Video summary
The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse is presented as a substantial three-row SUV that competes directly with rivals like the Volkswagen Atlas, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Lexus TX. For the 2027 model year, Chevrolet has introduced two striking new exterior colors: Twilight Blue and Trillium Green Metallic, alongside several mechanical updates. The vehicle is powered by a single 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 328 horsepower, which sends power to either the front or all wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Despite its size, the RS trim tested in the video accelerates from zero to 60 mph in approximately 7.3 seconds with surprisingly little turbo lag, while braking performance is highlighted as exceptional, achieving a 60-0 stopping distance of just 114 feet.
Inside the cabin, the Traverse offers a highly customizable digital experience centered around an 11-inch configurable gauge cluster and a massive 17.7-inch high-definition infotainment screen that controls climate settings, navigation via Google Maps, and vehicle statistics. The interior quality is praised for its smooth ride comfort, which feels superior to many competitors despite lacking adaptive damping or air suspension. Practicality is a major strength, with the RS trim featuring red interior accents, heated front seats, and captain's chairs in the second row. Cargo space is best-in-class when all rows are folded, offering 97.6 cubic feet of volume, and rear passenger legroom is generous enough to comfortably accommodate a six-foot adult.
Safety and technology features are extensive across all trim levels, earning the vehicle an IIHS Top Safety Pick designation. Standard equipment includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot steering assist, and a comprehensive suite of driver aids like traffic sign recognition and rear cross-traffic braking. The infotainment system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while a 10-speaker Bose sound system is available on higher trims to provide clear audio with strong bass. Additional conveniences include rain-sensing wipers on top trims, a panoramic sunroof as an option, and hidden storage compartments beneath the cup holders.
While the reviewer appreciates the new design elements and spacious layout, there is one notable suggestion for improvement: the addition of a hybrid powertrain option to compete with the fuel efficiency of rivals like the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid. Currently, the RS trim tested costs around $62,000, placing it in direct price competition with the Lexus TX, though the reviewer personally feels the LT trim might offer better value. Ultimately, the 2027 Traverse is lauded for its brilliant new colors, impressive cargo capacity, and robust safety features, making it a compelling choice in the large SUV segment despite the lack of a hybrid variant.

>> If you really need to channel I am
Quinton car truck SUV reviews on YouTube
and today we are in the brand new 2027
Chevy Traverse courtesy of Lawrence
Chevrolet in Mechanicsburg PA for more
information on their inventory. Please
feel free to check out the link in the
description box below. It's a this is a
large three-row SUV from Chevrolet
competes with the Volkswagen Atlas,
Toyota Grand Highlander, Lexus TX just
to name a few and there's actually
plenty of changes for the 2027 model
year as well. So ultimately in this
video we will be testing out and going
over everything about this one from
acceleration and braking steering feel
ride quality sound system exhaust clip
all that fun stuff. So having said all
of that, what do you guys say? Let's
just go ahead and jump right into it and
as always let's start with pricing. And
so as you can imagine there are several
different trim levels for the 2027
Traverse. You got the LT starting at
$42,795,
Z71 all-wheel drive for $51,095,
you got the RS which is the one we are
in today. This one starts at $57,795
and lastly the high country starting at
$58,095.
And so front-wheel drive is the standard
configuration for all trim levels but
that Z71 that one comes standard with
all-wheel drive. However, you can get
all-wheel drive on any of those other
trim levels as well. If you wanted to do
that simply add $2,000 then to any of
those prices. But regardless of the trim
level that you go with the power plant
on the Traverse is going to be the same.
Powering the beast is a 2.5 L
turbocharged four-cylinder. This puts
out 328 horsepower at 5500 RPM, 326 lb
feet of torque coming in at 3500 RPM.
That power being sent to the front
wheels or all-wheels through an
eight-speed automatic with paddle
shifters. But zero to 60 time
approximately 7.3 seconds that's
respectable with MPG numbers coming in
at 20 in the city, 27 on the highway for
the front-wheel drive, 19 city, 25 then
on the highway for the all-wheel drive
taking regular unleaded fuel. It's a
before we do any kind of fun
acceleration or paddle shifter test here
in the Traverse. I did want to mention
to you guys the drive modes. As their
drive mode button is actually located by
the driver's side left knee. That's
probably the last place we'd actually
look for that one, but that gives you
normal, sport, off-road, snow and ice,
and tow and haul adjusting things like
the shift points and throttle response,
steering sensitivity, and the all-wheel
drive system engagement then as well.
All right, so now that we have gotten
all that out of the way, I've found a
straight away. Let's go ahead and do an
acceleration test, and let's see how
quickly we can get this one here up to
speed. I am in sport driving mode in 3 2
1 go.
Nice.
Very little delay there, which is kind
of surprising for a turbocharged
four-cylinder. This thing's actually
pulling pretty hard. There's no issues
with that, guys. That's plenty of an
acceleration to merge onto the highway.
That honestly really surprised me cuz
this is a dang big SUV, and uh there was
no turbo lag, either, which is kind of
weird. Like I really expect the turbo
lag there because turbocharged
four-cylinder, after all, you almost
always get it, but that's a dang good
acceleration. So, I actually like that.
Well done, Chevy. But, anyways, to go
along with that acceleration, as always,
braking is equally important. And so, up
front you will find 12.6-in ventilated
front discs. In the back, 12.4-in solid
rear discs. As far as that 60-0 stopping
distance goes, that comes in at an
insanely respectable 114 ft. That's a
sport sedan number. Typically, anything
in the 110s is a sport sedan. Usually,
what you see for this is like mid-120s,
if not 130s, like the Volkswagen Atlas.
But, 114 ft, that's some dang intense
stopping power. So, speaking of, as far
as braking feel goes,
it's weird. Now, the number itself is
brilliant. Now, it's on the firm side of
things, but I feel like it didn't come
to as quick of a stop as that 114-ft
number would lead me to believe. So, I
don't know. I don't mind it. Um the
number itself is absolutely amazing.
I'll just leave it at that. But anyways,
then touching on suspension and
handling, up front you're going to get a
McPherson strut front suspension. In the
back, independent five-link rear
suspension. You're going to get a
sportier suspension tune for the RS that
we have with us here today. So, that's
pretty cool. And a slightly lifted
suspension for the Z71 cuz that's kind
of the off-road trim, of course. But
overall, as far as ride quality goes,
that's literally the first thing I
noticed when I first started driving
this one. Ridiculously smooth. Like
super smooth ride here in this thing.
So, actually kind of surprised me cuz
it's not like this has an adaptive
damping suspension or an air suspension
or anything like that, but it's still a
dang smooth ride. Like Chevy's crushing
it. Um as far as steering feel goes,
that does adjust dependent upon the
drive mode that you put it in. I still
have it in that sport driving mode, and
it's a pretty darn heavy weight to the
steering. It still points you in the
direction that you want to go. If you
wanted a more traditional kind of
steering feel, I'm going to go ahead and
put it back in normal, and it 100%
loosens up. So, it's more of a
traditional SUV at that point. So, you
got something for everybody there. As
far as cabin noise goes, we're sitting
at a red light right now, so it's going
to be ridiculously quiet. Honestly
though, it's been perfectly fine in my
short little test drive here today when
it comes to cabin noise. So, I haven't
had any issues with that. Let's take a
look at rear visibility as I am still
sitting at this red light here. I
actually can see perfectly fine, and
that may be due in part because I have
the third row folded down right now. So,
obviously if the third row is not in
use, you could fold that down, and the
head rest aren't going to be impeding on
that rear visibility, but um it's
actually really good, actually. So, I
don't have any issues with rear
visibility. The other thing is touching
on forward visibility a little bit is
that rain-sensing windshield wipers do
come standard on the RS and the High
Country trim levels. That's how you're
going to go ahead and get them. So,
wanted to mention that because they're
pretty cool. Whenever this thing detects
any kind of mist or rainfall, it's going
to automatically turn on this windshield
wipers. Kind of like automatic
headlights, just one less thing you got
to worry about there. And again, it's
just for those two trim levels, those
two top trim levels. That's how you're
going to go ahead and get that one. But,
that pretty much rounds out the
performance segment of this review,
guys. Now, let's go ahead and make our
way to the exterior. And little spoiler
alert here, you guys probably already
saw the thumbnail. We got one of the new
colors for 2027, and it's dang
good-looking. It's like a teal. I'll
give you the exact color in a second
here, but let's check it out. All right,
so here she is, you guys, the new 2027
Chevy Traverse finished in Twilight
Blue, which is one of the two new colors
for the 2027 model year. The other one
is called Trillium Green Metallic. Both
of them look absolutely amazing. Some
two absolutely amazing color choices
there, but anyways, as always, let's go
ahead and start with where the Traverse
is made. Taking a look at the VIN, first
character is the number one, indicating
that the Traverse is built and assembled
here in the US, specifically Michigan,
in case you were curious. But, starting
up front, you will find a gloss black
front grille does come standard. The RS
badging can be found within it if you go
with the RS trim level, of course. Z71
badging for the Z71 trim level,
obviously. To the sides, LED headlights
with LED daytime running lights. You get
the automatic feature with those. You
get automatic high beams as well. So, if
you have your high beams on at night, it
senses a vehicle coming in the opposite
direction, it's going to automatically
dim them back to low beams. And when
that vehicle is gone, it's going to
automatically bounce it back up to high
beams for you there. You get red
recovery hooks if you were to go with
that Z71 trim level only, so that's
pretty cool. Uh front air curtains to
the corners there, helping direct air
around the wheel and tire combination.
Then, as far as ground clearance goes,
I'll get down a little bit here, but
ground clearance comes in at 7.5 in for
the Traverse. The Z71 bumps up to 7.7 in
then. But, that pretty much rounds out
the front end of this one. Let's now go
ahead and swing around to the side. All
right, so then else this we are around
to the side of this one. Roof rails will
come standard on the Traverse, of
course. Rear privacy glass also coming
standard. Get the Traverse lettering
found on the front doors there in
typical Chevy fashion, of course. Power
adjustable heated side mirrors, you're
going to get LED integrated turn signals
in as well. Then taking a look down at
the wheel setup, there's actually five
new wheel designs available for the 2027
model year. So, a little bit of newness
there, but 18-in machine faced aluminum
alloys for the LT. 18-in gloss black
machine faced aluminum wheels for the
Z71. Going to get 18-in gloss black
painted aluminum wheels for the RS. And
then 22-in gloss black wheels for the
High Country. But, that pretty much
rounds out the side profile. Let's now
go ahead and swing around to the back.
All right, so now as we are around to
the back of this one, starting all the
way to the top, we do have a body
colored shark fin antenna. Just below
that, you got the rear spoiler with an
integrated brake light. You got the rear
window wiper fixed to the rear glass
then. LED tail lights do come standard.
Trim level badging, of course, found in
the back there as well. It's kind of
hidden in the shadows a little bit, so
you might not be able to see it. But,
anyways, just below it all, one of my
favorite parts about the back here. This
looks dang good. Dual exhaust outlets
with quad tips. Who puts quad tips on an
SUV? Somebody who loves the design. I
think it looks amazing. But, having said
that, I do believe you guys know what we
have to do next here.
As always, here is that exhaust clip.
All right, so now as we are around to
the back of the Traverse, when it comes
to opening that rear liftgate, it is
going to be a power liftgate for all
trim levels across the board, so you got
to appreciate that. There is a button on
the key fob then. There is a rubberized
button on the liftgate itself then as
well. But, once opened up, cargo
capacity behind that third row comes in
at 22.9 cubic feet. That's actually
pretty good. If that was not enough
space, of course, the third row does
fold down. That was going to bump that
up to 56.6 cubic feet. By the way, there
are some buttons in the cargo area to
fold that third row down. So, that made
that even easier. And then with all rows
folded, 97.6
cubic feet, which is best in class. That
is better than the Toyota Grand
Highlander and Volkswagen Atlas as well.
So, that's definitely impressive. Got
some chrome-plated tie-down anchors back
there. There's a 12-V power outlet. Then
if you were to lift up underneath of
that cargo floor, you will find in-floor
storage, which is always nice to see
then as well. But, then making your way
up to the rear legroom, that comes in at
32.1 inches. For reference, I'm an even
6 ft tall. This is how much space I had
in the third row there. And of course,
with the second and third row, the
second row does move forward. So, if
there was third row passengers, you
could probably move that second row
forward a little bit to make a little
bit of extra space for the third row
passenger if you needed to. But, LED
interior lighting back there, rear
ventilation, got cup holders and USB
charging ports then as well. But, then
making your way up to the second row
legroom, that comes in at 41.4 inches.
That's luxury-like. You got to
appreciate that. For reference, I'm
still an even 6 ft tall. This is how
much space I had in the second row
there. Captain's chairs actually do come
standard and plenty of space between the
two center passengers if you got kids
that like fighting or whatever. They got
armrests, too. That's always nice. I
like that. Tri-zone climate control
coming standard. USB charging ports back
there. There's a 12-V power outlet.
There's no side window sunshades. I was
looking for that. It's probably the only
thing that's missing. I mean, the tint
might be dark enough. It might not
matter, but would have liked to have
seen them, I guess. But, heated second
row then coming with the high country
and the RS trim levels if you wanted to
spoil the second row passengers a little
bit. But, then making your way up to the
front seats, cloth seating for the LT
and Z71 trims. Eight-way power driver
seat with power lumbar coming standard.
Heated front seats actually do come
standard as well. Perforated leather for
the high country and RS trim levels.
Ventilated front seats for the High
Country and RS trim levels then as well.
And I like the RS lettering found in the
headrest. I'm sure the High Country is
probably going to have the same if I
were to guess, but um yeah, overall as
far as seat comfort goes, it's actually
plenty comfortable. I didn't have any
issues there. But now let's go ahead and
take a look at the steering wheel cuz
Chevy always does a really good job with
their steering wheels. It is tilt and
telescoping. It's going to be power
adjustable for the High Country and RS
trim levels. Leather-wrapped steering
wheel actually does come standard. I
like that. And actually heated steering
wheel comes standard as well. That's
crazy. You usually don't find that. And
I like the RS logo found in the bottom
portion of it then as well. But then
making our way to the startup, let me
start by showing you guys the key. You
got your bowtie logo on the one side.
Then when you flip it over, lock,
unlock, the button to pop the rear
liftgate there, and the times two button
is a remote start, which also comes
standard on all trim levels across the
board. So, that's pretty cool. But it is
all keyless entry with a push-button
start. So, all I'm going to do here is
simply put my foot on the brake and
press that engine start button located
just by the driver's right knee. So,
once started up, gauge cluster is
definitely done well. This is an 11-in
digital gauge cluster, and uh there are
steering wheel mounted controls found on
the right side of the steering wheel.
It's the two kind of squares, maybe the
rectangles, I can't tell, but um two
squares on the right-hand side of the
steering wheel. You can adjust what is
displayed up there. There's like a full
navigation setup uh if you wanted to
have that, and that's powered by Google
Maps. It says Google in the bottom of it
there. Uh there's like a safety kind of
display. There's a minimalist kind of
display with just the digital readout.
And then there's kind of a sportier look
with the digital readout inside of the
tachometer. That's probably what I would
leave it on. I think that looks pretty
darn good. But I like that there's
customization within the digital gauge
cluster here because you don't always
get that even on digital gauge clusters,
believe it or not. It's kind of
reminiscent of Audi to me, like that
Audi virtual cockpit, and uh I just
think it looks good. They did a really
good job with that. But it gives you
things like how many miles you have left
until you hit empty. Uh outside
temperature is up there as well. So,
pretty much everything you could
possibly need up there. So, then making
our way to overall interior quality, a
panoramic sunroof is going to be
optional on all trim levels across the
board. It is an option that we have with
us here today. So, that's pretty cool.
Overhead sunglass holder also comes
standard. I know it's a sunglass holder
cuz it has a picture of sunglasses on
it. So, can't put anything else up
there. Universal home remote does come
standard. That's for up to three
different garage doors found in the
bottom portion of this frameless
rearview mirror. I love that as well.
Now, red interior detail for the RS trim
level, I got a little bit of an issue
with that. I get that the RS is supposed
to be kind of sportier. I would have
switched that up to a lot of black
interior detail and then this red trim
found on the dash and the doors, I would
have made that black but with like a
see-through ambient lighting color that
shined through like Mercedes-Benz does
is what I'm thinking. That way, if you
have like a blue exterior, you don't
have to try to match it up with the red
interior. It doesn't necessarily go. I
would have loved to have seen like a
blue interior to match our blue
exterior, but uh, that's the best with
customization. So, I don't know. Just
just a thought. Anyways, you do get a
more luxurious interior trim for the
2027 High Country. That's one of the
changes as well. Obviously, we got the
RS, so I can't really show that to you
guys, but wireless phone charger does
come standard. That's located just in
front of the cup holders here. Of
course, you got the cup holders just
behind that. Everything surrounding that
is finished in a nice gloss black.
That's kind of high-endish to me. Little
bit of storage just behind the cup
holders there, too. And then within the
center armrest, there's an absolute ton
of storage within that center armrest.
This is a big SUV. I guess that makes
sense. And one of my favorite parts
about the interior here is that there is
hidden storage found underneath of the
cup holders. So, uh, you can put a purse
down there. Um, if you want to kind of
keep it hidden and out of the way. Um,
really, you can put whatever the heck
you want down there, but I love that
it's there cuz not all SUVs will give
you that, either. So, overall, as far as
interior quality goes, it's really good.
With the one exception that since this
is the RS trim level, you're forced to
get the red interior. I would have liked
to have had a blue one because we got
the blue exterior, but anyways, that's
just me. Now, let's go ahead and take a
look at this massive, ridiculously
massive infotainment screen. This is a
17.7-in
high-definition TV, and it comes with
Bluetooth and audio streaming, wireless
Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, climate
control settings up there, multi-color
ambient lighting settings. You got to
appreciate that. I always like playing
around with the ambient lighting, but
anyways, you can check out vehicle
statistics up there. This is also where
you can turn on your headlights
permanently, or you can just leave it on
auto. So, there's not like a physical
button for them on the stalk of the
steering wheel or anything like that.
It's all done through the infotainment
screen. Not sure how I feel about that,
but it is what it is. You probably just
leave it on auto and never touch it,
honestly. But, then of course, you got
your radio information up there as well.
So, when it comes to the sound systems,
there's actually two of them. You get
six speakers for the LT and Z71 trims,
and then a 10-speaker Bose sound system
for the RS and the High Country. So,
therefore, we got the Bose sound system
with us here today. So, let's go ahead
and turn on the radio, see what we got
playing today, and let's test out the
clarity of this one.
It's kind of a pretty song. I didn't
mind that. Um, plenty of bass.
Absolutely no issues when it comes to
the bass. So, that was really good.
Plenty of clarity as well. Honestly,
that's not a bad sound system. And I've
had a Bose sound system in my Infiniti
G35 coupe back in the day. It never
failed me. It was extremely reliable.
So, there's nothing wrong with Bose.
That's a really good sound system for
this thing. But, last thing I wanted to
mention to you guys on that infotainment
screen is when you do put the Traverse
in reverse, that's really funny. Uh, you
do get extremely high-definition
rearview camera coming standard across
the board. Also, that 360-degree monitor
there to the left as well, which is
super nice, letting you know who or what
is completely all around you, which is
always is going to lead us into safety.
So, let me start with the best part.
This one actually is an IIHS Top Safety
Pick. So, wonderful start right there.
Front, side, side curtain airbags. in
the back you got latch aka lower anchors
and tethers to your children for the
rear car seats. Rear child door locks,
tire pressure monitoring system, but
also coming standard so much advanced
safety. It's pretty ridiculous. Forward
collision alert, rear parking sensors,
rear cross traffic braking, speed limit
assist, traffic sign recognition, teen
driver mode which prevents your teen
driver from turning off the safety
features. In the event that they were to
do that it gets logged in the system so
that you know about it. Blind spot
steering assist, automatic emergency
braking lane keep assist and lane
departure warning then as well. So
overall, what it comes to my final
thoughts here, brilliant two new colors.
You get either of those two new colors
and that's amazing. Like wonderful. I
love bright colors and more unique
colors as opposed to the black, the
white, and the gray. So I'm a big fan of
this twilight blue we have with us here
today. Tons of space as well. Like I
said, most in class is definitely nice.
Very nice looking design. I think the
the major constructive criticism for me
on this one, not that there's anything
wrong with the turbocharged engine, but
I would have liked to have seen a hybrid
configuration just for better miles per
gallon because after all this SUV is
competing with the Grand Highlander
Hybrid, which essentially is the same
size of this but gives you 36 miles per
gallon with all-wheel drive. And so
that's going to save you a lot of money,
but I just want to see Chevy do that. Or
maybe they can just buy the rights to
that motor, plop it in the Traverse, and
then call it the Traverse Hybrid. And
nobody's probably ever going to know the
difference because that's what Mazda
does with Toyota engines. And uh
anyways, hybrid would be nice. thing is
this particular spec that we're in today
goes for $62,000,
which puts you at the same price point
of the Lexus TX. So then you got to ask
yourself, do you go with this or do you
go with the Lexus TX? Because again,
it's the same size SUV, but uh Lexus. So
I don't know. I kind of feel like the LT
trim level is the sweet spot on this
one. But anyways, let me know what you
guys think of the Traverse in the
comments. I do love reading your
comments. That's about it for this one,
you guys. Thank you so much for
