2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Review | America's #1 Best Selling Mercedes-Benz!
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is presented as the brand's top-selling SUV in the United States, offering a compelling blend of performance and luxury that competes directly with rivals like the BMW X3 and Genesis GV70. This model year sees a price increase for the rear-wheel drive version starting at $52,400, while the all-wheel-drive 4MATIC configuration tested here begins at $54,400. Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a 2-liter turbocharged inline-four engine paired with a mild hybrid system, delivering 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain enables a zero-to-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds and achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway, requiring premium unleaded fuel to operate efficiently.
Beyond raw acceleration, the GLC 300 impresses with its sophisticated handling capabilities and advanced safety features. The vehicle comes standard with an adaptive damping suspension that monitors each shock absorber individually to smooth out road imperfections while tightening up during heavy cornering for superior grip. Braking performance is highlighted by a stopping distance of just 107 feet from 60 mph, a figure typically associated with sports sedans rather than mid-size SUVs. Inside the cabin, drivers can customize their experience through various drive modes—such as Sport, Comfort, and Off-road—that adjust steering weight, throttle response, and suspension settings. Additional standard conveniences include rain-sensing wipers, a head-up display, and a power tailgate that opens to reveal 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 59.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The interior of the 2027 GLC 300 is praised for its high-quality materials and immersive technology, featuring a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting available in 64 colors, and optional matte textured wood trim. The cockpit houses an 11.9-inch portrait-style touchscreen with a fingerprint sensor for personalized driver profiles, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that offers customizable layouts ranging from classic to sport modes. Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the standard Burmester 3D surround sound system, which provides rich bass and clear highs, while safety is further enhanced by features like active park assist, collision mitigation braking, and an emergency call service that contacts authorities if needed. Although the reviewer notes that the extensive list of options can quickly drive up the final price, the overall consensus is that the GLC 300 delivers excellent ride quality, brilliant driving dynamics, and a refined luxury experience that justifies its status as America's best-selling Mercedes-Benz.

>> What's up, you guys? Welcome back to
another one. If you are new to this
channel, I am Goldpony44. I do car,
truck, SUV reviews on YouTube. And
today, we are in the brand new 2027
Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, courtesy of
Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown in
Hagerstown, Maryland. For more
information on their inventory, please
feel free to check out the link in the
description box below. So, we are in
this one today because this is
Mercedes-Benz's number one best seller
here in the US, at least. Very
good-looking SUV. Amazing ambient
lighting as well. And in case you were
curious, the GLC is going to be
competing with the BMW X3 and Genesis
GV70, just to name a couple there. But,
ultimately in this video, we will be
testing out and going over everything
about this one, from acceleration to
braking, steering feel, ride quality,
sound system, exhaust clip, all that fun
stuff. So, having said all of that, what
do you guys say? Let's just go ahead and
jump right into it. And as always, let's
start with pricing. And so, there's
essentially two different configurations
for the 2027 GLC 300. You got the
rear-wheel drive configuration, starting
at $52,400,
which by the way is a $2,850
bump for the 2027 model year. One of the
bigger bumps compared to the previous
years. But, then you got the 4MATIC
all-wheel drive being the one we are in
today, starting at $54,400.
But, regardless of the configuration
that you go with, the power plant is
going to be the same. Powering the GLC
is a 2-liter turbocharged inline
four-cylinder with a mild hybrid system.
This puts out 255 horsepower at 5,800
RPM, 295 lb ft of torque coming in at
2,000 RPM. Power being sent to the rear
wheels or all wheels through a
nine-speed automatic with paddle
shifters, which of course you guys know
we will be testing out here in a little
bit. But, zero to 60 time is going to
come in at a respectable 6.2 seconds,
with MPG numbers coming in at 22 in the
city, 27 on the highway, taking premium
unleaded fuel. With that said, before we
do any kind of fun paddle shifter or
acceleration test here in in GLC 300, I
did want to mention to you guys the
drive modes. It is labeled dynamic. Uh
it's just underneath of the infotainment
screen here. It stands for dynamic
select. The drive modes will include
off-road, eco, comfort, sport, and
individual. Just in things like the
shift points, the throttle response, the
steering sensitivity, and the all-wheel
drive system engagement then as well.
So, now that I've got all of that out of
the way, what do you guys say let's go
ahead and find a straightaway. Let's put
the paddle shifters and acceleration
here to the test. I want to see how
quickly the paddle shifters are going to
react for us here. And of course, let's
see how quickly we can get the GLC 300
here up to speed. All right, found our
straightaway. Got it in manual shift
mode. So, let's give this a shot in 3
2
1 go.
All right, 1 plenty quick. You're not
going to have any issues merging onto
the highway. 2 Paddle shifters, there
was a slight delay. They're not bad.
They're okay for an SUV. Probably if I
were to get this SUV, I would never use
them cuz they're just one of those
gimmicky features in my personal
opinion. But, um they're okay. They're
also matte black plastic. I would have
liked to have seen at least a silver
finish to them if not aluminum or carbon
fiber or a magnesium, something special
because this is a Mercedes-Benz after
all. But, off the paddle shifters,
acceleration was plenty fine. You're not
going to have any issues there. But, to
go along with that acceleration, as
always, braking is equally important.
So, up front you will find 13.5 in
ventilated front discs. In the back,
12.6 in solid rear discs. As far as this
SUV's rear stopping distance goes, it
comes in at a super impressive 107 ft.
That really is an impressive number, you
guys. But, anyways, as far as braking
feel goes,
it's fine. It's maybe a little bit on
the softer side, believe it or not. Um I
expected more of a firm braking feel
with a number like 107 ft, but it's
plenty fine. That That number is dang
impressive. Typically, 110 is a sports
sedan. Anything under that is sports
car. So, this is sports car good. Like,
that's an insane stopping number, but
anyways, and touching on suspension and
handling, you will find your four-wheel
independent suspension coming standard
on the GLC 300, but you know what else
comes standard? An adaptive damping
suspension. So, I always love those, but
that does is it monitors each shock
absorber individually, not only
adjusting to the road imperfections,
giving you a smoother ride, but it also
tightens up that suspension during heavy
cornering, giving you better handling as
well. So, it really does give you the
best of both worlds. Typically, what I
notice first is the ride quality. So, if
you're looking for better ride quality,
that adaptive damping suspension is
always something you want to have in the
back of your mind, because that is going
to give it to you. And having said that,
as far as ride quality goes in our short
little test drive here today, I'm on
literally the smoothest road in
Hagerstown, possibly the smoothest road
in Maryland, but nonetheless, of course,
it is ridiculously smooth ride quality
right now. So, definitely not having any
issues there. As far as cabin noise
goes, we're going over 50 mph, I'll be
quiet here for a second.
It's plenty fine. I got the air on in
the background here, so you guys might
hear that, but it's a pretty darn serene
cabin, so I don't have any issues there,
either. As far as steering feel goes,
like I said, that does adjust depending
upon the drive mode that you put it in.
So, just tap that dynamic button. I just
put it back in sport. It's going to give
you a much, much heavier weight to the
steering, uh better pointing you in the
direction that you want to go. So, if
you want that playful feel, you got that
sport driving mode. If you wanted a
looser feel to the steering, like more
traditional SUV, you got the comfort
mode, you got the eco mode, stuff like
that. So, I love that it gives you a
little bit of something for everybody
there. That's pretty cool. And touching
our rear visibility, looking at my
rearview mirror here, I can see
perfectly fine out the back, so
definitely should not have any issues
there. In addition to that, rain-sensing
windshield wipers do come standard on
the GLC. So, whenever this thing detects
any kind of mist or rainfall, it's going
to automatically turn on this windshield
wipers for you. Kind of like automatic
headlights, just one less thing you got
to worry about there. And I also have a
head-up display. I really can't see with
polarized sunglasses, but I'm telling
you if you take these things off, it is
super bright. It's got my speed, speed
limit, safety features, it's got
everything up there and uh I'm a big fan
of that as well. But that pretty much
rounds out the performance segment of
this review, guys. Let's now go ahead
and take a look at the exterior now of
our brand new 2027
Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. so here she is,
you guys, the new 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC
300 finished in graphite gray metallic,
which by the way is a $750 paint option,
in case you were curious. But as always,
let's go ahead and start with where this
one is made. Taking a look at the VIN,
first character is the letter W,
indicating that the GLC is built and
assembled in Germany as it should be.
But starting up front, it's either going
to be a single chrome horizontal front
slat, which is what you guys are looking
at right now. That's the standard setup.
But there's an AMG Line package that
goes for $3,450.
That gives you that classic diamond
block front grill with unique front
fascia as well, in case you were curious
about that. To the bottom corners there,
you get some front air curtains, of
course, with the AMG Line package
they're going to be more pronounced. I
did review an AMG Line package last
year, so that's why I keep referencing
that one, but a little more aggressive
styling with that essentially. To the
sides, either way you get LED headlights
with LED daytime running lights. You get
the automatic feature with those. You
also get automatic high beams. If you
have your high beams on at night and it
senses a vehicle coming in the opposite
direction, it's going to automatically
dim them back to low beams. Then when
that vehicle is gone, it's going to
automatically bounce it back up high
beams for you there. So that's always
super convenient. And if you wanted an
illuminated star, that front emblem
there, that goes for $400. It is an
option, but that pretty much rounds out
the front end of this one. Let's now go
ahead and swing around to the side. All
right, and so but now since we are
around to the side of this one, you're
going to find either gloss black or
aluminum roof rails, depending upon the
configuration that you go with, of
course. Rear privacy glass does come
standard. Chrome or gloss black window
surrounds. Taking a look at the side
mirrors, they are body colored or gloss
black side mirrors. Again, depending
upon the configuration. They will be
power adjustable with LED integrated
turn signals. They're going to be heated
and power folding actually, as well.
Then taking a look down at the wheel
setup, 18-in aluminum alloys do come
standard. There are plenty of 19-in and
20-in designs available and AMG line
packages that adds AMG specific alloys
then as well. But, that pretty much
rounds out the side profile. Let's now
go ahead and swing around to the back.
All right, so Vanessa, so we are round
to the back of the GLC. Starting all the
way to the top, there is no antenna or
shark fin antenna whatsoever. It's a
super clean look with Mercedes-Benz. You
got to appreciate that. Rear spoiler
with an integrated brake light, of
course. Rear window wiper affixed to the
rear glass. LED tail lights do come
standard, as well. You're going to
either find then aluminum or gloss black
lower bumper trim or I should say chrome
or gloss black. We got the chrome lower
bumper trim there. And then just below
it all, this is kind of interesting cuz
Mercedes-Benz wants you to believe that
that exhaust is integrated into the rear
bumper there, but those are actually
filled in with plastic. The true exhaust
is found underneath. It is actually
tucked away, but it is dual exhaust. So,
that's kind of cool, I guess. So, having
said that, I do believe you guys know
what we have to do next. As always, here
is that exhaust clip.
All right, so Vanessa, so we are round
to the back of the GLC. When it comes to
opening that rear tailgate, it is a
power tailgate that does come standard.
There is a button on the key fob. There
is a rubberized button on the tailgate
itself then, as well. But, once opened
up, cargo capacity comes in at 21.9
cubic feet behind that second row. If
that was not enough space, there is a
40/20/40 split, meaning the rear seats
do fold down. Bump that up to 59.3 cubic
feet then. There's actually a button to
fold down the rear seats in the cargo
area, by the way. But, 12-V power outlet
back there. Got an elastic strap back
there. There's chrome-plated tie-down
anchors. Little bit of netted storage.
You got grocery bag hooks on both sides
in the back. You got to appreciate that.
Cargo cover, of course. And then, if you
were to lift up underneath of that cargo
floor, you will find a spare tire, which
I always love to see. So, that's pretty
nice. But, then making your way up to
the rear legroom, that comes in at 37.4
inches. For reference, I mean, even 6-ft
tall, this is how much space I had in
the back seats there. Rear center
armrest with phone and cup holders. And
this is kind of a unique setup. So, if
you haven't seen Mercedes-Benz before,
this might be a little bit different. To
actually get access to the cup holders,
you press it out once, that gives you
the phone holder, and then you press it
in halfway, and then let it out, and
that gives you access to the cup
holders. So, it's a little bit different
there, a little bit uh secretive, but
that's how you get access to them. Rear
ventilation uh back there as well. You
got a little bit of storage just below
that. And uh surprisingly, no rear USB
charging ports, which I always find kind
of interesting in a GLC. You would think
they would have them. But, anyways. Then
making your way up to the front seats,
power-adjustable front seats with memory
settings coming standard. Heated front
seats also coming standard. Then
ventilated front seats are going to be
optional. But, overall, as far as seat
comfort goes, it was plenty fine. I
think the headrests are perfectly fine
as well. And I love the Sienna brown
color to them as well. I think that
looks pretty darn cool. But, then making
our way to the uh start up. Let me start
by showing you guys the key here. This
is a very heavy-duty key, by the way.
Nice hefty weight to it. But, you got
lock, that is the Mercedes logo, unlock,
and the button to pop the rear tailgate
there. And it is all keyless entry with
a push button start. So, all I'm going
to do here is simply put my foot on the
brake, and press that gloss black engine
start button, located just in between
the gauge cluster and the infotainment
screen there. And so, once started up,
what you guys are looking at is a
12.3-in digital gauge cluster. And it's
done pretty darn good. And so, the fun
button with the gauges is there's a home
button on the left-hand side of the
steering wheel, and if you press that,
that gives you access to completely
change the look up there. And so, you
got a navigation look, there's an
off-road look, there's your classic
look, which is what I kept it on most of
my drive. There's also a sport look,
which is kind of like a 3D effect,
that's pretty cool as well. And then, if
you swipe up, it gives you the head-up
display customization as well. Believe
it or not, you can change the head-up
display customization. Basically, the
same thing. You got your standard setup,
sport, off-road, that kind of thing. So,
I love the way this is set up. The only
thing I'm missing is understated, which
Mercedes-Benz used to have on the GLC.
And with that, you could customize the
color and things like that. So, I wish
they would bring that back, but
nonetheless, you're still getting how
many miles you have left until you hit
empty. There's a digital speedometer,
speed limit recognition, outside
temperature is saying it's 86° out
today, so super nice today. So, overall,
gauges are definitely done very nicely.
But, now let's go ahead and make our way
to overall interior quality. There is a
black fine line center console finish.
Dual pane panoramic sunroof does come
standard. Got a frameless rear-view
mirror with Homelink controls for up to
three different garage doors on the
bottom portion of that mirror. Uh wood
trims are going to be available. We
actually have one of them, and they are
a matte texturized wood finish. So,
that's pretty cool. I definitely like
that. Wireless phone charger is found
just kind of in front of the cup holders
there in the center. And surrounding
that, you get ambient lighting, which by
the way, there's 64 colors of ambient
lighting, and I did just turn up the
brightness. They're surrounding the
climate control vents, they're on the
doors, they're around the cup holders
here. It's absolutely everywhere.
They're up top in the ceiling here.
Mercedes-Benz always does ambient
lighting absolutely wonderfully. But,
anyways, a little bit of storage just to
the left of the cup holders, and then
within the center armrest. Decent amount
of space in there. You got a little LED
light in there, USB charging port, and a
lot of really nice finishes overall, as
expected. So, I think they did a
wonderful job with the interior quality.
It's a Mercedes-Benz after all. That
pretty much says it all. But now let's
go ahead and make our way to the
infotainment screen. And so this is an
11.9-in
portrait-style touchscreen display. And
you got the little fingerprint sensor at
the very bottom as well. So you can
customize the vehicle settings to your
specific driver. And so this doesn't
just cover the seats. This literally
covers everything from the seats to the
ambient lighting to all of it. So that's
pretty cool that uh you got that little
fingerprint sensor there. I think that
came out last year, but Bluetooth and
audio streaming, Android Auto, Apple
CarPlay up there, factory navigation
system of course. Got your climate
control settings up there. There's your
ambient lighting settings where you can
change the color, adjust the brightness,
all that fun stuff. Even your off-road
statistics. I don't know who's taking a
GLC 300 off-road, but it's up there um
along with your radio information. So
when it comes to the sound system, the
standard sound system on the GLC 300 is
a Burmester 3D surround sound system. So
having said that, let's go ahead and
turn on the radio. Let's see what we got
playing today. And let's test out the
clarity of this one.
>> [music]
>> All right, lot of bass to that. Tons of
bass. Uh plenty of clarity as well. It's
a really good sound system for the GLC.
There's no doubt about that. But
anyways, last thing on the infotainment
screen I wanted to mention to you guys
is when you do put the GLC in reverse,
you will find a rearview camera coming
standard across the board, but also with
surround view monitor there to the left
as well. Giving you that bird's-eye
view, letting you know who or what is
completely all around you, which is
always is going to lead us into safety.
And so front, side, side curtain airbags
do come standard. Driver's knee airbag
up front as well. In the back you got
latch, aka lower anchors and tethers to
children for the rear car seats. Rear
child door locks, tire pressure
monitoring system, but also coming
standard, a collision mitigation braking
system, driver attention monitoring
system, parktronic with active park
assist, which is a wild feature by the
way. You essentially pick the spot, and
then you let the car know if you want it
to pull in or back in, and it does all
the steering and the gas and the braking
and all that stuff for you. It's pretty
cool, but active brake assist,
autonomous emergency braking, blind spot
assist, and a Mercedes-Benz emergency
call service then as well. So, if you
get into an accident, the car is going
to call you and ask if you need the
police or ambulance or whatever the
case. So, that's nice, but overall, when
it comes to my final thoughts here of
the GLC 300, excellent interior quality.
I love our matte wood trim we got in
this one. I love our Sienna brown
leather. I love all our high-quality
silver texturized finishes on the doors.
It's just overall just done wonderfully.
Uh park assist is fun, brilliant driving
dynamics to this thing. So, plenty of an
acceleration. 60 to zero in 107 ft is
absolutely bonkers as well, and an
incredible ride quality thanks to the
adaptive damping suspension. The only
room for improvement, and I don't even
know if you could really call it room
for improvement, is this thing can get
pricey pretty darn quick in typical
Mercedes fashion because they offer so
many different options available for
this one. So, just keep that in mind
when you're specking this thing out.
But, anyways, that's pretty much it for
this one, you guys. Thank you so much
for watching. Feel free to follow me on
social media stuff if you want to see
what's coming next on the channel before
it gets to YouTube. Be sure to hit the
subscribe and the bell notification
button if you're into new car reviews.
That is what I've been doing for 12
years now. I do appreciate you guys
watching more than you know, and I will
