Video summary

Austin Wells addresses the team's recent struggles by acknowledging that despite numerous high-quality at-bats throughout their lineup, they have failed to string together enough hits to generate runs consistently. He admits there is no clear answer for this offensive slump and suggests that while individual players are performing well in specific moments, the inability to capitalize on these opportunities has left them unable to secure wins beyond narrow one or two-run victories. The conversation highlights a significant contrast between the pitching staff's dominance and the offense's lack of production, with Wells noting how frustrating it is for his teammates who have been exceptional at keeping games close until the final inning. He praises the pitchers for their amazing performances that often result in zero runs allowed, yet emphasizes that this defensive strength comes at the cost of offensive support needed to win more decisively. Wells also directly refutes any notion that players are pressing or trying too hard against opposing defenses, stating honestly that he does not see signs of anxiety across the roster. Instead, he attributes the scoring drought to a lack of continuity in their good hitting moments rather than poor mental approach, noting that while they show flashes of brilliance every few games, these instances need to be sustained within single innings to put runs on the board effectively. Ultimately, Wells concludes that the team is stuck in an uncomfortable cycle where great pitching allows them to stay competitive but prevents them from achieving comfortable victories without run support. He expresses a desire for their offense to finally deliver the necessary results to complement the staff's efforts and turn these close games into more substantial wins, though he remains uncertain about when or how that breakthrough will occur given the current lack of an obvious solution.

Austin, another rough stretch for for this offense. Just what do you make of this team's inability to put some runs on the board? >> I don't know. I feel like if I had an answer to that question, we'd probably be scoring more runs, so I don't have the answer to that one. >> Why do you think it's gone on as long as it has? >> Um I don't know. I feel like there's a lot of good at bats up and down the lineup. Um I guess maybe not stringing them together when they're happening. Um feel like there's been a lot of really good at bats. And just yeah, not getting the results that we need to put the runs up to to win the game. Yeah. >> You're intimately involved with the the pitching staff as a catcher. How tough is it for you guys to not score runs for these guys? >> Yeah, it's tough. I mean, those guys are pitching amazing. Every Every guy that goes out there putting up zeros, keeping us close in the game all the way till the end, so yeah, I mean, it's frustrating. They're doing a great job keeping us in games, allowing us to win games by one or two runs. So Yeah, they've been great. >> Do you feel like guys have been pressing at the plate? >> Honestly, no. Um I don't really see that across the board. Feel like guys, like I said, have had you know, really good at bats. You know, maybe it's just stringing them together in the same inning. You know, we show it you know, every couple games and you know, like wow, it's great, but get some run support.
