A Big Zelda 40th & Nintendo Direct Leak!?

The only requirement is to be subscribed to the channel in order to enter. Today we got to be talking about The Legend of Zelda, the 40th anniversary. Bit of a little little bit of acronym time. And guys, uh our first hints at an upcoming Nintendo Direct. And this is the one I think we've been waiting for, everyone. the one that we should be expecting to happen shortly before Tokyo Game Show. We might even know the day. We'll see. I don't know. [gasps and sighs] Oh, but it's fun to talk about, guys, cuz we're here. Now, look, we've had some stories lately about some Zelda movie cast members leaking out there. I want to recap a few of this because we have two potential new leaks. Well, one of them I'm fairly confident is a leak. The other one, well, I'm going to tell you why we should be a little skeptical, but we just want to remind everyone where all this stuff comes from. Well, Deadline was breaking a lot of this news. Uh, so Ulie Latakifu lands the villain role of Ganondorf in Sony and Nintendo's Legend of Zelda movie. You can see him pictured right there. Now, uh, what's interesting about that story is that he is apparently inked to multiple films for Zelda. So, that does suggest a potential trilogy. You know, you can think of the Triforce perhaps. You know, you got courage, right? You got wisdom, you got power. Maybe that's the direction of the movies. Or maybe it's something else entirely. We really don't know. Uh but I am really excited to see it. And I'm really glad that this is the person. I think it it is a good choice for Ganondorf. Uh maybe even a great choice. And that's not all. Obviously, we mentioned in our last uh video about how Sam Neil is going to be uh in here posthumis humanistly. He did pass away last month sadly. Uh, I hope that his family is doing well and if you know if there's a great beyond that he's in a better place. But, uh, that's not the only thing in here because look, we don't know what character Sam Neil is playing. But, Deacon Lachman was stated, which we've already seen in leaked footage already. So, we sort of already knew Deacon Lachman was playing Impa. Uh, but hey, we have that. And then Yavon Strahovski is also uh part of this who's apparently playing some sort of queen character. Now, people have thought about, well, you know, is it the queen of Hyrule? Some are like, "Hey, what if it's like Queen of the Zoras or something like that?" We don't really know, right? Obviously, because we haven't seen any of the stuff get confirmed by Nintendo, but that's all stuff that's fairly reliable. Well, after we talked about all of that, a new person from Deadline was stated to be part of The Legend of Zelda movie, although role was unknown, and that person is Lydia Pekkim. So, look, I don't know much about her outside of the fact that she has worked with West Ball in the past on obviously things like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Still, we don't know what her role is. I just think that this is really interesting because if all of this is coming out now, it sort of suggests that yeah, they probably are planning to reveal the cast, if not show our first trailer for this movie sometime soon. And that's where we start to try to figure out when that sometime soon is. But before we do, there's one other name you've probably seen floating out there. One of the big names that broke today. But I have to let you know why we can't necessarily give this as much credence as we did all the leaks from Deadline. This is again a new actress supposedly playing a major character in The Legend of Zelda movie. Samra Weaving has reportedly been cast as Halia in the liveaction Legend of Zelda movie. Now, got to be careful here because the source is Daniel RPK. And as you're noticing community notes here, uh I haven't voted on it yet, but the source is not reliable for The Legend of Zelda information. They did once claim that Hunter Schaefer was being eyed to play Zelda, which was completely incorrect. And yes, was confirmed by pretty much everyone involved that at no point was Hunter Schaefer even like applying or even running for the role. There was no submission tape or try out for Hunter Schaefer at any point. Zero consideration from both sides. So yeah, they were 100% wrong with that. So a lot of people go, "Hey, yeah, this guy's got a lot of followers. Yes, this guy's been right on a bunch of other stuff, but hey, he kind of was like 0 for one on anything to do with the Zelda movie, so why would he suddenly know anything now when his sources were so wrong then? So again, just keeping that in mind that while this could be a legitimate leak, I do have some skepticism and I think it's good for you guys to have some as well. Now, I did mention since we're getting all of this out there, it does seem like we're obviously going to have this trailer soon. Uh, we've seen obviously leaks for a potential uh, Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary controller and themed console, even the like the logo and stuff. That's all stuff we've gone over. So, you start combining this together. And the fact that Ocarina Time is the big holiday game for Nintendo Switch 2, yet we don't know what month it's coming out in. And we even haven't seen the gameplay for the game yet. So, we really need to see some stuff fairly soon. And it's sounding like September is going to be when, which isn't a surprise. I don't think we need leaks. I don't think we need rumors to know that there's probably going to be a direct in September. You look at the history of Nintendo. It's usually the week before or the week of Tokyo Game Show. That said, we have our first sort of inside information here. Someone hinting that this direct is incoming. And uh some people on my channel might be looking at this because of something that happened on my live stream last night involving this person based on something I was saying publicly. I'm going to talk about that as well. because yes, uh me and this person did talk. No. Uh I didn't get any information and that's okay. [laughter] Let's talk about it to the backlog. But first, we got to go to Necro Felipe here. He says, "My guess, and this are they're just guessing, no inside info for the date for the next general Nintendo Direct is September 15th. On that same date, Diablo I would be announced and released for Switch 2." Uh and yeah, that could be like a shadow drop, right? and he's gonna, you know, get that prediction in. Attach the backlog comes in here and says, "I better not comment." Now, does that mean he knows it's on September 15th or does he know September 15th is the wrong date? Obviously, that is up for speculation. Uh, and it says, you know, what is it that you know? And he says enough to book time off from work, but also enough to get into trouble for opening my mouth too early. So he's essentially saying, "Yeah, look, enough that I'm really confident to give up money uh in order to watch this uh show." So I'm literally taking time off. So very confident in when this is happening, but obviously not going to give any hints cuz he doesn't want to screw anything up. He says, "Attack by commenting that you better not comment. You just in fact commented on said speculation." It goes back in fact does the sim similar response there. Uh you know, already Nash and him have spoken on a prior topic as well. Look guys, Ted the Backlo has been really accurate on this stuff in the past. He's even done things as so confidently to schedule a live reaction stream for an unannounced Nintendo Direct that a lot of people just didn't believe him. And then boom, it gets announced. And it's not only on that exact same day, it's at the exact time that he set his stream for. So yeah, look, man, he's clearly knows some information. Now, some of you out there might know that he showed up on my live stream last night and I made a little call out to him, Special Nick, or whoever was watching that, hey, with my, you know, potential upcoming surgery here. I really don't want to miss this Nintendo Direct. I miss covering it. 40th anniversary Zelda stuff. Really special for me. I'm a man this year. I'm 40 years old. So, I'm just like, you know, I really want to be able to cover it and schedule my surgery around it. So, if anyone knows behind the scenes, why don't you come talk to me and let me know? and attack at the backlog publicly said, "Hey, go to your DMs." Well, look, we did talk and I'm not going to tell you basically anything we talked about other than the fact that he told me, "Yeah, he's not going to tell me shit." [laughter] So, that was the conclusion. I know nothing. He told me nothing. So, what do I know? Nothing other than what he has said publicly here. I better not comment. Just like he better not tell me. But [laughter] as he said, he took off work. So, hey, September 15th, maybe. I have no idea. Sometime in September seems fairly uh set. Zelda stuff. Lots of Zelda stuff being in it seems fairly set. Now, the question I have is what 2027 game that's not Zelda are they going to pair with all the Zelda stuff that we don't know about? could be being a little uh I don't know.
