Video summary

Austin Wells praised Cam Schlittler's dominant performance in a recent game where he effectively utilized his heater and maintained excellent command throughout the afternoon. Despite facing significant challenges from opposing pitchers who were nearly perfect at times, Schlittler managed to roll through those difficult situations with ease. His ability to stay in the zone allowed him to secure key outs while keeping the team competitive even when they faced a tough loss overall. The conversation also touched on how previous struggles have motivated Schlittler and his teammates to perform better under pressure. Dusty noted that Cam approached every outing with the same focus and determination he usually displays, knowing exactly what was required of him at each moment. This mindset helped them stay close in games where even a single swing could change the outcome, highlighting how their pitching has been instrumental in keeping the offense involved despite not always getting desired results at the plate. When discussing specific plays like Olson's hit off Schlittler's heater, Austin emphasized that it was more than just luck or a perfect pitch; it required respect for one of the best hitters currently playing. He acknowledged that while they are trying to find ways to score more runs and move runners over, their pitchers have done an incredible job keeping them in contention throughout these matchups. The team remains optimistic about extending their lineup depth so that fresh arms can come up later with favorable match-ups as games progress toward the end. Overall, Austin expressed satisfaction with Schlittler's effort while reminding everyone to avoid placing too much pressure on themselves during high-stakes moments. By taking necessary knocks when possible and trusting in their pitching staff, they hope to create better opportunities for offense down the stretch. This balanced approach allows players like Cam to feel good about their contributions without feeling overwhelmed by expectations or trying to force outcomes that may not happen immediately.

Dusty, what do you think allowed Cam to be so dominant this afternoon? >> Um I mean she was in the zone with his heater. Um all the stuff was moving great, so um got ahead and um was able to just kind of roll through those through those guys over there. It's a great lineup and he did a great job. >> Did you get an added sense of of motivation after having a little bit of a hiccup last time out of him going out there trying to trying to make sure he's able to get the job done? >> Uh yeah, I mean I feel like he was the same Cam as he usually is. Um went out there and knew what he had to do. Um you know uh yeah, I mean at the moment those guys got to be almost perfect for us to to be in the ballgame and they have been, which has been incredible. So um he knows what he needs to do and and he did a great job. >> You mentioned that. When you get pitching like you guys have been getting lately, just as an offense, what are the discussions like in in trying to find a way to score some more runs? >> Yeah, I mean when when it's a one-nothing ballgame, we're one swing away um to being back in it. So those guys are doing an incredible job of of keeping us close in these games and um yeah, just trying to find stuff at the plate. I mean trying to move guys over and and get jobs done. So um now I feel like we've done a pretty good job up and down of having great at-bats. Um you know, we're just not getting the results and um but our guys on the mound are keeping us in it. >> Dusty, that pitch to Olson was a hundred. Pretty much kind of down. Just trying to get it down a little bit more or was he just hit a a great pitch right there? >> No, I mean just 2-0 heater, third time up. Um one of the best hitters in the game right now, so um tip your cap, great swing and um yeah, it was a great pitch, but um yeah, he put a good swing on it. Just tip your cap there. Feel good? >> Yeah. >> Feel good. I mean always want more, so um you know, feel like um you know, try not to put too much pressure on. Like you said, trying to score runs and trying to do too much. Um so taking the knocks when you can get them and hopefully extending the lineup allows for, you know, guys to come up at the end of the game um with good match-ups, so um yeah, feeling good.
