Air Jordan 4 Comic

Today we're taking a look at the Comic Air Jordan 4s. And I've been excited to talk about this shoe. And now it's time to break these bad boys down. As you guys can see from the box, another switch up here on the design elements. And I love how they went about this. They have the comic look to the Jumpman logo and the flight text just below that. It has a slight gradient with some dots throughout. Now, you're going to see on the Nike Air on the back and the front, this is also going to have that same gradient from that yellow to the pink. And looking at the size tag, it reads Air Jordan 4 retro off-white fire pink anthraite size 13 just for me. And taking off the lid of the box, you're going to notice the same thing here on the inside. It's going to have that gradient all throughout with the dots. And we'll explain that in a little bit. But I like how they stayed consistent with this as well. Now, next up right here, instead of having a retro card, this is actually a little sticker pack. So, you got 1 2 3 4 five different stickers. They're going to represent different elements throughout the sneaker and the packaging of the shoe. Next up right here, you're going to see the same thing with the dotted paper all throughout with the black dots. And peeling that back, you have the shoe individually wrapped in white paper. And then taking that white paper off, you got the shoe. Oh, you got the shoe. Oh, yeah. And if you didn't know by now, my name is DJ and this is the DNA show. The white cement, the black cement, the fire red, and the military blue. Since then, it seems like we have gotten hundreds of colorways over the years, and this one is definitely another unique one for the mix. Typically, when it comes to most releases these days, we see a pattern of previous releases, something from the past or alignment, but Jordan Brands always finds a way to sneak in new colorways, designs, and storyline. And just like all the comics, this pair of shoes is supposed to represent Michael Jordan, similar to how the superheroes were in the comics. MJ was essentially a hero on the court. Starting with the bottom of the shoe, you're going to see classic to your Air Jordan 4 outsole, but this time it's a little bit different when it comes to the color pattern. You're going to have more of this kind of pink bubblegum soft translucent color here in the front and the middle around the ball and the foot. The black stars on the front end, the gray on the back end, and your cell color here with the red Nike branding. Now, you know, every time we see Nike on the bottom, what does that mean? We got Nike on the back, but this one has a crazy twist to it. Now, going up to the midsole, as you can see, the pink is wrapping up to the side of the foot on here in the front. And then on the back end, you have more of this like kind of dark charcoal grayish color, not all the way black, kind of faded a little bit. And then you have that sail color on the bottom half. And the same thing with the air unit. Now, when it comes to the upper, you're going to have a mixture of different materials, colors, patterns, and overall switch-ups that we have never seen before on some of the molds. First off, as you can see from the leather right here, it's a all-white leather, but it's not like a pure crispy white, right? When we put it next to another shoe, you can see the difference between the two. And kind of, if you guys remember on the military blue Air Jordan 4s, how was like that white leather, but it kind of had that smoky kind of grayish blue tone to it. This, I would say, is something kind of similar to that. Now looking at the mesh in the nets, you're going to see and remember those gradient styles that we saw on the Jumpman logo or on the top of the lid of the box on the inside. You're going to have that same type of color in pattern here with the mesh and the nets. So also with the net, you're going to notice this is another switch up that we have never seen before. And you can see the circles kind of have a different size on them. They kind of fade throughout the foot and they get a little bit smaller and bigger as you see in different areas. And the same thing in the front end right here in the center of the tongue. So just like the comic book series, some of them had different prints if you guys remember. And these dots kind of represent that style of print way back in the day. And it honestly gives me that same type of vibe of the Spider-Man Marvel comics, which kind of makes me wonder, could this be a series that could have aligned with Spider-Man? Maybe, but they decided not to and they switched up the colors and it turned it into something else. I don't know. Now, besides that, these come standard with a pair of white laces. Again, it's not like a pure white, kind of that off-white color to it. And you have an additional set of yellow laces that come with the shoes as well. And there's a little bit of yellow on the shoe right here on the back end. And the same thing here on the tech. So, I feel like they wanted to throw the yellow in to make it pop and tie into everything else. Now, going up to the center of the tongue, you're going to notice right here. Same thing with the leather. Honestly, it feels a little bit better, but it's probably the same leather on the shoe. It's just different because of the padding behind it. So, that makes it feel a little bit softer. Now, another thing to note is going to be the eye stay area right here on the front end. So, you have your red in the front and then on the top it's pink. But also, a big thing to note with this is it's a completely different style. This is like that comic book style, the bang back pop, you know, all the stuff like that. but they actually made it functional for the shoes to lace through. And again, we have never seen something like this before. So, they definitely got creative and changed a lot of elements on this shoe. Now, looking inside the collar, you're going to have that all white material as well. And on the back end of the tongue, similar to the stickers, like you guys saw earlier, you're going to have your Air Jordan branding with that comic text. And on the inside of the sock liner, you're going to notice you have your Nike Air branding that's similar here to the back on the heel. And I think that's a great touch on how they went about that. Also, it's a polyurethane insole. So, they did a good job on that, which was kind of surprising because this is not a collaboration or a player edition. And typically, that's what we get it on, which is kind of like doesn't make sense for this one. Now, taking it to the back tab, you're going to notice typically you have those little squares that are kind of there, and it's like larger, then it gets smaller throughout the bottom. It's actually dots. They're larger, then they get smaller. And then right here on the tab, it's going to be the same thing, that smoke color with that lifted text. And you have your Nike Air branding similar to the inside of the sock liner. Overall, I think this is a dope shoe and I was excited to add these to the collection, but I knew that I could be patient and get them for a good deal. And that's exactly what I did. Did you never like them from the get- go? I think this is going to be a cool timestamp piece for this time, this era, and probably something that we will never see retro again. I mean, I know they bring a lot of stuff back, but like, would they actually ever bring these back 10 years from now, 20 years from now? I don't think so. Now, based off of what everybody else was saying from the comment section, from all the different posts I seen online, it sounds like not that many people like them or they're just waiting to get them on a good deal for on sale or something. It's definitely not in conversation for sneaker of the year, more in conversation for potentially one of the worst shoes of the year.
