Video summary

A disgusting trick all narcissists do to
their victims.
In this video, we're going to be talking
about a sneaky dishonest trick that all
narcissists use.
This is a low blow,
a form of betrayal, an unfair tactic
which is designed to sabotage your
success, reputation, or well-being.
So, this is something that would be
considered to be deeply despicable,
repulsive, and morally sickening
because of the lack of sportsmanship and
basic decency.
I'm going to be explaining to you
exactly what this trick is so that you
can become more aware of it.
But before I get into it,
I'd really appreciate it if you could
give this video a thumbs up as it helps
to get this video out there
to others who may need to become aware
of this as well.
Because when we're dealing with
narcissists,
awareness is key.
So, let's work together to spread
awareness of what these types of people
do
so that we can be better able to protect
ourselves.
And if you would like more personalized
support,
you are welcome to book a consultation
with me whenever you are ready. Go to
narciviver.co.uk.
Now, let's talk about this
because I want you to be aware of this
before you might sink deeper into this
trap that they may have laid out for
you.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make
with a narcissist
is assuming that just because you would
protect someone's vulnerability, they
will too.
Because sometimes the moment you feel
safe enough to tell them something, like
what you might be insecure about what
happened to you as a child, what you're
frightened of [snorts]
or what you couldn't cope with losing.
You may think you're just creating
intimacy with this person. You may think
you're building a connection,
but they may have just learned what
hurts you. A narcissist can be ruthless.
They may show no mercy to their victim.
They will use your own insecurities or
vulnerabilities against you. They will
use anything that you have confided in
them, anything that you may have trusted
them with. They will keep it in their
back pocket to use against you at a
later date.
They are not to be trusted. They are not
someone you can open up to
or someone you can share your dreams,
goals, hopes or ambitions with. They
will use anything you share with them
against you.
They are not going to be happy for you.
They are not going to encourage you.
They are not going to care for your
feelings.
They're not going to do any of that for
you because they don't want to see you
grow, succeed, or thrive.
They want to hold you back in life.
And the narcissist may not always be an
intimate partner. Sometimes this could
be a parent, a sibling, a friend, a work
colleague, a neighbor,
but it's usually someone close to you,
someone who you may think you can trust.
Think about whether you've experienced
this in the past where you may have told
someone something personal about
yourself.
You may have expressed how you always
feel like you're not a good enough
parent.
And then a few months later during an
argument they may say to you
even you know you're not a good parent
or you might say to your parents I
always feel like I'm not good enough for
you.
And then the next time you try to set a
boundary with your parents, they might
say, "You've always been insecure and
overly sensitive."
And that is what makes this so painful.
Because while the information may be
true, the conclusion they're attached to
isn't.
They're taking your vulnerability,
something that you have revealed during
a moment of trust,
and then they are strategically placing
it somewhere they know you'll struggle
to defend
until something really sad starts to
happen.
You stop being vulnerable. You stop
sharing your true feelings or deep
thoughts.
But instead you hide behind emotional
walls.
And not just with this person,
with everyone.
You fear being hurt again by criticism,
rejection, or stress.
So you start treating openless like
danger
because someone taught you that anything
personal you reveal about yourself might
be ammunition to someone.
This is something you can unlearn with
the right person with someone who you
can trust.
It doesn't mean that you should never
trust anyone again. It means that
vulnerability should be earned.
Not everyone is entitled to know about
your vulnerabilities or insecurities.
Start with the small things and watch
what they do with them.
Because if someone can't be trusted with
the small things you tell them,
why would you trust them with the things
that matter even more?
Trust isn't something you have to give
all at once.
Let someone show you little by little
that they're capable of handling it.
And this is where you need to start
paying attention to someone's behavior.
Because people will often tell you that
you can trust them. They'll tell you
that they would never betray you.
They'll tell you that they would never
use something you've told them against
you.
But you don't really know someone
because of what they promise you.
You learn who someone is by watching
what they do when they have something
they could use against you.
Do they protect the things you've told
them? Do they respect your boundaries?
Do they keep your private conversations
private?
Or do they bring those things back up
whenever they're angry with you?
Do they make little comments about your
insecurities?
Do they embarrass you with things you've
told them in confidence?
Do they remember exactly where you're
vulnerable and then somehow find a way
to press on that exact point when they
want to hurt you?
Because that's when you start to see the
difference between someone who simply
knows your vulnerabilities
and someone who respects them. And that
difference tells you a lot about whether
you're actually safe being vulnerable
with them.
If you're dealing with narcissistic
abuse
or you're trying to heal afterwards,
I have a new Facebook group where I post
daily short videos.
It is a community of like-minded people
who are focusing on understanding what
they went through and healing from this.
And you also have direct access to talk
to me inside the community.
Here is the link to my new Facebook
group.
And before you go, I want you to grab a
pen and paper because I want you to
answer this one question.
You can answer it in the comments if
you're comfortable, but you don't have
to.
What part of yourself did you stop
sharing because someone once made you
regret being honest about it?
Think about it carefully
because vulnerability was never your
weakness.
The weakness belongs to the person who
saw your trust and then decided to
weaponize it against you.
Thank you for joining me here today
and I'll see you in the next one.
