Video summary
The 2027 Hyundai Palisade marks the second year of its second generation, bringing a notable price reduction to the table while maintaining its status as a top-tier family SUV. Starting at $39,735 for the SE trim, the pricing structure offers significant value, with the Premium model tested in this review launching at $45,600. This substantial drop from the previous year's pricing makes the vehicle an attractive option without sacrificing its core appeal. Under the hood, the Palisade continues to rely on a reliable 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine producing 287 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While acceleration is adequate for highway merging rather than spirited driving, the naturally aspirated setup offers traditional reliability compared to modern turbocharged engines. Fuel economy figures are respectable at 19/26 mpg for front-wheel drive and 18/24 mpg for all-wheel drive configurations, utilizing regular unleaded fuel.
Inside the cabin, Hyundai delivers a serene and upscale environment that excels in ride quality and noise isolation. The vehicle features a smooth suspension setup with independent struts in the front and multi-link in the rear, ensuring comfort even without adaptive damping technology. Drivers can customize their experience through various drive modes, including Eco, Sport, Snow, and a unique "My Drive" setting that allows for heavier steering weights without sacrificing acceleration. The interior is well-appointed with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof option, and high-quality materials like matte wood trim. Safety is a major highlight, as the Palisade has earned the top safety pick plus award from IIHS, complemented by an extensive suite of standard features such as blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation, and an advanced adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go capability.
The exterior design of the 2027 Palisade is described as stately and upscale, featuring LED headlights with automatic high-beam dimming, active grille shutters for engine cooling, and available silver roof rails. The vehicle offers versatile cargo space ranging from 19.1 cubic feet behind the third row to a massive 86.7 cubic feet with all seats folded, making it ideal for road trips. Inside, the second-row captain's chairs provide substantial legroom, while the third row offers enough space for adults in certain configurations. Although the Palisade is built in Korea and assembled there, its cargo volume falls slightly short of competitors like the Grand Highlander or Chevy Traverse, leading the reviewer to suggest that Hyundai might need a larger SUV or a dedicated minivan to fully compete in the current market. Ultimately, the Premium trim is identified as the best value proposition, offering key upgrades like ventilated front seats and heated rear seating at a reasonable price point.

Got to go. Got to see things, see new
faces and brand new things. Got to go
places and do things, baby.
>> What's [music] up you guys? Welcome back
to another one. If you are new to the
channel, I am Gold Pony. I do new car,
truck, SUV reviews on YouTube. And today
we are in the brand new 2027 Hyundai
Palisade courtesy of Jack Gmbalvo
Hyundai in York, PA. For more
information on their inventory, please
feel free to check out the link in the
description box below. What's up? We're
in this one today because this is the
second year into the second generation
Palisade. You still get America's best
warranty being 5 years, 60,000 mi
bumper-to-bumper, 10 years, 100,000 mi
on the powertrain. Very upscale design
in my personal opinion. And there's
actually a substantial price drop for
the 2027 Palis, believe it or not, as
well. So, ultimately in this video, we
will be testing out going over
everything about this one from
acceleration to braking, steering field,
ride quality, sound system, exhaust
clip, all that fun stuff. So, having
said all of that, what do you guys say?
Let's just go ahead and jump right into
it. And as always, let's start with
pricing. And so, as you can imagine,
there are several different trim levels
for the 2027 Palisade. You got the SE
starting at $39,735,
which by the way is a $695
drop from the 2026 model year. That's
pretty substantial. I love that. Seal
for $42,240. Got the Premium being the
one we are in today, starting at 45,600.
Limited for $50,70, XRT Pro for $50,170,
and lastly, the calligraphy starting at
$54,860.
By the way, that was all pricing for the
front-wheel drive configuration. If you
wanted to add all-wheel drive, you can
do that. Simply add $2,000 then to any
of those prices. But regardless of the
trim level that you go with, the power
plant on the Palisade is going to be the
same. Powering the Beast is a 3.5 L
naturally aspirated V6. This puts out
287 horsepower at 5,800 RPM. 260 pound-
feet of torque coming in at 5,000 RPM.
That power being sent to the front
wheels or all wheels through an 8-speed
automatic with paddle shifters, which of
course you guys know we will be testing
out here in a little bit. But MPG
numbers then coming in at 19 in the
city, 26 on the highway for the
front-wheel drive, 18 city, 24 then on
the highway for the all-wheel drive,
taking regular unled fuel. We said that
before we do any kind of fun paddle
shifter or acceleration test here in the
Palisada, I did want to mention to you
guys the drive modes. And so drive mode
button is located just kind of by the
driver's right knee. It says drive with
a line under it. And then it says
terrain, meaning you get the on-road
drive modes and the off-road drive
modes. Drive modes will include eco,
normal, sport, my drive, snow, mud, and
sand. Adjusting things like the shift
points, the throttle response, and the
steering sensitivity. So now having got
all of that out of the way, what do you
guys say? So, let's go ahead and find a
straightaway. Let's put the paddle
shifters here to the test first and
let's see how quickly these paddle
shifters are going to react for us here.
All right, I think we found our
straightaway here. Let's downshift and
[music]
eh not really nothing too impressive
there. I mean, I do like the fact that
they're there because when you're going
down a hill, maybe when it's snowing
out, you could do a little bit of engine
braking using the paddle shifters. So,
you're kind of less likely to slip and
slide off the road. So, I like them for
that reason. However, there is a little
bit of delay. I'm not sure I would
actually use them, but also I do like
that they're not just a matte black
plastic like cheapy. They're they do
have a nice silver finish to them. Nice
smooth silver finish. So, they are on
the high-end side, which I am a big fan
of. And it's actually not shifting for
me. It's keeping it in this full manual
shift mode. If I just tap the drive
button one more time, it puts back full
control to the Palisad. But yeah, that's
pretty cool. They're not that bad. It's
just a little bit of a delay with the
reaction times, that's all. But it's to
be expected in a family SUV. Quite
honestly, I'm not sure who's going to be
using them. But anyways, let's go ahead
and find one more straightaway now with
the Palisade having full control. And
let's see how quickly we can now get our
2027 Hyundai Palisade here up to speed.
All right, think I found our
straightaway here. Let's go ahead and
give it a shot in 3 2 1.
[music]
It's okay. You're definitely not going
to have any issues emerging onto the
highway. It's not the quickest thing in
the world, but it is a naturally
aspirated V6, which you have to
appreciate because everything is
turbocharged these days, and typically
the naturally aspirated engines are
going to be a heck of a lot more
reliable than a turbocharged 4-cylinder.
So, I do like it for that reason. So,
for me personally, that's plenty of
power for a family SUV, and it's going
to be more reliable traditionally
because it's naturally aspirated. So, I
don't mind that. But anyways, to go
along with that, acceleration, as
always, braking is equally important.
So, up front you will find 13.6 in
ventilated front discs. At the back,
12.8 in solid rear discs. As far as that
60 stopping distance goes, that comes in
at a very respectable actually 125 ft,
which is pretty much par for the course.
That's like exactly average for the
class. That's where you want to be.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Anyways, typically 130 ft is more on the
higher side of things. Anything in the
11s is a sports sedan. So 125 ft right
where it should be for a three row SUV.
So let me get up to speed a little bit
more here and uh let's go ahead and test
out the braking feel here. I want to see
if it's a soft braking feel or more of a
firm braking feel. So let's go ahead and
hit the brakes here.
Soft. Definitely on the softer side of
things. Again, that's not a bad thing.
It's pretty much what I expected any
three row SUV to break like. So it is a
softer braking feel, just so you guys
know. height. Then touching on
suspension and handling, up front you're
going to get a independent strutt type
front suspension. In the back,
independent multi-link rear suspension,
front and rear stabilizer bars. Did want
to also mention there is a lifted
suspension for the XRT Protrim level
only. It actually gives it an extra inch
of ground clearance in case you were
curious about that. Overall, as far as
ride quality goes, I feel like that's
one of those things where Hyundai always
crushes it with when it comes to their
uh SUVs, their family SUVs, is it's a
pretty darn good ride quality. Like,
this is definitely a road trip mobile, a
road trip vehicle, whatever you want to
call it. It's plenty smooth. Even
without it having like an adaptive
damping suspension or anything fancy,
it's a plenty smooth ride. So, I don't
got any issues with that. As far as
steering feel goes, it does adjust
dependent upon the drive mode that you
put it in. And then the cool thing with
that my drive I was mentioning to you
guys is if you wanted that heavier
weight to the steering, but you didn't
want that instant acceleration that
comes with the sport driving mode, you
can configure that in the my drive with
that heavier weight without the instant
acceleration, so you can save some MPG.
So that's what I used to do on my old
Hyundai Sonata. I was definitely a fan
of that. So I like the customization
that Hyundai offers for that particular
reason. So steering feel is something
for everybody. As far as cabin noise
goes, we're going 35 miles per hour.
I'll be quiet for a second.
That was a Bumblebee mailbox. That was
hilarious. But anyways, cabin noise has
been plenty at bay. So, I don't I'm not
really getting any wind noise or cabin
noise or anything like that coming into
the cabin. They used to kind of be known
for that if I'm being honest. Even with
my Santa Fe that I still have, my 2017.
When you get up to higher speeds,
there's definitely some wind noise
coming into the cabin, but they've
definitely fixed that. Whatever they've
done, they've fixed it because this is a
plenty serene cabin now. I've got no
issues there. As far as visibility goes,
it's really honestly it's plenty fine
for me. And that could be due in part
because I got all the rows folded down
right now apparently. I'll put them up
for the interior portion so you guys can
see the leg room and all that stuff. But
yeah, I can see plenty fine out the
back. No issues there. Rain sensing
windshield wipers do come standard on
the Palisade. So whenever this thing
detects any kind of mist or rainfall,
it's going to automatically turn them
on. That's going to assist with forward
visibility. Also with forward visibility
though, there is a head-up display
available. We don't have it with uh this
particular trim level we have with us
here today. I think it actually just
comes in the calligraphy trim levels,
but that's going to display your speed,
speed limited, safety features up onto
your windshield, so you can better keep
your eyes on the road. So, you got to
appreciate that. Also, there is a rear
camera mirror available. Again, I think
it's just for the calligraphy. We don't
have it with us here today, but that's
going to be cool because when you pile
up the cargo area to the ceiling when
you're going on a road trip in this
thing, the camera's on the outside of
the vehicle. So, when you just put that
rear camera mirror on, you can still see
who or what is behind you. So, that's
pretty cool for visibility, too. But
that pretty much rounds out the
performance segment of this review, you
guys. Let's now go ahead and take a look
at the exterior now of our brand new
2027
Hyundai Palisade. All right, so here she
is, you guys. The new 2027 Hyundai
Palisade finished in Pacific Sapphire.
Pretty darn cool looking color, if you
ask me. I actually really like it. Let
me know what you guys think in the
comments. But as always, let's go ahead
and start with where the Palisade is
made. Taking a look at the VIN, first
character is the letter K, indicating
that the Hyundai Palisade is built and
assembled in Korea, as expected, and
that's awesome. But let's go ahead and
start up front on this one. LED
headlights with LED daytime running
lights. You also get the automatic
feature. You also get automatic high
beams as well. So, if you have your high
beams on at night and it senses a
vehicle coming in the opposite
direction, it's going to automatically
dim them back to low beams. that when
the vehicle is gone, it's going to
automatically bounce back up the high
beams for you. Pretty darn convenient
feature. I love using it personally. And
you get active grill shutters at the
very bottom. Let me get up a little bit
closer while the engine is on here. You
guys can see them. They're actually open
allowing the engine to breathe a little
bit more. But if I were to turn the car
off, turn the engine off. They would
probably shut because it wouldn't need
that additional cooling to the engine.
So, that's how they work. That's pretty
convenient. But that pretty much rounds
out the front end of this one. Let's now
go ahead and swing around to the side.
It's up and asked us to be our round to
the side of the Palisades. Starting all
the way to the top, silver roof rails
will come standard. Get some silver
upper window trim. You guys can see that
as well. Rear privacy glass of course
also coming standard. Taking a look at
the side mirrors. They are bodycoled
power adjustable side mirrors. They will
be heated with LED integrated turd
signals. You got to appreciate that.
Going to have a little bit of a silver
accent to the side skirts and then you
got the matte black just below that.
Then take a look down at the wheel
setup. The wheel setup really is going
to differ pretty substantially dependent
upon the trim levels, ranging from 18 in
to 21 in in size. Actually kind of like
the design to the wheel setup that we
have with us here today. But anyways,
that pretty much rounds out the side
profile here. Let's now go ahead and
swing around to the back. All right, so
now since we are around to the back of
the Palisades, starting all the way to
the top, I believe that is a gloss black
shark fin antenna. Either that or body
colored. I can't really tell honestly.
But anyways, there is a rear spoiler
back there as well. If you're wondering
where the rear window wiper is, because
it is not affixed to the rear glass, it
is actually tucked up underneath. You
guys could probably see that. So, it
kind of helps with visibility, rear
visibility for the driver. So, that's
kind of nice, I suppose. LED tail lights
do come standard on the Palisade. You
guys can see those. Towing capacity in
case you're curious, cuz we do have a
towing package with us here today that
comes in at an even 5,000 lb. And then
just below it all, there is a single
exhaust outlet. It is tucked away
underneath. I wish they would have
exposed that, made it look cool like
they do with the Santa Fe, but
nonetheless, it's still there. And I do
believe you guys know what we have to do
next here. As always, here is that
exhaust clip.
All right, so now since we are around to
the back of the Palisade, when it comes
to opening that rear tailgate, it is
going to be a power tailgate, so you got
to appreciate that. There is a button on
the key fob. There, of course, is a
button on the tailgate itself then as
well. But once opened up, cargo capacity
behind that third row is going to come
in at 19.1 cubic feet. If that was not
enough space, of course, the third row
does pull down. That's going to bump
that up to 43.6 cubic feet. And then
with all rows folded, 86.7 cubic feet.
You got some grocery bag hooks back
there. There is in flooror storage. And
then if you're wondering where the spare
tire is located, that is located up
underneath of the palisade kind of next
to the exhaust there. But then making
our way up to the third row legroom that
comes in at 31.4 in for reference. I
mean, even 6 ft tall. This is how much
space I had in the third row. And
traditionally, you can always move that
second row forward a little bit if you
did have an adult in the third row to
give them a little more space. There is
rear ventilation for the third row
passengers. rear USB charging ports. Um,
also coming standard back there, you got
some cup holders, of course, and a
heated third row is actually available,
although of course we don't have it with
us here today. But then making our way
up to the second row legroom that comes
in at 43 in. That's pretty substantial
for reference. I mean, even 6 ft tall.
This is how much space I had in the
second row. Now, then you're going to
have your choice of either bench seating
or captain's chairs. We have the
captain's chairs option with us here on
our seal premium trim level we have with
us here today. I like the captain's
chairs. That's It's probably what I
would pick. Um, heated second row. Comes
with the seal premium trim. Level it up.
That's pretty cool. Get to spoil the
rear passengers a little bit. There is
I'm going to call it a trash band. It
could be just used for storage as well.
But it's one of those things. I'm going
to show that to you guys. USB charging
ports for the second row passengers. And
side window sun shades. You got to
appreciate that is whenever you get
Chick-fil-A and you pull into the
parking lot, the sun is always in one of
your kids' faces. And uh the side window
sun shades kind of help out with that.
Then making our way up to the front
seats. Manually adjustable front seats
do come standard. Power adjustable front
seats are going to be available. Power
adjustable heated front seats for the
seal trim level and up. Ventilated front
seats for the seal premium trim level
and up. Massaging front seats for the
calligraphy. Got to appreciate that.
Calligraphy also gives you power side
bolsters and power thigh extensions as
well. But overall, as far as seat
comfort goes, this is actually plenty
fine. I didn't have any issues with
that. I love the design to it, too. It's
kind of a unique design uh as far as the
stitching goes within the seat itself.
So, that was pretty cool. But then
making our way to the steering wheel, it
is tilt and telescoping. It is leather
wrapped and it is going to be heated for
the seal premium trim level and up. And
it's actually white, too. It's the same
color as the seats. That kind of
surprised me. You traditionally don't
find white steering wheels. So, I
thought that was kind of cool. But now,
let's go ahead and make our way to the
startup. Let me start by showing you
guys the key here. It is a eggshaped
Hyundai key. You guys see the H within
the key itself. That's how that works.
But you got lock, unlock. The uh button
to pop the rear tailgate is on the side
of the key. But then the remote start,
the hold button, uh that's obviously a
remote start. That comes standard as
well. But it is all keyless entry with a
push button start. So all I am going to
do here, this is a little bit different
if you're not used to Hyundai, is put
your foot on the brake and press that
engine start button, which is located on
the kind of shifter stalk coming out of
the steering wheel. So, it's an
interesting placement, but once started
up, there's a 12.3 in digital gauge
cluster. And it actually is a very nice
gauge cluster. Now, the only thing
that's a little bit wonky is that to
adjust the look of the gauge cluster,
you have to do it through the
infotainment screen as opposed to like
some steering wheel mounted controls or
something like that, which is
traditionally the easier route. But, I
guess how often do you really adjust it,
I guess, is uh is their point. But,
anyways, there's different looks. Like,
there's a simple look, there's a modern
look, and then there's a classic look. I
personally like the classic look. And
then there's different colors as well.
You can link the colors to the drive
modes, which is probably what most
people are going to do. But then there's
also uh style A, B, and C for different
looks. Uh the sport driving mode is kind
of a cool look, but there's al style B
is kind of like the eco look, I think.
I'm just going to link it to drive mode,
but there is some customization there,
so I like that. Gives you how many miles
you have left until you hit empty.
There, of course, is your blind spot
view monitor. I'm going to turn on the
turn signal there to show that to you
guys. That is pretty darn cool. That's
going to assist with visibility there,
too. So, I liked that a lot. But
overall, wonderful job with the gauge
cluster, Hyundai. But now, let's go
ahead and make our way. Overall,
interior quality. Let me start with the
power sunroof up here. Power moon roof,
actually, it looks like. So, I like
that. That's pretty cool. A panoramic
sunroof is available. A home link
controls up to three different garage
doors can be found in the bottom portion
of this frameless rearview mirror here.
Wireless phone charger located just to
the left of the cup holders up here. You
get 64 colors of ambient lighting as
well. So, the way the ambient lighting
works is you can link it to the drive
mode if you wanted to or you can just
customize it. And I just customized it.
So, that is pretty cool. I like that.
That's uh I turned the brightness all
the way up as well there. Uh probably
still not going to be able to see it cuz
it's bright and sunny today. But
anyways, there is a bunch of storage
underneath of the wireless phone charger
here as well. So, if you got a purse or
something you want to kind of conceal a
little bit, you got a little bit of
space there. Also down there is a 12volt
power outlet. Little bit of shelf
storage just above that. Uh again, just
to the right of the wireless phone
charger, you got your cup holders, bunch
of USB charging ports just in front of
that. And then within this center
armrest, it's a decent amount of space
in there. Nothing too crazy, but I do
like that as well. You got your glove
box down here. A little bit of shelf
storage just above that. I love the
matte wood trim found on the dash here.
I think that's a pretty cool look as
well. Um even the door handles to open
the door. It's kind of like a throwback
kind of like I don't know ' 60s theme or
something like that. That's pretty cool.
Oh, I see the ambient lighting now and
the doors. That's pretty cool. I like
that. That turned out pretty good.
Overall, I think interior quality was
done pretty darn good. Like uh with the
wood trim and the light color,
everything. This is definitely not too
bad. I like it. But now, let's go ahead
and make our way to the infotainment
screen. This is a 12.3 in touchscreen
display. You get Bluetooth and audio
streaming, wireless Android Auto, Apple
CarPlay, factory navigation system up
there. It looks like Hyundai did away
with the voice memo system for 2027. I
don't see that anymore. Let me see if
there's the dash cam icon I saw last
year. I don't see that either, actually.
Um, you got your drive modes up there,
of course. I still see the weather
information and sports information. So,
that's good that that is up there, I
suppose. And of course, your radio
information. So, when it comes to the
sound systems, there's two of them. Uh,
the first sound system is an eight-
speakeraker sound system. That goes for
the SE, seal, seal convenience, and seal
premium. Then you got the 14 speaker
Bose sound system. That's for the XRT
Pro Limited and calligraphy. So with us
here today, we got the eight speaker
sound system. So let's go ahead and turn
on the radio. Let's see what we got
playing today. And let's test out the
clarity of this one. [music]
It's not that bad actually. The clarity
was pretty decent. Not a ton of bass
with the eight speaker sound system, but
it's enough to get the job done. I mean,
this is a family vehicle anyways. You're
really going to be like blasting the
eardrums of the kids in the back.
Anyways, last thing I want to mention to
you guys on that infotainment screen is
when you do put the Palisade in reverse,
you will find a pretty darn
highdeinition rear view camera coming
standard across the board. You got the
360°ree monitor there to the right as
well, giving you that bird's eye view,
letting you know who or what is
completely all around you, which is
always going to lead us into safety. And
so, let me start with the best part, cuz
this wasn't rated last year when I
reviewed this, but IHS did give this a
top safety pick plus award, which is the
very highest designation given by IHS.
So, super ridiculously safe. But front
side, side current airbags, of course,
drivers knee airbags, rear side impact
airbags. That one usually doesn't come
standard on others, but also in the back
you got latch aka lower anchors and
tethers for children for the rear car
seats, rear child door locks, tire
pressure monitoring system, but also
coming standard a blind spot monitoring
system with rear cross traffic alert,
lane keep assist, lane departure
warning, forward collision mitigation,
front and rear parking sensors coming
standard. You got to appreciate that.
Driver attention monitoring system and
an incredible adaptive cruise control
system with stop and go. It really is
like Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, they did an
amazing job with that. But overall, when
it comes to my final thoughts, for one,
you got to appreciate the brilliant
warranty. 5 years, 60,000 mi, 10 years,
100,000 mi on the powertrain. That is
America's best warranty. It does not get
any better than that. Very nice interior
finishes. I just went over that. Very
stately appearance. I'll call it that
stately design. So, I'm a big fan of the
design of this one. Uh Premium, I think,
is the best value in my opinion. the
trim level that we have with us here
today, especially with the captain's
chairs. Like, I would probably pick this
exact vehicle if I were getting the
Palisade. I love the exterior color as
well. But the reason I say that is the
Seal Premium adds the most on the trim
level levels, I guess you could say. So,
it gives you the ventilated front seats,
heated rear seats, heated steering
wheel, the 360° monitor. So, it really
is the best trim in my personal opinion.
But I think the only room for
improvement I can think of for the
Palisade is uh it's not really
necessarily even the Palisad's fault is
I think Hyundai needs to make something
a little bit bigger. So this is their
largest SUV and it comes in at uh what
did I say 87 or 88 cubic feet which
which is nice. I mean but it doesn't
compete with like the Grand Highlander
which gives you 100 or the Chevy
Traverse or the Volkswagen Atlas. A lot
of Americans really want their bigger
SUVs and uh that doesn't even count the
like the the Tahoe and the Suburban,
although that's a lot pricier, but I
really think Hyundai either needs that
or they need like a minivan to compete
with the Sienna and the Honda Odyssey
and uh things like that. But I guess you
got the Kia Carnival for that. That's
kind of their addition on the uh Korean
side of things. But anyways, let me know
what you guys think of the Palisade in
the comments section below. I do love
reading your comments. That's about it
for this one, you guys. Thank you so
much for watching. Feel free to follow
me on social media stuff. Be sure to hit
the subscribe and the bell notification
button. Do appreciate you guys watching
more than you know and I will see you
guys all in the next video.
Stay gold.
