The sixth annual Bemidji Pride weekend
of events will kick off this Thursday
with three days of activities to gather
the community together with a focus on
LGBTQ+
visibility, inclusion, and community
outreach. All events will be held at the
Rail River Folk School in Bemidji. Since
its inception in 2020, Bemidji Pride
weekend has grown to see between 1,500
and 2,500 people over the course of the
three days. This year's theme is rooted
in love and aims to pay homage to the
ideas that created Bemidji's pride in
the first place.

origins of Bemidji Pride, it was always
love. It was rooted in love. So, we were
looking at the people who started it,
how it got started, where the first
funding came from, and it was all people
who wanted to support folks in our
community. Something that's really great
about Bemidji Pride is that there's no
judgment here. You can show up um
whoever and however you are, and nobody
will turn you away. In a time like this
where there is so much division and so
much hate in our our country and our
world as a whole, I think it's really
important to just have a space for
people to come and be as they are.
