Video summary
The video begins with a giveaway announcement for a Nintendo Switch 2, but quickly pivots to discuss a significant rumor regarding the console's upcoming software lineup. The host explains that while recent discussions have focused heavily on *Zelda*, today's topic centers on a leak from a reliable insider known as "Special Nick." This insider recently mentioned during a live stream chat that there is an amiibo ready for release, which he believes indicates Nintendo is actively trying to bring a *Halo* title to the Switch 2. This revelation is particularly intriguing because, unlike previous collaborations where characters like Cloud Strife appeared in *Super Smash Bros.* before their games arrived on Nintendo platforms, no official *Halo* content has ever been released for the Switch family, making this potential partnership a major departure from past trends.
The host outlines two primary scenarios for how this *Halo* connection might manifest. The first possibility is that Nintendo will release the *Halo: Combat Evolved* campaign, which was previously ported to PlayStation 5, potentially as a holiday launch title alongside *Zelda*. This approach would leverage the scalable engine of the original game to showcase the Switch 2's capabilities while using the amiibo to generate pre-launch hype. The second, and perhaps more exciting option for Nintendo fans, is that the amiibo serves as an introduction to the full *Master Chief Collection*. Since the collection was not included in the PlayStation port despite its popularity on PC and Xbox, bringing it to the Switch 2 would allow Nintendo to capture a wider audience of hardcore gamers who are familiar with the franchise but have never experienced it on a Nintendo system.
Alternatively, the rumor could point toward a future *Super Smash Bros.* entry rather than a standalone game release this year. The host speculates that if the amiibo is intended for next year, it might coincide with the announcement of a new *Smash Bros.* game, possibly scheduled for 2027 to allow for a longer DLC roadmap. This scenario would be significant as it could mark a reset for the series following *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*, potentially featuring a smaller roster and updated character mechanics that reflect modern designs, such as Mario's appearance in *Super Mario Odyssey*. The inclusion of Master Chief in a new fighting game would not only be a historic moment but also align with Nintendo's strategy of introducing iconic characters from other platforms into their ecosystem, similar to how they handled Cloud Strife.
Ultimately, the video concludes by emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding these rumors while highlighting the credibility of the source, Special Nick, who has accurately predicted many aspects of the Switch 2's release and features. The host invites viewers to speculate on whether the amiibo is a precursor to a standalone *Halo* game, a component of a future *Smash Bros.* roster, or simply a marketing tool for an upcoming holiday launch. Regardless of which path Nintendo chooses, the existence of a dedicated *Halo* amiibo suggests that the franchise will play a key role in the console's strategy, either by capitalizing on the success of the recent campaign port or by finally bringing the beloved Master Chief to the Nintendo audience he has long awaited.

Before I get into anything, guys, we're
giving away a Switch 2. We'll be drawing
the winner on October 1st. You can enter
through the link down in the pinned
comment or the description. The only
requirement to enter is to be subscribed
to the channel, and look, guys, this is
not the video I thought I was going to
be making today. Uh when I, you know,
yesterday, yesterday we had our our big
Zelda video that I've been kind of
piling some stuff up for, and now we
just kind of wait for more Zelda
information to come, which I don't know
if we're going to get any more leaks or
any crazy things the rest of this month,
but I do suspect once we get to
September, some of that stuff might
continue, and then we'll eventually get
to that big direct we're waiting for.
Uh but, today we're talking about
something different because I thought
today would just be like, "Oh, we're
going to have another discussion video."
And I guess this is kind of one, but
it's actually a news / leak that you're
probably hearing about for the very
first time here because it deals with
Halo.
And what's interesting is there are two
different paths this can go. It could
mean we're about to get a Halo game
announced, maybe even in the next
direct, for a Nintendo Switch 2, which,
look, we all know about that campaign,
the Halo CE, that ended up going to
PlayStation 5 and selling halfway decent
there. So, yep, that could be it. Could
be the Master Chief Collection. We'll
dive into that stuff. But, also this
could be an indicator for a different
game. A game that might excite you even
more as Nintendo fans, although maybe
you love Halo, and that's the more
exciting prospect here.
It could mean that Master Chief is
coming to the next Smash Bros. Cuz it
could be related to that. And you're
probably wondering, "Wait a second. How
could it be these two completely
different things? What are we talking
about?" Well, let's get into the rumor.
It comes from Special Nick. Special Nick
has been extremely accurate with things
over the last couple of years when it
comes to Switch 2. He knew about its
release timing. He knew about the price
points and the two models. Uh he knew,
obviously, about Donkey Kong Bonanza and
a whole bunch of other stuff. He
actually had a lot of knowledge on a lot
of different things that just keep
coming true. And yesterday during my Q&A
live stream, which no you can't see
publicly, so sorry that you won't be
able to verify this, but I do have a
screenshot. It is what it is, guys. Uh
it's available for our legend and up
members. For those that want to look,
that's our on-demand policy, but it was
a public live stream like I do often.
And uh he popped into the chat and
decided to talk to the chat and dropped
something that I didn't even realize at
the time, but my mods made sure I saw
after the fact. And that is some news on
Halo and Switch 2. So, over here is the
screenshot, and you see the chat here
where it says Special Nick, Ninte Prime,
want me to quickly jump on StreamYard.
Unfortunately, it never really worked
out. He never really got into my live
stream so we could further talk about
this, or I would have a clip to show you
guys. But we're going to stick with the
chat here. Uh or you're not in
StreamYard. And then uh J Bigs here
says, "What's up? I need you to leak
when Halo, Gears of War Reloaded, and
Doom the Dark Ages is coming to Switch
2." And Special Nick decided to give him
a little something. I think they're
trying to make Halo happen. Now, that's
just an opinion, but here's why he
thinks that. There's an amiibo ready for
it.
Wait, what? Let's read that again.
Special Nick, I think they're trying to
make Halo happen. There's an amiibo
ready for it. So, he is apparently
aware, and again, he's been very
reliable, of a Halo amiibo already
existing. Like, behind the scenes, of
course, not publicly announced. A Halo
amiibo. Now, we know nothing from Halo
is currently on Switch or Switch 2.
Unless you want to count some skins, I
guess, maybe in Fortnite or whatever.
But point is, nothing from Halo is
actually on Switch 2, and we didn't get
Master Chief in Smash last time with
Smash Ultimate. So, there's no history
of Halo with Nintendo. So, this is
really, really interesting. And again,
kind of goes one of three directions.
Really one of two, but you know, we're
talking about in terms of Halo games
versus Smash Bros. So, first let's dive
into the prospect of it being a Halo
game it's related to, which is what
Special Nick is leaning towards. Look,
guys, as I said, their big release for
Halo this year was obviously the
campaign from Halo 1 and it's pretty
well received and look, it's one of
those things that yeah, it's kind of a
graphical showcase sort of thing, but
the engine it runs on is scalable and
does currently run on Switch 2. So, it
is possible to bring it over. I think
anything's pretty much possible to bring
over to Switch 2 if they care about it
and that could make a lot of sense if
there's a later port cuz they got dev
kits late, but they're going to launch
it with an amiibo, kind of drive some
hype and that's going to help Nintendo
during the holidays, right? They're
going to have Halo come out, they're
going to have Zelda come out. That's
kind of a nice little punch for the
holidays, especially because Halo would
be obviously fun to play and maybe it
even supports things like game share for
for co-op or whatever. I have no idea,
right? We'll we'll dive into that if and
when that is what it is. The other
option and this is one that I always
throw out there cuz I think this is a
great way to bring Nintendo fans into
Halo fully. Obviously, you know, Halo
1's campaign coming back is also a great
entry point, but if you want to
experience the fullness of Halo, there
is the Master Chief Collection, which
has been out for quite some time.
It has been updated and upgraded and
actually made a little better than it
was at launch and honestly, guys, it
would be a great fit to have the Master
Chief Collection as an introduction to
Halo for Nintendo fans, but they didn't
do that for PlayStation. They went with
the latest Halo stuff and they, you
know, so far haven't done that with
Nintendo. They've left Master Chief
Collection just on PC and Xbox. So, I do
think that that's a missed opportunity
and that could be the way they're
leaning to try to hype up Halo and this
amiibo for the holidays and I do think
if price correctly, it actually could
sell some decent numbers as Nintendo
fans are, you know, I would say us
hardcore ones are generally aware of
Halo. Some of us even played it cuz
we're multiplatform gamers, but for
those that haven't, we're aware of it.
We know it's popular. We also know it's
a bit of an underdog at this point
compared to other properties out there
and look, Nintendo fans like nothing
more than underdog stories and that
feels weird to say that about Halo when
it used to be like a tent pole IP. It
still can be. It's just been a long time
since it's been universally praised. All
right.
So, that is the possibilities I think
with Halo. Obviously, it could be
anything else. Like there was that Halo
RTS at one point. Maybe that's coming
back and they're going to put that on
Switch because of mouse mode. Okay,
cool. Like yeah, there's other
possibilities, but those two are really
I think the most realistic ones if Halo
is coming and this amiibo is real.
The other one is that the amiibo isn't
actually for this year. It's actually
for next year and that would be to
launch alongside a brand new Super Smash
Bros. game. Now, we have no idea how
long Smash has been in development for.
Obviously, we know Kirby Air Ride has
came out last year. There's been some
updates, but that team is basically shut
down at this point. So, we know that
he's fully working on Smash, Sakurai and
his team and Bandai Namco are probably
deep into development on Smash right
now, but it's possible they could have
also been developing Smash because
again, separate team,
uh the entire time that Kirby Air Ride
has was being made. So, Smash in general
could be ready to go next year. And if
you start to look at a lineup that
includes Smash Bros. in 2027 because
again, they're going to want or 2027,
sorry. 2027 because that gives them a
longer road map for DLC. I will note
that hey, this starts to look really
good next year. You have obviously Wind
Waker and Waves announced for next year
and Xenoblade Chronicles Genesis
currently announced for next year. We
have Nate the Hate saying that 3D Mario
is going to come next year and then if
Smash Bros. is, that is four major tent
pole games for next year. And I get
Xenoblade Genesis might not be like the
massive seller, but it's still probably
going to be a really good game and a
nice addition to the library. Without
knowing any of Nintendo's tweener games,
any ports or remakes they might have,
any other spin-offs they could have
coming out, any Kirby game perhaps. Um
like guys, there's actually that's a
really sick lineup for 2027 if that is
what happens. Obviously, of course,
right now Smash is 1,000% speculative. I
guess you could say Mario is as well
though. The expectation of a new 3D
Mario a decade after the last one, I
don't think is super crazy. Uh Uh,
that's why people thought we might get
3D Mario last year for the holidays.
Like, I don't think it's wild to expect
3D Mario next year. So, yeah. Um, I do
think that's probably going to be the
case. But, Smash Bros. is like that wild
card cuz, yeah, maybe it's a 2028 game.
Maybe it's not ready. But, if an amiibo
is ready, uh, and this it is related to
Master Chief being in the new Smash
Bros. game, that would be quite
interesting as obviously I assume that
Sakurai is going to be resetting Smash
Bros. a bit here after Ultimate cuz
Ultimate really felt like the pinnacle
of everything Smash had been to that
point. And while Smash always has to be
Smash, you can't deviate too far from
what makes Smash Bros. Smash Bros. or
it's not a Smash Bros. game. Uh, I will
say that I do think he's going to try
some new ideas and some new things and
really shrink that roster down. Now, I'm
talking about pre-DLC. I'm not saying
there won't be like 25 characters added
with DLC over time. But, I'm saying that
I don't think the roster is going to be
nearly as large as Ultimate was, maybe
half the size or even less as he
refocuses on some single-player elements
and some other mini-games and other
things that end up making this stand
out. Uh, and maybe he knows make a
fundamental change to the way Smash
goes. Like, I feel like Smash
gameplay-wise hasn't really had like any
massive changes. And like, some
characters have been using the same move
sets for decades. I think it's time to
maybe upgrade those characters like
Mario and Link and the rest and kind of
upgrade their arsenals to the more
modern versions. Of course, what is the
most modern version of Mario? I guess
it's back in with Cappy back in 2017.
But, then a new Mario's coming. So,
maybe let him in a little bit on what
the new Mario's going to do. So, maybe
he can design this Mario design around
the new Mario. That would be ideally
probably the best way to go. Like, I
assume DK will probably be designed
around the Badanza DK. Maybe. I don't
know cuz Sakurai pretty much has the
freedom to do mostly what he wants
because it just keeps being successful.
But, this idea of Master Chief being
included in the game isn't crazy. It is
actually, I think, a fairly reasonable
take uh, that that could happen.
Especially since Halo is technically
multi-platform at the moment. I know, I
know. Asha, the leader of Xbox, has been
talking about pulling back to do
exclusives, and I do think a future
full-on Halo game might be exclusive to
Xbox and PC,
but I just want to throw out there that,
hey, for now, they did bring it to PS5,
so it would make sense if they were
finishing up their plans to bring that
to Switch 2. And maybe it's the only
Halo we end up getting is that Halo
campaign. I mean, we never get more Halo
cuz Xbox has shifted. But maybe we do
get more Halo because the sales end up
being undeniable, and Microsoft is like,
"Oh, damn, we better bring our next Halo
to Nintendo and PlayStation cuz the
sales are crazy. Why would we miss out
on those sales?" Now, I don't have any
actual sales data at the moment for the
Halo stuff, so I don't know. I know it's
like 80% of sales were on PS5. Of
course, most people on Xbox are using
Game Pass, so that's not counted as a
sale, just a play session. So, anyways,
guys, uh yeah, whatever the case might
be, going back to the original rumor
here, just to remind you guys what's
going on. So, J Bigs asked him, "What's
up? I need you to leak when Halo, Gears
of War Reloaded, and Doom the Dark Ages
is coming to Switch 2." Really shocked
Doom the Dark Ages isn't even announced
yet. I I it has to be coming over,
right? I I mean, maybe it's not going to
cuz of this new exclusive strategy. I
don't know. Anyway, Special Nick
responds and says, "I think they're
trying to make Halo happen." And again,
that's his opinion. But then this is the
part he apparently knows. He's claiming
he knows there's an amiibo ready for it.
A Halo amiibo is ready. That is a very
specific Nintendo-esque item that
Nintendo would be in charge of
manufacturing, so
we'll have to wait and see. The next
direct could be quite interesting. Now,
this doesn't mean that any of this gets
revealed in the next direct, especially
if it's Smash Bros. Like, maybe they
wait till 2027 to show that. But uh
again, or maybe the Halo's not for this
year, either. That's entirely possible
that the Halo's actually for next year.
Maybe it gets announced this year. I
have no idea. So, you guys let me know
what you think about this down in the
comments below. I think this is a really
interesting conversation point. I'm not
really sure where it's going here. I do
trust Special Nick. I do think he's
probably right that there is a Halo
amiibo.
The question is what is it for? They
don't just release an amiibo for a
character that's never been on Nintendo.
They do it when they're bringing that
character to Nintendo. The question is,
how will it first appear and what will
this amiibo be related to? Cuz after
all, we got amiibos for some characters
in Smash Bros that literally at the time
never had their games on Nintendo. Uh
so, yeah, like Cloud, right? Cloud
Strife in terms of the Final Fantasy VII
remake version. At the time that we got
that character in Smash, that that that
remake version had never been on
Nintendo. So, but we obviously saw what
happened later. That's why I'm saying,
it could be for Smash with a Halo game
coming later or it could just be for
Smash and it's just for Smash.
We're throwing that out there. We're
we're we're kind of doing a a wide spray
of possibilities here because it's
speculation time. So, what I want you
guys to do is go down in the comments
below and speculate yourself on the
future of Halo on Nintendo. What do you
think this amiibo means? Or do you think
Special Nick is full of [ __ ] and knows
absolutely nothing?
Cool.
Let me know why you think that as well
because he's been so damn accurate.
It's almost undeniable. He clearly has
at least one really good connection. All
right, guys. Thank you so much for
tuning in. I am Nathaniel Bandy from
Nintendo Prime and I'll catch you guys
in the next video.
