __ ] big deal.
A lot of people feel isolated because
they are. And you are unlikely to find
community in comment sections because
comment sections are dominated by people
who don't get along with people in real
life. You don't want to be their friend.
Finding real life people, joining a gym,
joining a boxing club, joining a
jiu-jitsu gym, if you're in the Austin
area, a running club so you can have sex
all day. Those kinds of real life
community involvements are a big deal
and they're in a great way absent from
today's society. And that's probably not
a good thing. Isn't it interesting that
kind of the meta meme that is fed to
guys is more of the thing that they've
got too much of already? More
independence more sigma male isolation
lone wolf solo DGEN entrepreneur
entrepreneur your way through [ __ ]
working from home passport bro thing
it's like all of that happens on your
own. Yeah. All of that happens on your
own. Yeah. And the way that you consume
that kind of content is you let the Yes.
on your own and the algorithm that
boosts that content for you is the
algorithm that's boosted up by also
lonely people. Like, you know, if you
look up like success memes or whatever
YouTube [ __ ] you'll see a lot of like
Andrew Tate [ __ ] on there. You don't
want advice from Andrew Tate. Um,
and there's a lot of that
self-reinforcing,
you know, lonewolf culture or whatever
cuz it feels cool. Mhm. You will feel
cool if you're a baller, lone wolf,
cyborg. You will not feel connected to a
greater hole. You will feel empty. Well,
it's also a protection mechanism, right?
The world hurt me. Therefore, if I don't
open up to it, it can't hurt me again.
Sure. Sure. Come on then. Build yourself
up. Come back into the world. Prove
yourself. And then get some community
going. All right.
Let's go, Mike.
Yep.
Good.
Yep.
small pet peeve that I have in the gym
when
you're working in with somebody and they
try and put the machine on the settings
that you have or move the machine to the
weight that you have because inherent in
that is you need to do that when you
finish like you leave it ready for me.
Yeah. At one each person is changing the
machine one time. Yeah. It is way easier
for you to be the person that changes it
for you to your settings and have that
check, so you might as well do it. Yes.
But also, it's like, hey, don't [ __ ]
put it there for me and create this
weird like karmic debt where I got to
[ __ ] put it there for you. I'm not
remembering your [ __ ] You're really
[ __ ] in the head, man. Yeah,
I feel you a thousand%. Anytime I do
that for Jared, I can feel his I never
had a daddy disdain. Don't [ __ ] do
that for me. Don't [ __ ] care for me,
man. Yeah. Yeah, I don't need you. Don't
be caring. Well, I need I I actually
saying all of that, I do need you. God
damn it. Thank you. There you go.
Yep.
Crazy. Excited to see this. Yeah. It's
not It's not fully formed yet, but it's
something.
Well, there it is. two. Mark's still
appealing. [ __ ] that's gnarly. Yeah.
Future surgeries for Mike. Probably
going to get uh skin removal here to get
clear shoulder lines. I carry a lot of
fat there. Probably this uh situation
here. I'm going to reduce uh the skin
procedure called body type cuz I hold a
lot of uh skin there. And uh very likely
this is going to be major major surgery.
Chris, you turn around. What I'm going
to do is they're going to cut into me
and take my abs and then stitch them
closer together. Good. Yeah. And they're
going to take my obliques and double
stitch them closer together and muscle.
The whole thing. Yeah. The muscle. And
then they are going to put a mesh, a
plastic permanent mesh around that whole
thing to get the waist to do this. And
they're going to sew everything back
together. Massive. Massive. Reconstruct
your surrogate cuz like Okay, so check
this out. This is a fine. So people,
this is this might clear up nothing with
people I may uh rarely ever get together
any idea. So this is me perfectly
normally relaxed. This is me at about
12% body. It's just like so veins and my
quads all through my calves and [ __ ]
detailed. This is just what my [ __ ]
this my
mom looks like this, my dad looks like
this, my sister. We just have pops and
it's not fat because I have Nexus scans
which of less than a kill half a
kilogram of good abdominal fat. I can
pull in like this anytime I want. Again,
people who have fat in there can't do
that. And so I just exist. And when
people see me like this and they see me
on the internet doing this, but he's
just pushing his gut out. I actually
have no idea how to push my gut. I don't
know what people do to push their
stomach out because they're like you
breathe in or something. I have no clue.
If I completely relax, just look the
same thing. So, what I want is my waist
when completely relaxed to look like
this. Like yours does, his does.
Everybody's does. That's normal. That's
fun. Want to be sweet. Yeah. It's going
to be more how it is with a piece. It's
like a torso. Oh, I can't wait. Oh, I
can't wait. I want to be the beginning
of me having machine parts in me started
when I had an umbilical hernia repair. I
have a mash here. It's the tiny, but
like that's a little preview. I want
like the robotic parts. I'm very
utilitarian when it comes to the
enhancement. Yes, but also it's an
artisticness. Let him go. I would want
to be part machine. Desperate curse.
And so do you. The RP hypertrophy.
Shoulders. Uh shoulders.
Let's get uh real close to failure here.
Okay. Count your reps. Let me know how
many reps you get. We're going to do
something fun.
Control that descent. Control. Yep.
Beautiful.
How many is that? 10. 10. Okay, remember
that number.
It's a lot of [ __ ] reps, Mike. It's a
lot of [ __ ] 20. That's a lot of range
as well. Jesus. Thank you, sir.
10. Even if you have to take a little
break.
[ __ ] yeah, Chris.
Good rack on your thighs. Do what? Put
them on your thighs.
Rest. Breathe.
Four and then you're done.
Yep.
Take a break.
That's it. That's it. That's it. Rack.
Good [ __ ] man. Good [ __ ] Oh, I love
it. And I hate it and I love it. Yes.
Yes, Mike.
It's 12. Here we go. I got to get to 20.
You got it. Come on.
Come on.
Yep.
Come on. Here we go. Dig in.
Yep.
Hey.
Yep.
Good. Up a little higher.
Yes.
One more.
Beautiful.
Rack on your uh rest a little bit. Let's
get five.
someone.
Come on.
Feeling it. Yeah. [ __ ] yeah. What were
you going to ask, Chris? I'm always
interested with people who are very
driven and work hard and uh have energy
to do stuff like that.
but are also into try to be into breast
ethic,
mindfulness.
Um, what's your preferred sort of
nervous system level of stimulation? Any
train with no music or limited music?
Uh, yeah, usually no music. Now,
recently I've been doing uh ambient
music. Yeah. Which gets me really,
really pumped. Yep. So figure that one
out. Okay. But uh my point being where
is you are you a peace guy or a chaos
guy? I think for me all of my positive
emotions emanate from a baseline of deep
peace. If I can get to that baseline
first, good things happen. If I can't,
sometimes I don't feel so good. Mhm.
Mhm. So like gym music to get me
motivated can work for like a a rep.
Yep. A set, it's not going to work for a
workout. That's for goddamn [ __ ]
Sustainable. Yep. We doing one more. One
more. One more set for you. [ __ ] Okay.
One more set. Let's get 20. As soon as
you're done here. Mhm. I want you to
walk over to the fives. Yep. And do 10
standing laterals with the fives. Sounds
horrendous.
Good. Come up nice and high. Finish,
Chris. Three big ones. One,
two. Come on. Let's go.
Three. Oh, [ __ ] above parallel each
time. Five reps. Good.
Good. However many you want. Bonus
round. Let's fry it in. One, two, three,
four. Let's get some pain.
Yep.
Come on. Come on.
Christ. Good. Good. Uh, and that's it.
We'll see you next time. Bye.
