Video summary

The video begins with a giveaway announcement for a Nintendo Switch 2 before diving into significant news regarding multimedia applications on the platform. A major development is the confirmed shutdown of the Crunchyroll app on the Nintendo Switch, which will cease operations by October 30, 2026, following the removal of its eShop listing. This event sparks a broader discussion about the future of streaming services on the upcoming Switch 2, as currently no such apps are available. While rumors suggest YouTube might eventually arrive to replace these services, Nintendo's historical preference for focusing strictly on gaming rather than multimedia clutter remains a key factor. The host notes that while this lack of apps forces users to rely on their phones or smart TVs, it also ensures the console remains dedicated to gameplay, though it leaves some without internet-connected TV options disappointed. On the business and sales front, the video presents updated Japanese box charts from Famitsu, highlighting strong physical sales for titles like *Rhythm Heaven Groove*, which has become the best-selling rhythm game in Japan with over 911,000 units sold physically. Other notable performers include *Splatoon Raiders* and *Tomodachi Life*, while new releases like *Steins;Gate Reboot* are already outselling their PlayStation 5 counterparts on the Switch 2. Despite a slight dip in hardware sales for the week, which is attributed to the gap between major game releases, the console has sold over 6.2 million units globally, significantly outperforming the PS5 Digital Edition. The host also covers a massive eShop sale featuring deep discounts on games like *Red Dead Redemption*, *Skyrim Anniversary Edition*, and *Crab Trap Treasure*, noting that owners of the original version can upgrade to the Switch 2 edition for free. Technical improvements and upcoming events are also central to the news, with NBA 2K27 officially confirmed to run at a smooth 60 frames per second on the Switch 2 in performance mode. Furthermore, *Stellar Blade* will make its hands-on debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where attendees can play the Complete Edition before its full release later this year. The video also showcases visual comparisons between *The Witcher 3* on the original Switch and the Switch 2, demonstrating a marked increase in fidelity and clarity. Additionally, CD Projekt Red plans to host a special event at Gamescom to highlight exclusive features for the Switch 2 version of the game. An interview with the developers of *Liza P* reveals their positive experience porting the title, praising Nintendo's documentation and confirming that a full physical cartridge release is planned, which is seen as a major win for fans who prefer owning games on discs. Finally, the video addresses some less pleasant topics, including potential political impacts on the industry. There are reports of new tariffs being considered on semiconductors and tech products, which could theoretically increase prices for gaming consoles and data centers in the coming year. The host expresses concern that these measures might make platforms more expensive for consumers. On a security note, the official Pokémon social media account was temporarily hacked to post fraudulent content about a non-existent cryptocurrency, an incident Nintendo has since resolved by securing the account. The transcript concludes with a brief update on the channel's new branding and a sign-off, wrapping up a diverse range of news from game sales and technical specs to security breaches and political economic concerns affecting the gaming world.

All right, folks. Today we're giving away a Nintendo Switch 2. You can enter through the link down in the pin comment or the description. The only requirement to enter is to be subscribed to the channel. And today we got a bevy of news to go over. Uh it looks like Crunchyroll is shutting down on Nintendo Switch, which leads to a greater conversation surrounding things such as multimedia apps and their future on Nintendo and Switch 2. We have updated sales data from Japan. We have well an idea of when we can first see real hands-on gameplay of Stellar Blade on Switch 2. So, I'm excited for that one. We have a confirmation of 60fps for a certain third-p partyy game that honestly should have had it last year, but we're just happy to have it this year. We have a brand new blockbuster sale to go over. Might not be exactly what you're thinking, but it's pretty interesting. We have a comparison uh looking at Witcher 3 screenshot from Switch 2 compared to a Switch One screenshot that's in a similar area so we can kind of see how the improvements are affecting. Also, beyond that, uh CD Project Red is actually planning to do a special event for the Switch 2 version. We're going to go over that as well. Unfortunately, we have some sad news coming across from the political space. We usually don't talk about politics unless it affects video games. It looks like there could be some brand new tariffs going into place that might increase the price of all video game platforms next year, I would guess. So, buckle up. We got to go over that one. And I do apologize. We have to go to a website that is obviously one that talks about politics. I usually don't do that. Uh try not to get mad at me about which website it is. It's just the one that popped up on my timeline. So, I'm just being fair to where I first saw the news. But not in the politics. We're not here to debate that. Uh, beyond all of that, the Pokemon account, one of Pokemon's social media accounts got hacked today. So, that's always scary, at least uh, for the Pokemon company. And then we have an interview about the Switch 2 version of Liza P. And basically wanted to cover it because the people who ported it over to Switch 2 are actually really impressed with the power of Switch 2. So, yeah, guys, we have a lot to get into today. And, you know what? Let's go ahead and dive into that first story. The Crunchyroll here is shutting down on Nintendo Switch. So, Crunchyroll's Nintendo Switch app is on its way out and is confirmed to be shutting down in a couple of months. Subscribers say they started to receive an email about service ending. Those watching Crunchyroll on Switch will no longer be able to do so starting on October 30th, 2026. It's worth noting the Nintendo eShop listing has already been pulled, so if you don't already have it, you can't install it anyways. The email doesn't explain why the Switch app is coming to an end. they're really advised to use Crunchyroll on other platforms that are supported. And then they have the full email here, uh, which basically says all that same stuff. You know, you can go to crunchyroll.com, still watch it, see the supported stuff. They're not given a reason for it. So, obviously, we don't know if like Nintendo wants to end the contract and didn't renew it. Crunchyroll ended the contract. We have no clue. But this does lead to a broader discussion on multimedia apps on Switch 2, of which we have none. Now, Nintendo has previously hinted that YouTube could be coming, and you should talk to YouTube about that. YouTube has previously said that they are working on something with Switch 2. And look, we don't cover this person, so don't take this serious. There's technically a rumor that keeps trending right now coming from Nash Weedle. You guys know how unreliable I find him to be. That being said, he's saying the YouTube app is almost on its way, and it's just like a contract thing, dotting the eyes, crossing the tees. I don't know, guys. We've had a supposed leak about YouTube coming to Switch 2 before. If you remember, we we uh covered ended up being wrong. Even though the source of it is somebody who actually literally worked at YouTube, they ended up being wrong. They actually went ahead and deleted their video and got in trouble by YouTube about it. But the point is that obviously that was someone who actually worked for YouTube and they were wrong. Nash doesn't work for YouTube. He could be wrong here as well. That said, obviously YouTube might be the only thing I expect to come over merely because Nintendo uses YouTube to advertise their games. But yeah, Nintendo seems to be very against multimedia apps kind of clogging up their systems, which is interesting. They supported them on Wii, they supported them on Wii U, 3DS, and obviously we had Hulu, Crunchyroll, and YouTube on Switch. Now we have nothing on Switch 2. In some ways, it's refreshing because it means you're only grabbing your Switch 2 to play video games as pretty much all of us have access to these apps on our phones and everywhere else. On the other hand, you know, there is something to say for people that maybe haven't upgraded their TVs yet, maybe don't like smart TV functionality and completely disable and don't allow it to be on the internet for certain protection reasons, and then maybe they want to use their Switch 2 to watch stuff. I get it. And Switch 2 supports 4K, so it could in theory do 4K Netflix and stuff like that with HDR support. That said, we don't have any of those apps. I don't know if we ever will get them as Nintendo seems to be the one platform holder that's like, "Nah, we're a video game system and nothing else." Take it or leave it, but uh we'll see. Maybe things will change down the line. All right, our next story. We got to go over some Japanese sales charts here. And uh this is really interesting here. So, the latest Japanese box charts are in from Famitsu. And we can see Rhythm Heaven Groove is still doing really well at number one with 37,42 units. has now moved 911,241 units. What's notable about that, these are only physical sales, by the way. No digital sales counted. This is now the bestselling Rhythm Heaven game ever in Japan. And that's with physical sales. So, Rhythm Heaven Groove is doing very, very well in Japan and physical appears to be really strong. Splatoon Raiders is still doing well as well at number two with 13,224. They love Splatoon over there. Over 600,000. And I got a feeling that one might creep up closer to a million units physically over time, especially if they release updates and DLC. We'll see. Tomodachi Life Living the Dream is still doing strong as well at 12,558. Obviously, it crossed 1.5 million a little bit ago. SteinsGate Reboot is a brand new game that came out and obviously you see it's almost doubling the sales of the PlayStation 5 version on Switch 2 at 7,613. Minecraft still doing strong. Pro Powerful Pro Baseball 2026 2027 still doing all right. Pokemon Poptopia kind of a stark drop off for it, but you know it is what it is. It's still over a million. And then Ste'sgate reboot for Switch doing a little bit less than the PS5 version. And then you have Star Sand Island as a brand new release on Switch 2. So everything's going really well. And then you get to the hardware. So this is the lowest hardware sales I think we've seen in Japan yet for a week of Switch 2 at 20,734. I'm just noting that and watching that. They've never dipped below 20,000. Maybe it's going to happen next week. Obviously, I have to think things will get boosted once Fire Emblem comes out, but it is one of those things that between Nintendo's big releases, sometimes you see some dips. Looks like a dip. And despite that, it's doing 4x the PlayStation 5 digital edition. So, I think Nintendo's going to be all right. And once they get more games coming out, uh, it's going to obviously pop back up the charts. Anyways, at 6.2 million units, that's kind of the notable thing here is it is now above, you know, 6.2 instead of being at 6.1 million. So, really good stuff there in Japan. And look, guys, we'll see how it goes the rest of the year. We know they still have their big games coming in Fire Emblem. Uh, we have obviously, what is it? Switch Sports Resort and yes, Ocarina of Time. All right, guys. When are we going to see Stellar Blade? So, Stellar Blade, we had a new trailer for the Switch 2. Looked really, really good. We talked about that the other day, but when are we going to see people actually go hands-on with it and confirm what our eyeballs are telling us from the advertising trailer? Well, turns out it's going to be at Tokyo Game Show. So, ahead of the release this year, Stellar Blade Complete Edition will be playable for the first time on Switch 2 at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which takes place from September 17th to the 21st. Attendees can go hands-on with the port by the looks of the latest trailer. Could be quite a look on Switch 2. Sega, which is handling physical distribution in Japan, is going to have the game playable in its partner space with six stations. In addition, the creator of Stellar Blade, Kim Hunga [snorts] In addition, the creator of Stellar Blade, Kim Hung, will take the Sega and Atlas's stage on Sunday, September 20th, with interpretation available in Japanese. This will also be broadcasted by Sega Japan's YouTube channel for those unable to attend. Otherwise, they're obviously keen to get some exact information, including the exact release date, which is supposed to be this year. So, we'll see. Obviously, that's one thing we should get out of Tokyo Game Show is the release date. I hope. Uh, but Tokyo Game Show's next month. Gamescom is happening right now. They're kind of wrapping that up. Then obviously we have Paxfest next week, which I'll be at, and give you guys any news that comes out of that event. All right, next up, a game I've been waiting to be 60 fps on a Nintendo platform ever since it came over on Switch is finally 60 fps this year. That is NBA 2K27 officially confirmed. We talked about this through a certain content creator on X that had gotten a response from somebody on the customer support team and we talked about how well customer support's not always the most reliable, but maybe this time around they're right. And here we go on the official developer Q&A. It says, "Is NBA 2K27 running at 60 FPS on Switch 2?" The answer, yes. NBA 2K27 runs at 60 fps on Switch 2 in performance mode. That means the same smooth, responsive feel you get on every other platform, whether you're docked or in handheld. And you can play it on September 4th and see it for yourself. And that comes from the Visual Concepts dev team. So there you go, guys. Hey, really exciting stuff. No, it still doesn't have crossplatform play. Maybe that's something they add next year. Uh cuz look, 60 FPS is what they really needed to make that happen. Uh so that's really, really cool. Now we got to get to our next story. And this one. Oh, this one's a little interesting because it's a Blockbuster sale, but no, it's not the Blockbuster you think of. It's actually just called that over on the eShop. You can see it right here. Blockbuster sale. It ends on 99. But let's look at what's on sale. So, we have almost the complete list here. Obviously, starting with Resident Evil Deluxe Reququum Edition, right? Yo, you have Recquum Deluxe Edition here. That one's 20% off at $64. See Disney's Dreamlight Valley 30% off at $34.99. ing 50% off on Red Dead Redemption Nintendo Switch 2 edition and the Nintendo Switch edition. You're seeing the show 26 digital edition, which by the way uh is the last one that we really need to become 60 fps for the major sports titles. So, come on Sony, get your act together. Let's get a Switch 2 version. Let's get 60 fps, please. All right, setting that aside. The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Anniversary Edition is also 50% off. Uh and then you see Scott Pilgrims EX is 20% off. Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, the definitive edition is 67% off. Minecraft Dungeons is on sale at 50% off. Remember, Dungeons 2 is coming pretty soon, also coming to Switch 2. Seeing Mario Plus Rabbit, Sparks of Hope, Switch One Edition, 75% off. You're seeing Tales of Arise Beyond Dawn Edition at 30% off. Uh you see WWE 2K26 King of the Ring Edition. That one's 45% off. Uh you see Monster Hunter Stories 3, Twisted Reflection. It's a brand new game this year. 16% off already. Obviously that's on the top version of it. Uh and then you see obviously 1,00x Resist Nintendo Switch 2 edition 40% off. We're going to keep going down and get to some of the more notable ones like Cult of the Lamb obviously being 40%. Spyro Trilogy Reignited right 65%. Split Fiction a really good one at 35%. Diablo II Resurrection at 30. Yakuza 3 Dark Tide. You can see it's a pretty big sale here with what's going on. Persona 3 is on sale. Dave the Diver, Darwin's Paradox. One game though I wanted to make sure I note is coming down here is another Crabs Treasure. And the reason is because while it is 60% off for the Switch 2 edition, you should just get the Switch 2 edition if you have a Switch 2. I wanted to remind everyone that another Crabs Treasure just announced, the Switch 2 edition update is free. If you own another Crabs Treasure on Switch One, so you can be upgraded to the Switch 2 version for free. Another crab's treasure is that like soulslike crab adventure underwater. It's actually a lot of fun and I just wanted to make note of that because I think a lot of you guys would really enjoy that game especially at 60% off especially with how much better it runs on the Switch 2 version and a free upgrade if you already have it. Unravel 2. When's the last time we talk about Unravel? That's 70% off down to $6. Way worth it for that. Reanimal down 20%. See Assassin's Creed coming down 63%. Or in the Blind Forest Definitive Edition down 75%, Animal Well, and Oniim Musha OnePlus 2 pack, which is notable because a new Oniim Musha is coming with a playable demo on Switch 2 right now. So guys, this is all awesome stuff. What's also awesome is trying to compare Witcher 3, the Switch One version, to the Switch 2 version. We've seen video trying to compare like the PlayStation 5 and and Switch 2 version, which is kind of weird because first thing we should do is compare it to Switch One. And we have additional news as well about when we could see the Switch 2 version. So here we see the one screenshot I showed you the other day on the bottom. It's obviously not a full resolution version. But even despite that, compared to the screen on the top, you can just tell the visual fidelity, clarity, and so much more. That is way better with the Switch One version versus the Switch 2 version. Now, this is not a 100% fair comparison because I believe the top image there in motion, but we're not going to have to wait long to see Witcher 3 in motion on Switch 2 either. Not just because it comes out on September 29th with the new remaster. CD Project Red, according to Stealthier, is providing a separate overview for the Switch 2 edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remastered tomorrow at Gamescom. We'll hopefully see a lot more footage and learning what the exclusive features are because yes, the Switch 2 version does have exclusive features, and they're specifically wanting to highlight the Switch 2 version. Now, it might be because the upgrades are the starkkest between the original release and the new one. That would make a lot of sense to try to convince Nintendo players to upgrade for free, by the way. But yeah, I'm pretty excited about it, guys. I am a big Witcher fan and I will be enjoying that free update as I already literally own Witcher 3 on Switch 2 or Switch one, I guess, technically. All right, guys. Now, we got to talk about a bit of a headache of a story. You know, we got to cover the news regardless of what it is. This one's a little bit political because it deals with tariffs and uh not good news for us. Another potential headache for US data centers, the Trump tariffs. So, the Trump administration is weighing a new round of sweeping tariffs on semiconductors. Eight people familiar with the discussion told Politico despite warnings from tech companies that the move could doom US hopes of dominating artificial intelligence. One tariff approach under consideration would dramatically expand the number of tech products subject to the duties, hitting not just chips, but potentially many of the goods made with them. That's right. Right now, most of the tariffs Nintendo is paying isn't specifically and these other companies for their platform. It's for the components that are within the platform they play those tariffs on. Now, they're saying, "Well, actually, we're going to tariff the platform on top of tariffing that." That's what they're discussing right now. Um, so laptops, gaming consoles, or the servers that fill data centers, the people said. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik favors a structure that would tie foreign companies relief from tariffs to the investment in US chip manufacturing to juice more domestic production, said for the people. So essentially, hey, if you invest in chipm, maybe we won't hit you with the tariffs. Yeah, good luck getting Nintendo to do that since they don't make their own chips. All right. The administration is also bulling a phasin period for the new tariffs. for people said the people stress that the framework could still be substantially revised in the coming weeks or months. Now, we're going to leave it at that because obviously this is a highly political topic. Lots of people are going to have opinions on both sides of the aisle or people dead center. I'm just going to say this. This sucks. This is going to lead to things getting more expensive for us. I don't know if it's going to have the long-term effects that they hope it will have in spurning growth and manufacturing here for things we don't even have the ability to manufacture, but we'll see what happens. All right, for now, Switch 2 is about to go up in price next week, and I really hope that that's the only price increase we see this generation. Looking doubtful, though. All right, now we got to get to another sad story. Little bit funny. Pokemon company got hacked, specifically their X account. Got a screenshot from Nintendo showing the original post. Pokemon celebrate 30 years of Pokemon in a whole new way. Introducing the Pokemon coin, the memecoin, the shitcoin, right? The official Pokemon memecoin. And there's the address. Join trainers around the world. This was a hack. No, Pokemon was not trying to advertise a cryptocurrency. In fact, we have the update here screenshotted as well from Nintendo saying the Pokemon handle OnX was temporarily compromised earlier for 30 minutes. We're aware that our X account was accessed without authorization and used the published post promoting cryptocurrency. Those posts were not created or approved by Pokémon and have been removed. We have secured the account and are investigating the incident. We're sorry the confusion and appreciate your patience. I'm guessing somebody that worked on their social media team that was logged into the account, clicked on a link they shouldn't have, got their cookies jacked from their browser, allowing someone to just freely log into the account. This is a well-known exploit online. That's why you got to be very careful when you run, you know, corporate accounts or even me like running the the Nintendo Prime account on X and on YouTube. I had to have a lot of security measures in place just for me to log in and even use those accounts because of stuff like this and how easy it is to hijack. So, I'm guessing Pokemon up their security the way that I have and uh maybe even gone beyond what I can by having some sort of corporate stuff, some programs, something behind the scenes that gives them a little bit of a edge for protecting the account moving forward. All right, we got to get to our last story. This comes from RPG site. It's an interview about Liza P on Switch 2. So, we're here we are and it says the Switch shoe offers impressive performance for a handheld system. Liza P game director Jawan Choy on the porting process, the potential of cross save, the physical cartridge release, and more. So, tell us a bit about yourself. We're going to skip over that. Uh, can you go into detail about why no studios was formed to handle Liza P? Uh, he talks about that a bit, but we want to get to the Switch 2 stuff. So, when work begin on Liza P for Switch 2, like when did it begin and did the team consider bringing it to Switch One? When we were developing Liza P, our goal was to make the game for home consoles rather than hybrid or handheld systems. So, we didn't consider releasing it on the original Switch back then. By the time the Switch 2 was announced, Liz P had already been released. With all the experience we had gained while developing the game, we felt we could deliver a good gameplay experience on the new system. We decided pretty soon after the announcement that we wanted to bring the game to Switch, too. So, what challenges did you initially run into and did optimizing it for Steam Deck or series else help? Choice says, "No matter what platform you're working with, bringing a game to a new system requires a lot of research and a very solid understanding of the hardware. The Switch to it only recently launched when we were working on the port, so there wasn't much information available about the hardware yet. Because of that, we did face a number of challenges. One area we spent a lot of time experimenting with was snow in Liza P Overture. We wanted to make sure we could fully capture its look and feel on Switch 2. That said, Switch 2 offers impressive performance for a handheld system and the Unreal Engine development environment was set up very well. Wonder if they're using 5.8. I know that was a Switch 2 update. Uh Nintendo's platform documentation and guidelines are also very well organized, so we were able to move forward without too much trial and error. Hey, credit to Nintendo for having good documentation for devs. Now, you guys are probably wondering about the physical version. And they said, "Did you always plan to do a full physical release with the game on cart for Liza P Complete Edition?" And he said, "We actually decided on a standard physical release with a full game on the cart at the same time we decided to port the game to Switch 2. Everyone at no studios is a proud gamer, which is why our studio slogan is games by gamers." For us, preparing a physical edition of Liza P that includes both the base game and overture on the cartridge was a natural choice. We really want it to feel like a gift to our fans. So, we're putting a lot of care into it. So, they care about physical just like many of you do, just like CD Project Res does. I wouldn't be shocked if the standalone version of Witcher 3 remastered on Switch 2 is also on a physical cart because it comes in about 40 something gigs, 43 gigs. Should be able to fit on a cart. So, just happy to see physical support. Happy to see more games coming to Switch 2. And you know what, guys? With that, that's going to do it. Uh, one thing we did do today, if you guys didn't saw, we changed the branding on my channel. So, we have a new logo. We have a new channel banner. Uh, we had a new transition you guys have already seen. And guys, now I'm going to introduce you to our brand new outro. So, thank you guys for tuning in and uh we'll catch you as always in our next video. [music]
