Video summary
The video begins with an update on a significant free software update for *Mario Kart 8 Deluxe* on the Nintendo Switch, which is being prepared for the upcoming Switch 2 console. This version 4.0.0 update introduces support for up to eight players in local split-screen mode, along with camera play features and improvements to resolution and load times. While the original game runs at 1080p when docked on the standard Switch, the new version on the Switch 2 reportedly achieves 2160p (4K) resolution while docked and maintains a consistent 60 frames per second in single-player mode. The host notes that although some fans are upset because this enhanced experience might make the newer *Mario Kart World* seem less appealing, these exclusive features actually provide a strong incentive for players to upgrade their hardware if they prefer the classic game's mechanics.
The discussion then shifts to leaks regarding Ubisoft titles and new screen technology for the next-generation console. A retailer listing has surfaced suggesting that *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, which was previously thought to be Switch-exclusive, might eventually arrive on the Switch 2, highlighting Ubisoft's reputation for frequent leaks. Additionally, reports from China indicate that Sharp is assembling LCD panels for the Switch 2, potentially signaling a move toward mass production. The host explains that while current screens have faced criticism for ghosting issues, this new panel could represent an engineering sample intended to fix those problems, though it remains unclear if Nintendo will stick with one manufacturer or continue using multiple suppliers, leading to potential variations in screen quality similar to the "panel lottery" experienced on previous consoles.
The main focus of the video is a major leak concerning the developer of the *Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* remake. Early pre-order listings from a retailer in a specific country list Monolith Soft as the sole developer, suggesting they are likely leading the project alongside Nintendo's internal team. This revelation is significant because Monolith Soft has extensive experience with the *Zelda* franchise, having worked on *Tears of the Kingdom* from day one and previously teased their own *Legend*-themed IP. The host theorizes that Monolith Soft may be handling the remake while the main development team focuses on the current 3D *Zelda* series and potentially *Majora's Mask*, which would explain the medieval high-fantasy art style seen in recent teasers. Although there is no confirmed release date yet, the involvement of Monolith Soft is seen as a positive sign given their track record of delivering high-quality games.
The video concludes with the host wrapping up his coverage from PAX West and teasing an upcoming Nintendo Direct scheduled for next week. He mentions that insider Nate The Hate will be releasing a podcast about *Zelda*'s 40th anniversary, which may contain further predictions or leaks regarding the direct's content. The host acknowledges that while the exact timing of the direct is uncertain, it will likely happen within the next few days, possibly on Tuesday morning. He encourages viewers to tune in for live streaming coverage if possible and ends by inviting fans attending the convention to meet him and other members of his team for photos, autographs, and conversations, emphasizing their dedication to creating content and interacting with their audience during this exciting period of game news.

All right, everyone. Welcome back to
this special edition of our news story
today. You can tell I'm out in the
normal place because I'm out at PAX
West, of course. Uh, but hey, I did say
we're going to get a couple news videos.
That's why I'm here, especially when big
news is happening. And before we get
into that news, we're giving away a
Nintendo Switch, too. We'll be drawing
the winner on October 1st. In order to
enter, you just got to click on the link
down in the pin comment or the
description. And uh, guys, the only
requirement to enter is to be subscribed
to the channel. So, hey, dude. I'm so
dedicated and I'm out here doing double
time work, baby. Work for packs to bring
you guys content while still doing my
normal job. All right, guys. We got some
big stories. You're going to understand
why I couldn't just not cover this
stuff. Uh, we have a huge update to
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch
2, believe it or not. Very fascinating.
People are taking it in certain ways. I
don't think they should, but it is
interesting because obviously they
launched with a brand new Mario Kart
game that has yet to get any DLC. Uh,
beyond all that, well, Ubisoft's at it
again. Um, one of the games they
released earlier this year looks like
it's coming to Switch, too. And, uh,
they continue to be the most leaked
company pretty much that I can even
think of. Uh, beyond all of that, did
you know Nintendo is working on some
brand new screen technology, or at least
a new screen manufacturer, I should say,
which potentially may or may not improve
screen quality on Switch 2 moving
forward. It also might make no
difference at all. We'll talk about that
story here. But we have our big story of
the day. The headline topic, the
cudigra, the oh my god, I can't even
believe it. So, next week, guys, you
guys know we've been talking about a
direct, right? This isn't actually about
the direct, but I think this news is
because the direct is coming. So, first
off, yeah, Nate the Hate is, you know,
doing some things related to Zelda's
40th anniversary. We'll talk about that.
But what I really wanted to get into
here is that a retailer has decided to
start listing uh a time up for pre-order
and all that, which is probably in
anticipation of it coming out or you
know the the direct next week or
whatever and just getting ahead of the
curve. What's interesting though is the
information they have on the game
appears to reveal what may be the main
developer or possibly the only developer
for the game. and who's doing it, I
think is going to really excite you
guys. Again, we got to talk about all
avenues of what it might mean and
hopefully we have the answer
definitively next week from Nintendo.
But, uh, oh god, guys, I'm just I'm so
excited. Let's go ahead and dive into
our very first story here. And as you
can see, we are looking at Mario Kart 8
Deluxe version 4.0.0.
Uh, this is a sideby-side comparison,
but I actually want to read this article
because you guys haven't seen the news
yet on my channel. So, yesterday,
Nintendo surprised Mario Kart fans with
a free Switch 2 update for the Switch
game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Apart from the
ability to race with up to eight
participants in local split screen,
there's also camera play support, as
well as resolution and load time
improvements. YouTube channel uh L
Analysta Deitz has now shared a
sidebyside video comparison showing how
the game runs on Switch 2 compared to
the Switch. As a recap, Mario Kart 8
Deluxe on Switch is a 1080p and docked
720p in handheld and runs at 60 fps with
frame rate hald in split screen with
three to four players. As for the game
on Switch 2, as of version 4.0.0, it's
apparently 2160p docked, so 4K and 1080p
in handheld at a consistent 60 fps. The
frame rate is habd when playing three to
four player split screen and the new
eight player split screen mode. Split
screen mode. Nintendo has also managed
to cut seconds from the game's load
times while playing on the Switch, too.
And yeah, they did some tests of that
stuff. It's pretty interesting. As you
can see, some of the load time
differences here. Uh, I think it's
really neat. Uh, the 30 FPS extending to
eight players, I think, makes a lot of
sense. Uh, and yeah, it's pretty cool.
They obviously, you know, put some
decent work into this and I think people
in general are going to be pretty happy.
Now, what I find really interesting
about this is the fact that they did all
this. Well, Mario Kart World came out on
Switch 2, and that seems to be the
reason that you would buy a Nintendo
Switch 2, right? You want Mario Kart
World, not Mario Kart 8. In fact, you
probably already own it. But also, if
you own it, these features are exclusive
to the Switch 2 version of the game. So,
having that in mind, it really makes you
go, "Huh, maybe if you prefer that one,
it's now even better on Switch 2, which
gives people who didn't want to get
Mario Kart World to buy a Switch a
reason to upgrade to Switch 2." I think
Nintendo is just doing good things. I
don't know how a positive update to an
old game is bad. I think people are
overreacting on its impact on Mario Kart
World or that Mario Kart World's a
failure because of this. Look guys,
Nintendo does lots of things. These
random free updates are exactly the kind
of thing I like Nintendo doing during
this generation. And I hope they do it
to the entire Switch 2 library that they
have direct control over. All right,
guys. We got to get into our next story.
And look, Ubisoft leaking things Switch
2 related. What a shocker. Let's take a
look here. So, Manette Advanced Pro,
Sandsville 2, Assassin's Creed, Black
Resincted, Nintendo Switch 2. What are
you looking at here? You're looking at a
controller. Oh my gosh, guys. There it
is. This is a a Switch 2 third-party
controller for Assassin's Creed 4 Black
Flag Reync, which came out earlier this
year, but despite Shadows being on
Switch 2, Assassin's Creed Shadows never
got announced for Switch 2, which I
think shocked a lot of people, but now
it appears to be coming. Now, look,
Ubisoft is the company that can't keep
any secret at this point. We've known
this for decades. So, yeah, this is
probably legit, like most Ubisoft leaks
are. And I suspect, hey, this might be
one of those games announced in the
Nintendo Direct since it's the only
version of the game that needs that kind
of announcement. So, I don't know, guys.
You can tell me what you think about
this down below. I just think, you look,
Ubisoft leaking things, Nintendo yada
yada yada. What a shocker. I I don't get
it. I don't get how this company becomes
this way and maintains this way. Why
they haven't found a way to lock things
down better. Not even EA games leak as
much as this. So, what are you gonna do?
Uh, next up though, our second to last
story. This one's interesting because of
what it might mean. Also, it might be
not that interesting because it also
might not mean a whole lot. Uh, let's go
look at Nintendo patents watch here over
on Blue Sky who discovered that another
parts reseller in China is selling the
Sharp assembled Switch 2 LCD panel. Like
the last one I saw, the model number is
LS0D7081,
possibly indicating an engineering
sample. These are now surfacing at a
faster pace in the marketplace and that
is a sign of mass production. Now to
note, this is really interesting because
if you look at the previous thing from a
week ago, uh this seems to be a version
two of the LCD panel or at least a
different manufacturer. Uh and what's
really interesting about that is the
current uh LCD screen has like uh some
ghosting issues and some stuff that are
actually worse than the Switch One panel
while obviously having those things that
are better. It's possible that this
could be a panel that's being going to
mass production that fixes those
problems and they're just updating, you
know, all future models that come out
or, and this could be likely too because
Nintendo has done this many times over
the year, they're just going to have
multiple panel manufacturers and they
just distribute it quite randomly. Uh
there used to be this thing with 3DS and
DS back in the day like it'd be the
panel lottery. Everyone's trying to get
like the IPS panel versus the VA panel.
Uh and it was kind of random if if you
would get it. It was based on certain
models made at certain factories. This
is obviously still an LCD panel. It's
not an OLED. They're not doing some
major upgrades here. And we don't know
if this panel is even better than the
current panel. I mean, I guess it
technically could be worse. Uh but yeah,
this is just one of those things I
wanted to bring to you guys' attention
because as these end up hitting the
marketplace and not just on resellers,
uh you're going to start seeing that uh
people are going to be testing this out.
They're going to tear it apart and see
which screen is which and we'll see if
there's any improvements eventually
because it is something that people have
noted having issues with in the past.
All right, guys. This gets us to our
last story of the day. Holy crap, guys.
We just might know or maybe definitively
know. We'll see. The developer of
Ocarina of Time remake. But before I
tell you that, I want to just throw one
little smidg in here. It's related to
Zelda. Nate the Hate is recording a new
podcast episode. He's one of the, you
know, most reliable insiders on the
market. And he specifically said it's
about Zelda's 40th anniversary and more.
Pretty crazy. It's probably dropping
later this week. It's probably going to
include some leaks and predictions for
next week for Zelda's 40th and more.
People are ignoring the more part,
thinking he's just talking about how
next week will only be a Zelda direct.
That's not what he said. In fact, he
didn't even say there's a direct next
week yet. I assume that's going to come
up on the show as well. Uh, but they're
going to be focusing it on Zelda and
more. We just don't know what the And
Morph stuff is. But yeah, that's pretty
cool. But what you're really here for is
to know who the developer is. So, we're
going to head over to this retailer who
put up a pre-order listing early,
seemingly early. They might have
pre-order information already from
Nintendo if they're going up for
pre-order next week. It would make sense
if retailers were informed now,
especially if the direct is on Tuesday
and that's the day pre-orders are going
up. So, yeah, retailers might be getting
informed a little bit on Acarina of Time
so they can set up their pre-order
pages. So, we're looking at this page
obviously uh from a different country
here. This is ELK J OP and it says The
Legend of Zelda Ocarine of Time for
Switch 2. Now, there's no new images
here, so you're not going to see any new
imagery. This is stuff we've already
seen, right? But when we scroll down,
get the product description. So, Link
finally returns to The Legend of Zelda:
Ocarina of Time. One of the greatest
adventures ever, now remastered for
Switch 2. Now, they're using the word
remastered. We know Nintendo uses the
word reborn. This is their language, not
Nintendo's. Okay, but let's go down the
specifications. So, obviously product
dimensions, they're talking about the
packaging and all that, but get this
general information.
Now, this country, Nintendo does use a
third party publisher. So, you're seeing
that third party publisher listed here
in Bergala. This apparently is quite
normal in this country. So, don't be
thrown off by that. In certain
countries, Nintendo has to use other
publishers. Like for a long time in
China, they were using 10-centent. That
didn't mean 10-centent owned the games,
right? It's just how you have to get
into certain markets. You can't always
publish it yourself. You have to go
through another party. But the
interesting part here is the developer.
You're seeing it right there. The
developer name is Monolith Soft. Solo
listed by itself. Now, what could this
mean? Well, the obvious is obvious,
right? Ocarine of Time remake likely has
Monolithoft involved. In fact, they
might be the primary developer. They've
had that Legend game that they've teased
art for and stuff for a while. And I
kept wondering about the tease. And now
the more I think about it, when I go
back to the original one with the woman,
what if that is Zelda as chic and that's
something they've been working on for
the seven-year thing. Also, Monolithoft
has a lot of experience with Zelda. In
fact, with Tears of the Kingdom, it was
the first time they were involved with
the Zelda game on the ground floor from
day one, and they've probably learned a
lot. And maybe through that is how they
ended up being able to make Ocarina of
Time remake. Uh especially while the
Zelda team is obviously kicking around
with the new 3D Zelda. Uh they could be
handling this then go help the Zelda
team finish off that then maybe even
work on Majora's Mask. So this is really
interesting especially when you bring in
the Legend stuff because if this is that
game that Legend was that we thought was
a new IP seemed seemingly was teased as
a new IP but never really fully 100%
confirmed. I'll just say that uh that
makes a lot of sense and it could
explain why the art was medieval high
fantasy, which is exactly what The
Legend of Zelda is. No, it might not
excite you that it's not a new IP, but
it will excite you that Monolithoft is
making this because Monolithoft does
nothing but make absolute bangers. Okay,
so this already excites me and the
prospects for this particular game. That
being said, folks, obviously this isn't
a 100% confirmation. This potentially is
a leak. You know, again, they could have
legit information. We don't know. We
don't work at this retailer. We're not
sure how they know this stuff, but we do
know that Nintendo does inform retailers
before pre-order day of the information
they need in order to set up a pre-order
page. It's also possible they're
guessing. Obviously, we don't 100% know,
but why is this popping up right now?
Why would they just make a guess at
Monolith off and not just put Nintendo
or NA like unknown, right? So, yeah. and
they seem to know who the publisher is,
which I guess in this country
technically
this this company does a lot of game
publishing out there. So, that's pretty
easy guess for them. But anyways, uh
unfortunately there seems to be no date
like leak here. It would have been cool
if we had like a release date leak or
something, but that's not included in
here. So, I was kind of hoping that like
that could be a nice heavy indicator as
well if they already had the release
date information, which they would
likely have for pre-orders, but that is
not on this page. So, it is what it is,
guys. Uh let me know what you think
about this down in the comments below.
Things are obviously ramping up, not
just because PAX is this week and
Gamescom was last week, but because
there's a Nintendo Direct happening next
week. You can continue to doubt. You can
continue to think it's not happening
because Nintendo hasn't announced it.
They only give 24-hour warnings like 99%
of the time for these directs. So,
you're not going to know until the day
before. The day before could be Monday
or Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
Either way, we're going to find out. And
hell, we might be live streaming that so
right here from this hotel room because
uh if it's on Tuesday morning, we happen
to have the time to do it. Just got to
wake up super early for it. That part's
not fun, but the rest is. So, um and
maybe it won't be this room. Maybe we'll
be in another YouTuber's room.
We're going to leave it at that because
I don't want to give away everything
that might be happening with my content
this week. All right, guys. Thank you so
much for tuning in. I am Nathaniel Robbo
Jance from Nintendo Prime. And hey, if
you happen to be out in Seattle
attending PAX West, don't be afraid to
come up and say hi to me, Thunder Stash
Gaming, Andreard, N64, Josh, Eric Moore,
Gameberg Classic, all of our significant
