Video summary

The documentary explores five harrowing true crime cases that captivated the internet, beginning with the 2019 murder of Ally Costile at Mississippi State University. Ally, a promising marketing student, was killed by her wealthy classmate Brandon Thefeld, who had previously been warned about his misogynistic behavior and tendency to treat women as disposable. After Ally texted him regarding a possible pregnancy in June 2019, he rejected the child and failed to meet her for weeks; on July 19, she met him at a fishing camp where she was fatally shot with nine wounds, an autopsy revealing she was not pregnant. Brandon fled but was arrested shortly after when police recovered a matching weapon from his truck, leading to a confession via handwritten note and a life sentence without parole eligibility until age 65. The narrative then shifts to the 2017 death of Lauren Phelps, whose husband Matthew Phelps murdered her in their apartment despite their public image as a perfect church couple. Although Matthew initially claimed he woke up to find her dead, investigators found him clean, suggesting he had staged the scene and possibly reenacted violence from *American Psycho* before confessing to avoid the death penalty; he was sentenced to life without parole for inflicting over 120 wounds on his defenseless wife. The investigation continues with the tragic disappearance of Lisa Holm in Sweden in 2015, a case that became known as the "Milking Room Murder." After leaving her job at Cafe 40 alone on June 7, Lisa vanished without arriving home, and although a massive search involving hundreds of volunteers found no immediate results, investigators eventually discovered evidence of foul play including a discarded earring and soiled walls in a nearby barn. Her body was later found partially clothed and strangled inside a shed used as a changing room, where DNA evidence linked the crime to Narius, a Lithuanian worker living in the adjacent barn who had washed his clothes immediately after returning home dirty. Narius was arrested, sentenced to life imprisonment, and died in prison from an altercation with another inmate in 2022, while Lisa's funeral took place in July 2015 following the revelation that her killer had cannibalized her remains and kept them as trophies. The final cases presented include the abduction of Bernardet "Bee" Walker in England and the disappearance of Jason Foreman in Rhode Island. Bee, a seventeen-year-old photography student, was taken by her controlling stepfather Scott Walker on July 17, 2020, who confiscated her phone and later killed her after she revealed his abuse to her mother; despite extensive searches using drones and dogs, her body remains missing as Scott died in prison in 2023 before the location could be confirmed. Her mother, Sarah, received a six-year sentence for sending fake texts to cover up Bee's disappearance, while Scott was sentenced to life under "Helen's Law." The documentary concludes with the seven-year search for twelve-year-old Jason Foreman, who vanished in 1975 until his neighbor Michael Woodmensy confessed in 1982 that he had lured and killed him. Although prosecutors reduced the charge to second-degree murder to protect the family from traumatic testimony regarding cannibalism and trophy displays, Michael served only twenty-eight years due to "good time" laws before being committed to a mental health facility where he remains under supervision today.

Some true crime cases reach far beyond the communities where they occurred. Their details are so disturbing, [music] so baffling, and so profoundly unfair that millions of people become invested in the victims and refused to let their stories be forgotten. Of all the cases we've covered, these five reached more people than any others. Today, we're revisiting the five most viral cases ever featured on True Crime Stories. >> [music] >> Ally [music] Costile was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but had always dreamed of attending the University of Mississippi. When she was finally given this chance, in her eyes, life couldn't have gotten much better. But then things [music] changed. Investigators say that there weren't any clues or evidence that [music] could have tipped off Alli's friends before her life was tragically cut short on that July afternoon. Detectives who arrived at the scene of the crime couldn't understand how someone could have done such a thing to a well- behaved, easygoing student. But that's when they honed in on their primary suspect, another student who had a secret agenda that no one could have ever seen coming. Alli Costile was 21 years old in 2019, [music] attending Mississippi State University in Oxford, Mississippi. Oxford, Mississippi is a relatively small town. There isn't a whole lot going on there. I was there just a couple weeks ago, and best I could tell, [music] it was a town that didn't have much to offer outside of a few restaurants and outdoor stores like Tractor Supply. With a population of about 25,000, it's a quaint little town, very quiet, and certainly a great place for college students to live, as there's only so much trouble you can get into in such a small, lazy town. [music] The University of Mississippi is really the main draw for the town, and I think it's safe to assume that the college is likely where the town gets most of its money as well. The university has an acceptance rate of around 90%, but the reason most people go here is likely because its tuition is relatively low compared to other similar [music] schools. And with the graduation rate of about 65%, it fits right in line with schools that may cost 10 times as much while offering what's essentially the same exact education. This is likely why Alicial was so determined to attend the University of Mississippi. a great school, a great [music] price, and usually great people. Ally was attending college with the plans of graduating with a degree in marketing. She was scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2020, much sooner than many of her friends and peers, as she'd been attending summer school on top of her regular college courses. Ally had dreams of getting a job in the fashion industry in some capacity, though [music] she never revealed specifically what type of fashion marketing job that she'd been hoping for, at least not publicly. Ally didn't just attend the University of Mississippi, though. [music] She wasn't just a run-of-the-mill student. She had a fierce passion that few people will ever match. Ally had helped found the Alphafi sorority and was even the president of the school's golf club. If this weren't enough, in her free time, she would also help teach fitness classes in the area as well. I don't know how she managed to find time to do all these things, but with summer school stacked on top of all this, it's pretty clear that Ally was a very busy person. but she always made sure to save time for friends and family. Her mother recalled Alli's dreams of attending the university and said that she didn't only have plans of carving out a great career for herself, but she also dreamed of meeting her future husband at the school. Ally felt confident that she'd be able to find a suitable partner and settle down with an honest man by the time she graduated. In the fall of 2016, Ally believed that she had finally met this man when she ran across Brandon Thesfeld, a student that she fell head over heels for. [music] But unfortunately, these feelings were not mutual. Alli's friends say that they did their best to warn her about Brandon, but she was blinded by his presence. For whatever reason, Ally was drawn to him with a magnetic intensity. She just [music] couldn't keep her mind off of him. But unfortunately, these feelings were far from mutual. But Ally couldn't let him go. Over the course of the next few years, Ally would learn a lot about herself after realizing how low she'd be willing to go [music] to keep Brandon around. Oddly enough, Ally didn't actually meet Brandon Beesfeld while the two were on campus. She actually met him in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2016, but quickly learned that he was a student at the University of Mississippi. For Ally, this likely seemed like the stars were all finally aligning and their relationship was meant to be. But tragically, this simply wasn't true. Now, at the time, Ally certainly didn't know this, but everyone around her knew exactly the type of person that Brandon really was. Brandon was a part of the in crowd. [music] He was popular from the very beginning, at least with other guys his age. As far as women, well, as soon as they actually got to know him, they'd usually go running the other way. But that wasn't true for Ally. She couldn't get enough. According to various friends and acquaintances, [music] Brandon was well, a terrible person. Now, I don't go around throwing insults like this very often, but I'm serious. Brandon was the very definition of a piece of human garbage. All of Alli's friends recall him as being a total tool. All he ever talked about was his father's money and how he could do whatever he wanted because his dad would always bail him out. It didn't matter if what Brandon was doing was illegal or simply immoral. He'd do whatever he wanted all the time, always, no matter who he hurt in the process. One of Alli's friends spoke about Brandon. And while this friend rushed to remain anonymous, she described him [music] as a pig. She said that he would use his family's money to do whatever he wanted and that he'd have six different girls around him at one time sitting back and laughing at them. She ended her remarks about Brandon by describing him as quote super misogynistic. Other friends recalled Brandon in a similar fashion. They said that he was raised as a quote daddy's boy and that he had no regard for women whatsoever. He viewed them as little more than property to be played with. One friend recalled that he would constantly badger every female that he came into contact with in the dorms. He'd hang out with them, get what he wanted out of them, and then move on to the next one. Unfortunately, this seems to have been the case with Ally as well. Ally was deeply infatuated with Brandon. In the early stages of their relationship, Ally was under the impression that the two were exclusive and that they had started dating. But according to Alli's family, she couldn't have been more wrong. Alli's mother recalled Ally coming home from college one day and announcing that she'd met a boy, specifically a boy from Texas. Her mother says that for whatever reason, Ally was always interested in Texas and the people from Texas. So when she met a boy from one of her favorite places, [music] she couldn't have been happier. Ally initially described Brandon as nothing more than a crush. But it soon became clear that they were far more than that. Maddie Norris, one of Alli's closest friends, says that she never even met Brandon. According to Maddie, Brendan always had better things to do than meet Alli's [music] friends and family. Maddie would later describe the relationship between Ally and Brandon [music] as on and off again, but for Ally, Brandon was the only person she cared about. Alli's friends say that she was repeatedly crushed by Brandon. She would constantly make plans with him, then he would never show up. She'd invite friends over to meet him, but he'd disappear just hours before the meetup. She'd scheduled dates or phone calls, but he was never around. This all reached a breaking point in the summer of 2019. By this point, Ally and Brandon had been involved with one another on some level for about 3 years. But then Ally dropped a bombshell on Brandon. She sent him a text message and announced that she might be pregnant. She also sent a photo showing a pregnancy test result that came back as inconclusive. At this point, Ally was a senior in college, planning to graduate in just a few short months in the following spring. She revealed her possible pregnancy to Brandon on the 14th of June at around 10:15 p.m. While Brandon always did his best to dip and run whenever Ally reached out to him, this time was different. He responded almost immediately by saying that she should just take the Plan B pill and move on with her life. He added that he had no plans to keep a child, saying, quote, "I do not want a kid at all." Just minutes later, this was followed by another text that read, "I'm serious. No kid at all. It will ruin my life. I will not help at all." Immediately after these texts, Ally set up a time to meet with Brandon about the supposed pregnancy, but he never showed up. Go figure. She scheduled multiple follow-up meetings as well, but he didn't show up to a single one of them. He would always concoct some sort of excuse and claim he was busy or had other plans or simply forgot. It wouldn't be until July of that year that Brandon would finally get around to meeting with Ally, but he didn't plan on simply meeting up with her. He had much bigger plans and a much darker secret. [music] Ally and Brandon had once again made plans to meet up on the evening of July 19th, 2019. At this point, Ally was expected to have been about 3 months pregnant. But interestingly, police found surveillance footage from that night, showing that she'd been at a bar. She got an Uber after leaving the bar and was seen driving home alone, suggesting that she'd likely been drinking. This took place at 11:52 p.m. Just a couple hours later at 1:28 a.m. Believe it or not, Brandon actually showed up for their planned meeting. He picked up Ally and the two drove down to a fishing camp at Sardis Lake. According to photos that were taken at the scene of the crime, the two had been drinking White Claws and eating junk food throughout their drive to the fishing camp. Mind you, this was taking place while the two were operating under the assumption that Ally was pregnant. And for anyone that might not be aware, white claws are alcoholic, and junk food ain't great for a baby either. The two arrived at the fishing camp at around 2:15 a.m. And according to those who live nearby, around the same time, a series of shots rang out in the night. A woman who was walking her dog reported hearing the shots between 2:15 and 2:30 a.m., pretty much the exact same time that Brandon and Ally would have arrived. By 10:30 a.m. that same morning, a police officer was passing through the area while conducting his routine patrols of the camp. And that's [music] when he came across a crime scene. Based on the crime scene photos and police officer testimony, when he arrived at the camp, he found Ally lying face down on the ground. Nearby, he found her purse, two cans of White Claw, and the affforementioned bag of snacks. There was also a jacket placed on a nearby picnic table. When he approached Ally, it became clear that she had lost her life after being hit by multiple rounds at a somewhat close range. The officer stated that upon closer inspection, Ally had been hit a total of nine times, though 11 shell casings were found nearby, leaving two rounds unaccounted for. The investigators said that in all of his years in the service, he'd never seen someone be hit so many times before. As soon as police confirmed the identity of Ally, they immediately got to work on the case. interviewing her closest friends and family members. In particular, they were interested in the testimony of Alli's friends. After speaking with multiple friends and acquaintances, detectives quickly noticed that there was one name that repeatedly came up in conversation. Brandon Thefeld. Brandon was a difficult person to track down, but police were eventually able to get in touch with him and they asked him to come in for questioning. They didn't reveal that he was a suspect as far as I can tell. They purely explained that they wanted to hear his testimony from the night of the crime. But Brandon treated the police in the same way that he treated all the women in his life, with blatant disrespect. He told the officers on at least three occasions that he would meet them at a specific location at a specific time, but he would never show up. Once he lied on this third occasion, police got much more serious and spoke with a judge and requested to obtain a warrant for his arrest as well as gain access to his cell phone data. The judge granted this request and police began to trace Brandon's movements by using his cell phone. They quickly learned that he wasn't even in the state of Mississippi any longer. He had packed his bags and was heading towards Tennessee without ever notifying them. Needless to say, this wasn't going to fly. So, police tracked him down after issuing a bolo for his truck, an $80,000 Ford F-150 that he'd purchased once again with Daddy's money. [music] About 2 hours after issuing the bolo, Brandon was arrested in Memphis. As soon as police searched Brandon's truck, things got much worse for him. They found a 40 caliber weapon that he had been hiding, a weapon that matched the one used at the scene of the crime. Brandon was immediately extradited back to Mississippi. But believe it or not, things would only get worse from here. [music] When police were doing their best to tie Brandon to the scene of the crime, [music] they requested access to Alli's phone records. While they obviously found the weapon that was used in the crime, they didn't have any sort of motive. [music] And without a motive, it would be a bit more difficult for a jury to find Brandon guilty. Well, it wouldn't take long for them to uncover a mountain of evidence that simply couldn't be ignored. When they began looking through Alli's Apple Watch and iPhone, they were able to use her location data, her fitness data, and her text messages to paint a remarkably [music] clear picture of when the crime took place, how it played out, and what role Brandon had played in things. They were able to confirm via Apple iMessage that Brandon was the last person to have seen Ally on the night that she disappeared. Not only this, but they were able to match their location data to the exact same location at the exact same time. But then came the most damning evidence of all. When looking at the contents of Alli's text messages, they learned that for 3 months, Ally had been leading Brandon to believe that she was [music] pregnant and that the baby was his. Brandon, naturally terrified, refused to do the right thing and just meet up with Ally to talk it over and figure out what role she wanted him to play in all of this. Brandon [music] pretty clearly didn't want a child, but Allowi continued to push him to talk about the possibilities. In the end, Brandon made a rash decision that would change the history of his community forever. Police were able to prove that Brandon, terrified of quote, ruining his life, decided to claim Alli's [music] life and the life of her unborn baby. Or did he? Well, yes, he did claim the life of Ally. But a shocking revelation was announced when an autopsy was conducted on Alli's body. She wasn't pregnant, nor was there any indication that she had been at any point in the recent past. So, what was with this strange pregnancy test that she showed to Brandon? Well, who even knows? There are a million reasons why a pregnancy test could come back inconclusive, but it seems that Ally was riding this train for as long as she possibly could. Maybe just hoping to get a meeting with Brandon. But here's the thing. We have no way of knowing if Ally knew that she wasn't pregnant. We have no way of knowing if she really was just stringing him along. But what I find really odd is that for the 3 months that she believed she might have been pregnant, she never bothered taking a follow-up pregnancy test to confirm one way or the other. But the most crucial piece of evidence in my book that proves that she likely knew that she wasn't pregnant was her attendance at the bar that night and [music] the white claws that were found at the scene of the crime. Ally was a smart girl. She almost certainly knew that if she was pregnant, then she shouldn't be drinking. To me, this seems to allude to the idea that Ally may have been so deeply in love with Brandon that she was willing to do almost anything just to get a few moments alone with him and try to hash things out. But Brandon was just too much of a coward to face the possible consequences of his actions and just sit down and have a talk with her. And the thing that bothers me most is [music] that if Brandon had half a brain, he could have pieced all this together as well. but instead he decided to put an end not only to their relationship but to an entire life. Ally had been working so hard to get her degree so that she could begin her dream career. She tried so hard to love someone and begin a life with someone, but unfortunately it was someone who just couldn't love her back. Ally had everything going for her, but this moronic monster stole all of that and more. After Brandon's arrest, police came across a handwritten note in which Brandon accepted [music] responsibility for his actions. The note was addressed to his parents and he explained that he was sorry for what he had done and sorry for the pain that he had caused them. He explained that [music] he'd been having dark thoughts for quite some time, years leading up to the crime. He said that he couldn't explain where these thoughts came from, but that he'd finally acted on them and deeply regretted his actions. At the end of it all, Brandon was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole [music] once he turns 65. It would seem that at long last, Brandon had finally committed a crime that his dad couldn't bail him out of. For Lauren Phelps, life had really just begun when she married the love of her life, Matthew Phelps, in 2016. The two [music] were deeply involved in their local Baptist church with Lauren being a Sunday school teacher and Matthew being a church minister. But in the fall of 2017, their lives would forever be changed. In the middle of the night, a crime of unspeakable proportions took place in the Phelps household. A crime that Lauren unfortunately wouldn't survive. When Matthew phoned 911 to report the crime to investigators, the statements he gave were haunting, confusing, and unlike anything investigators would have expected. Unfortunately, this is one of those cases where we don't have a lot of backstory. I'm not sure if the family of Lauren and Matthew wanted to maintain their privacy after the crime or if it's simply that reporters didn't have too many interviews with the family, but the early lives of both Lauren and Matthew are largely a mystery. Oddly enough, most of the information I have been able to find about the couple comes from Instagram of all places. I was able to find out that Lauren was involved with a company known as Censey. Censey is a service pretty similar to Avon and countless other programs where you can sign up on their website to sell products in exchange for a small commission. Cincy in particular deals in fragrances such as wax warmers and candles. And they're not a sponsor, by the way. The best I can tell, Cincy seems like it may just be another pyramid scheme, but I don't know enough about the company to say that for sure. It's just the impression that they give. But anyway, Lauren teamed up with Cincy sometime in 2015 or 2016, and it seems as though she was doing quite well. She'd received a few awards during her time working for the company, and everything seemed to be working out great for her. As far as I can tell, the work that Lauren was able to do with Censey allowed her to maintain a stay-at-home lifestyle while her boyfriend and soon to be husband was attending schooling and training to become a pastor at the couple's Baptist church. It appears as though Lauren met Matthew sometime in mid 2014. The first mention of Matthew on Lauren social media was in the fall of that year, and the two seemed to have hit it off immediately, officially becoming a couple in November of 2014. Matthew and Lauren seemed to have been great for one another, and all of Lauren's family members agree, saying that the two seemed destined to be together, with Matthew being a very honest, cleancut guy. It seemed that for Lauren, the stars were finally aligning and she'd found the one that she'd been looking for for all this time. Matthew allowed Lauren to be herself, and he loved her for it. [music] We don't know if Lauren had any ambitions of college or a long-term career path, but we know that once she met Matthew, her life began to change for the better. She became even more deeply involved with her local church. And when Matthew announced that he wanted to begin studying to become a pastor, Lauren was more than happy to support him. After dating for just under 2 years, the two got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2016, and they would get married later on that year. According to social media, the two were beyond happy together. In fact, their lives [music] seem to be perfect. But you always have to remember social media is only a slight glimpse into the lives that people are actually living. As it would turn out, no sooner than their marriage had begun, it had begun to fall apart. According to Lauren's family, despite how happy Lauren may have seemed, she was miserable. And most of this misery stemmed from her new husband, Matthew. As it would turn out, Matthew [music] wasn't at all the man that he claimed to be. You would never guess it, but Lauren and Matthew were walking on very thin ice from the moment they got married. I'm sure most of us already know that when you marry someone, typically you combine finances. I know there are certain couples out there that don't do this, but more often than not, couples share everything with one another, including their money. This is where things begin to cause trouble for the Phelps household, though. See, when they were single, everything was working out great between Matthew and Lauren. After all, they each had control over their own lives, and they were able to share only what they felt comfortable sharing with one another. But now that they were married, they more or less felt obligated to share every little detail with one another. And [music] that's when Lauren began to make a few discoveries about Matthew that she never would have expected. After living together for a few short months, Lauren began to realize that Matthew had a serious problem with money. We don't know for sure just how deep the rabbit hole really goes, but according to Lauren's family and friends, Matthew was spending like he was a member of Congress. But in reality, [music] his income was virtually nothing. At least it was nothing compared to the amount that he was spending. It's pretty safe to assume that Matthew was likely in a lot of debt, but I haven't been able to confirm this for certain, so don't [music] take that as fact. But according to Lauren's peers, Matthew was living a lifestyle that simply wasn't sustainable, no matter how you looked at it. This naturally caused serious problems in the couple's relationship, and Lauren was at wit's end no sooner than their marriage had begun. Lauren was known for being a very resourceful, honest, and caring person about how she lived her life. Matthew, on the other hand, was a bit more rambunctious and careless. Lauren had spoken with him time and time again about the sheer amount of money that he was spending. And Matthew seems to have made every attempt to cut down on his spending, but he just couldn't shake the habit. After all, for some people, buying things can be an addiction, even a way to hide their pain and discomfort in various aspects of their lives. And this certainly seems to have been true for Matthew. Matthew was unhappy with his life. On the surface, he had everything. A beautiful [music] wife, a fulfilling job, a nice car, everything most people would ever aspire to have. But that just wasn't enough for him. Lauren grew so concerned about Matthew's spending habits that she began limiting access that he had to their bank accounts. But even this didn't seem to work as he'd always find ways around Lauren's safeguards. This led to one argument after another and before they knew it, both Lauren and Matthew were at wits end with one another. Lauren seems to have been set on working out whatever flaws the couple had, but she can only take so much. In mid 2017, Lauren had been speaking with a few of her friends about Matthew, and she began to fear that their relationship wasn't going [music] to work out. No matter what she did, she felt like Matthew wasn't willing to cut back on his spending. [music] And if the couple were ever going to start a family together, big changes would need to be made. But Matthew wasn't willing to make these changes. To top this off, Lorie had begun to suspect that Matthew was being unfaithful, but she couldn't prove anything just yet. At this point, it was more of just a gut feeling than anything else. Lauren did her best to see past Matthew's flaws, but they were becoming too large to ignore, and it was causing their lives to spiral out of control. While Lauren was obsessed with things like her cute outfits, Star Wars, dogs, and children, Matthew's priorities were elsewhere. See, [music] Matthew wasn't the man that he portrayed himself to be. Matthew had a dark side. Contrary to Lauren's more light-hearted interests and hobbies, Matthew seemed to have had an affinity for horror movies and the Macob, particularly the movie American Psycho. If you've never seen the movie, a quick rundown is that the main character, Patrick Baitman, is an investment banker who lives a double life as a serial killer. According to Matthew's friends, he was truly obsessed with the film to a concerning degree. He even dressed up as some of the characters from the film on holidays from time to time. But things got much darker and much more concerning when Matthew was casually talking with one of his friends over drinks one day. This friend says that seemingly unprovoked, Matthew brought up serial killers. But not only this, he confessed that he often wondered what it would be like to claim someone's life. Now, I'm sure this is a thought that's crossed all of our minds at some point in our lives, but Matthew seemed strangely curious. This wasn't just a passing thought for him. The friend said that he could tell there was a strange energy that encompassed Matthew as he pondered the thought of this. It wasn't too long after this that tragedy struck. It was September 1st, 2017. The Phelps couple were happily asleep in their apartment, and it was by all means a night like any other. The two had turned in for the evening and went to bed as they always did. But at some point in the middle of the night, Matthew was haunted by twisted dreams that he couldn't seem to shake off. Matthew had actually revealed that he struggled to sleep most nights. This led him to go to various means to try to get some rest, oftentimes relying on over-the-counter medications to get to sleep, though there are some rumors that he may have been involved in much harder substances as well. On this particular night, Matthew had taken a high dose of cough medicine as he'd heard from a friend that it was the easiest way to turn in for the night. But one of the side effects of this medicine is that it can cause some rather wild dreams. And Matthew was experiencing this firsthand. He never revealed specifically what these crazy dreams were about, but they were so disturbing that he eventually got out of bed to clear his mind for a bit trying [music] to calm down. As he crept out of bed, he stumbled over to the bedroom doorway and turned on the light. But when he turned to face the room, he couldn't believe his eyes. At first, he thought he was still dreaming. But he quickly realized this was no dream. This was real life. When he turned around, Matthew found Lauren lying on the floor. The entire bedroom covered in red stains. [music] On the bed, he noticed a knife. And when he looked down at his clothing, he noticed he was covered in red from head to toe. Unsure of what to do, Matthew did the only sensible thing and called the police. After dialing 911, Matthew made a truly disturbing revelation to the dispatcher. As he spoke with the 911 operator, he explained that he had a terrible dream, but when he turned the lights on, he found his wife on the floor. He followed this by saying, "I think I killed M." And then he trailed off. The dispatcher began desperately asking how something like this could have happened, but all Matthew could do was describe the scene of the crime. He was very clearly in shock by what had taken place. All he was able to explain was that he had taken a large amount of cough syrup, then woke up to the scene of a crime. As the call came to an end, Matthew began sobbing, saying that his wife didn't deserve this. But Matthew's shock wouldn't last for very long. As investigators later made their way to the scene of the crime to collect whatever evidence they could, they realized a particular aspect of the crime scene didn't make any sense. When they arrived to speak with Matthew, they realized that he was strangely clean. Even though he had told the dispatcher he was covered in red stains, they found he was in pretty good shape for someone who had just woken up to a crime scene. It didn't take detectives long at all to prove that Matthew had in fact cleaned up long before the 911 call. Now, I don't know about you, but if I awoke to find my wife on the floor in a bedroom covered from floor to ceiling and evidence, I don't think taking a shower would be the first thing on my mind. And police picked up on this clue immediately. All throughout his interrogation and interviews with police, Matthew maintained his story. [music] Each time he was asked, he'd say the same thing. He took a much larger dose of cough medicine than he should have, and then he went to bed and woke up to the scene of a crime. Police didn't have any evidence to prove otherwise, outside of the strange fact that he had cleaned up before calling 911, but this isn't a crime by any means. It's just weird. But while Matthew had initially maintained his innocence during the investigation, he would soon make a bizarre confession that took everyone by surprise. At this point, investigators were unsure of what to believe. The evidence told a clear story of what had taken place that evening, but the account that Matthew had given made an equal amount of sense, at least to a certain point. Matthew claimed he was under the influence of cough syrup when the crime occurred. And this appeared to have been true. But the manufacturer of the cough syrup in question explained that in their countless years of research, they found zero evidence that could link the medication to violence. Police were highly suspicious, but they weren't able to prove much of anything. at least not yet. As his trial was underway, Matthew was speaking with the judge who would be overseeing his case. As he spoke with the judge, Matthew's demeanor began to change. Up to this point, Matthew had shown no signs of remorse. In fact, when investigators spoke with him at the scene of the crime, they noted that he showed no significant signs of emotion, claiming he didn't even shed real tears. But as he spoke with the judge, Matthew underwent a major shift and actually admitted to the crime. [music] He told his side of the story and he opened up about the possibility of being responsible for the crime. Then just a few brief moments later, he more or less confessed the cough syrup probably had nothing to do with his actions that evening. The judge asked, "Are you admitting guilt?" And Matthew agreed. Some prosecutors believe Matthew only did this as a way to avoid the death penalty, while others believe he really was beginning to show signs of remorse. It's difficult to say one way or the other, if I'm being honest, but this is nowhere near the end of the story and things would only get worse for Matthew from here. As the case was still undergoing investigation and the trial was underway, detectives managed to track down multiple social media accounts that Matthew owned. He had two Instagram accounts, one titled Marty Radical and another titled Uncanny Maddie. On his Marty Radical page, Matthew almost exclusively posted screenshots and quotes from the film American Psycho. This account has since been set to private, so I can't confirm any of the specific posts that Matthew made, but the profile image from this account is still visible, and it's an image of Christian Bale from the film covered in red spatter. So, it's pretty safe to say that the allegations there are most likely true. As for Matthew's other account, well, let's just say that his bio didn't age well. The only part of this page that is still visible is the message in his bio that reads, "I'm just a pitiful anonymous, drifting into the abstract. I can't seem to tell if I'm dreaming anymore." Police have made a few bold suggestions, claiming that Matthew was so fascinated with American Psycho and so frustrated with his wife for trying to control their finances and threatening divorce that he snapped. In a fit of rage, they claimed that he enacted one of his favorite scenes from American Psycho, inflicting more than 120 individual wounds on his wife, then taking the time to clean himself up before ever calling the police. While Matthew was never admitted directly to all of these allegations, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to assume that investigators are probably correct in these assumptions. In the aftermath of the crime, Lauren's family has spoken out about the case, and Lauren's father has expressed regret over the last few weeks of Lauren's life. He mentioned that just a few weeks before his daughter lost her life, he noticed that her demeanor had changed. She seemed paranoid, afraid, and worried about something. He regrets that he didn't question her further about this, and he believes that this may allude to Matthew's crime having been premeditated, and Lauren may have felt that something bad was about to happen. To make matters even worse, Lauren also learned that Matthew had been cheating on her. Lauren's sister says that she spoke with Lauren just hours before the crime unfolded, and she discovered that Lauren and Matthew had been arguing about Matthew's alleged affair after Lauren had witnessed her husband sneaking out of the house to be with another woman. Lauren's sister believes that the two were most likely revisiting this argument when Matthew lost his temper and began attacking Lauren, but this has never been proven, though it would certainly make sense. We may never know for sure, but Lauren's family has been beyond heartbroken by the entire situation, though I'm sure that really goes without saying at this point. Lauren's mother describes Matthew as a master manipulator, also believing the crime was premeditated for months before it took place. Though in all honesty, I've found no reason to believe that this is true. According to Lauren's mother, police allegedly told her that most of Lauren's wounds had also come from behind, and they have reason to believe that he had knocked her to the ground, sat on top of her, and inflicted most of the wounds while she was defenseless against him. In response, Lauren's father said, "I think about it every day, what I did wrong, what I missed. Till this day, I just regret not knowing or keeping my eyes open and watching. I took everything as it was. When asked about the possibility of forgiving Matthew one day, Lauren's father replied, "No, I'll take it to my grave and I'll still hate him." In the end, Matthew was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. Now, I can already tell that a few select people watching this video are going to run to the comments and start ranting about how this Christian man killed his wife. Let me just tell you, Matthew was not a Christian man. Matthew was a fraud. A joke even. In fact, one of his social media accounts didn't even describe himself as being a pastor or even a pastor in training. It described him as an entrepreneur. Christianity is about living up to the example that Christ set for his people, helping those who are less fortunate, loving our neighbors, and being in the world but not of the world, and following the very simple commands that God has given to his followers. Matthew was none of those things. Matthew was a hateful man who turned his back on religion a long time ago. He is not representative of any Christian I've ever met. And it pains me to have even mentioned him in the context of being a minister of God's word. He's nothing but a wolf in a sheep's den. And Matthew got exactly what he deserved. But in the real world of Christianity, as painful as it may be to hear at times, there's always a possibility of redemption. And I certainly hope that before his life is over, Matthew is able to truly turn his life around [music] and realize the pain and the grief that he's inflicted on so many innocent people and maybe even turn himself around before it's [music] too late. The search for Lisa Holm was the largest missing person search in the history of Scda, if not Sweden. The 17-year-old girl had gone missing after getting done with her shift at Cafe 40. Sweden was once known for its non-existent crime rate, but with Lisa's disappearance, things were about to change. What happened to Lisa was beyond horrific. [music] Just 5 days after Lisa vanished, her body would be found and the media quickly dubbed her case the Milking Room Murder for reasons that, well, you'll have to hear to believe. Lisa Holm was born in Skoa, England. Lisa had always been fond of traveling and she wanted to study abroad in Australia and she was defined as a kind, lively, positive and loving person. She was very helpful towards other people and she loved the thought of being independent. This is why when Lisa was just a teenager, she started working various part-time jobs to earn some money. A few weeks before the events of today's case, Lisa had gotten a job at a cafe in Bloomberg. The cafe was about 40 minutes away from her home, and one of her parents took Lisa to and from work each day. Since this was the first time Lisa was working so far away from home, her parents wanted to be the ones to drop her off and pick [music] her up for their own peace of mind. But on June 7th of 2015, it had been just a few weeks since Lisa had started working at the cafe, and she was confident she could now go to work on her own. But tragically, the very first day that Lisa gained her independence would be her last. Lisa's parents had gotten her a moped for traveling to and from work. Even though her parents were a bit apprehensive about letting her go to work on her own, they knew how important it was for Lisa to experience this on her own. So on June 7th of 2015, Lisa grabbed her stuff, hopped into her moped, and headed to the cafe without any problem. [music] The cafe was busy. People were going in and out, and time flew by. Before Lisa knew it, the clock struck 6:00 p.m., and it was time to wrap everything up, and Lisa sent a text to her dad a little before 6:30 saying she'd be home soon. Back in Skovda, Lisa's parents were happy and relieved that their daughter had finally gotten free from work and she was on her way back. They were grateful that things had gone by uneventfully, but that wouldn't be the case for long. Sometime later, Lisa's dad received a call from Lisa. And when he picked it up, there was something weird on the other end of the line. Lisa's dad kept calling her name, but he heard other people in the background and some disruption like car doors opening and slamming shut before the call got disconnected. This incident put Lisa's parents on edge, but they chocked it up to just being a pocket dial. Maybe Lisa was on her way and her phone accidentally pressed some buttons and called her parents. So, they waited for Lisa to come home. But 40 minutes went by, then an hour, and then 2 hours, and Lisa still wasn't home. This was very unsettling for Lisa's family. The ride from Blumbberg to Scda should have taken around 40 minutes, maybe 50 if Lisa was running late, but it had now been close to 3 hours and Lisa hadn't made it back home. So, what was going on? Lisa's family constantly called her while waiting on pens and needles. They were sure that Lisa had gotten into an accident or something. So, after waiting longer than necessary, Lisa's dad got into his car and made the drive to Blowberg. He was driving slowly, hoping to catch Lisa on the road, making her way back home. But as he got closer and closer to his destination, well, the more fearful he became. There was no sign of Lisa on the way. When Lisa's dad reached the cafe, he looked around for her, and the first thing he saw was Lisa's moped. He was instantly relieved. He immediately thought that Lisa had stayed back with some friends for a little hangout or something. But as he got closer to the moped, he noticed something alarming. Lisa's helmet was still hanging on the side and her keys were in the ignition. Why would Lisa leave her keys and moped unattended like this unless the moped had been abandoned? Her dad looked around for a bit more, and when he couldn't find Lisa anywhere, he called the police at around 10 p.m. and reported 17-year-old Lisa Holm, missing. While the police were on the way, Lisa's mom called the cafe owner, who also reached the place in no time, and started searching for the young employee. The cafe owner stated that her employees were off the clock at 6:00 p.m. and now it was almost 4 hours later and Lisa was nowhere to be found and her moped was seemingly abandoned. It wasn't like the moped wasn't working or had broken down. It was working like a welloiled machine. And it made no sense in anyone's mind why Lisa would voluntarily abandon her vehicle and go somewhere else. When the police arrived, they immediately came to the conclusion that Lisa was probably abducted, which was a rarity in Sweden. But they had to go through all the possibilities in this young girl's disappearance. The cafe where Lisa worked was located in a small village and it was secluded, but it wasn't a hot spot for crime, per se. It was peaceful and quiet. Well, the police started their search in nearby areas, and search dogs aided in that process. They went from door to door asking if anyone had seen Lisa. And they even checked the neighboring areas that might stand out or look suspicious in some way. They also asked people if they'd seen or heard anything strange. But at this point, there was nothing. Lisa had just vanished into thin air and no one could find her. As it was getting really late by now, almost 11 p.m. at this point, the police decided to pause the search till the next morning. In the meantime, Lisa's friends and loved ones spread the word about her disappearance on social media in hopes of jogging people's memories and helping them figure out what happened to Lisa. The next morning, the police search resumed, and this time, a man came forward with something. He worked at a barn right across from the cafe, and he noticed a discarded motorcycle glove on the ground of one of the barn rooms. The man immediately turned the glove into the police and the investigators asked Lisa's parents to identify this glove as Lisa's. And the answer came as an unsettling revelation. The discarded glove indeed belonged to the now missing Lisa. But why was her glove all the way at this barn? What was Lisa doing there? Well, the police believed that she didn't go there voluntarily, and it was possible she may have been taken there against her will, further cementing that abduction theory. The search for Lisa was huge. It was the largest missing person search conducted by volunteers in the history of Sweden with hundreds of volunteers showing up every day looking in various places searching for [music] Lisa. There were even air searches and everyone was determined to find her. Soon enough, the police as well as the volunteers did start to find some alarming clues. See, the police searched a side road that was near the cafe. And within minutes, they were able to find some receipts, a smashed phone screen, and a phone case, among other things. Deeper searches of this roadside led the police to find more parts of that broken phone. Lisa's parents recognized the phone, or parts of it, and the cover as Lisa's. Things were not looking good. Lisa had gone missing and now her [music] phone was broken to pieces and her belongings were scattered on the side of the road near the cafe. Over the next few days, Lisa's [music] ID, her moped license, and her house keys were all found dumped on the side of the road covered in overgrown grass. The same day, a volunteer, who was actually Lisa's dad's friend, had a strange feeling about the barn across the street. As he approached closer to the barn, he noticed something was a mess. The police tape had been ripped off. This was really unsettling, but against his nerves, the man decided to go into the barn, and within minutes, he was able to find a small earring on the floor. [music] When this earring was showed to the police, it was sadly Lisa's. And when they searched around the barn, they noticed soiled walls, which was a really bizarre sight. A sample of the waste was collected because the investigators had a strong inkling that this would lead to some answers. And it turned out it did. Missing People, a local Swedish organization, also joined the search for Lisa, and they searched a barn and other buildings near the cafe. When they reached the place near the barn, they were stopped by two people in a car who told the volunteers that police had already searched that area. Now, this interaction left the workers of missing people uneasy. Why would some random people try to stop them from searching a specific area for a missing girl? Regardless, after the car sped off into the distance, the workers resumed their search and they found some things. They found a pink motorcycle jacket as well as headphones hidden under some branches. The police were called and sure enough, the jacket and headphones belonged to Lisa. The property was soon littered with police and forensic teams. And that was when they saw something else in the distance. It was a shed. It was really small and it was used as a changing room for the barn workers. It also looked like someone had been in the shed recently. See, the shed was surrounded by overgrown grass, but the grass leading up to the door looked like it had just been walked on. So, the police decided to look into the workshed, too. But as soon as they stepped into the shed, they were hit with a disturbing and rancid odor. It was a nightmare inside. They didn't need any more confirmation that something bad had happened there. When the detectives looked around, their eyes went to a cluster of clothing lockers against one of the walls. Most of them were empty and closed, while one was filled to the brim and wide open. The police checked all of the lockers one by one. But as they reached the stuffed locker, they removed the clothing and miscellaneous items inside, and what they saw literally made them jump out of their skin. [music] And they were police officers. They've seen much worse, but this was horrific. Stuffed inside the narrow and tiny locker space was the body of 17-year-old Lisa Hall. She was partially clothed and someone used a rope to end her life. The search for Lisa ended in the worst possible way because she had been attacked so brutally by an asalent and now she was gone. Her family was immediately notified of the discovery. And to say that they were absolutely shocked was an understatement. Her parents were beside themselves. For the first time, Lisa wanted to go to the cafe on her own and prove to her parents nothing bad would happen. But the literal opposite happened and in a quiet, safe, and cozy town, no less. Can you imagine how Lisa's parents must have felt? The sheer number of whatifs going through their minds? What if they persuaded Lisa to let them take her to work? What if they just picked her up despite her saying otherwise? And that phone call that Lisa's dad got, it was all so haunting and heartbreaking. Now that Lisa's body had been found, the police had to catch the perpetrator. Luckily, the police were able to get DNA samples from Lisa's body as well as inside of the shed, and everything was sent for testing. In the meantime, the police wanted to look into the two men who crossed paths with volunteers from missing people at the barn. The ones who said that that area had already been searched by the police. Well, after a bit of poking and proddding, the police managed to uncover who these people were. They were Lithuanian natives, 35-year-old Narius and his brother. They actually didn't even speak Swedish. They communicated in English, which was the same language in which the men communicated with the volunteers. Interestingly enough, the two brothers worked in the same barn that was right across the road from the cafe where Lisa worked. On top of that, the side road where Lisa's belongings were found trashed was the same road that led to the brother's house. In the house, the two brothers lived with Narius's wife, and they actually talked to the police on the day that Lisa went missing. The fact they spoke English stood out to the police. Another woman came forward and said that a man who didn't speak Swedish approached her in a car and asked for directions in English. He wanted the woman to sit inside the car for a minute so that she could enter the location into his GPS, but the woman obviously didn't get into his car and she just walked away. All of these instances stood out to the police, so they wanted to have a quick chat with these people. When they talked to Narius and his wife, they were quick to come to their defense. Narius said that he was at home the same time Lisa went missing and his wife, his only real alibi, was in the kitchen prepping dinner. Meanwhile, his younger brother, was at home on his computer. The police obviously didn't buy this story because they thought that they were simply covering for each other and there was no way to tell whether their stories were even true or not. Regardless, the police took DNA samples from all three people. But since they didn't have any rocksolid evidence against them, they were free to go. Well, it wasn't for long because the DNA results from the workshed came in and they were a match to someone. See, there were many stains on the walls where Lisa's body was found. [music] And to everyone's disgust, it was male DNA. But that's not even the worst part. [music] See, the shed had a small space with a window that overlooked the cafe release worked. And most of the male DNA was found on that wall near that window. I don't think I need to go into detail about what this suggests, but the DNA found in the workshed matched that of Narius. So, from the looks of it, Narius was a pervert and kind of a peeping tom. He basically spied on female employees, including Lisa, from the window of the shed across from the cafe. And remember those traces of human waste found in the barn? Well, that was also Narius's doing. It was theorized by the police as well as crime scene experts that the perpetrator probably underwent a rush of adrenaline during or after committing the crime and had no control over his bodily functions and he soiled himself. The nail in the coffin was found in another adjoining room in the bar. It was used as a milking room for cows. And inside, they found the same rope that was used to murder Lisa, as well as Lisa and Narius's DNA all over the room and on the pipe to which the rope had previously been tied. When Narius's room was searched following the discovery of all this incriminating evidence, detectives found strands of blonde hair that matched Lisa's. Narius had been caught, but he and his wife were still holding on tightly to their story. They stressed that someone was trying to frame Narius and he was not involved in whatever happened to Lisa whatsoever. That was until the police talked to Narius's younger brother and he became Narius's eventual downfall. See, the younger brother was unable to keep up lying to the police and he came forward and said that in reality, Narius was not home when Lisa went missing. And according to his wife and initially even his younger brother, Narius was at home between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the evening of June 7th of 2015. And he only went out after 8:00 p.m. to go to a local gas station to get some food. Well, this time Nerius's younger brother had a completely different story. He said that Narius basically forced his brother to tell everyone that he was home between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. And when he asked where Narius truly was, his brother began to unfold everything. He said that Nerius had gone missing for most of the evening. And he actually came back home at around 7:30 or close to 8:00 p.m. that night. His appearance was shaggy. His clothes were dirty as if he'd taken a roll in the dirt. And he immediately took off his clothes and put them in the washing machine, which was unusual behavior because Narius never washed any of his clothes immediately. They usually just went in the hamper. To make matters worse, when the police checked Narius's electronics, they found something very disturbing. Narius frequented adult websites and watched really questionable adult videos which bordered on being illegal. Even though there was no definitive evidence of Narius forcing himself on Lisa during the attack, it's speculated that he got a kick out of seeing people suffer and be in pain. And so following these findings, Narius was arrested for Lisa's murder and was awaiting trial. >> [music] >> What was so astounding was that Narius's wife stood by him the entire time of his trial. She never once believed her husband to be the perpetrator. And the couple even went as far as blaming the younger brother, saying he was the one who murdered Lisa and somehow planted Narius's DNA all over the place. Well, no one was convinced because the only person who didn't have an alibi was Narius himself. The prosecution presented their [music] arguments and stated that Narius had been eyeing the cafe for a long time by the barn window, spying on unsuspecting young women. On June 7th, it's believed that Narius lured Lisa into his car as she was leaving work under the pretense of asking for directions. Lisa somehow got into Narius's car, and that was when she was overpowered. Narius then drove to the barn where he ultimately ended Lisa's life in the milking room and soiled himself from the twisted excitement of it all. It's believed that he then loaded Lisa's body into his car and then drove to the workshed, [music] getting rid of Lisa's belongings on the dirt road in the process. He then stuffed Lisa's body into one of the lockers, covered it with clothes, and walked out of the workshed all within an hour, which is terrifying to think about. Well, five months following Lisa's murder on November 17th of 2015, the verdict was finally given. Narius was sentenced to life in prison in Sweden. He was placed in a highsecurity prison, but he later appealed to be transferred to Lithuania in hopes of reducing his sentence there. He was ultimately transferred to his native country in 2017 and even managed to get a lower sentence, as low as 15 years. But this happiness was short-lived because his original conviction was reinstated the same year and he was going to stay behind bars in Lithuania for the rest of his life. Lisa's funeral was held on July 7th of 2015, approximately a month after her murder and she was laid to rest in Seder's church outside of Scofa. The home family endured a tremendous loss and they hoped and prayed that their daughter's murderer never gets any mercy. But one more thing would happen and it would lead to a very unsatisfactory end to this case. I hate that we're still talking about Narius who doesn't deserve any more attention, but it was reported that he was picked on and bullied in prison to the point that he was beaten black and blue. This harassment followed Narius all the way to Lithuania, too. And I mean, it's definitely kind of a karmic payback. But on April 3rd of 2022, things took a vicious turn when Narius was found with a fatal wound to his neck while on a walk in prison. He didn't survive and he passed away on the way to the hospital. It is devastating that Lisa's family had a taste of justice, but just 7 years into that sentence, they'd be left with no more satisfaction at the fact that their daughter's killer was suffering behind bars because [music] now he was killed by a fellow inmate. Lisa's family, they're just heartbroken. Not only that their daughter's killer got off so easy, [music] but that any of this happened in the first place for the home family. There really wasn't any justice, there wasn't any reprieve, there wasn't any silver lining. They were just met with hurt on top of hurt. But if there is any justice to be had, they can rest easy knowing that Lisa's killer, he may have gotten away with it in this life, but his punishment won't be so light in the next. Trust is a very complex virtue. It's one of the most precious gifts you can offer someone, your trust. But what happens when that gift is broken? And worse yet, by the very person you feel the safest being around? Well, 17-year-old Bernardet Walker confided in someone very close to her about a horrendous occurrence. But instead of supporting her, this person betrayed her. But that's just the tip of the iceberg because the very next day on July 18th of 2020, Bernardet just vanished. The case of Bernardet Walker is not only frightening, but also makes you question who you can really trust because Bernardet asked her close family for help and they offered none and instead they turned their backs on her. Bernardet Walker was born on December 13th of [music] 2002 and today's case takes place in Peterborough, Cambridge in England. Bernardet's mother, Sarah Louise, at some point after Bernardet was born, decided to part ways with her biological father, but we don't really know anything [music] about what happened between the two of them. Bernardet was known to her family and friends as Bee. And while she was a bit shy around new people within her circle, she was described as a fun-loving, bubbly, and all-around fun person to be with. Bee was fond of art, particularly photography. [music] Her camera was with her everywhere she went. And this was why after graduating high school, be enrolled in Peterborough College where she was studying photography. Bee also had big dreams of moving out of her hometown of Peterborough and settling in the United States after school. Like any other teenager, she also loved social media. Because of her shy and introverted nature, she preferred to interact with her friends online. Be also loved to knit, and this was something that she learned from her grandmother. The two shared a very close bond and Bee was overall very close with her family. Every single person who knew Bee saw her as a gentle, kind, and expressive person who just wanted to chase her dreams. When Bee was just a toddler, her mom Sarah met a man named Scott Walker. Sarah and Scott were actually neighbors. She moved next door to him in 2006 with five kids while being heavily pregnant with her sixth child. That's a lot of kids. So, you can imagine the chaos that must have been Bee's home life. Her mother Sarah was also raising all of these kids alone. See, after things didn't work out between Sarah and Bee's biological father, she bounced around from one relationship to another and never really found anyone that she was willing to settle down with. This led to Sarah's six children each having different fathers. The thing is, Scott, Sarah's new neighbor, was married at the time that be, Sarah, and the kids moved in next door. Scott and his wife Jill actually met in August of 2004 when she was a single mother of two teenage boys. So they've been together for about 2 years at this point. Initially Jill thought that Scott was a very loving and thoughtful man and the relationship moved fast. In less than 2 months Scott moved in with Jill and her sons. But this was when Jill noticed a complete and alarming shift in Scott's personality. He became obsessive, controlling, and always wanted to know whether Jill was cheating on him with another man or not. According to Jill, this all came out of nowhere and was completely unexpected. Scott was very manipulative. Even though Jill claimed he never physically abused her, during a heated argument, he made some very frightening threats. And let's be honest, sometimes a voice can be a lot more damaging than a fist. All of this made Jill feel very hopeless. She quickly became a victim of Scott's cruel abuse. But she couldn't fathom the thought of leaving him. In fact, they stayed together for 10 months after which Scott asked Jill to marry him, which was as shocking to Jill as it probably was for you to hear. But sadly, because Jill was trapped and driven into a corner of abuse by Scott, she felt she had no choice but to say yes. Now, I don't know if Jill thought that maybe getting married might make things better or if she truly was just being ruled by fear, but this was so heartbreaking to find out. The couple finally married in 2005, and things only worsened from that point on. Scott was very demanding and selfish, and his behavior was completely inexcusable. It became clear to Jill very early on in their marriage that Scott didn't have any respect for her whatsoever, only demands. This went on for some time until Scott set his sights on his new neighbor, Sarah Louise. Jill would constantly witness her husband flirting with Sarah. But Jill wasn't heartbroken or tormented over Scott's infidelity. Jill, as morbid as it may sound, wanted Sarah to have Scott so that [laughter] she could free herself from the clutches of his abusive and emotionally manipulative personality. Seeing him buttering up Sarah, it brought her immense joy. Jill saw this as a way out and she with the help of a friend packed her bags and left Scott and even served him with a protective order that forbade him from being nearer. Well, Scott didn't mind Jill's departure one bit as he quickly dove head first into a whirlwind of a relationship with Sarah. Bee was still a toddler at this point and she looked up to Scott and even called him dad, which is so heartbreaking knowing what's going to happen later on. Even though Sarah and Scott weren't legally married, Sarah changed her and all of her children's last names to Walker. This makes it so clear just how serious Sarah was about this new relationship. Sarah and Scott also went on to have four children of their own. And if you're not great at math, that's 10 kids living under one roof in a house with only five bedrooms. It's safe to say that there were a lot of people and a lot of opinions in this hall. Sarah worked in geriatrics whereas Scott would jump from one odd job to another. Although one thing is for sure, Scott loved to brag on social media. He was always building himself up on social media, making himself to be something he's not. But things were far from perfect inside the Walker home. And in fact, they were toxic to the max. One of Bee's brothers, Anthony, came out and claimed that Scott was physically and verbally abusive to everyone in the family. Anthony also went on to say that Scott was unfaithful to Sarah and that he'd had multiple affairs with a variety of women. Anthony also disclosed another disturbing detail about Scott. He had set up cameras in every room of the house, including the family bathroom. Let that sink in for just a bit. There are 10 children in the house, and Scott has cameras in the bathroom. In Scott's defense, the cameras were allegedly for catching Bee red-handed as she apparently hid candy wrappers in toilet paper rolls. But I can't help but think that things are about to get a lot worse. [music] It was July of 2020 and things in the Walker household weren't getting any better. Scott was now 50 years old. Sarah was 37, having just given birth to a baby girl in June. And by now, Bee was 17 years old. Sarah, finally fed up with Scott's manipulation and behavior, was also ready for some change. Scott and Sarah had now broken up, and Sarah was actually seeing another man named Chris O'Connell. But there was something very bizarre about this whole thing. Even though Scott and Sarah were no longer together, Scott still lived in the Walker home. In fact, Scott decided to turn things up a notch and set rules for Sarah while she was dating Chris. This man, I don't I don't even have words. But according to Scott, Sarah was only allowed to stay over at Chris's house two days a week. Also, Chris was never allowed to stay over at the Walker house. Now, that rule, I get that one. It's Scott's house, too. At least, I think. But to tell someone who isn't your wife, who isn't your partner, she's literally nothing but a roommate to you at this point when she can and can't see her boyfriend, that's just beyond the realm of understanding. Well, fast forward to July 17th of 2020 around 10 p.m. Scott drove Bee to his parents house in Bee was wearing all black clothes with a blue denim jacket and black thick framed glasses. During the ride, Scott confiscated Bee's phone, but we don't know why he did this. And according to Scott's parents, Bee was visibly upset when she arrived at their home. Anyway, Bee went on to sleep at around 1:00 a.m. And on the morning of July 18th, at about 10:25 a.m., Scott came to pick Bee up to take her back home, but Bee never made it home. According to Scott, he made a small stop to have a cigarette near Scar's way when Bee flung open the car door and took off. Scott tried to follow her, but he couldn't catch up. And in the end, he just went back home. When Sarah saw Scott returning home, she noticed that he was exhausted and was on the verge of breaking into tears. But she didn't think much of it. Remember, she couldn't have cared less about him at this point. But what was alarming about all of this was that Sarah, Bee's own mother, didn't report her daughter missing until 3 days later, even though she noticed that she hadn't come home with Scott almost immediately. This is not normal behavior coming from a mother. When a child goes missing, the parents, especially mothers, report it to the police right away. What took Sarah so long in reporting her own daughter missing. And what happened during those 3 days? Well, a lot of things happened and we're about to find out that Bee was truly helpless. No one was there for her, not even her own mother. [music] In the years that have passed since this case unfolded, some pretty haunting details have emerged. Bee was very clearly suffering. Not only was she raised in a household with a violent father, but her mother was also all but absent from her life. We don't know if this was simply by choice or because she was trying to raise 10 children, but either way, it is inexcusable. Be was suffering from the unimaginable, and infuriatingly, the main perpetrator was someone she called dad. It turns out behind Sarah's back, Bee was being taken advantage of by Scott in a nightmare that spanned nearly seven years. But sadly, that wasn't all. Be thought that she could turn to her other parent, her own mother, for security and comfort. But Bee was proven wrong again. When she came clean with her mother about what Scott had been doing to her, her mother didn't believe her. She called her own daughter a liar. Mind you, this is coming from a man who openly abused his family. openly was having an affair with multiple other women and he was even openly abusive to his previous family. But you don't believe he has it in him to take advantage of a young girl. Now, I try my best to maintain composure when presenting [music] these cases, but what a freaking [ __ ] What a disgrace and a wholehearted waste of breath. When you become a parent, your whole world changes. Your whole job on this planet is to take care of your children. Always love them. Always believe them. always protect them. But this disgusting excuse of a mother chose to do nothing. If all this wasn't bad enough, Bee's mother ended their conversation by telling Bee she would literally kill her if she ever told anyone else about this. It is so nauseating that Sarah would rather stand up for a narcissistic, abusive man whom she had plans of leaving anyway instead of her own daughter. What a wasted parenthood. But things didn't end there. As soon as Sarah made the call to report her daughter missing 3 days after Bee apparently ran away, the operator was asked some basic questions whose answers were already very suspicious. Apparently, Sarah had received a text from Bee saying that she was staying with her ex-boyfriend Luke after she had run away. But the operator was baffled that Sarah or Scott hadn't gotten in contact with or even visited Luke in order to see Be. The operator immediately knew something was fishy. Regardless, the detectives began searching for bee in neighboring areas. Police conducted searches in Gunthorp, Newboro, and other parts of Peterborough in Cambridge. But sadly, there was no sign of be. Another thing that investigators did that eventually pulled the curtain off the ruse Scott and Sarah were pulling was checking their phones. And boy, did they find a lot of strange things. First, Scott's phone activity was very weird and all over the place on July 18th. See, he had turned his phone off after he picked up Bee from his parents house. And this was at about 11:23 a.m. to 12:54 p.m. And cell phone activity also showed him as well as Sarah going to a specific place multiple times after Bee was reported missing. It was a lockup garage owned by his parents in Walton. Alarmingly, Scott also made a stop there the day that he was supposed to take Bee back home from his parents house. The detectives immediately went out to search this lockup garage. And even though they didn't find Bee, they did find something of hers, a backpack. This backpack was immediately taken in as evidence. And what officers found inside gave them an idea of how much trouble Bee was in. See, Bee always kept a diary and wrote in it ever since she was young. But there was one journal entry that shocked the police, and it said, quote, "Told my mom about my dad and the abuse. She called me a liar and threatened to kill me if I told the police. What kind of parent wouldn't believe their daughter? It's so heartbreaking to see Bee's sadness emanating from these words in her diary. She truly believed that Sarah would be on her side, but she was proven detrimentally wrong. But the detectives weren't done looking. They also decided to reach out to Bee's friends and ask about Scott's abuse. And most of them came forward with more details. According to one of Bee's friends, Warren Naylor, Be had confided in him about Scott taking advantage of her. But Warren later pointed out that on July 19th, a day after Be had apparently run away, he received a message from her on Instagram, which said that she had lied about the abuse. But remember, Scott had confiscated Bee's phone on the route to his parents house. Be didn't have access to her phone, so how could she text her friends or even her mom Sarah about staying over at Luke's? Well, this was another point where the case took an unbelievable turn. Investigators, after some digging, found out that the messages being sent to Sarah and Bee's friends were from Bee's phone, but she obviously wasn't the sender. It was actually Sarah, her own mother. It was speculated that Scott, after learning that Bee had told her mother about the disgusting actions he'd been taking part in, lost his temper and attacked Bee and ended her life on the way back to her home from his parents house. Scott didn't want his dirty laundry to be aired out and get him kicked out of the home. So, he decided to take Bee out of the picture. But that wasn't all. Remember that Scott's phone was turned off for quite some time. Well, it's alleged that Scott took Bee's life during this time, a period of about 91 minutes, and disposed of her body somewhere miles away from home. Afterwards, the first call that he made was to Sarah. Even though no one knows what was said in that call, it was 9 minutes long and the police speculated that it was them discussing their plan to cover up Bee's murder. It's so heartless and unimaginable. But the thing is, Scott's actions were heinous, no matter how you look at it. But what about Sarah? Didn't she feel even an ounce of guilt discussing a cover up for her own daughter's murder over the phone with the very person who so viciously took her life? It's so chilling to think that Sarah went along with the whole plan of sending messages from Bee's phone to make it look like she was in contact with her friends and family, [music] but in reality, it was actually Scott and Sarah's own doing. This proves just how little Bee's own mother actually cared for her, which is nearly impossible to understand. With all of this evidence along with statements from Bee's friends and brother Anthony about Scott's abuse and him recording everyone in the house, both Scott and Sarah were arrested on September 14th, 2020 on charges of murder and perverting the course of justice. The detectives were still looking for Bee's body, but sadly they've been unsuccessful. And to this day, Bee has never been found. >> [music] >> Something definitely happened to be. But if there wasn't a body, then how could a murder trial be successful? Well, the evidence against Scott and Sarah was just too damning. And coupled with the terrible abuse that Bee was enduring, there was a very clear motive for Scott. The trial mainly consisted of statements from Bee's friends about Scott taking advantage of her, even though Scott had the audacity to deny everything. When asked about the hidden cameras in the house and in the bathroom, Scott shockingly stood by his baseless stance of catching bee in the act of hiding candy in the bathroom. But knowing what we know now, I think it's pretty clear to see why Scott put cameras in that bathroom. Another thing that the police came across was a Facebook post when Bee had changed her relationship status from single to in a relationship with Luke. Now, there was nothing wrong with the post itself, but there was a very weird comment left under it. This makes me want to throw up even repeating the words, but Scott left a comment under the relationship status saying, quote, "Any boy who kisses you better have the image of me in your head." He even included a black and white picture of himself attached to the comment. Even after this revelation, Scott continued to deny everything and still maintained that Bee simply ran away from the car on their way home. Sarah, on the other hand, was a bit more cooperative during the investigation, and she did admit to sending out texts from Bee's phone pretending to be her. But obviously, that plan failed pretty quickly because the texts didn't sound like Bee at all. They lacked her personality. And also the Uturn that Bee made about lying about Scott taking advantage of her was so bizarre. Anyone who read it knew that the texts weren't from Bee. Top this with the 3-day wait before officially reporting Bee missing. And so many holes in their stories just don't add up. Even without being able to prove that Scott took Bee's life and without ever finding Bee's body, the jury finally reached a verdict. In 2021, almost a year after Bee went missing, the Cambridge Crown Court found Scott Walker guilty of murder and [music] he was sentenced to life in prison. Another factor that was included in Scott's sentence was his uncooperiveness in disclosing information about Bee's body. Due to this, the Prisoners Disclosure of Information about Victims Act of 2020, better known as Helen's Law, was passed in November of 2020, and it was applicable in Scott's case. Helen's law basically forbids criminals from getting released on bail if they don't disclose information about where they disposed of a victim's body. When Scott's trial and sentencing was over, all that was left was Sarah. She was also tried in court, but there wasn't enough evidence to charge her for Bee's murder. It was unclear if she had known about Scott's terrible plan before it was carried out, but she was found guilty on the count of perverting the course of justice, similar to Scott, and she was sentenced to 6 years in prison. Sadly, more than 3 years later, Bernardet's body has still not been found, and no one besides Scott knows what happened to her. The police searched and combed through different areas and even employed the use of drones, searching equipment, and canine units. But tragically, nothing came up. The detective on Bee's case, [music] Detective Justine Jenkins, said, quote, "We may never know the truth about what Scott did and why, but we do know Bernardet [music] had made allegations of abuse against him." Bee's brother, Anthony, fought till the end to find answers about why his sister's life was taken so suddenly and [music] so barbarically. He's still hopeful that the detectives will be able to locate Be so that he can get a proper goodbye. But on December 22nd, 2023, the air around HM Prison in Full Sutton felt strangely cleaner than usual. Turns out that's because there was one less scumbag grieving it as Scott passed away that day at the age of 53. The only unfortunate thing about his passing is that this officially means there's zero chance of investigators learning where Bee's remains were hidden. Why Scott didn't disclose information on where Bee's body was is still unclear. It may be that he still wanted some kind of control over Bee's grieving siblings and he wanted to get the last word in. I genuinely have a hard time wrapping my head around just how horrible, how awful, and how gross this disgusting man was. I mean, you already lost. You already got caught. You got charged. You got convicted. Just give it up and tell your family where Bee is. It's very clear at this point Scott was only withholding the information because he knew how much it would hurt Bee's siblings. Be was a gifted photographer who tried her best to see the good in everyone, even to the person who practically ruined and then ended her life. She still respected him as a father. This is one of those cases that just sucks. I just wish there was something we could do. Sarah is due to be released from prison in 2027. And who knows how this will pan out for the other nine people she gave birth to. I hope with everything I have that this awful [music] woman was able to turn her life around while behind bars. But I've just got to be honest this time. I don't think there's any coming [music] back from the awful person that she was and probably still is. Redemption is always possible. But let's be clear that sometimes, guys, I don't know if you've ever been the victim of this type of abuse or if you're currently trapped in this type of situation, but do not reach out to family. Do not reach out to friends. Reach out to the police. You can find help. There are people who will believe you, and it's always best if you can provide some tiny shred of evidence to help the police as well. But even if you can't, reach out. It is never too soon. But [music] be is such a terrible example that it can always be too late. Do not let this happen to you. And if you know of someone who's in a similar situation, don't dare let this continue. Step up. At the end of it all, I just hope that be these siblings are okay. And I hope they're able to move on from this because at the end of the day, sometimes that's [music] all we can do is just try to move on. The year is 1975. For the Foreman family, life was moving along perfectly. They had two wonderful kids. They were young and deeply in love, and everything was looking up. But on Mrs. Foreman's 25th birthday, tragedy would strike. As her 5-year-old son, Jason, was playing outside in the woods near their home, he disappeared. The family and nearby neighbors searched for the boy for hours, days, weeks, and eventually years. They found no clues or evidence that would explain his sudden disappearance. The missing boy wouldn't be found until 7 years later when investigators met with a neighbor who made a truly disgusting confession to a crime of devastating proportions. The Foreman family had been living in South Kingtown, Rhode Island for a number of years. One of the great things about South Kingtown and one of the things that keeps people coming back is the beautiful beaches. The town is home to more than 10 miles of undisturbed beaches, as well as several large parks and recreation areas for small families like the Foremans. If this weren't enough, crime [music] also isn't a particularly big deal in South Kingtown, and it never really has been. [music] Sure, there are a few areas where things can get a bit shady, but that's true for just about every city in America. Overall, South Kingtown is just a wonderful place to be. A city rich in history and filled with things to keep young minds occupied while parents go on about their daily lives. For the Foreman family, it doesn't appear like they could have been any happier in their own little slice of heaven. The family lived in the Peaceill area on High Street. A quick look on Google Maps Street View shows that this street is [music] still to this day just stunning. The Foremans lived on top of a hill right next to the [music] local fire station. And from what I can tell, their home used to back up to a patch of dense woods, but it appears as though most of these wooded areas have since been cut down to make way for new housing. But I can't tell that for certain as we don't know what their specific address was. The family consisted of Joyce Foreman, John Foreman, and their three kids, [music] Raven, Jason, and Jason's older brother, whose name I wasn't able to determine. The family members all got along well with one another. And there were several other kids who lived in the nearby local area, making it the perfect place to raise a growing family. Jason and his older brother would often hang out with some of these other kids, and this was the case on May 18th of 1975. May 18th [music] was Joyce's 25th birthday. She'd been hanging out at home that day with Jason and his brother heading out [clears throat] to play for the afternoon. Joyce says that she could hear the kids playing behind the home in the woods all throughout the afternoon, and she last remembers hearing the boys laughing and playing [music] sometime around 3:30 p.m. But soon after that, things got quiet. Joyce [music] didn't think anything of this at the time, but when Jason's brother returned home later that afternoon, Jason [music] was nowhere to be found. His mother went out back to try to round him up, but he was gone. The family all worked together to try to find Jason and bring him home. But it was as though he vanished into thin air. His mother knew he couldn't have gotten very far, and all of the neighbors in the area soon joined in to help search for him. But still, there was no [music] sign of him. We don't know where Jason's older brother may have been during the time that Jason disappeared, [music] but it seems safe to assume that he likely just wandered off with the other children to play elsewhere. Jason's brother hadn't seen him since earlier that afternoon, and with no signs of him by nightfall, the family decided it was time to call in the help of the police. We don't know too much about the search efforts that were conducted for Jason officially, [music] at least not the ones that involve the police. We know that officers took witness statements and searched for Jason far and wide, but most of the specifics of [music] this search have been lost to time, or they were never publicly mentioned in the first place. When searching newspapers [music] from that time period, I wasn't able to find a single mention of Jason until 1982. [music] And that's when things began to take a pretty disturbing turn. By this point, the Foremans had been tirelessly searching for their missing son for more than 7 years. But in all this time, not a single shred of evidence was ever found by investigators. But all of that changed on April 15th. The Foremans [music] had several neighbors who lived in close proximity to them. Their houses were all very close to one another, as is the case in many suburban neighborhoods. This meant that whatever happened at your neighbor's house, you probably knew about it. [music] This was true when news began to spread about a disturbance involving a 14-year-old paper boy named Dale Sherman. Dale had [music] been delivering papers one day when Michael Woodmensy noticed the boy and asked him to come inside for a bit. Michael lived directly across the street from the [music] foremans, but at the time it doesn't appear as though anyone witnessed Michael talking with the teen. Before their conversation was over, Michael had lured the boy into his home with the promise of giving him alcohol. Dale spoke with the New York Times in March of 2011 and recalled the day that he'd been at Michael's home, saying that Michael made good on his promise to [music] give him alcohol, but that wasn't all he gave him. Dale recalls that soon after drinking the alcohol, he began to get incredibly tired. So much so that he could barely keep his eyes open. While all of this was going on, Michael suddenly stood up and [music] grabbed a nearby bandana, wrapping it around Dale's neck and attempting to take his life. Somehow, in the chaos of all this, Dale managed to fight Michael off and escape his grasp. Dale hightailed it out of there and immediately ran home to tell his father. His father didn't take this report lightly, and rather than [music] call the police, he approached Michael one-on-one. Dale's father walked over to Michael's home, knocked on the door, [music] then promptly punched him in the face. As Dale's father was heading back home, he saw the police at a nearby residence, and he flagged him down and reported what had happened to his son. Police spoke with the two briefly, [music] then asked that everyone come down to the police station so that they could take an official statement and try to get to the bottom of things. And this is where the case [music] took another much darker turn. When police were speaking with Michael, they began to suspect that he may have had a few more secrets than he was leading them to believe. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what happened when they questioned him about his [music] assault against Dale. But that's because they began to suspect that Michael may have been holding on to a secret much more disturbing than the one they'd actually been interrogating him about. During their conversations with Michael, at least one of the officers began to [music] wonder if Michael may have had some information about Jason Foreman, the boy who at this point had vanished more than 7 years [music] ago. They didn't want to ask Michael outright for fear that he might clam up and conceal the truth. So gradually, they began to steer the interrogation in a different direction, tossing in questions about Jason Foreman just here and [music] there. But in a shocking twist, Michael actually opened up about what he knew regarding Jason Foreman's [music] disappearance. Before long, he spilled everything he had known about the boy and even told officers that he knew exactly [music] what happened to Jason and where he was today. >> [music] >> We don't know what specifically led to Michael's confession, but while being interrogated about his involvement in the crimes against Dale, Michael came clean and admitted that he had seen Jason on the day that he vanished back in May of 1975. Not only this, but he'd been in direct contact with the boy just minutes before he disappeared. The details of how all of this played out have never been revealed publicly. Even all these years later, police have kept certain aspects of the crime private in order to save the family from any more heartache. All we know for sure is that much like in the case of Dale, Michael had spoken with Jason and managed to lure him into his house. We don't know how Michael convinced Jason to follow him home, but whatever lies he made up, the boy believed them. This is probably a good time to explain that Michael Woodmeny was just 16 years old at the time that all of this unfolded. He was still a kid himself, but Michael wasn't your typical teen by any means. Michael had seemingly been battling dark fantasies for a long time. But on May 18th of 1975, these fantasies would finally be unleashed. Once Michael had taken Jason to his home, he attacked the young boy. The only aspect of the crime that we know for certain is that at some point in the afternoon, Michael grabbed a knife from his kitchen and ambushed young Jason. Why he did this remains a mystery, but in the end, Jason lost his life. We don't know what he may have done or said to Jason before this crime took place, but we have a pretty hefty suspicion about what took place afterward. See, there's a reason why police never located the remains of Jason. [music] Usually, when a person goes missing, if they're not found alive, their remains are found a while later. But that wasn't true in Jason's case. He had simply vanished entirely, never to be seen again. But as police were speaking with Michael about the crime during his interrogation, he made a pretty bizarre statement. After confessing to the crime, he immediately got nervous and mentioned a journal or a diary or some sort of notebook that he kept in his room. Explained to officers that if they searched his home, they would find the book. But he wanted to assure them that whatever was inside this journal was purely fiction. But as far as we can tell, it wasn't. When officers found the book, their jaws hit [music] the floor. This journal didn't just include the ramblings of a teen or a young adult. It included detailed accounts of what had happened to Jason all those years ago. Now, naturally, the exact contents of this book have never been made public. In fact, police haven't released a single word from this journal after all this time. The only reason we know what was inside is because Jason's sister spoke with officers about the journal and they shared many of the contents with her and she openly revealed what Michael had done to her brother all those years ago. And I promise it's nothing you would have ever expected. [music] Jason's sister, Raven, is now obviously an adult, and she's spoken with various news outlets in recent years about the contents of Michael's home and what investigators found during their interrogation. Raven says that while police didn't reveal anything about this journal publicly, they did share several key details with her and explain the contents of the journal, though they seem to have refused to show it to her directly. Raven spoke about the contents of the journal and explained that the journal didn't just contain a detailed account of what happened to her brother, [music] but it had become, well, a recipe book of sorts. She says that the journal described in detail [music] what Michael had done to Jason after claiming his life. And to keep it simple and very clear, Michael ate Jason. His motive for doing this has never [music] been clear. But after Jason had been dealt with accordingly, Michael couldn't just ditch Jason's bones in a landfill or toss them in a creek somewhere. No, that would be too [music] weird and twisted. So, what better way to hide a body from the police than to clean each of the bones and then encase [music] them in shellac and display them on your dresser. Now, you've probably heard the phrase, "The truth is stranger than fiction." Well, that's certainly true here. While Michael insisted that the contents of this journal were fiction, Raven says that the police have an overwhelming amount of evidence that proves that the accounts [music] written inside this journal were entirely real. Now, some reports claimed that Jason's bones were displayed on Michael's dresser as if they were trophies, though other reports claimed that the bones had been shellaced and kept [music] inside of a box. I don't know which of these reports is more accurate. But needless to say, investigators had all the evidence they needed to secure a conviction. But this is where the case takes yet another turn. [music] And again, it's not a good one. See, when investigators were pursuing the case, they were running all of the details by the Foreman family. While officers wanted to secure a conviction of first-degree murder, they concerned about the impact that the trial would have on the Foreman family. Needless to say, the Foreman family had already been to Helen back, and to make them sit through a trial and hear each of the gruesome details of their son's final moments may have just pushed them over the edge. To get past this, police offered Jason's father a way to sidestep this process. Rather than pursue a conviction of firstdegree murder, they would pursue seconddegree murder. This would still secure Michael Woodmancy a 40-year conviction, but it would keep the family from having to hear all of the details inside the journal and also keep them from having to see their son's remains on display when they were used as evidence in the trial. Jason's father agreed to this plea deal, and Michael was sent to prison for 40 years instead of getting a life sentence. But once again, the case takes yet another [music] turn, and this may be the darkest twist yet. The backlash from this case was serious. The entire community of South Kingtown was enraged by what Michael had done. And to say that he had a target on his back would be an understatement. When Michael was sent to prison, he had to be sent to an outofstate facility in Massachusetts for his own protection. But considering he was prosecuted under Rhode Island law, that meant that all of Rhode Island's rules and regulations regarding prisoners were still applicable in Michael's case. One of these being the so-called good time law. This law allows prisoners of various convictions to receive lighter sentences for good behavior. In general, the law will allow a prisoner to have 10 days removed from his sentence for every 30 days of good behavior, essentially lessening some sentences by up to 33%. Now, there's definitely some ifs, ands, and buts regarding this law, but this is very generally speaking what the law provides for these prisoners. As you might expect, Michael exploited [music] this law to the best of his ability and was only required to serve 28 years of a 40-year sentence. When news of this came out publicly and locals found out that Michael would be heading back to Rhode Island in 2011, they were furious. So much so that several locals admitted to purchasing weapons in anticipation of Michael's return. But these weapons weren't to be used for protection. Many locals spoke out against Michael and directly confessed that if he ever stepped foot back in their community, they'd kill him. And they meant it. One of these people was Jason's own father, who has sworn on multiple occasions that he has every intention of killing Michael Woodmeny if he's ever able to find him. Jason's father feels a certain amount of guilt for accepting the plea bargain that was offered by investigators all those years ago. He says that had he known about the good time law, he would have never agreed to that deal. Now, he fears that if Michael is released into society again, he may claim the life of someone else's child. And Jason's father says he feels solely responsible for that possibility. Thankfully, Michael wasn't released, at least not fully. While Michael was released from prison, he agreed to be sent to a mental health facility for the remainder of his life. Michael is in his 60s now, as far as I can tell, and he knew how dangerous it would be if he went back to the Rhode Island community. There were riots and protests all throughout the state filled with people who wanted to see Michael 6 feet under. When he learned of this news, he knew he didn't stand a chance at having a proper life ever again. And he's now residing at the Elellanar Slater Hospital in Cranston, Rhode Island, where he'll likely remain for the rest of his days. Jason's father, John, says that he'll search high and low to find Michael and ensure that he doesn't hurt anyone ever again. and Jon's family say that they have every reason to believe that he will follow up on this promise. We don't know if Jon is satisfied with Michael being released into a mental health facility or if he still plans on following up on these claims. But one thing is for sure, however things may play out, Michael Woodmeny will never be a free man ever again. At least not for long so long as John [music] Foreman's around.
