Video summary
In the first section of this lecture, the focus shifts to 1 Corinthians chapter two, specifically verses one through five, where the Apostle Paul emphasizes the necessity of proclaiming Jesus with power rather than relying on human eloquence or wisdom. Paul recounts his arrival in Corinth, noting that he deliberately chose not to use persuasive words, excellent speech, or his own extensive knowledge gained from studying under Gamaliel. Instead, he preached in weakness, fear, and trembling because he faced violent opposition and threats from the Jewish community there. This honesty about his vulnerability serves as a crucial lesson for believers today: ministry often involves facing real opposition that can cause fear, but God promises presence and protection even in such difficult times. The core message is that true transformation does not come from clever arguments or human intellect but from the demonstration of the Holy Spirit's power, ensuring that faith rests in God rather than in the wisdom of men.
The second part of the chapter, covering verses six through ten, introduces the concept of the gospel as a mystery that was hidden until revealed by the Holy Spirit. Paul explains that the rulers of this age crucified Jesus because they did not understand the divine plan for salvation; if they had known the true wisdom of God, they would not have killed the Lord of glory. This mystery—that God prepared great things for those who love Him which no eye has seen or ear heard—is only unveiled through the Spirit. The lecture draws a parallel between Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to convict the world and guide believers into all truth, and the believer's current need to commune with the Spirit to receive supernatural clarity. Just as one cannot know another person's thoughts without their own spirit, no one can know the things of God except by the Spirit of God who dwells within them.
Finally, the lecture concludes with verses eleven through sixteen, which highlight the unique role of the Holy Spirit as a teacher and the source of the "mind of Christ." Paul contrasts the natural man, who relies on physical senses and cannot receive spiritual truths because they appear foolish to him, with the spiritual man who is led by the Holy Spirit. Those who are spiritually led can discern right from wrong and judge all things correctly, yet they remain unjudged by anyone else. The ultimate goal of walking with the Holy Spirit is to possess the mind of Christ, allowing believers to think God's thoughts and see solutions that may seem foolish to human logic but are actually divine wisdom. The session ends by addressing a question about why anointing sometimes feels delayed, clarifying that while every believer is instantly anointed upon faith in Jesus, experiencing the full reality of God's power is a journey of spiritual maturity that requires consistent communion and patience as God reveals His will over time.

Okay, recording has started.
Okay, welcome again. Lecture number
four. Are we ready? Yes. So far so good.
1 Corinthians, are we learning? Learning
a lot. Okay, good. So, um we are going
to look at chapter number two uh for
this lecture. So, we'll cover the whole
chapter. uh you know yeah there are a
lot of verses uh not not too many verses
just 16 verses but we'll try and cover
it okay [snorts] so chapter number two
is covered into four sections okay so
the first five verses we're going to
look at why we need to proclaim Jesus
with power proclaiming the message with
power then the second uh section is
verse 6 to 10 uh where we will actually
the rest of the the whole chapter after
six is about the work of the Holy
Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit.
Okay. So, we will see how the Holy
Spirit works with us and uh what are his
attributes? How does he work? Okay. So,
that's what we're going to look at
chapter 2. Okay. So, can someone read
the first five verses? 1 Corinthians
chapter 2. The first five verses
either online, in person, anyone? Yeah.
Sukesh.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, did
not come with excellence of speech or of
wisdom, declaring to you the testimony
of God. For I determined not to know
anything among you, except Jesus Christ
and him him crucified. I was with you in
weakness, in fear, and in in much
trembling. and my speech and my
preaching were not with uh pursuous
words of human wisdom but in the
demonstration of spirit and of power uh
that your faith should uh should not be
in the wisdom of man but in the power of
God.
>> Amen. Yeah. So the first five verses.
Okay. So it's about
um it's about a posture and also to
preach Jesus with power. Okay. So let's
go each verse verse one. And I,
brethren, when I came to you, when Paul
came to Corenth, when I came to you, did
not come with excellence of speech or of
wisdom, declaring to you the testimony
of God. So when Paul came to Corinth,
when he started to preach in Corinth to
the believers, sorry, to the people
there, he did not use great speech,
eloquence of words. He didn't use his
own wisdom. Now who is Paul? He's very
wise. He studied under Galonian.
So you know think about in Bangalore the
bestin. It's like that he studied the
whole Old Testament under Galonian. And
you know he was so learned. So he had a
lot of wisdom. But he said I put that
aside. I didn't use my own wisdom nor
persuasive words nor excellence of
speech to declare the gospel. I just
declared the gospel because he realized
the gospel is the wisdom and power of
God as we saw last chapter. Right? So
you don't need to be so knowledgeable,
so wise. When you declare the gospel, it
contains the wisdom of God and the power
of God. So you know if you're thinking
oh man I can't speak well I don't have
good language or now it's good to keep
learning get better but never use that
as an excuse as a limitation for God not
to use you he can use you even with your
tongue right now
with your mouth God can still use you
because when you talk about Jesus when
you testify about him when you sing
about him the wisdom of God and the
power of God will be manifested will be
displayed. Amen. So don't allow the lie
of the enemy creep in. Oh I can't speak
well. You know sometimes we live in a
place and especially um Bible college or
wherever where we keep comparing.
I I speak well you speak well. What
about me?
They speak so well. you're so impressed
and you belittle yourself.
Don't do that. Right? So Paul is saying,
see, imagine for Paul to say like I'm
not using my wisdom
like all those years.
Now we will see how he uses it. But what
he's saying is above everything, the
message of the cross is more important
to me than my own wisdom. Okay, so
that's verse number one. Paul could have
used his own wisdom, but he didn't. In
fact, he says in in Philippians chapter
3, I count all of those things as loss.
Like nothing compares to the message of
Jesus.
Nothing comes close,
no wisdom on this earth, no book on this
earth can come close to the message of
the cross, message of the gospel. Amen.
And that should be our posture. That
should be our heart posture. Verse two,
amazing verse. Amazing verse. Verse two.
1 Corinthians chapter 2:2. For I
determined not to know anything among
you except Jesus Christ and him
crucified.
Ah this is so so amazing. He says I
don't want to know anything among you.
All your arguments, all your thinking,
all your expectations. I only want to
know about Jesus and what he has done
for me on the cross.
May that be also our desire. Wherever we
go, let's not get so entangled with
news, with gossip, with people's
stories, with debates. Above everything,
I only want to know more and more about
Jesus and what he has done for me on the
cross. So in church whenever you lead a
ministry right focus your conversations
around that.
Testify about Jesus. Talk about him
more. Amplify him. Not our own stories,
not our own debates, not our own
arguments,
not our own questions. Yeah, we should
answer all questions but above all keep
Jesus as a center. So he says I
determined meaning I made a choice. I
determined meaning you have to make a
choice in this because the world has
enough news to talk about enough debates
enough arguments but what Paul is saying
here is I have determined
I made a choice. You can't shake me on
this to know Jesus to know nothing to
know anything among you except Jesus
Christ and him crucified. So he
determined to stay away from any other
thing.
Right? Now let me ask you a question.
Did Paul argue? Yes, he did. In Acts he
went to the synagogues. He argued. But
even in his argument, he only talked
about Jesus.
So even in your argument, your news,
your stories, your whatever you talk
about Jesus in Acts chapter 18 verse 4
and 5. He went to the synagogue in
Corinth. He spoke to the Jews. He argued
with them from the scriptures. But in
his argument, in his in his whatever
message, he focused it on Jesus. Nothing
else. So even in your argument even so
because of course Paul is not saying you
should not argue with people or you
should not be in dialogue or in
conversation with people but even in
your conversation
you point them to Christ. Amen. See you
will see one thing in the life of Paul
the apostle Paul the only thing that
matter mattered to him was Jesus. That's
what that was his whole life. Like his
whole life, his speech, his actions, his
church planting, his message, his
preaching, everything was about Jesus.
Nothing else. May that be we also, we
also should be like that as leaders, as
ministries, let it be about Christ.
Amen. [snorts] Now verse three. Verse
three. Verse three, he is talking about
his condition in Corinth. How he came.
Okay, think about this. Verse three, I
was with you in weakness, in fear, and
in much trembling. Where is this coming
from? Acts chapter 18. Go to Acts
chapter 18.
Acts chapter 18.
Why? You will understand the condition
why he writes this. In Acts chapter 18,
Paul is in Corinth.
And there in verse 6, verse 5 and 6, the
Jews in Corinth
rejected him.
They really like violently rejected him.
They were real threats. They were
threatening him. That's why he's very
honest. In verse three, 1 Corinthians
chapter 2:3, he said, "I was with you in
weakness. I felt weak in fear meaning
there were threats against me and in
trembling. See in ministry
you will face opposition.
Are you understanding? Paul also faced
he is talking about a real feeling.
I I was with you in Corenth. Three
things he writes in weakness. I felt
weak at some points. He says, "I was in
fear
and I was in much trembling because they
opposed him."
They opposed the work of what he was
trying to do. They were violently
opposing him. And this is recorded in
Acts chapter 18. So what does that mean?
What does that tell us? that in
ministry, in church planting, in you
know pursuing God's purpose, you will
face opposition. People will talk
against you. People will talk all kinds
of things. It's okay. And sometimes you
will feel you're weak. Sometimes you
will feel fearful. Sometimes you will
feel like you're trembling, you're
shaking.
We all think about Apostle Paul, right?
great like Superman. No, he's very
honest here. He's not Superman. He's
very real. But look at what God does for
him. Acts 18 verse 9 and 10. Verse 9 and
10. Go to Acts 18:9 and 10.
Acts 18:9 and 10. Now the Lord spoke to
Paul in the night.
So God is speaking to Paul in the night
in a vision. What does God say? Do not
be afraid. So Paul was actually afraid.
He had fear. Do not be afraid, but
speak. Do not keep silent. For I am with
you and no one will attack you to hurt
you. For I have many people in this. Ah,
what an encouragement.
God is telling Paul, you come to
Corinth.
Keep speaking. Don't keep silent. I will
not allow anyone to attack you for there
are many people that must be saved.
See whenever you come to a place you
will face opposition you will face
threats but God will encourage. Look at
people.
I I want you to minister to people.
There are so many people in this city.
Don't give up because of the opposition.
Don't give up because of the threats. It
may seem like you will feel afraid
but God is still calling you. Are you
understanding? God is encouraging him.
So he was he was in fear. He was
trembling but God encouraged him in Acts
18 9 and 10. Right? That's why he could
plant a church. That's why there are
believers. That's why he's writing this
letter 7 years later. Right? Verse four
and five.
And my speech and my preaching were not
with persuasive words of human wisdom,
but in demonstration of the spirit and
of power, that your faith should not be
in the wisdom of men, but in the power
of God. What is he saying? He says, "My
speech, my preaching, my sharing,
it was not with persuasive words."
Meaning
I did not use my words to persuade your
hearts, to change your hearts.
But my preaching was because it was
anointed by the Holy Spirit that brought
the power, that brought the change. See,
every time you minister, you need to
ask, "Lord, anoint me.
I don't want my own words to move
people." Only the Holy Spirit should do
that.
Only the Holy Spirit has the power to
change hearts. Not our own speech, not
our own wisdom. Right? So
um that word persuasive can also mean
um can also mean clever or enticing.
Sometimes in ministry you can be very
clever, use your own knowledge, be very
clever to change people's minds,
convince them. But what really brings
transformation? Holy Spirit. The
anointing.
Was Jesus anointed? Yes. That's why he
he could move so powerfully. Was Paul
anointed? Yes. That's why he could move
so powerfully. Right. So when we
minister, when we uh you know say we're
doing church planting or when um when
you have an opportunity to minister,
pray Lord, anoint me. I have this
assignment. If you're leading worship,
if you're sharing God's word, if you're
sharing your testimony, if you're going
to counsel someone, what should we pray?
Lord, anoint me by your Holy Spirit. So
that when I'm speaking, they should not
see my words. They should sense the Holy
Spirit. That's a great church to be.
See, church should not be a place where
people are attracted to a person. Oh, I
like that pastor. I feel good. No,
church should be a place where they can
say, I I felt God's presence.
I felt the anointing of the Holy Spirit
upon me. I am healed. I am saved. I'm
delivered. That should be the testimony.
Now, people can be attracted. Yes, they
can be attracted. They can encourage you
and yeah, pastor, you preach well this
that. Okay, good. But end of the day,
what should they be transformed by? By
the Holy Spirit.
Amen. By the anointing. So, always ask
God to anoint you. Always don't go by
yourself.
Only for seeing fruit, for seeing
lasting change is when you need is only
when you are anointed.
And then verse five, that your faith
should not be in the wisdom of men but
in the power of God. Why is he writing
this again? Everything you should see in
context.
What were they saying? I like Paul. I
like Apollos. I like Peter. So he said
do not put your wisdom in men but in
God. See everything is in context.
Right? So you're understanding now verse
five. Your faith
your belief in God your relationship
with God should not be in a man
but because of what God because of what
God has done in your life. God can use
people
to preach, to sing, to to do something,
to help, to counsel, but ultimately God
is doing that. You are just a vessel, a
channel. Amen. Yeah. Are we okay so far?
So verse 1 to5, what is it about? Using
or or preaching Jesus with power,
with anointing. Don't preach just like
that. Preach with power. Preach with
anointing. Right? So now let's go to the
next section. 1 Corinthians chapter 2
verse 6 to 10. 6 to 10. Yeah, you can
read it please.
>> However, we speak wisdom among those who
are mature. Yet not the wisdom of this
age, nor of the rulers of this age who
are coming to nothing. But we speak the
wisdom of God in a mystery. The hidden
wisdom of God which God ordained before
the ages for our glory.
>> Glory. Yeah. Okay. Just pause there.
Just pause there. Actually, okay. Read
the entire section. Sorry. Read the
entire section.
>> Which none of the rulers of this age
knew. For had they known, they would
they would not have crucified the Lord
of glory. But as it is written, I has
not seen nor ear heard, nor have entered
into the heart of man the things which
God has prepared for those who love him,
but God has revealed them to us through
his spirit. For the spirit searches all
things, yes, the deep things of God.
>> Yeah. Okay. So in this section, Paul is
going to talk about the gospel message
is a mystery
and how does it get revealed or unveiled
by the Holy Spirit. Okay, we will see
that. So this section is all about if
you have a heading, if you want a
heading, it's about the gospel message
being a mystery, but it is unveiled by
the Holy Spirit. Okay, so let's read it.
Verse 6 and 7. However, we speak wisdom
among those who are mature, yet not the
wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of
this age, who are coming to nothing.
Verse seven, but we speak the wisdom of
God
in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which
God ordained before the ages for our
glory. Okay. So, there are different
kinds of wisdom.
There's earthly wisdom but there is the
wisdom of God. So speak that is first
point.
Speak the wisdom of God. Okay. So Paul
is saying here the wis the the wisdom of
God
which is so we saw in the in the first
in the in the first chapter that the
message of the cross is the wisdom of
God and power of God. So what is the
wisdom of God? It's the message. It's
the gospel, right? And he's saying that
this is a mystery. It was a mystery that
was hidden until now. But now with Jesus
coming, it is being real. But how does
it become real? How does it become
unveiled?
By the Holy Spirit. We will read that.
Okay. So speak the wisdom of God which
is the gospel. It is a mystery. It has
been hidden but now with Christ it is
being revealed.
Right? And how do we know that?
How do we know that this is this mystery
is the gospel? Verse number eight. How
do we know that what we are talking
about is the gospel? Verse number eight.
Which none of the rulers of this age
knew. For if they had known, they would
not have crucified Jesus. Okay, think
about this. If
the rulers of the age, Herod, the
Pharisees, they knew
that if Jesus died on the cross
to save people of their sins, to be the
King of Kings, a Lord of Lords, they
wouldn't have crucified.
But God used that as a mystery. They
could not see it.
God used that as a hidden mystery to
reveal his glory to reveal his
salvation. Are we understanding now?
Yeah. So I hope like yeah it's it's when
you read it sometimes it can you read
these passages sometimes it can feel a
little difficult but I want you to
understand the wisdom of God is a
mystery. How do we know it's a mystery
this gospel? Because if they had known,
the rulers of the age would have known.
They wouldn't have crucified.
If they had known, they just wanted to
get rid of this Jesus. They didn't know
that through his death will come the
salvation of the world. Through his
message, the whole world will be saved.
They didn't know that. It was a mystery.
It was hidden. Now, how is it being
revealed? How is it being unveiled? The
next verse,
verse 9 and 10. As it is written, again
it's it's given as it is written.
Quoting from the Old Testament, as it is
written, uh Isaiah 64:4, as it is
written, eye has not seen nor ear has
heard nor entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for
those who love him. So think about this.
God has prepared
for those who love him things that you
have not seen, things that you have not
heard, things that have not entered into
your heart. How does he reveal those
things? Next verse, verse 10. But God
has revealed them to us through his holy
>> spirit.
Okay, think about this salvation.
How are we saved? By grace through
faith. But that work is revealed is
unveiled only when the Holy Spirit
convicts us.
This mystery, it remains a mystery. It
remains foolishness to the world. How do
we receive Jesus? When the Holy Spirit
opens our eyes,
to see this God, to see the kingdom of
God, to know that we are saved, that we
are delivered from our sins. God has
revealed them through his spirit. For
the spirit searches all things, yes, the
deep things of God. Talking about the
ministry of the Holy Spirit. Okay. Did
Jesus talk about the Holy Spirit? Yes.
So, let's go to John chapter 16 very
quickly. Sorry. John chapter 16
just to understand this a little bit.
John chapter 16
verse
7 and 8 and verse 13.
Verse seven and 8. Can you read it
please? Yeah. Verse seven and 8.
>> Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It
is to your advantage that I go away. For
if I do not go away, the helper will not
come to you. But if I depart, I will
send him to you. And when he has come,
he will convict the world of sin,
righteousness, and of judgment.
>> Okay, just pause there. What will the
Holy Spirit do? He will convict.
He will open up our understanding.
You understanding? So this gospel
message can be understood only when the
Holy Spirit opens our mind, our eyes.
That's why we should pray like this.
Lord,
open people's eyes. Open, use your Holy
Spirit to convict people of their sin.
Are we understanding? Right. Verse 13.
Three.
>> Three. Yeah. Verse 13.
However, when he, the Spirit of truth,
has come, he will guide you into all
truth. For he will not speak on his own
authority, but whatever he hears, he
will speak, and he will tell you things
to come.
>> Yeah. What did we just read in 1
Corinthians chapter 2:10? God has
revealed them to us through his spirit.
For the spirit searches all things. And
what is Jesus saying in John chap 16:13?
The spirit whatever he hears, he will
speak. You want to hear from God, ask
the Holy Spirit. He searches all things
and he will speak to you the things of
the kingdom. You want to you want to get
deeper revelation? Talk to the Holy
Spirit. He knows all the things. That's
what Jesus is saying. He will not speak
of his own authority but whatever he
hears he will speak. He will tell you of
the things to come. You want direction
for your life. What your eye has not
seen, what your ear has not heard, what
has not entered into your heart. How
does God reveal that? Through his holy
spirit.
This is why it is so important to talk
to commune with the Holy Spirit to
partner with the Holy Spirit. Right? See
the work of the Holy Spirit does not
stop at salvation.
He does not stop you know it does not
stop only when you accept Jesus. That is
the starting point. After that every
day, every season keep talking to the
Holy Spirit. Are you understanding?
Right? So think about this, right? What
your eye has not seen, what your ear has
not heard, what any desire, any ambition
that you have, you have ever thought of,
but God will reveal them to you
supernaturally
by his holy spirit. So it is so
important as we read in this passage to
walk in step with the Holy Spirit. Every
place you go,
anytime you need clarity in your life,
anytime you need direction in your life,
what should we pray? Holy Spirit, reveal
God's will. He knows for my life.
Holy Spirit, speak the truth of this
situation. If you are in a place of
confusion or chaos, you need clarity.
Holy Spirit, bring clarity
to my life.
You speak to me.
Amen. Are we understanding? Yes. So God
reveals
the things of his kingdom
through the Holy Spirit.
Yeah. See, when Jesus was preaching,
people were marveled at his wisdom.
People would wonder like, how is he
speaking all these parables, saying the
things of the kingdom of heaven? How was
he how was he preaching? Why? Because he
was anointed
by the Holy Spirit.
Amen. So we need to also
be anointed. We need to ask the Holy
Spirit, Lord, reveal the things of the
kingdom for my life.
And in every situation, personally, in
ministry, all of you want to get
married, right? Yeah. Talk to the Holy
Spirit. Pray. Holy Spirit, lead me. All
of you are laughing.
All the faces here.
Yeah. Every single situation you all
will need to find a home. Talk to the
Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, lead me. Lead
me in this decision. Lead me in this
assignment.
See sometimes you know when you open up
the Bible and uh how many you have this
desire Lord uh give me deeper revelation
of the scriptures. I want to know deep
truths.
You invite the Holy Spirit. He will
start to show you things you have never
seen.
I have I have experienced that
personally. Right? So this is not some
rocket science. Everyone has the Holy
Spirit dwelling in them. can ask him to
illuminate,
bring light,
bring his wisdom, bring his knowledge.
Amen.
>> All right, let's go to the next section.
Next session only two verses. Verse 11
and 12. Someone want to read that verse
11 and 12. Maybe someone online, please
online.
1 Corinthians chapter 2 11 and 12.
For what man knows the things of a man
except the spirit of the man which is in
him?
>> I'm not able to hear you. One second.
Sorry. Sorry.
Check. Uh, can you just speak again?
>> For what man knows the things of a man
except the Sorry, sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
Just one second.
USB, right? USB codec.
>> Uh oh. Mac. Uh
oh. External.
External. Okay. Okay. Sorry. Re. Sorry.
Can you just try again one last time?
>> Sure.
>> Yes.
>> For what? You can hear me? Yes. Yes.
Yes. Go ahead. Go ahead. For what man
knows the things of a man except the
spirit of the man which is in him? Even
so no one knows the things of God except
the spirit of God. Now we have received
not the spirit of the world but the
spirit who is from God that we might
know the things that have been freely
given to us by God.
>> Yeah. Amen. So think about this first 1
Corinthians chapter 2 11. Verse 11 it
says for what man knows the things of a
man except his own spirit. So you know
yourself
because you know yourself. Your mind is
in you. Your spirit is in you. You know
your thoughts. You know your desires.
You know your ambitions. You know what
you're thinking. You know what you're
going to do the next next 1 hour because
you're thinking about it because your
mind is within yourself. So in the same
way he writes
in the same way even so no one knows the
things of God except the spirit of God.
So if you want to know the things of God
talk to the Holy Spirit. Same thought.
This is the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
This is why Jesus went. That's why in
John chapter 16 Jesus said that
statement. It is to your advantage that
I go. Can you imagine the disciples?
Lord, you're going. Where will we go?
You are going. But he's saying it is to
your advantage. Why is he saying that?
So that the promise of the father can be
sent which is the holy spirit which is
going to be upon each one of us.
Otherwise if Jesus didn't go, we have to
take a flight to Jerusalem to meet him.
This is God's plan. So Jesus saying it
is to your advantage that I go.
Why? so that the Holy Spirit can come.
So in the same way as our own spirit
understands our thoughts, our ambitions
to know the things of God, it is the
spirit of God that reveals. Are we
understanding? Yeah. So if you want to
know the things of God, what is he
thinking? What is he like? What are his
desires? What are his ambitions? What's
his plan? What's his will? It is
revealed to us through the spirit of
God. Spirit of God. Now we have received
not the spirit of the world. Right? So
when we receive Jesus, we don't receive
some random spirit. We receive the Holy
Spirit. We are temples of the Holy
Spirit. So he's clarifying that when we
put our faith in Jesus, we don't receive
a spirit of the world. World can't see
this. We receive the Holy Spirit that
rests upon us, that is dwelling inside
of us.
Not the spirit of the uh not the spirit
of the world but the spirit who is from
God that we might know the things that
have been freely given to us by God.
Amazing. When the Holy Spirit is upon
you, when he is dwelling inside of you,
God freely reveals. You don't need to do
anything.
I need to pray for 8 hours, read for 1
hour, worship. All those are good. Yes,
those are good practices to build
spiritual discipline. But know this,
when the Holy Spirit is in you, any time
of the day, you can freely ask him.
Anytime you can talk to him, anytime you
can receive from him, are we
understanding? You don't need to, this
is not some ritualistic practice to
receive from God. The only thing is you
need to talk to the Holy Spirit.
Okay? So I'm not belittling spiritual
discipline. Fasting is good. You know,
spending time in prayer is good. Worship
is good. Reading the Bible is good. But
those are to build up our inner man, our
our faith. But to receive from God, just
commune with the Holy Spirit. Are we
understanding? Yeah. So that's verse 11
and 12. Okay, we have few more minutes.
Let's read the last three verses,
please. Verse 13- 16. Verse 13- 16.
>> These things we speak also, not in words
which man's wisdom teaches, but which
the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing
spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man does not receive the
things of the spirit of God, for they
are foolishness to him, nor can he know
them, because they are spiritually
discerned. But he who is spiritually
judges all things, yet he himself is
rightly judged by no one. For who has
known the mind of the Lord, that he may
instruct him. But we have the mind of
Christ.
>> Mind of Christ. Amazing. Amazing passage
to end. Okay. So very quickly verse uh
because I want to if there are any
questions we'll spend some time. Verse
13. These things we also speak not in
words which man's wisdom teaches but
which the Holy Spirit teaches. So what
he's saying is see we can learn a lot of
things. We can learn get knowledge all
of that but ultimately speak the things
that the spirit reveals to you. Are we
understanding? Speak
um speak what the holy spirit is
teaching you. In John chapter 14, Jesus
talks about the Holy Spirit. He says he
will be the paracletos helper and he
will be your teacher. What is the role
of the Holy Spirit? To be a teacher. Who
was Jesus? He was a rabbi. Teacher. Same
way Holy Spirit. He was a rabbi. They
called him rabbi. Teacher. So in in our
in our day now Jesus is in the right
hand throne of God. Who is our teacher?
The Holy Spirit. He will teach. So speak
those things. So think about this. If
someone asks you to prepare a sermon,
lead a song, um minister, what should we
do first? Holy Spirit, teach me. I'm
going. I need your wisdom. I need you to
speak. Spend time in prayer. Pray with
the Holy Spirit. Pray in tongues.
Commune with him. Speak the mysteries of
heaven. God will fill you with the
things of the Holy Spirit. Verse 14, but
the natural man does not receive the
things of the spirit. Okay, what is the
natural man? Our physical senses, sight,
touch, taste, smell. The natural man
does not receive the things of the
spirit of God. A natural man in its core
does not have the ability to receive
from God.
We can we can exercise.
For example, when we praise and worship,
we lift our hands. That is a natural
thing, right? Where you know the Bible
says, "Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord." How do we praise the
Lord? With our lips. So, yes, the
natural man can express, but in order to
really receive from God, we need the
spirit man. What is the spirit man? The
Holy Spirit inside of us. That is the
spirit man, right? Cannot receive the
spirit of God for they are foolishness
to him. Nor can we know them because
they are spiritually discerned.
See now that this does not mean we
ignore our natural senses.
God is not saying close your eyes, don't
smell, don't taste, don't touch. That's
not what God is saying. Use your senses
for his glory.
But you need the Holy Spirit in order to
receive from God. And the Holy Spirit
dwells in your spirit man. Are we
understanding? So God is not saying,
"Oh, ignore your natural man or your
natural senses."
He is saying
tap into your spirit man. That is why
the Holy Spirit rests and resides and
speaks to us. Amen. Okay. Verse 15,
we'll close with this. Verse 15 and 16.
Verse 15. But he who is spiritual judges
all things.
Yet he himself is rightly judged by no
one. See, a person who is led by the
Holy Spirit is able to judge properly.
He's able to say yes and no. He's able
to say right and wrong. He's able to say
you know this is the right path this is
the wrong path.
When you are spiritled, when you are
sensitive to the Holy Spirit, Holy
Spirit will tell go there. Don't go
here. Door is open. Oops.
Sorry.
Sorry. I should put it on.
Yeah. Sorry. Sorry about that. Um, yeah.
Those who are spiritual judges all
things. So when you are spiritled,
you can judge all things.
You can discern right from wrong. You
are able to judge properly for your
life. Right? So develop your
relationship with the Holy Spirit. You
get better and better. You hear clearer
and clearer. This is a walk. This is not
a one-time event. Right? You should not
say ah Holy Spirit spoke to me once.
What about now? Continue. Amen. Verse
16. Amazing verse. Verse 16. For who has
known the mind of the Lord that he may
instruct him. Okay. So when you read
that verse, there are quotes. Do you see
it in your Bible? There are quotes,
right? Who has known the mind of the
Lord that he may instruct him. So when
he puts a quotes, he is quoting from the
Old Testament. This is Isaiah 40:13.
So he is saying in the Old Testament,
Isaiah writes, "Who has known the mind
of the Lord that he may instruct him?"
Then he concludes that chapter by
saying, "We have the mind of Christ."
When someone walks with the Holy Spirit,
think about this, okay? When someone
walks with the Holy Spirit, you have the
mind of Christ. So Isaiah says, "As far
as the heavens are, as high as the
heavens are, so are his thoughts." God's
thoughts.
God's thoughts
are higher than our thoughts.
When you are led by the Holy Spirit, you
have the mind of Christ. You can think
like God.
You have the thoughts of God. Are we
understanding? This is very exciting
that when we walk with the Holy Spirit,
he puts on the mind of Christ. That's
why Romans chapter 12 verse 1 and 2, it
says, "Renew your mind.
Don't walk according to the patterns of
the world, but renew your mind."
Amen. So, what did we learn in this
chapter chapter two? What did we learn?
four things. One is you proclaim Jesus
with power and the rest of the section
is about the ministry of the Holy Spirit
where he opens up the gospel. He reveals
things that have not seen, heard,
entered into the heart of man. The Holy
Spirit reveals and um the Holy Spirit
reveals the things of God. You want to
hear the things of God, the Holy Spirit
reveals. And lastly, we have the mind of
Christ. we can think. So, uh, use your
mind.
So, when you're when you get a problem
in work or when when when you're, you
know, thinking about something, ask the
Holy Spirit to fill your mind with his
thoughts.
Lord, I need a solution. I'm facing a
problem. I need a solution. Lord, bring
your solution.
It's like this. The disciples faced an
issue when Jesus said, "Let us feed the
5,000."
What did Jesus say? Supernatural. He
said, "What do we have?
Five loaves, two fish." But that was his
thought.
There was a problem. The disciples saw a
problem. Jesus gave the solution. It
seems foolishness to us, but it is the
wisdom.
So when you speak to people, no, you'll
be surprised when God gives you a
solution. When God gives you an answer,
it may seem foolish. This does not make
sense. How does Phyos and two fish make
sense?
But it is the wisdom of God. His glory
will be revealed through that. Amen.
Yeah. So chapter number two
over. Okay. So go home, read more. Uh
but yeah just we have a few more minutes
2 three minutes uh anyone has any
questions any thoughts
please feel free to ask
and uh yeah so people have posted in the
chat that uh lecture number two is not
available it is uh not visible so I'll
I'll talk to the admin I'll I'll just
tell them to make it visible Any
questions? Any thoughts?
>> Pastor, one question I have.
>> Yes. Yes, ma'am.
>> Uh why does it take time to receive the
anointing from God?
>> Okay. Why does it take time to receive
the anointing from God? Okay. So, here's
how I'll answer that. Whenever you put
your faith in Jesus, you have the Holy
Spirit within you. So you are anointed.
Okay? So don't think I am not anointed.
You are anointed. But the question is
why am I not maybe hearing from him? Why
am I not experiencing the things of God?
why am I not
uh you know navigating or or getting my
answers or getting clarity that is a
journey
of maturing of maturing in Christ. So to
answer your question, when you put your
faith in Jesus, when you make that
prayer or when you pray in Jesus' name,
Lord, anoint me, send your holy spirit,
God always answers that prayer because
that is his that is his desire. Acts
chapter 2, he says, "In the last days,
he will pour out his spirit on all
flesh." So anyone who calls upon the
name of the Lord, they are filled. they
are anointed with the Holy Spirit. The
question is how do we make that? How do
we experience the reality of that? But
sometimes that is a journey that we need
to make. Uh you know we may not get all
the answers. Uh we may not hear him
clearly clearly
um uh right at the beginning but it
becomes clearer and clear clearer as you
keep walking with him. Yeah. So uh
please know that whenever you pray in
Jesus' name, Lord anoint me, God answers
that prayer. That is his desire. So you
are anointed. Uh but yes to experience
some of the realities of the kingdom of
God, it takes time. It's a journey and
he will take you through that journey.
He will teach you all things. I hope
that helps. Reita. Yes, letters pastor.
Thank you so much.
>> Thank you. Thank you, Reinda. Uh, soya
pastor in chapter 1 verse 6.
Uh, oh, chapter 1 verse 6. Okay, we'll
just try and answer this if we have
time.
1 Corinthians chapter 1
verse 6.
Even as the testimony of Christ was
confirmed in you. Okay. So basically
what this verse means is
um so in verse five uh Paul is thanking
God because he sees Christ working in
them. How is that confirmed? Through
their testimony, through their life. So
through the words that they are
speaking, through how they gather,
through how people are seeing their
lives, the testimony of Christ, meaning
their testimony is pointing to the
truth. Their testimony is pointing to
Christ and so it is confirmed. That is
why in verse five, he says, "I thank
God." Right? So uh how is anything
confirmed when our lives point to Jesus,
not ourselves? And so he's thanking God
for the church there. Right. So that is
1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 6.
Thank you. Thank you. All right. So hope
first two chapters. Yeah. Is it okay?
Yeah. Pace is okay. Are we able to
understand? Okay. So we will see all of
you next week. Have a great week. God
bless you.
You too, sir.
