At the moment we have the situation that
countries um formulate greenhouse gas
mitigation targets to 2030 also in the
rice sector. [music] However, the data
that the countries have as a basis
[music] to make these to to design these
these targets is very limited. So we try
to provide some information uh
evidencebased [music]
analysis that uh give the countries a
better data [music] foundation to
formulate their targets.
In order to tell whether or not
countries are achieving those targets,
[music] we need this uh MRE monitoring
important verification systems. So this
project uh has an important objective of
contributing to that process, helping
our partners to have robust, reliable,
credible MRV systems to measure these uh
activities and progress achieved in
terms of reducing uh G emissions.

these targets could be improved. They
can be increased. Um but I think in
order to do that [music] the countries
need a better evidence base to formulate
their targets and what we do um is we do
certain country analysis uh scenario
planning and then develop country road
maps uh how to reduce methane emissions
from rise till 2030.
importance of the acceler uh project is
to you know accelerate as the name
implies accelerate uh low emissions rice
in [music] Southeast Asia and why it's
so important for Southeast Asia because
it's a significant [music] uh producer
of rice uh for the world and we know
that um rice production also has some
environmental consequences in rice uh
methane emissions. So what this project
is trying to do is to be able to build
the partnerships [music] that is
required for us to you know initiate
action to reduce rice uh methane
emissions from production.
key important objective of this project
and many similar activities conducted by
Erie. How we can help farmers and
[music] countries uh to reduce this
methane emissions from rice but at the
same time do it in a way that is uh
profitable for [music] farmers in a way
that farmers can use that to improve
their livelihoods. And what we are doing
is to bring together the partners that
will help to increase um um the
awareness of methane in Southeast Asian
rice production system and also develop
the coordinated action that is required
[music] to one reduce duplication of
efforts to save time and resources and
also to be able to really you know push
harder on production increases but with
low emissions.
I am confident that from our long long
collaboration [music]
is able to support our work to meet the
target both the target of Thailand NDC
[music]
and also the target of uh excel [music]
project goal at the same time I'm sure
that we can work together to meet
[music] our target together

But it is also one of the major
contributors to greenhouse gas emissions
particularly methane. The adoption of
proven low emission rice technologies

[music] cutting methane emissions by a
substantial margin.
