£30M Toffee Bid Rejected For Winger? | Everton News Daily
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Recent reports from Scotland indicate that Everton have significantly cooled their interest in Celtic fullback Alistair Johnston, with the Daily Record citing the Scottish club's asking price as the primary deterrent to a move. While Johnston impressed during his appearance against Dundee and is expected to feature for Celtic this weekend, he was initially considered one of several potential right-back targets alongside names like Wan-Bissaka and Broke Norton Coffee. However, given that Everton's preferred option, Doucoure, appears set to leave the club, management may need to explore other avenues if a deal cannot be struck quickly enough before the transfer window closes.
In addition to domestic rumors involving Jonathan Rowe, where an Italian press report suggests Bologna rejected a £30 million offer from Everton, there is significant activity surrounding winger Tyler Dibling and his potential future at RB Leipzig. Despite still training with Leipzig ahead of their match against Stuttgart, it has been confirmed that the German side intends to use this fixture as leverage to negotiate for Dibling, who could replace Dayot Upamecano upon his move to Real Madrid. This situation highlights a complex transfer landscape where Everton must decide whether to hold onto young talent like Dibling or facilitate a sale while simultaneously addressing their need for new wingers and potentially bringing back Jack Grealish.
The club's squad news also includes the announcement that Christian Nørgaard will wear the number 23 shirt this season, taking over from outgoing captain Séamus Coleman. Although some fans feel it is premature to honor a legend so soon after his departure, Nørgaard expressed deep respect for Coleman and accepted the responsibility of wearing the iconic jersey with pride. Meanwhile, former goalkeeper Shay Given remains in limbo regarding his next steps, having trained with Sheffield United while links emerged with Coventry City and Hull City, leaving his future uncertain as he considers what comes next after his time at Everton ended.

According to reports today coming out of
Scotland Everton have cooled their
interest in Celtic fullback Alistair
Johnston. That is according to the Daily
Record today. They cite Celtic's asking
price as a reason why Everton haven't
submitted a bid for the 27-year-old
Canadian international. Johnston did
play for Celtic in their 1-0 win over
Dundee and is expected to be in the
squad for their game at the weekend.
Everton are exploring a number of
opportunities for other right-backs to
come in. Johnston was thought to be one
of a few who Everton are running the
rule over. But
yeah, that's coming out of Scotland
today that Everton have cooled their
interest in him. Listen,
we'll see what happens. It could easily
be solved, couldn't it? If Celtic,
you know, drop in their price or Everton
decide to pay it. But as for now, that's
what the the story is today. Obviously,
we did Everton interested in Ridle Baku.
That was yesterday or the day before. So
there are other options as well. Everton
have been linked with Wan-Bissaka.
They've been linked with Broke Norton
Coffee. Obviously, Doucoure was was
probably the number one target, but he
looks to be moving elsewhere. So there
has been a number of links to fullbacks.
Johnston being one of them.
And staying with fullbacks, Everton
today been linked with a move for Krepin
Diatta who left Monaco on June the 30th.
He was away at the World Cup. He played
four times for Senegal at the World Cup.
He can play right-back, left-back,
right-wing, and left-wing. Diatta, he
played 20 times last season for Monaco
at fullback getting one assist. He is
quick, hard-working player as well. So
interesting he's out of contract. That's
the link today. Schalke
and Ipswich Town also credited with an
interest in the free agent.
And according to the Italian press,
today Bologna rejected an offer of 30
million pounds for winger Jonathan Rowe
from Everton.
Take this maybe with a pinch of salt,
but there has certainly been a lot of
rumors around Everton being interested
in Rowe. He featured 28 times last
season scoring three goals and
registering two assists. Those rumors
were sort of I'd say they were stronger
10 days ago when there was a lot of
uncertainty over Iliman Ndiaye. Now
Ndiaye has returned to training to
Everton's camp in Germany and it's
thought he'll play some part in
Everton's game against Stuttgart at the
weekend. So,
he's still an Everton player. Everton
still have him under contract for
another 3 years.
So, I guess until someone comes in and
tests Everton's resolve with a bid for
Ndiaye, you know, David Moyes will be
planning to have Ndiaye for this season.
Rowe may well be on
another list
um
for when sort of, you know, if Ndiaye
does move on. But, I do find it
difficult to believe we'd bid 30 million
pounds for the player, especially when
Everton are still trying to or still
hopeful of bringing Jack Grealish back
to the club for next season. So, that's
coming out of Italy today as well.
Um and one more bit of transfer news
about an out going
and that is that RB Leipzig are expected
to have representation at Stuttgart via
Everton at the weekend to run the rule
over Everton winger Tyler Dibling. They
have apparently made him one of their
top choices to replace Dayot Upamecano
when he moves to Real Madrid. Although,
this winger was still training with
Leipzig, but that does look like it's
going to happen. Does look like he is
going to go off to Madrid and Tyler
Dibling has been identified as his
replacement.
Um Leipzig do have a brilliant record
with young players developing them and
then selling them on for higher.
They were very interested in Sekou
Koïta. They're very interested in Tyler
Dibling.
RB Leipzig want something that
Evertonians haven't really seen. Who
knows, but you know, there is a clear
interest there. They were interested in
him taking him last summer, but Everton
beat them to the signing of Dibling. So,
again, it's in the same thing. Are they
going to make an offer? Are they going
to try and see if they could take him on
loan? Is that something Everton would be
open to?
Um, we just need to see a bit more. I
think he is He's got lots of talent,
Tyler. We just need to see him come on
out. Um,
if Everton were to let him go, you'd
imagine you'd want to bring someone in.
And then obviously, if I were to say I
was to go with me, you'd almost mean you
need two right wingers coming in as well
as Jack Harrison on the other side.
Feels like a lot of work to do
in the sort of final three and a half
weeks of the year the transfer window,
but
Everton have still got a lot of work to
do anyway in that without adding to it.
So, I don't know whether Everton have
got any intention of letting Dibling go
out the door, but apparently, RB Leipzig
will have representation at the game at
the weekend.
And finally, Everton have announced that
new signing Christian Nørgaard will wear
the number 23 shirt.
Uh, Nørgaard who finalized his deal
yesterday,
uh, was taking over from club captain
Séamus Coleman who left the club in
June. Uh, he said it'd be an honor to
wear the shirt of an Everton legend.
He did stress he's a different player,
but said he will give his all
to honor the shirt uh, left by Séamus
Coleman, as he called him, which is
which I loved that. I loved that.
But, uh, yeah, listen, uh,
a lot of people have highlighted they
feel like it's just a little bit too
soon. That shirt's still warm from
Séamus walking out the door. I mean,
technically, he never wore that shirt,
so there you go. But, um,
yeah, listen, someone's got to wear it
sometimes, haven't they? And Christian
Nørgaard is the man to do that for this
season, so good luck to him.
Um and I wonder we will find out soon,
I'm sure, what Shay Given is going to
do.
You know, there there was a lot of links
with Coventry. He was training with
Sheffield United. There was Hull City
linked to him. There's well still no
sort of indication on what his career
will hold moving forward. But, good luck
to him, whatever it is. That is it for
the news day. Make sure you check out
the match preview stuck out faces
Everton.
