Video summary

Amazon has announced a significant expansion of its drone delivery network, aiming to serve nearly 500 cities and towns across the United States by the end of 2026. Currently, Prime Air operations are concentrated in major metropolitan areas within Arizona, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas, and Louisiana, but the service is set to soon reach new markets including Chicago, Syracuse, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Boise. This strategic move aims to broaden access to fast delivery services beyond just the largest urban centers, integrating drone logistics into a wider geographic footprint for consumers in diverse regions of the country. In the realm of artificial intelligence and enterprise technology, OpenAI is rolling out its advertising pilot program to 31 additional markets across Europe, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and various Nordic nations. This expansion follows a period where the ad service was limited to North America, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil. During a recent briefing, OpenAI's enterprise CMO highlighted that ad revenue has increased by 25% since early August, noting that roughly 20% of their billion weekly active ChatGPT users demonstrate commercial intent, signaling strong potential for monetization in these new international territories. Global tech news also highlights shifting dynamics in the semiconductor and software sectors, alongside growing public concern regarding AI's societal impact. Samsung has reportedly raised prices for certain advanced chip-making services by up to 15% due to capacity constraints caused by US export restrictions on China, forcing the company to prioritize its own products and American demand over existing Chinese orders. Meanwhile, China's Ministry of State Security has ordered state-linked entities to uninstall customized versions of Windows 10 ahead of a scheduled retirement in February 2027, citing data security concerns, though Microsoft maintains that no specific security incidents have been found. Additionally, a Pew Research Center poll indicates that American sentiment toward AI has turned more cautious, with 52% of respondents feeling more concerned than excited about its daily use, and a majority believing AI will reduce job opportunities over the next two decades. On the consumer side, several tech companies are enhancing their user experiences through new features and platform integrations. Spotify has launched an AI-powered running mode for premium Android users in multiple countries, offering 25 music presets that adjust to run length and pace with beat-matching capabilities, following its earlier release on iOS. Mozilla is partnering with Exa AI to introduce smart window features into Firefox's beta version, allowing users to retrieve web information and view sources directly within the browser using natural language prompts without navigating to separate search pages. Furthermore, Nvidia GeForce Now has added support for Firefox on Windows, enabling high-resolution gaming up to 1440p at 120fps specifically for Ultimate subscribers, thereby expanding the list of supported browsers beyond Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Safari.

In a briefing call, OpenAI's enterprise CMO, Colin Fleming, noted the company's ad revenue grew 25% since early August, and that 20% of approximately 1 billion weekly active ChatGPT users have commercial intent. Reuters sources claim Samsung raised prices for select advanced contract chip-making services by up to 15%. Samsung is currently unable to meet demand for existing Chinese orders, as Samsung needs to reserve some capacity for its own products, as well as meet US demands. Chinese customers are reportedly accepting the price hikes due to restrictions issued by the United States over exports of advanced chip-making gear. Samsung has declined to comment. Bloomberg reports China's Ministry of State Security ordered select state-linked entities to uninstall the currently in use customized version of Windows 10. This is ahead of the previously scheduled internal retirement of the Microsoft operating system due to data security concerns. A Microsoft representative told Bloomberg, "Microsoft is not aware of a security incident affecting this product, which continues to receive regular security updates." The retirement was originally planned for February 2027 as part of China's effort to reduce use of foreign technology. Pew Research Center published results of a June 2026 poll showing 52% of Americans are, {quote} more concerned than excited about the increased use of AI in daily life, a jump from 37% in 2021. In this latest report, 37% are equally excited and concerned about the increased usage with only 9% being more excited than concerned. Within the sample group, 55% of adults under 30 years old are in the more concerned than excited grouping. In Pew Research's job-related query, 71% of adults responded, "AI will lead to fewer jobs in the United States in the next 20 years." And only 5% think AI will lead to more jobs. Spotify's AI-powered running mode is now available for premium subscribers on Android in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The mode is in the Spotify Fitness Hub and has 25 presets for different music genres and can be adjusted to the length of a scheduled run as well as beat match if aiming for a specific pace with optional audio cues. Running mode launched for iOS earlier in July. Mozilla and search and retrieval company Exa AI partner to add new features to Firefox's smart window beta. Smart window enables users to retrieve current web information and show the sources behind its response without taking you to a separate search results page all while using natural language prompts. It can also suggest tab groupings by topic and close duplicate tabs with a single click. Currently, the smart window beta is only available in English within the United States and Canada. And in other Firefox news, game streaming service Nvidia GeForce Now added support for Firefox on Windows. Previous officially supported GeForce Now browsers included Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Safari. Games can run up to a resolution of 1440p and at 120fps, but only for GeForce Now Ultimate subscribers, which costs $19.99 a month.
