Video summary
The video features a die-hard James Bond fan who previously ran a gaming channel focused on completionist runs of titles like Grand Theft Auto before pivoting to his passion for 007 in 2015. He documents his journey through *James Bond: First Light*, aiming to earn the platinum trophy by unlocking all achievements within the game. The narrator praises the title as one of his favorite Bond games, noting that it offers a relatively straightforward path to completion without becoming boring, featuring 38 trophies where most are unlocked naturally through story progression rather than obscure challenges.
The gameplay experience begins with an intense origin story sequence set in Iceland, where the protagonist starts not yet as Agent 007 but as SIS airman who survives a helicopter crash and is subsequently recruited by MI6. The game cleverly integrates tutorial mechanics into engaging narrative moments, such as stealth missions to rescue scientists and training montages that introduce parkour, driving, shooting, and gadget usage without feeling repetitive. Fans of the literary works will appreciate references like the "Icebreaker" trophy title from John Gardner novels, while others may notice strong stylistic echoes of *Kingsman: The Secret Service* during early recruitment sequences on Malta involving rival recruits and nightclub scenes.
As the story unfolds, Bond investigates a conspiracy involving rogue agent 009 across diverse locations including Slovakia, Mauritania's black markets, and Vietnam luxury resorts under an undercover identity as St. John Smythe. Key moments include high-stakes car chases, hacking sequences to uncover false intelligence planted by villain Nicholas Webb, boss battles against twin assassins, and dramatic escapes involving giant cranes and exploding facilities. The narrative takes sharp turns with plot twists such as the death of mentor John Greenway and a betrayal that forces Bond to go rogue, culminating in an emotional climax at MI6 HQ where he confronts the final antagonist amidst robotic threats and explosive set pieces reminiscent of *Spectre* and *No Time To Die*.
After completing the main storyline, the narrator tackles remaining collectibles including spy cards, intel files, mementos, postcards, and legacy items scattered throughout levels like museums and server rooms. Some achievements required specific strategies such as using gadgets to distract guards or exploiting environmental hazards during stealth operations in museum archives. A minor glitch delayed one trophy until higher clearance levels were reached despite prior progress, but persistence eventually unlocked the final accolades including "The Name's Bond, James Bond." The entire platinum run took about a week alongside work and family responsibilities, marking it as his fifteenth platinum trophy while celebrating how *First Light* successfully blends origin storytelling with classic espionage thrills.

I hope we're going to have some
gratuitous sex and violence.
>> And boy, did 007 First Light deliver in
spades. As a matter of fact, I called it
my favorite Bond game of all time in my
review, having only played it for 4 days
at the time. And I'm stating this as a
die-hard Bond fan who grew up with the
EA Bond games and centered his entire
channel around everything James Bond.
But, fun fact, did you know that up
until 2014, this channel used to be a
gaming channel? That's right, I used to
focus my content on how to 100% complete
the Grand Theft Auto games before making
the switch to my biggest passion in
2015, and the rest is history. That's
why my logo still has the Grand Theft
Auto font to this very day, as an homage
to the channel's humble beginnings. The
more you know. Nowadays, I am still a
completionist when it comes to games in
my private life, and I've obtained a
modest amount of platinum trophies. So,
as a Bond channel and former gaming
channel, it only made sense to take you
along on my platinum journey for First
Light.
For those clueless, the platinum trophy
is obtained on PlayStation games when
you obtain all the trophies in a game,
meaning you pretty much did everything
that game has to offer. First Light had
one of the easier platinums that doesn't
take an obscure amount of time like some
other games, and never became boring for
a second to me. The game has 38 trophies
to obtain, including the platinum one,
and the majority of which are all story
trophies that you unlock through natural
progression. I recorded my journey in
obtaining them all. If you haven't
completed the game yourself, then be
aware of spoilers. So, as you're
probably aware, First Light is an origin
story that tells us how Bond became 007.
And in the beginning of the game, he's
simply an SIS airman. Within the opening
cutscene, we immediately jump into
action as the helicopter is suddenly
attacked.
>> Incoming! The point blank
>> Before you know it, the helicopter gets
shot down and Bond ends up becoming the
sole survivor. I got the game on its
release date and this is me playing this
game for the very first time. And what I
like is how it absolutely does not feel
like a James Bond game at all in the
beginning and you're so curious to see
it grow into a James Bond story from
here on in. And the game does not waste
time in raising tension within this
pre-title sequence as you immediately
run into a dead body of one of your
fellow soldiers and you see some bad
guys walking around and you know these
guys mean business.
We're quickly introduced to the game's
climbing mechanics and we are
immediately thrown into the story where
MI6 takes over control and Bond is
guided along the way. Bond stumbles upon
a secret research camp studying a
crashed satellite and finds it occupied
by a dangerous terrorist mercenary
group. Bond is given direct orders to
get the hell out of there, but he defies
those orders and sets out to rescue some
captive scientists, which is basically
one of our first objectives. It's a
great chance to get acquainted to the
game's stealth mechanics, set up
distractions to lure away the guards
while sneaking into the base camps.
After we rescue two groups of
scientists, we have to take down this
giant mast and cause chaos.
>> That's a signal.
>> After that, Bond makes his first
significant kill of the game and you can
tell it impacts him as a character. And
I like how they gave that moment some
weight. After that, we do have to get
the hell out of there in an
action-packed escape before easing our
way into the end cutscene of the opening
where Bond utters this badass line
before blowing the camp to an all-time
high.
>> MI6 would never.
I'm not at MI6.
>> So, completing the opening mission
grants us our very first trophy,
Icebreaker. To casual fans, just a
random trophy name, but Bond fans will
know that it's actually a title to one
of the John Gardner Bond novels of all
things and it immediately showed me that
these developers have done their
homework. We get thrown into the great
opening titles accompanied by Lana Del
Rey's opening song and the game kicks
off strong. So, after the opening
titles, we are invited to MI6 using the
cover name Universal Exports, of course.
And we have to follow this game's
Moneypenny to meet M. And I love how all
of this is completely new to Bond and he
really has no idea what he's doing here.
Another indicator that the developers
have done their research is the fact
that the game includes Miss Ponsonby,
which Bond fans will know as a character
from the Fleming novels. M is impressed
by Bond's performance in Iceland, takes
a chance on him and wants to make him a
spy. So, Bond becomes a recruit for the
Double-O program. He's taken to the MI6
training camp on Malta under the command
of unique character John Greenway,
played by Lennie James. And is it me or
does this portion of the game totally
remind you of Kingsman: The Secret
Service? Bond is the new unlikely
recruit that everyone finds out of place
and no one has faith in, just like
Eggsy. He immediately has a rival
character in Monroe, similar to Charlie,
and he befriends a female recruit, which
kind of reminds me of Roxy. I've rarely
seen a game integrate the tutorial
section in such an engaging way as First
Light does here. It's presented as a
fast-paced training montage while
introducing all the basic mechanics,
gearing you up for the actual game. One
moment you're completing parkours, the
next moment you're introduced to the
combat, other moments you're actually
driving around in an Aston Martin,
introducing the driving mechanic, and
the next you're introduced to the
shooting. This is also where I got my
second trophy for shooting the gun out
of the guard's hand. After an intense
fight with Monroe, he and Bond become
friends because nothing creates
friendship like breaking each other's
neck. In between the Malta stuff, we
also briefly go back to London to visit
Q's lab, where we are equipped with some
gadgets, the Q lens and the Q watch. I
picked the navy blue one because that's
clearly the coolest. And we are also
given an apartment that we have to share
with Monroe and Cressida. After that,
it's some more capture the flag while
taking down enemies in Malta and
completing this tutorial sort of chapter
grants us our third trophy, from Malta
with love. Then Bond and the other
recruits decide to hang out at a
nightclub, and again, this is giving me
real Kingsman vibes as that happens
during their training as well. So, of
course, MI6 has another field test in
store for us, so we have to get off our
asses. Our first objective is to locate
a contact wearing red, and it didn't
take me long to spot the dime at the
bar.
>> Oh [ __ ] right? That's a dime. That is a
dime.
>> The Epiphyllum oxypetalum only blossoms
[music] at night.
>> Well, that's an interesting pick-up
line.
>> It turns out she wasn't the contact we
were looking for, but we do trigger her
jealous boyfriend because she's
obviously into us because, you know,
you're James Bond. The actual contact is
at the bar, and he says there's a
pick-up waiting for us in the men's
room. Once we make it to the correct
stall and find the iPad, we are informed
that MI6 has a leak and there are three
suspects. One of them is the culprit,
and we need to identify the correct one,
but not before jealous boyfriend shows
up and we have to beat the [ __ ] out of
him.
>> Don't forget to flush.
>> Once that's taken care of, we have to
locate one of the three suspects, Joshua
Pike. The game introduces us to the
eavesdropping feature to collect intel,
and in First Light there are always
several roads that lead to Rome. I went
backstage and snuck my way up there and
located Joshua.
>> What the
>> Then we need to hack his phone and
follow him until we extracted all of the
data. Of course, we run into blonde
chick again, who's now totally turned on
that we beat her boyfriend, and admitted
fellas, you all totally pressed the X
button during this exchange.
>> Meet me outside in half an hour.
>> So, Pike goes into the VIP area, and my
Bond fandom wouldn't be complete without
knowing this textbook Bond move. Easy. I
completed the hack, we find out that
Pike is indeed our guy, and I just
locked him into a bathroom and broke the
door handle. Another textbook Bond move.
Now we have to meet the contact he was
supposed to sell the leaks to, and it
turns out that that was to this brunette
chick. So, I got into this situation
where blonde chick and brunette chick
start to fight over you and you have to
select a string of choices, and I
totally felt like I had completely
screwed that up, but somehow I got away
with it. After that, blonde chick's
boyfriend shows up once again, and
Monroe joins in on the brawl. And the
dude didn't even land a punch. Overall,
I feel like these chapters are getting
more and more fun with each one.
Completing this one gave me the shaken
not stirred trophy, and I don't need to
explain that one. Then our first proper
mission starts as M briefs the recruits
on rogue agent 009 who turned up after a
decade of hiding. He claims to have
vital information on a conspiracy
against the state, intends to hand it in
in exchange for a full pardon, and on
the condition that he will only get to
talk to John Greenway. The recruits are
sent out to apprehend 009 at a chess
tournament taking place in Slovakia, and
I really loved this entire chapter. Not
only was this all set to a gorgeous
backdrop, but this started that full-on
espionage feeling that I was hoping for,
and the game truly kicks off from here.
M had a word with Bond before the
mission and gave the specific advice to
follow orders this time. Of course, Bond
immediately disobeys orders again right
at the start of the mission, as we have
to trail a suspicious blonde hotel
employee. And if Bond movies taught you
anything, muscular blonde dudes are
usually the bad guys in the films. Well,
almost always. So, muscular blonde dude
snuck into the hotel, and since I didn't
have an invitation, I had to get
creative. There are surely several ways
to sneak in, and I simply distracted the
guard, climbed this ledge up on the
drain pipe, and snuck my way into the
hotel through the window.
>> Ken Banks, penetration tester.
I need to have a stern word with your
manager.
>> I have to say it really started to feel
like a James Bond game from here on in.
You could easily picture this as a Ken
Adam film set from the classic films. We
spot mysterious blonde dude again, and
we have to do a nice bit of sneaking
around the hotel, eavesdropping for
clues, exploring, looking for secrets,
and so on. The game does not spell out
exactly how you need to do this, and
again, there are multiple ways to get
your way through. Truly making you feel
like a spy where you have to rely on
your own instincts, [music] and I think
this is where First Light truly shines,
because even after finishing the game, I
want to return to this mission. It's
great for the replayability that you
have so many options in every chapter.
The thrill eventually leads you to a
secret pathway to the basement area, and
this is where I got my next trophy for
kicking this poor bastard into the fire
extinguisher.
A bit later on, we run into the Bond
girl whose nameless for now and keeps an
air of mystery around her throughout the
story.
>> James, whatever you [music] think you're
doing, stop.
You're in over your head.
>> Yeah, tell me about it.
>> We soon find Monroe murdered by
mysterious muscular blonde dude and
after a first boss fight, he turns out
to have an identical twin and we have to
beat both of them. Definitely a part of
the game where you need to up your ante.
After defeating them, the twins run off
and leave you with a bomb that you need
to defuse or well, attempt to because
the damn thing explodes anyway,
unlocking our next story trophy.
>> No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
>> And then we find Cressida under the
debris now paralyzed and [ __ ] just got
real. This is the turning point in the
game where things get serious. 009 gets
away and we have to quickly pursue him.
We hop behind the wheel of an Aston
Martin DBS, mysterious Bond girl appears
again and before we know it we're
engaged in a fast-paced car chase.
Again, this really felt like a Bond game
and I was enjoying the living daylights
out of it. We chase 009 to an airport
and Bond is given a real gun for the
first time. Having checked the trophy
list beforehand, I knew there was one
where you needed to shoot someone in the
knee. So, first chance I got here, I
popped that trophy immediately. At the
airport, you get engaged in your first
full shootout and I noticed bad guys
throwing grenades at me. I knew there
were two grenade trophies, one where you
had to hack a grenade before it explodes
and the other where you needed to shoot
an enemy while he was throwing a
grenade. And this one should have
totally been called he blew a fuse
instead.
>> Oh, he blew a fuse.
>> I play a lot of games that give you a
lot more ammo and in First Light, ammo
is definitely a lot more scarce. I found
myself getting killed in this portion,
so I had to resort to different
strategies. Using the gadgets
efficiently, blowing [ __ ] up, and using
Bond's focus ability. Eventually, I
fought myself over to the end of the
airstrip, and thought I could just walk
into the plane and completely missed the
host like an absolute 007. So, after
doing that again, I managed to fight my
way on top of the plane in a scene that
reminds me of the opening of Mission
Impossible Rogue Nation. Bond falls out
of the plane without a parachute,
Moonraker style, but leaves the plane
with a tracker. And this bit was really
cool, chasing down someone to jack his
parachute. And that unlocked the next
story trophy, Skyfall. Speaking of
Skyfall, that immediately gets an homage
in the scene following. MI6 has to deal
with the aftermath of all that went down
in Slovakia, but partially thanks to
Bond's tracker, we find out he's hiding
out in Mauritania, where Bond and
Greenway need to find him at a gigantic
black market.
And I absolutely love what the
developers did with this place. The
utter chaos and the sheer attention to
detail of this place is something I
really admire. It feels like a place
that James Bond has never visited
before. In order to get to 009, we first
need to get to a guy named Barmak,
played by none other than Lenny Kravitz.
But to get to him, we first need to get
to his sidekick, Baraka Ali. And to get
to him, we first need a hundred thousand
dollars that we somehow need to dig up
from this desert. Again, the game does
not spoon-feed you on what to do, but
leaves you to figure it out for
yourself. And there are several ways to
find money in this butt-cracked part of
the world. But somehow, I for one could
not for the life of me guess the correct
cup in that game on the market. Either
the guy's corrupt, or I'm a complete
idiot. It's probably the latter.
Instead, I talked my way into a cage
fight where you have to pound down a few
fighters. I thought it would be funny to
try the new gadget bomb on the last one,
and that was totally allowed and made my
life a lot easier. I also snatched a
crypto wallet from the market and needed
to make my way over to a big radio mast
so money penny could help me decrypt it.
During this side quest, I tried the new
laser watch and got the next trophy.
Once I succeeded there, I also loved
this typical bond moment when I made my
way out of there.
>> Afternoon, ladies.
This wouldn't be the way to the
Copacabana, would it?
I'll take that as a no.
>> [music]
>> What?
>> Don't mind me.
Just dropping in.
>> So, we paid up the 100K and got
ourselves into the auction. Completing
that unlocked the next story trophy,
win, lose, or die, which again is a
title of one of the Gardner Bond novels.
So, we made our way over to Barqat Ali
and through the power of Manchester
United tickets, we bargained our way
into information and learned that 009 is
hiding out on a boat. But, it wouldn't
be a video game if we didn't have to
make our way through obstacles and a
platoon of enemies first. I had a lot of
fun trying to tackle all this in a
somewhat strategic way. There was a
point here where I thought that it would
have been really convenient if we could
just swim as I tried to get away from
the enemies here to get to a better
vantage point, but I found out the hard
way that the game does not have such a
function. So, after a lots of trial and
tribulations, we make our way over to
the boat where lots of booby traps are
waiting for us. But, I'm on my way to
become a 00, so nothing can happen to
me. I just avoided them carefully and
was a real pro about it.
So, when we finally make our way over to
009, the script is completely flipped as
it turns out he was killed. And it also
unlocks the next story trophy, Nobody
Lives Forever, another Gardner novel.
So, after looking at some of the clues
that 009 left, we have to gaze out at a
ship to locate a logo that tells us
where to go next.
>> Bingo.
>> But we don't get the chance to check
that out as we're knocked out by a bunch
of Barmans men and we're left hanging
above a pit of bloodthirsty alligators.
No Manchester United tickets can save us
out of this one, but the mention of some
girl named Harmony can. So, Greenway and
Barma made a deal and we get to walk
free, but not before checking out the
ship that 009 left hints for. So, we do
some more climbing and searching until
we reach a briefcase that 009 left us
that has a cool From Russia with Love
reference that only Bond fans will
catch.
>> Now, turn them until they're horizontal
at the same time.
And open it.
Hey, presto.
We're not dead.
What is it?
009.
Looks like he wasn't the culprit.
He was the target.
>> So, right after this plot twist, the
group of mercenaries shows up again and
we have to make our way through another
major shootout level. Much like the
level at the airport, you have to be
clever in plotting your way out of this
one as tiny mistakes can easily get you
killed. Like me, constantly missing that
damn sniper. And why on earth couldn't I
sneak through this giant hole in the
wall? I did pick up another trophy in
this section though.
After finally shooting my way through,
Greenway and Bond make their escape from
the shipwreck but are taken down by a
mysterious masked dude who fires an RPG
at us. What follows is a massive
shootout in the desert where you
basically need to survive instead of win
until you run out of ammo. Bond and
Greenway are ready to give up until
Bomba shows up and saves the day. What a
badass. And that gives us the next story
trophy, Trigger Mortis. And if you're a
casual fan watching this, you're
probably thinking, "Oh, so that must be
another John Gardner title name, right?"
>> No.
Why would you think?
See what I mean?
>> So, the evidence that 009 was the target
and not the mastermind got destroyed,
and M declares 009 responsible for the
bombing and closes the case, despite
Bond and Greenway knowing the truth, but
they are ordered to stand down and go
home.
And I like that they have us drive
around London for this bit. This could
have easily been a cutscene, and it
would have been fine, but the fact that
the developers went through the lengths
of adding a detailed bit of London in
was really cool, almost like playing GTA
London here. So, when we arrive back at
our apartment, Bond finds his own
suicide note.
>> It should have been me.
James Bond.
Oh, this can't be good.
>> So, we have to take on this assassin,
and upon defeating him, we discover he's
not alone. So, we need to beat another
one that's roaming around in our
kitchen. After that, this happens.
>> Who do you work for?
Take the shot.
>> So, the entire house gets shot to
pieces, and we have to avoid that that
very same thing happens to us while
trying to reach him in this fast-paced
parkour bit over the rooftops. That was
both tense and very fun to play. We end
up smashing this giant crane into the
building and find out the assassin is
one of the blonde twins, and he takes us
out.
Completing this unlocks another trophy,
a hard man to kill, named after one of
the young Bond, Charlie Higson, short
stories.
>> There's an event,
the Webb Industries Anniversary Gala.
>> Thanks to the help of Moneypenny, we
find the assassins have a connection to
the Webb Anniversary Gala, hosted by
Nicholas Webb. And if the Bond movies
teach you anything, rich
multi-billionaires with lots of
influence and a positive image to the
public are usually the bad guys. So,
much like the Slovakia mission, you have
to do a lot of digging and finding out
clues, and we trace one of the twins
down, and we find out he's recorded on
camera. So, we need to figure out a way
to get to the CCTV room. Once I found a
way upstairs, you have to deal with a
lot of security guards. And once I found
out that some of them are carrying a
taser, I tried to go for the positively
shocking trophy, where you need to try
and get an enemy to accidentally hit
another enemy with a taser. I totally
felt like I should have gotten it here,
but somehow that didn't count. Then,
upon trying again, I felt he totally
missed the other guy, but somehow it did
pop here.
I'll take it.
>> Positively shocking.
>> Surely there were several ways into the
CCTV room again, but I found my way in
through the rooftop window. Thanks to
Moneypenny's magic, we find out that the
assassin is hiding out in the basement
archives. So, that's where I was headed
next.
>> [music]
>> So, we have another boss fight versus
the blonde twin, and you quickly find
out that the game does not allow you to
take him on in regular combat. Instead,
you have to use your gadgets in
combination with the environment, which
was easy enough. We get a brutal kill
through a cutscene, and we pop the next
trophy, You Only Live Twice. So, once we
We back to the gala, we run into the
mysterious Bond girl again, whose named
Isola, by the way. We're also introduced
to Damian, Webb's twisted son, who
clearly missed a lot of love in
childhood, and Nicholas Webb himself
introducing his utopian robots, which
obviously are not going to be a part of
an evil plot later on. We have to hack
Webb's phone, but upon getting closer,
we quickly find out that we've been
drugged.
>> Chloral hydrate.
>> So, we find out that both Nicholas Webb
and his son, Damian, are the villains of
this story, and we're tied down to a
chair. When we make our escape later, we
give Isola a boost, the gentleman that
we are, but we have to fight our way
through another platoon full of enemies,
room after room in all the levels
following.
And this was definitely a challenging
portion of the game. The escape takes us
through a museum we'll grow more
familiar with in the operations side
quest that you also need to do for the
platinum trophy later down the video.
And when we finally make our way outside
of the building, we make an escape in a
garbage truck with the Bond theme
blazing out proudly. And this was a heck
of a lot of fun. We rendezvous back with
Greenway, and we unlock the next story
trophy, Agent Under Fire, named after
the game.
So, together with Greenway, we go to the
massive Webb Industries building to find
out what he's up to. All the way at the
top floor, he has an impregnable
self-contained structure called the
perch, where we somehow need to get to.
It all starts at the bottom office
floors, where we once again need to do a
lot of sneaking and hacking to progress
to the upper floors. And again, there
are multiple roads to take and secrets
to uncover. We run into Isola once
again, who completely outsmarts us and
can get us into the perch, but first we
need to break into Webb's penthouse
office, where we unlock another story
trophy, All Time High, named after
Octopussy's title song. Here in the
office, I needed to figure out the code
to the safe and it was fun trying to
find it through clues and a hint that
Isola gave us. And it was very
fulfilling when you finally opened it
and solved the puzzle. There's also a
fun bit where you need to listen in on a
conversation between Webb and his son
while avoiding getting spotted. After
that, it's a sudden race against the
clock to get the hell out of there and
then Isola gets us into the perch. To
get to the actual server room
downstairs, we first needed to find a
lab coat. It took me a moment to figure
out how to get it, but I eventually
figured it out and we made our way into
the server room. Here, we need to hack
the servers before Webb's men wipe all
the evidence in a mission that required
careful planning that I really enjoyed.
Once we did that, that's when we uncover
what Webb and Damien have been doing
under our noses for decades.
>> Some of our biggest intelligence
successes in the last decade, but if I'm
reading this right,
we were working off a false intel every
single time.
>> Thayer makes mistakes.
>> Thayer
makes mistakes.
>> And the reason we don't know about it
>> is because Webb covers it up.
So, it looks like every time Thayer gets
a wire crossed,
>> [music]
>> he dispatches Damien to fix the
narrative, to alter the crime scenes,
plant evidence, frame, or eliminate
witnesses.
>> So, with that uncomfortable revelation,
Webb shows up and a classic Bond versus
Bond villain confrontation follows. And
then he tries to gas us. We receive a
rocket-firing pen, which is really
convenient for the section coming up
next where we need to fight our way out
of the facility to get the truth out to
MI6. There's another escape involving
lots of shooting and action and in the
final bit, we need to make a big sprint
to the helicopter getting us out of
there. Despite everything we learned,
Greenway could not face the terrible
truth he's been living in for the past
12 years, and he had enough and splits
from us. This also unlocked our next
story trophy, No Time to Die.
>> It's one thing that you broke into Web
HQ. It's another that you got caught,
but leaving without proof? You couldn't
have botched it any worse had you tried.
>> But you're not handing me in.
>> Of course, I'm not. I'm sending you on a
black op to collect the irrefutable
proof we need to bring down the Webs.
>> And us, we find out that Damian is going
to be in Vietnam to cover up more false
intel through nasty murders. So, posing
as rich millionaire [music] St. John
Smythe, we are dispatched to a luxury
resort in Vietnam.
>> St. John Smythe, my dear. St. John
Smythe, my dear.
>> Of course. [music]
The staff and I are very pleased to have
you with us.
>> And I have to say, I had the biggest
grin on my face for [music] this portion
of the game. I mean, come on, St. John
Smythe. Which Bond fan doesn't enjoy
saying that name? Also, this luxury
resort was probably my favorite setting
of the game. It really makes you want to
visit Southeast Asia and go to a similar
place. It's so exotic, and that
Connery-esque [music]
pink shirt totally makes you feel like
you're undercover in some tropical
setting secretly trying to save the
world. I loved everything about [music]
this.
I also had a little chuckle from the
TikToker making an unexpected cameo
here.
So, it's our job to protect three
potential VIP targets that Damian could
have for his cover-up operation. [music]
There's rich party boy Ellis,
millionaire boss man Ramon Hernandez,
and marine biologist and absolute Bond
babe Teresa Larca. Getting to the party
boy wasn't too hard. You basically just
sneak over a fence, possess the barman,
and have him drink along without any
trouble. Getting to Hernandez is very
easy, too, if you take the yoga mat to
get to him. And then you can just walk
past the guards outside of the villa
without any trouble. Of course, I only
realized this after finishing the story
mode and was cleaning up collecting all
of the collectibles. Because during my
play through, I went in the hard way and
had to beat up all of his personnel just
to get to him. Getting to Teresa was
easier, though. I just used my natural
instincts to get to beautiful women.
Sinjin Smythe, my dear.
>> Audio.
James.
Still on.
Tea. Tea. Tea time.
>> So, in the evening, we dress up in a
tuxedo where Bond has the bizarre choice
of a white bow tie instead of the
classic black. But, I love how he needs
Q's help to tie it. He can start a car
without any car keys, charm women
without any help, but has no idea how to
tie a bow tie. It makes it perfect for
the origin story side of things. [music]
Why would he know this? And the fact
we're wearing glasses so Moneypenny can
watch along is again very reminiscent of
Kingsman. So, Teresa turns out to be the
target. But, rich party boy Ellis gets
accidentally involved, too, because he
was hoping for a booty call. So, now
it's our job to save Teresa and rich
spoiled party boy along the way, who's
totally ungrateful, by the way, and is
KO'd with a satisfying thanks for
nothing punch. In order to save Teresa,
we need to defeat the other twin that
was still left while surrounded by a
blazing inferno. After defeating him, we
narrowly escape an explosion and get
caught. And we unlock the next story
trophy, Double or Die, named after the
Charlie Higson Young Bond title. After
that, we find ourselves strapped to a
table in a cool spin on the Goldfinger
laser scene. Damian shows up, mask and
all, and for a moment it looks like
we're about to be cut in half.
>> Lying down on the job again, are we,
Bond?
>> You're late.
>> So, without any gadgets or weapons, we
have to find our way to Greenway. But,
we do have control over Greenway's
sniper, a very unique spin that I liked.
After reaching Greenway and being cut
loose, we take control over weapons
again and have to shoot our way through
another adrenaline-filled section. After
that, we arrive at this gigantic machine
that makes everybody look like ants, and
we have to bulldoze our way through
everyone and everything. And as a Bond
fan, I totally got a kick out of the
unexpected On Her Majesty's Secret
Service theme blazing out for this part.
Getting through all of this lands us
with a boss fight with Damian, and
similar to the one with the twin, it
requires you to use the environment to
try and defeat him. This time, without
any gadgets. After we get through that
part, we make one of the most brutal
finishes in all of Bond and leave him to
be.
>> James,
you have such a way with words.
You're hilarious.
>> [laughter]
>> You haven't had the punchline yet.
>> [screaming]
>> Heartbreakingly, Greenway got shot along
the way in an emotional moment of his
goodbye. And I like where they went with
this tragic character. Before the
villains were revealed, I was sometimes
even questioning if they were going to
make Green way in the villain, but I'm
glad they kept him an ally all the way
and his death does hit home. That
unlocks us the next story trophy, you
know my name, named after Casino
Royale's title song. So, Webb blackmails
M into granting him immunity by leaking
vital MI6 information. Unwilling to
accept this unfair outcome, Bond goes
rogue [music] and we have to sneak
around Q's lab, who just pretty much
left the door open and knew exactly what
Bond would do. After collecting some
gadgets and a weapon, we sneak our way
out of the lab and exit MI6, granting us
the solo trophy, named after the William
Boyd Bond novel. So, Bond teams up with
Isolde to track down Webb and they are
sibling AI quantum computer, Hyperion,
and we track down his facility in
Antarctica. So, our objective is to
locate and destroy Hyperion. Bond is
dressed in the Specter's winter outfit
and Isolde is going more for
Anakin Skywalker. We easily sneak into
the facility, but need ID cards to get
access to the deeper parts we need to
reach. With some more hacking and
trickery, we get ourselves the key cards
and head over to the correct department.
And it was here where I felt the game
really resembled the unmade third
Timothy Dalton Bond film, and that
supposedly was also going to feature a
rich main villain, a thief Bond girl,
and robots. Check out this video I did
on that 4 years ago if you're interested
in learning about the storyline that
never was. And of course, these robots
were designed exactly for the purpose
that you think they are, to play the
piano.
Well, and as doomsday murder machines
later down the line. Bet you didn't see
that one coming. You have to use this
giant wrecking ball to take them out.
>> Nice throw.
It's definitely a challenging
semi-climax to the game's storyline, and
you're not just trying to destroy
robots. You're also fighting your way
through Webb's armored army, and it's
definitely a long but satisfying
mission. Eventually, you make your way
all the way down to Hyperion, where Webb
confronts you, but in another twist,
Isola shoots Webb and takes the core for
herself. We then have to chase her down
as the facility is being destroyed,
followed by an action-packed boat chase.
We eventually do catch her, but not
before MI6 catches us. This also unlocks
the Writings on the Wall trophy, named
after Spectre's title song. We then
reach the game's action-packed climax,
taking place at MI6 HQ, where Bond and
Isola are taken to custody. After
Damian's mercenaries suddenly attack
MI6, we are freed. Isola flees, but we
have to head down to Thea's core.
This is where Bond reunites with Q, who
gives us a Q watch with unlimited
battery, which we can use to have every
tech object in Q Lab go haywire to take
out all of the mercenaries in an
exhilarating level. And speaking of
exhilarating, we then have to take
control of the Aston Martin Valhalla
from No Time to Die and shoot the crap
out of everything around us. An
unexpected addition to this climax, but
man, did it put a smile on my face. And
I'm not even the biggest fan of this
Aston Martin, but this was awesome.
After that, we need to chase down
Damian, who I was surprised to still see
alive, and we follow him down to the
sewers from Q Lab, a little bit like
Bond chasing Silva in Skyfall. The end
level, where you need to dodge Damian's
berserk attacks, was quite challenging
and required [music] precise timing.
After that, Bond and Damien go down
together with Hyperion score, but then
Issola comes to the rescue. Not the
rescue Bond, I mean priorities first.
She gets the core out of the water, but
then she has heart enough to lift Bond
from the water. No CPR though. Don't
push it with this chick. And the game's
last cutscene then ends with Bond and M
at Greenway's funeral, where we finally
earn the number.
>> I suppose this makes you 001.
>> Wouldn't be right.
Actually, Mom, I thought since I was the
seventh recruit.
>> Happens to be my lucky number.
There's an unseen hand operating [music]
in the shadows, playing a game we know
nothing about.
How that is even possible keeps me awake
[music] at night.
Perhaps you'd be so kind as to do some
digging.
007.
>> Mom,
thought you'd never ask.
>> [music]
[music]
>> And man was it a lot of fun completing
this story line. It was super
interesting to see Bond go from the
surviving airman in the opening in
Iceland to becoming 007 at the end of
the game. Talk about an interesting
origin story.
I really enjoyed playing this game and I
hope there will be a sequel.
So, with the story line now completed, I
still had 12 trophies remaining for the
clean up, and I went to the tact sim to
see what that was about. Here we have to
do some simulation training where you
can also unlock outfits, gadgets, and
weapons, and have to collect XP. The
objectives here are very easy, and so
are all of the trophies you need to
collect in this mode. Especially because
by the time you finish the story and you
get the tact sim, you will be well
versed with the controls and none of
this will be any issue. Completing your
first escalation immediately unlocks the
first trophy, a change of pace. Within
no time at all, I blazed through the
second and third escalation, and that
unlocked the readiness is all trophy,
which was probably the easiest gold
trophy I have ever gotten. I mean,
seriously, three escalations, about 5
minutes of work.
Strangely enough, the next trophy didn't
initially pop. I had to reach clearance
level three in tact sim to get it, and I
was already at level three, but nothing
had happened yet. Turns out the glitch
is common from what I've seen online.
Some people even had to reach level nine
for it to pop. I just continued playing
more escalations, and thankfully, in the
middle of playing that, it suddenly
popped.
We'll take it.
Next up was the operations mode that had
us return to the museum after the escape
from the web anniversary gala level, and
we needed to get three data cards from
targets, which proved a lot more
challenging than the escalations and
definitely required careful planning and
lots of trial and error. I found this
mode to be way more fun than the
escalations, and it also took longer to
complete. During the operations, I also
got the very easy always have an exit
plan trophy, which required you to use a
gadget to get away from a guard when
he's confronting you. And somehow, I
never used that option throughout the
entire story, and it's super easy to do.
It's a misquoted trophy name, by the
way. Instead of exit plan, it should be
escape plan.
>> Always have an escape plan.
>> After lots of attempts, I eventually
forged my perfect strategy using the
laser watch to enter the air vent at the
start of the operation, extracting the
first disc from the guard while
distracting him by hacking the air
conditioning, back into the air vent,
sneaking upstairs by taking out a guard,
waiting for the second target, strike
and take the second disc, [music] then
downstairs back into another air vent,
disable the camera upon exiting, taking
out that guard, then plotting my way
over to the library without being seen
by any of the guards.
Hunt down the last target, then striking
in silence, sneak out, and I almost
screwed up right at the end here where I
got into a fight and way too many guards
came after me, but I managed to get away
from them, and later quickly snuck out
to the exit and got the trophy. One of
the more challenging ones in the game.
Now, all I had left to get my platinum
trophy were the collectibles. I had
picked up a fair amount of collectibles
during my play through, but clearly had
a lot that I had missed. You need 36
cards, 23 pieces of intel, 14 mementos,
10 postcards, and nine legacy items. The
game awards you with a trophy for each
type, as well as a trophy for collecting
all of them. I had picked up a fair
amount of collectibles during my play
through, but clearly had a lot that I
had missed. I initially set out to try
and find all of these on my own, but
since I wanted to get this video out
within a reasonable time, I had to use a
written guide for some of the more
obscure ones. For this video, I
collected the majority of camera, but I
am planning to go back and show you guys
all the locations for those interested
in an upcoming video. Collecting all of
these unlocked all of the trophies I was
missing. A Legacy of Spycraft, Recovered
Assets, The World Is Not Enough, and For
Your Eyes Only.
Now, I was just missing one card and
could not figure out why I had missed
that. It turns out, as I was watching
back the footage of me picking up that
particular card, I had picked up an item
instead of the card without noticing it.
So, I got back to the exact location
where I would get the last three
trophies. Casino Royale for collecting
all of the cards, A Collector's Habit
for collecting all of the collectibles,
and the platinum trophy, The Name's
Bond, James Bond, for collecting all of
the trophies, completing my platinum
journey, making this my 15th platinum
trophy, and it sure was a lot of fun
getting this one. I hope you had fun
following me along in this compilation.
It took me about a week to complete
while also going to work and, of course,
having my mandatory baby duties in
between. Not too bad for a recent
father. If you've liked this content, it
would help my channel tremendously if
you could like and subscribe if you
haven't already. Thanks a lot for
watching me undergo completing this
game, and see you guys in the next
video.
