Video summary

Austin Wells reflects on his recent performance against Carlos Rodón, highlighting a critical moment where he successfully challenged a call with the bases loaded. Although he initially felt the pitch was slightly outside the strike zone, his confidence in the Absolute Strike Zone technology allowed him to convert the play into a game-changing advantage. Wells emphasizes how validating such moments are for players, noting that the ABS system provides a crucial tool that can alter the outcome of games in both directions, and he is grateful to have access to it when needed. Regarding Rodón's return to the major league mound after about six weeks, Wells observed that the pitcher looked sharp and effective throughout the game. He noted that Rodón managed base runners well and secured a double play via a ground ball, despite an unfortunate interference call by an umpire. The pitcher also delivered a significant punch-out and maintained his composure to get Holiday out, with Wells praising both his breaking pitches and changeup as looking great overall. The conversation then shifted to George's defensive contributions since his promotion, which Wells described as excellent due to the numerous big plays made in the outfield holes. He commended George for being smooth in his movements and consistently getting to difficult balls, describing his overall performance as very good. Additionally, Wells pointed out that George has shown a noticeable improvement offensively over the last few weeks, contributing significantly with big at-bats and providing essential run support for the team. Wells concludes by discussing how having George locked in at the top of the lineup positively impacts the team's strategy and morale. He believes that placing George there provides the necessary impact bat from the start of the game, which is exactly what the team needs to succeed. With George performing well both defensively and offensively, Wells feels confident in his current lineup construction and praises George for doing a great job in this role.
