Video summary
The video captures the grand opening ceremony of Alumni Hall, a new retail location in Columbia that marks the third store for the company to open in the city over its ten-year history. The speaker expresses deep gratitude to the attendees, including local dignitaries and family members, emphasizing that the success of the venture is built on passionate fans and great people rather than just commerce. A significant highlight of the event was the team's ability to prepare for an official opening just forty-eight hours before the first major game, a feat made possible by the non-stop efforts of key staff members like Denita, Randy, and Janie who worked tirelessly to ensure the store was ready for the big day.
The celebration also serves as a tribute to the collaborative spirit between the business owners and the Bull Street District, which has been instrumental in Columbia's tremendous growth. Special thanks are extended to local leaders such as Councilman Reverend Ed McDow, Economic Development Head Ryan Coleman, and former Special Projects Director Gregory Tucker for their unwavering support from day one. The atmosphere is electric with excitement about the future developments adjacent to Alumni Hall, reinforcing the idea that this new brick in the project represents a strong addition to both the Bull Street area and the broader Midlands region.
Beyond football merchandise, the store offers a wide variety of Gamecock gear that surprises even the speaker's wife with its extensive selection, inviting everyone to shop before leaving the event. The ceremony concludes with a formal ribbon-cutting ritual involving a countdown from three to one, followed by cheering and music as the community officially welcomes the new addition. This moment signifies not just the launch of a store, but the culmination of hard work and partnership that positions Columbia as a thriving place for living, working, and celebrating local pride.

We've been um on Colombia's radar for
over 10 years. This is the third time
we've had a spot. Um and it's definitely
worth the wait. Um great town,
passionate fans, um is what our company
is about and what we look for and and
places to put stores. Um again, thanks
everyone for being here. It's very
special. Great turnout. uh very humbled
and appreciative of of all the chamber
and dignitaries that have showed up
today. Um thank you to my dad who's
actually joined us today. None of this
would be possible without him. I can
promise you that. Um thank you to my
great team uh both in store and in
office. Um we have a lot showed up
today. Um it's it's all about the
people. when something like this is done
uh as fast as it was done, um we have
the best staff and the best people. And
I know that's common speak and and
everyone can say that, but I truly mean
it. So guys, I'm appreciative and the
store looks great. John and staff here
uh have done a great job. Um and uh
we've loved working with uh the folks
here at Bull Street. Um have been more
than helpful and as smooth as it could
have been despite opening 48 hours about
before the first game, but uh we're
thrilled to be here. Excited. I know
it's a big game here Saturday. It starts
to get real now. All the practice is
done. So it's time for the real stuff
and and hopefully we can get down to the
80 degree mark before long and we can
all survive. But thanks again. Uh we're
we're honored and humbled to be here and
thanks for the support. Appreciate it.
Robert, you want your come up?
[applause]
This is a great day and it's so
wonderful to be here to celebrate Alumni
Hall. Uh what a tremendous company, what
a tremendous brand you guys have built
and and for on behalf of the Bull Street
District, thank you and welcome to
Colombia. This is a tremendous addition
to Bull Street and and for all the
Midlands. None of it would be possible
without a couple other key players that
I definitely want to thank today. Uh
first is our team. As was just
mentioned, this was a a sprint to get
open before the first game. Uh we have
three great people on the ground here.
Uh Denita, Randy, and Janie, um who just
have worked uh non-stop to get us open
today. So, or I guess officially open
today, but uh open before the first
game. So, thank you to them. And as
always, thank you to the city of
Columbia. Uh I don't think anyone from
the city's speaking today, but I know
that uh the councilman and Reverend Ed
McDow is here who's been a tremendous
supporter of Bull Street from day one
and been on council from the beginning.
Head of economic development Ryan
Coleman uh who's a tremendous advocate
for all the great things happening in
Colombia. So thank you Ryan. And then
Gregory Tucker who served as the special
projects director for Bull Street and
led all kinds of different capital
projects across this great city.
Columbia is in the midst of tremendous
growth. Bull Street is honored to be a
part of it. Uh we're excited for what is
coming with Alumni Hall, what is coming
adjacent to Alumni Hall. Uh this is just
another great brick as we build this
project brick by brick and and we're
tremendously excited for Alumni Hall.
All the Gamecock gear, not just
football, but tons of football gear. But
there's more stuff in that store than I
ever realized you could sell and brand
Gamecock. I am not one, but my wife is
tremendously happy about it. I will be
shopping today and I hope that everyone
else here picks up something before they
leave. But with that, I will pass it to
another great partner of Bull Street and
partner of this city, uh, the Columbia
Chamber of Commerce. And I'll pass it to
Amy to my right. Thank you.
>> Thank you.
